She’s out for justice. Teagan Kim is on a mission to find her cousin’s murderer, the same one she suspects nearly killed her. She’s used to operating on her own, but the DEA assigns her a bodyguard for a job she’s handling—and he turns out to be the man she had a one-night stand with the last time she was in town. Now they’re forced to work together as she hunts down a murderer. And when the danger closes in, her sexy one-night-stand-turned-bodyguard is all that’s standing between her and the people who want her dead.
His job is to keep her alive long enough to get it. Decker Abrams is Crimson Point Security’s newest personal protection specialist, and he’s just been handed his first Teagan. The woman who saved his sister’s life and then ghosted him after the hottest night of his life. She’s just as much a mystery to him now as the first time they met. He wants to know why she left without a word, but he’s got a job to do and refuses to let things get personal. Except everything about Teagan feels personal. And as the danger mounts, they’ll have to learn to trust each other if they want to make it out alive.

I am not a fan of books where the H/h are at odds throughout the book. I also am not a fan of books where one of the characters is holding back information and not fully cooperating with the other. This book just didn't do it for me. I didn't like either the hero or the heroine all that much. I never understood why the heroine, who had military training, needed such close protection to do a DEA contract job.
Feeling responsible for the death of another is a heavy load to carry. Teagan Kim believes she was responsible for the death of her beloved cousin, Lily, because she asked her to be alert to shady happenings on the dock where she worked as a research assistant. Soon after her death Teagan is knifed and tossed overboard to die too. But she survived and is now on a mission to find Lily's killer and her attacker, who she believes is the same person. The DEA has a contract for her. They want her to get information on a drug smuggling ring and have hired Crimson Point Security to provide bodyguards for her. One of her bodyguards is a man saved her and who she had a torrid one-night stand with and ghosted. Awkward.
As a newly minted personal protection specialist, bodyguard to us un-PC peeps, Decker Abrams is going to follow the rules and procedures, but he had feelings for his protectee, Teagan. His job is to keep her safe while she looks for evidence to stop a band of drug smugglers operating on the Northern Pacific Coast. Determined to not let their past relations interfere with this assignment is going to be a challenge for Decker. No matter what the DEA tells him, he is going to protect Teagan, even from herself. 3 1/2-Stars
It’s so frustrating to pick up the first book in a series and have no idea what’s going on. This couple apparently hooked up in book 7 or 8 in the previous series Crimson Point Protectors and at no point in this book did the author give the reader more than a “they hooked up before backstory.
This isn’t book 1 of a new series, it’s book 9 of the previous series. It’s actually probably book 7.5 or 8.5 (I still don’t know) given how imperative it is to read the previous book for context.
This book is 266 pages. I promise I would still read it if it was 300+ pages as long as I got a complete story.
While this is first in a new series, it clearly draws on a lot of characters and information from previous books making parts of this book confusing to a first time reader. Also, I never got the point of Neal’s character. He and his family would pop up randomly but these instances added nothing but confusion to the story. The characters themselves were ok and plot line was decent but nothing we haven’t seen before in romantic suspense.
While Guarding Teagan is labelled as Crimson Point Security #1, it's really a continuation of the Crimson Point Protectors series. If you have not read the previous books - and I have not - there are plot points and supporting characters that may confuse you. This book jumps into the middle of Teagan's investigation of and quest for justice in the murder of her cousin. It references action that occurred previously but does not really provide a lot of context. For example, we don't really learn why Teagan became an intelligence analyst or a freelance agent. Additionally, we don't really find out about Deck's family background - why he moved away or why he returned. The author makes lots of inside references to other cast members but doesn't really help the reader get to know them. This didn't really feel like a standalone.
The book is very fast paced. There's a clear mystery involving drug smuggling on the west coast. The heroine is smart, brave and dauntless. There's some chemistry between the two main characters.
In the prologue of this book we see the events that started Teagan's relentless search for a killer. The victim was her cousin and best friend Lily, who was doing a favor for Teagan by watching for any suspicious activities while working on a research vessel at the marina. Teagan never expected or wanted Lily to put herself in danger but she had and now she's gone.
In the first chapter we see Decker and Creed as they finish up a training course in Montana. The objective of the three-day course at Rifle Creek Tactical is to hone their skills. The six of them attending were all previously military or law enforcement and now work for Crimson Point Security. I have to admit I laughed when they thought it was over and then it wasn't. Even then Decker kept thinking about Teagan, they had their one night and she left and ghosted him.
