I am a sucker for a man in a hat, a cowboy hat! So as soon as I saw the cover I was like I need to listen to you.

Kate is someone I would totally want to be when I grow up she has a school that helps missing teenagers get back on their feet.
Texas Ranger Wyatt is an ok character a little too demanding of his family if you ask me. I am all for the alpha man but this was almost toooooo much.
He just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, I mean I get it he is a Ranger he has seen a lot of bad stuff but all his NO, NO, NO, you can’t do this or that only makes teens want to do the exact opposite and you would think he would have known that being a Ranger.

Kate really wanted to get to know the girls and give them a sense of safety and hope, and you wouldn’t know it from the way her mother is towards her.

I guess I just felt like the author made so much negative that the few positives were almost overshadowed.

I enjoyed the narration; I think she did a good job with male and female voices.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I usually like Margaret Daley's books, and this was no exception. The heroine especially was someone I really liked--she's strong and smart even in the face of her difficult relationship with her mother, and she's passionate about the girls' home she's running.

The hero reminded me a bit of Michael Weston in the TV show Burn Notice, if Michael Weston were a Texas Ranger. He's capable and brave, but he's a bit out of his element in dealing with the women in his life, his flamboyant mother and teenaged daughter.

The adolescent/teen girl prostitution ring is realistically portrayed but not so gritty that it made it uncomfortable for me to read. This book would be entirely appropriate for high school girls to read, although I would suggest that parents screen it carefully for Junior High girl readers.

The pacing was excellent for my tastes--not too fast, not too slow. The ending especially was exciting and riveting.

All in all, a great book to curl up with.

Child prostitution, human trafficking and the dark side of humanity, are just a few of the issues Margaret Daley weaves into her newest release, Saving Hope, from Abingdon Press.

Through the eyes of a wounded young woman, a school director with a heart of gold and a brave Texas Ranger, Daley has created a story that is full of numerous twists and turns.

A bit "deeper" than Daley's offerings through other publishers, grabbed me at the beginning - and kept me engaged as I tried to figure out who was really the "bad guy."

I'll admit I suspected one person, only to find out he/she (not going to spoil it) was a victim as well.

If there's one thing I would have changed, I wish Daley would have had a bit more "closure" at the end. The book rushed to the conclusion with a crashing speed. When it was over, it was over. (But everything was resolved, so I guess, the good stuff was in the "chase.")

In all though, this was a fun read. The romance isn't too heavy - in fact it's more of a suspense novel, than romance. It shows the struggle that fathers have when relating to their daughters, the things people will do for a friend, the pain evil people can cause in the pursuit of greed and the strength that can be found through faith.

In all, it's a solid three and a half out of five. Saving Hope is set for a March 2012 release (but Amazon says it will be available as of Feb. 11. I'm going to enjoy checking out the next book in the series: Shattered Silence, set for an October 2012 release.

Wow! This was a pretty intense, fast paced book! At first, I wasn't sure I would like it... It didn't take long, however, for me to realize that this book was going to be hard for me to put down.
The characters seemed realistic to me and the story definitely kept my attention. It's a great read and I really enjoyed it! :)

When the people you love are threatened, it's personal.
When a teenager goes missing from the Beacon of Hope School, Texas Ranger Wyatt Sheridan and school director Kate Winslow are forced into a dangerous struggle against a human trafficking organization. Kate, his mother, and his daughter may be in danger because of his involvement.

Now it's personal, and Wyatt finds both his faith and investigative skills challenged as he fights to discover the mastermind behind the ring before evil destroys everyone he loves.

Saving Hope by Margaret Daley was an interesting and spell-binding novel that was eye opening to the reality of child prostitution in America. The plot was easy to follow yet kept details hidden in order to keep the reader tied to the book. The novel was filled with suspense, and there were times when I was not sure what was going to happen next. There was a good mix of romance, mystery, and sobering events that kept me interested and did not leave me bored.

The main characters were well developed, though the speed of the events in the story oftentimes caused their development in the story to be lacking. However, despite that, I did enjoy seeing Wyatt's return to trusting the Lord, and Kate's realizing that she did not have to depend on her parents' money to save her girls. The minor characters did not receive as much attention so there was less character development in them, but Wyatt's daughter and mother did learn from their mistakes throughout the story.

The themes of this novel were clear and sobering. It was sad to see that there is indeed a market in America for the trafficking of young girls into prostitution and other harmful situations. This novel did a great job relaying the seriousness of these issues and the importance of fighting back through better police involvement and creating safe homes like Bridge of Hope for the girls who are rescued or runaway. Saving Hope also clearly portrayed the importance of good parenting and treating one's children with respect and love and not just issuing seemingly unfair rules.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novel, and I would highly recommend it to someone looking for an interesting and exciting yet still thought provoking read.

