Hester Young The third book, THE BURNING ISLAND, should be released in the summer of 2018. It is set on Hawaii's Big Island, and I hope you'll love it!

I absolutely loved both of your books. Charlie is a great character! She has such a distinct voice. I know this is slated to be a trilogy but is there any chance of making a longer series out of it?
Hester Young Thanks, Amanda! After the third Charlie book, I have a new writing project in mind. That said, Charlie's voice has a way of getting in my head and demanding that I tell her stories, so who knows how long I can keep her out?

Hester Young Thank you for the kind words. I promise that I am writing the third book as fast as I can (given that I have two small children!) and the second book, THE SHIMMERING ROAD, is already in edits. It’s fun for me to watch Charlie evolve over these three novels � I hope you’ll enjoy it, too!

Hester Young Thank you so much! The second book of the trilogy should be released in February 2017, and I'm currently working on the third and final installment. I hope you'll enjoy them both!

Loved Gates of Evangeline. My group is always looking for new, good authors to enjoy. Can you give some idea of when the second book will be out? Do you have a name yet? We gave your first book a "10" and I assure you that we give those out rarely.
Hester Young Thank you, Susan! That is wonderful to hear. I will be giving my editor the manuscript to the second book this week. We should have more information about its release soon!

Update: Looks like THE SHIMMERING ROAD will have its U.S. release in January 2017.

Hi. I read on Pinterest that your book, The Gates of Evangeline is the first book in a trilogy. Is this true? If so, I look forward to reading them.
Hester Young Yes, The Gates of Evangeline is the first of three Charlie Cates books. I am currently wrapping up work on the second novel in the series. I won't give away too much except to say that the setting is quite different from the first book and that Charlie's gift will lead her on another adventure, this one quite personal.

Evangeline is such an uncommon name...I know, my first name is Evangeline and most people tell me they've never heard it before. The only other Evangeline, I know of, is Evangeline Lily, the actress. How are you acquainted with this first name?
Hester Young Evangeline is a famous epic Longfellow poem that is quite popular in Cajun Louisiana, the setting of my book. The poem chronicles the tragic separation of Evangeline from her lover Gabriel and her attempts to find him. In my book, Evangeline is a lavish Louisiana estate that little Gabriel Deveau disappeared from thirty years prior; the novel, like the poem, revolves around the protagonist’s attempts to discover what happened to the missing Gabriel. It’s a beautiful and unusual name—you’re lucky to have it!