Even after almost dying, Teagan is still in pursuit of those responsible for Lily's death. Her parents don't understand, they didn't when she enlisted, they didn't when she went into intelligence, and now that she does the same work privately, they don't understand that either. Her latest information has her going to Crimson Point under contract with the DEA. She would have a protection detail while she was working this op.
At Crimson Point Security she is greeted by Kerrigan who brings her tea, since the owner, former Marine, Ryder Lock and his second in command and former Delta, Callum were still in a meeting. When the men approach her the get right to business and take her to the meeting room to meet her protection detail who'd already been briefed. Her DEA contact would be meeting with her afterward.
The DEA needs Teagan to plant a bug in the office of a seedy bar. They needed more proof before they could raid the place. With Decker on the inside as a customer and Creek keeping watch outside Teagan gets the bug planted but almost gets caught in the office.
Unknown to her she's been recognized by a patron at the bar, he needs to do something about her before his boss finds out.
What could have been a deadly accident only serves to scare the life out her and Decker. Teagan is bruised but otherwise unharmed. The DEA calls this a failure on the part of Crimson's bodyguards and with their goal accomplished, want Teagan to take a back seat while they wait for more information.
Of course, she's not going to stand for that or her bodyguards being replaced.
Things heat up even more now as Teagan insists on continuing her own investigation. The DEA obviously not interested in helping her as per their contract. She's sure she'll be fine since she has Decker and Creed for protection and backup.
There's plenty of suspense, intrigue, action, romance and more as this tale unfolds and I really can't wait to read the next book in this series.
GUARDING TEAGAN is the first instalment in Kaylea Cross contemporary, adult CRIMSON POINT SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series-a spin off from the author’s Crimson Point Protectors and Crimson Point series, and a slight cross over with her Vengeance Series. This is Crimson Point Security agent Decker Abrams, and MI6 agent Teagan Kim’s story line. Decker and Teagan were introduced in Lethal Reprisal (Crimson Point Protectors)
Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Teagan and Decker GUARDING TEAGAN follows in the aftermath of the murder of Teagan’s cousin Lily, a woman who witnessed a possible crime. Determined to bring the killer to justice, Teagan now working with the DEA, finds herself up close and personal with a former one-night stand, in the guise of Crimson Point Security (CPS) agent Decker Abrams. CPS has been contracted by the DEA in a joint investigation into a possible drug smuggling ring, and our couple are about to be caught in the middle when Teagan suspects a possible mole in the DEA. From the outset, the investigation begins to spiral out of control when Teagan becomes the target of a desperate man. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Decker and Teagan, and the potential fall-out as the DEA refuses to back our story line heroine.
The world building brings together some of the characters and couples we met in the interconnected series, giving the new series a sense of cohesion and familiarity. We are introduced to new agents, and old friends, as the author sets up the who and why of Crimson Point Security.
The relationship between Teagan and Decker is one of second chances, of a sort. Teagan and Decker spent one glorious night together after rescuing Decker’s sister but Teagan ghosted Decker, and our hero has never forgot about the woman that got away. Working together to take down a killer, Decker finds himself falling hard, refusing to walk when all was said and done. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to several previous story line characters including Decker’s half siblings: Marley and Warwick (Lethal Reprisal) as well as Gavin and Tristan; former Special Forces soldier Creed; DEA Agent Clive, and Teagan’s parents Joseph and Annie. The requisite evil has many faces. Creed and Bella’s story line is next.
GUARDING TEAGAN is a story of power and control, murder and drug smuggling, suspense and intriguing, friendships and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining, dramatic and thrilling; the romance is seductive; the characters are charismatic, determined and dynamic.
Teagan is determined to avenge her cousin's death. It was made to look like a drug death but she knows better. She used to work in Navy Intelligence so she knows how to investigate and when she gets a wee bit too close, the bad guys go after her. She is well aware that she needs additional help and Crimson Point aided her the last time, so when the DEA suggests CPS helps her out this time, she's all for it. But she didn't reckon on Decker being the one to do the guarding!
Decker has had Teagan on his mind for a while. Their ONS was supposed to be a release of pressure. But Teagan just landed back in his orbit and he is determined that she won't sneak away from him again! Creed and Decker are like a little bromance and Teagan just fits in with their banter seamlessly. She's like a sister to Creed in no time.
I love it when series and characters cross over and this time we get to see a little bit of Rifle Creek Tactical as well as the original Crimson Point residents (and even a Valkyrie). I did feel that Teagan and her parents were estranged over trauma, but her parents were really just looking out for her and trying to keep her safe the only way they knew how.
