There’s something else I want to address, because I know it’s going to stir some opinions. I’ve chosen not to list “cheating� as a trigger in this book. I’m not trying to hide anything or catch my readers off guard, and I certainly don’t take the subject lightly.

As someone who’s felt the deep, personal sting of betrayal, I know how painful that can be.

But here’s the thing; cheating, to me, requires more than an exchange of vows and empty promises. Ruby’s marriage is a prison, a contract forced on her. How can it be considered infidelity when there was never any fidelity to begin with?

Whether you consider this a dark romance with an unhappy—or different—ending, or a dark romantic tragedy, I’ve done my best to set the expectations without shielding anyone from the rawness of the story.