All the staff at CPS appear to be warm and inviting and willing to do what they can for someone in trouble. However, I can't say I get the same warm and fuzzy feelings from the DEA agents - I really would love to have slapped in a particular agent a few times! Teagan could be her own worse enemy at times but she is a bada&& and able to take care of herself. She also recognises when she's done something stupid and calls herself out on it when she goes against protocols.
Actions, adventure, drug trafficking, murder, humour and steamy rekindled love!
The main characters in this first story, Teagan Kim and Decker Adams, were ones we met in book 8 of the Crimson Point Protectors, Lethal Reprisal. Months after their one night stand, one in which Teagan disappeared, Teagan, a contract agent is still mourning the death of her cousin Lily and is determined to find the culprits. Individuals that apparently have been smuggling drugs. Knowing her desire to fight back, she has been hired by the DEA to plant a listening device in a seedy bar likely related to the same case. While the DEA wants to stop the smugglers, Teagan is hoping to finally get those who killed her cousin captured and paying for their crimes. Decker is shocked when he discovers that his first assignment in his new job as a bodyguard/protector for Crimson Point Security, is Teagan. The chemistry is still there, but the danger that follows needs to first be dealt with. This was a wonderful start to the author’s new series. Best of all, we are back in Crimson Point one of my all time favorite towns. For those that have read the previous stories, you’ll get a chance to “visit with some of those characters, making this a smooth transition to this new spin off . Looking forward to the next story of the series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
What a great way to start a new spin off series!! I have been loving all Crimson Point characters so I am always all in when a new story comes out. Teagan Kim is on the hunt for her cousin/best friend’s killer and the only way she is able to have any help is to assist the DEA as a contract agent with a case they are working on. Because she has been already hurt before, they hire Crimson Point Security as bodyguards. Imagine her surprise when the man she had a one night stand with and have been having a difficult time forgetting about, happens to be one of her bodyguards.
Teagan is not the only one who could not forget their one night together, but this is Decker first assignment for Crimson Point Security and he knows he needs keep his head in the game so he has to keep it professional. Unfortunately when things start heating up and Teagan is placed in more danger, professionalism goes out the window.
I absolutely loved Decker and Teagan’s story, there are the usual twist and turns that kept me at the edge of my seat, but the added history between these two had me finishing in a night even during my vacation. A definite 5-star read.
This is the first book in Kaylea’s Crimson Point Security series and what a series start it is! Guarding Teagan is the story of Teagan & Decker. Both characters we’ve met before in Kaylea’s Crimson Point Protectors series (Lethal Reprisal). Teagan is trying to find her cousin’s murderer and Decker is assigned as her bodyguard. Both characters are closed off, have reason to guard their hearts but are drawn to each other as they work together to bring justice for Teagan and her Cousin.
I love that Kaylea has kept this new series in Crimson Point so we get a glimpse of characters from previous series including Noah & Poppy (there’s a tease here that they may play a role as this series continued) but be assured that this book can absolutely be read as a one off.
Kaylea writes really enjoyable, engaging, fast paced romantic suspense and this book certainly lives up to the high standard we’ve come to expect from Kaylea’s previous books. This first book in her new series (Security) opens the door to lots more exciting stories and this reader absolutely can’t wait! #Recommend
I’m a long-time fan of romantic suspense books and Kaylea Cross. She writes edge-of-your-seat romantic thrillers I can’t seem to stop devouring. She’s on the short list of authors I 1-click without reading a blurb. With Guarding Teagan, she takes us back to Crimson Point with an edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense. It’s the first book in another Crimson Point spinoff, and you’d better believe I’m here for all of them! You *can* read it as a standalone title; however, some crossover characters and references to a previous storyline might confuse you, so I recommend reading Lethal Reprisal first. It’s such a good book I can’t help but encourage you to read it before this one if you’d like a more detailed backstory for Teagan and Decker. This book was suspenseful, emotional, and action-packed: the perfect trifecta. As usual, I didn’t want to walk away from it until I finished. Guarding Teagan is just one more reason among many that Kaylea Cross is a top favorite of mine!
New series, Crimson Point Security! Sign me up…I’m all in! This was everything I wanted it to be and sooo much more. Teagan is investigating a death and it’s too close to home for her. Her best friend/cousin is gone and she will do everything she can to find out who did it. Decker works for CPS and loves his job and family. When he gets assigned to help Teagan he is pleasantly surprised.these two have a short past. While the investigation gets more dangerous the chemistry between these two gets extremely hot. We meet new characters and get pop ins from former characters in this page turning book. This was a great layered story with a lot going on. One of my favorite things about Kaylea’s books is the way she also tells the story from the villains side. She gives great details explanations from both sides…and I love It! I’m very excited about this new series and I can’t wait to get to know the characters better. I’m already excited about the next book in the series.
Guarding Teagan is the first book in a spin off series from the town of Crimson Point❣️ Featuring Marley’s brother, Decker and the woman who Warwick saved from the beach, Teagan, we discover what led to her ending up in Crimson Point and her determination to uncover the truth.
An action packed and suspenseful story as Teagan contracts with the DEA to help them during an investigation, in the hopes of discovering who murdered her cousin. Decker and Creed, both new hires to CPS, Crimson Point Security, are brought in as her protection detail🙃 But as always, things don’t always go to plan and Decker and Teagan end up in a safe house together while fighting their attraction to the other😳
Loved this story and I can’t wait for Creed’s story next especially after that brief glimpse…I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
Guarding Teagan by Kaylea Cross is the first book in the Crimson Point security series. It’s a spinn off from the Crimson Point protectors series. It is a stand alone but I would recommend to read Lethal reprisal from the Crimsons Point protectors series first to learn more about Teagan and Decker because that’s where we meet them. I was looking forward to read about Teagan and Decker and I absolutely loved this book! Teagan is looking for her cousins murderer and because she has been attacked before is being protected by Decker and his colleague. I read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down! It’s suspenseful, has some twists and turns and hot romance. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series! I received this arc from the author and this review is my honest opinion!
New series but same town. New faces but familiar friendly appearances.
We first meet both these characters in the last book of of the Crimson Point Protector series. They had a few moments together and you could sense a spark between them so I was happy to hear we were getting a Decker and Teagan story.
One thing I love most about Kaylea stories is that you can always expect a Alpha Male protector from the MFC and decker did not disappoint.
Teagan is just as much of a badass but she found herself being able to let go and show some vulnerability with decker. As well as Decker with Teagan
This book and like all the other from this author brought the action. Never disappointment.
Really enjoy the Noah and Poppy bits we received as well.
When intelligence analyst Teagan Kim discovered her murdered cousin Lily Jung’s body, she asked the DEA for help solving her murder. Teagan finds herself teamed with 2 men working for Crimson Point Security when the DEA asks for help with a case. It turns out she has a history with Decker, one of the men on her security detail and they both are challenged to keep their relationship professional. Realizing the DEA has no plans to help her, she takes matters into her own hands and Teagan has his hands full trying to keep her safe and into his life forever. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #kayleacross #guardingteagan #inkslingerpr
Loved the first book in this new series. Deck & Teagan's story brings the Crimson Point security crew front and centre, familiar friends, reappearances, and of course Teagan and Deck. Picking up a short time after all the excitement of losing her memory etc, it seems the bad guys haven't missed a beat and the quest to find her cousins killer puts her back in the cross hairs. Deck is stunned to perhaps get a chance to win her over, but the bad guys don't get the memo so several close shaves, hiding, falling harder for Deck, and a final throw down with kidnapping and another boat trip this will have you on the edge of your seat! Loved it, bring on book 2
Teagan has had a really rough x of it ever since someone murdered her cousin and she's been trying 2 find out who did it and why. But a few people don't seem 2 care what she wants just that she's in the way of things that she don't need 2 know about. The DEA made a deal with her but what do they do, cause more trouble and constantly lie and brake their word. Can she find out answers that she desperately seeks and have a chance at love that she didn't she could have? Decker may b a good bodyguard even starting out but will he b able 2 save her from anyone trying 2 hurt her? Read and find out. It was fast pace with alot of action and it was really good finding answers 4 her innocent cousin. I can't wait 4 more asap!!
Guarding Teagan starts off hot and never slows down! Teagan and Decker met in Lethal Reprisal, the last book in the Crimson Point Protectors series and had a hot night together. Now, Teagan has been investigating her cousin’s, Lily’s, murder and now her own life is in serious danger, again. Decker is a new bodyguard with Crimson Point Security and is tasked with helping her stay alive. When other organizations leaves her behind when she is no longer of use to them, Decker continues his own personal mission to keep her alive. This book is full of danger, heat, and passion. You don’t want to miss it!
Oh WOW! Kaylea has done it again! This story is about Decker and Teagan. Decker had just started at Crimson Point Security when Teagan came roaring back in to his life with danger behind her. It just gets more intense as you read each chapter. There are points in each chapter that makes your heart go in to your throat! So happy that Teagan was finally able to find peace with her investigation and the bad guys were taken care of. Glad these 2 finally got their second chance and they took it. FANTASTIC job Kaylea! I would highly recommend this book. Looking forward to Creed & Bella's book!
What a brilliant start to a new series. Teagan is trying to find her cousins murderer with the help of the DEA but as she has already been hurt she also gets protection. Decker is on his first mission for Crimson Point Security and he is to guard Teagan but no one knows that they already know each other intimately. They had a one night stand when she was in Crimson Point before. When Teagan's life is in danger again Decker will do everything he can to keep her safe but will that be enough. So much drama and plenty of suspense but also so much emotion and love. Loved the ending and can't wait for the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
OK I love every book I read by this author. I know going into her books that I’m going to get a really good story and great characters. This one was no different. I loved the characters of Decker and Teagan. I think this author has a talent of connecting her books together through different characters. Both of these characters appeared in her previous book which I love because there is such a continuity in her stories. And Decker and Teagan were paired up perfectly. This story was full of suspense that kept me from putting the book down. I don’t want to spoil anything so let me just say you need to read this book.
A new series from Crimson Point, but some of our favourite characters are back. In a previous book, we met Teagan and Decker when he rescued her from the shore, injured and suffering amnesia. She’s hunting the man who murdered her cousin and Decker is assigned to protect her. They had a steamy night together before Teagan vanished so there’s some history to sort out but the sparks are still there!! Another amazing instalment in this intertwined world of protective males and the strong women they fall for.
This was a great start to another series by this talented author. I absolutely adore all the characters in CP, so I'm glad we are still staying there. The only unfortunate part is the fact that means more danger for our beloved fictional characters. And the author definitely didn't hold back with that for a first in series book, starting off with a bang. We've met the main characters before but see a whole different side to them, with them bringing out the best in each other. Can't wait to see what the ending was about for the next couple.
Decker and Teagan. When we met Teagan I hoped for more so it was a great start to the spin off that we see her HEA and with Decker a family fav from Marley’s story. The story has all the acronyms and danger with drugs, guns, bombs and such. Ivy and Warwick are both present with their significant other and ensure that their help is available when/if needed. Ivy is a hoot and I hope for the reunion she talked about to happen in a book soon! Creed is a great new character and I hope that his HEA is also full of family and fun mixed with the danger!
Guarding Teagan is Book 1 in the Crimson Point Security Series. Teagan is trying to figure out who murdered her cousin Lily. She is working with the DEA, who hire her a bodyguard from Crimson Point Security, that just so happens to be Decker her one night stand from months ago. Neither one of them could forget their night together, but they have their work cut out for them keeping things professional when the investigation gets more dangerous. This exciting book was full of lots of twists and turns, and some awesome characters.
Kaylea has done it again with a great start to a new series called Crimson Point Security. Teagan is hunting her cousin’s murderer; she contracts with the DEA to help them and in the end, she will get her answers. Decker was just hired onto the Crimson Point Security team and was given his first assignment guarding Teagan. This is an action-packed book that will keep you turning pages until the end. I highly recommend this book.
The perfect way to kick of a new series. Decker and Teagan are great characters with intense chemistry. Readers of previous series will be familiar with them. There is heart pounding action filled with tension and suspense. The romance is sexy. Fan favorite characters make appearances. And there's the perfect amount of humor to balance things out. I read it in one sitting. I can't wait for Creed's book!
I really liked Teagan and Decker. Both of them are so closed off to others but wanting to change that. Both are highly trained and able to handle themselves. They had met before and can't forget each other. Teagan is on a mission to find her cousin's killer and Decker will be there to help her and protect her. If she will let him. Can they stop the smugglers, find the killer and stay alive? Will Teagan stay?
Teagan is hunting for the man that killed her cousin and then almost killed her. She is a contract agent and is helping the DEA find smugglers. While working with them they have hired Crimson Point Security to provide security for Teagan. She is surprised when her one night stand shows up as her bodyguard. Decker is a new hire at CPS and his first job is bodyguard duty for the woman that ghosted him. He has thought about her a lot since their night but thought he'd never see her again. With a killer after her and her doing her own investigation, Decker has his work cut out for him. Because someone out there wants her dead! I loved this story and can't wait for the next one. Suspense. Action. Sex. You will not be disappointed with this story.