I received this e-Book for free from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

Title: SAVING HOPE-
Author: Margaret Daley
Publisher: Abingdon Press
March 2012
ISBN: 978-1-4267-1428-3
Genre: Romantic suspense

When a teenager goes missing from the Beacon of Hope School, Texas Ranger Wyatt Sheridan and school director Kate Winslow are forced into a dangerous struggle against a human trafficking organization. But the battle brings dire consequences as Wyatt's daughter is terrorized and Kate is kidnapped.

Now it's personal, and Wyatt finds both his faith and investigative skills challenged as he fights to discover the mastermind behind the ring before evil destroys everyone he loves.

SAVING HOPE is the first book in Ms. Daley’s The Men of the Texas Rangers series. I am reading these out of order, as I read book 3 first, and now book 1, but they are all stand alone. I enjoyed getting to know Kate and Wyatt, but the subject matter was tough to handle. It’s hard to imagine little girls as young as eleven being forced into prostitution. It’s just so horribly wrong.

I did figure out where the story was going to end up pretty early on, and sometimes the extreme stupidity of the characters got on my nerves. Such as Rose. If she was so street-savvy, why did she go alone to rescue Lily? She even knew she was walking into a trap—yet she did it? And another street-savvy girl willingly got into a car with a man she was blackmailing. That’s just two examples of many. I wanted to yell at them to “think! Even us naïve rural people have more common sense.

Still, the book is very well written, engaging, and full of tension. It is hard to read, due to the subject matter, but not because of the writing. I recommend it to romantic suspense fans, and will read more of this series. Don’t miss SAVING HOPE. The final three books are Shattered Silence, Scorned Justice and Severed Trust. $14.99. 336 pages. 4.5 stars.

This wasn't the first novel I've read by Margaret, but it is the first I've read in several years. I'm so glad I read this book. I found myself riveted to the story line and the characters. The tension was perfectly executed, in my opinion, because I couldn't stand it until I got to the end. But more than that, the ride compelled me to think about motivations and schemes and who could be behind everything. The fact that evil was so close to a number of main characters had me practically biting my nails at times. The faith element was balanced and clearly present without being too heavy handed. The progression of their spiritual journeys seemed natural to the characters' lives.

I loved the romantic thread in the story and found it to be warm enough to be yummy for romance lovers without taking away from the tension of the suspense portion of the story. I loved the hero and how he finally opened his heart and had to face his fears. I even liked how the author made a few of the "bad guys" seem like regular people at times. She made them seem more human, while still being dark in their nefarious intentions. They still did wrong, but I loved that they weren't one-dimensional and flat.

The heroine's mission to save children pulled into sexual slavery by predators was admirable, as was the hero's desire to fight for the same cause. The author writing about some of the miserable situations the girls living at Beacon of Hope suffered prior to their rescue in the story made me realize how more people need to step up and help rescue these children. I commend Margaret for opening my eyes to this scourge on society and writing about it.

Kate runs Beacon of Hope School for girls who have been prostitutes. Her mom is not happy about it and when things start to go wrong at the school her mom who controls the funding for the school pulls it. Kate as to deal with the disappearance of one of the girls the death of another and the attempted suicide of a 3rd. The disappearance of the one girl ends up getting the Texas Rangers involved and soon Wyatt finds himself becoming found of Kate. He is also dealing with being a single parent to his 14 year old daughter. Will Kate and Wyatt find the leaders of the prostitution ring and save the girl as well as find love together? Read this great suspense romance to find out.

What I liked: I really enjoyed this book. Even though the subject and story line was in-depth it was very well written. I really liked Kate and felt bad that her mom did not see what a great thing her daughter was doing. Wyatt came across as a man still dealing with his wife's murder and also struggling to raise his 14 year old daughter. The characters where very real and likeable. The storyline kept me interested and turning pages as fast as I could.

What I did not like: There was not much I did not like. The subject of prostitution was kind of deep but the book was so well written and it was very eye opening to what it could be like.

When I first opened this book , I actually thought it might have been a Western type novel but as I got stuck into it , it immediately drew me in as I love novels that push the boundaries of everyday Christian fiction and also the main setting of a home for wayward teens is something that I admire and I have a passion for one day working in one.
Saving Hope starts with a midnight call to Rose - a teen staying at the Beacon Hope Home from an old friend Lily , we discover from the phone call that Rose used to be involved in Prostitution and Drugs. The phone call ends up being a set-up as when Rose arrives , her old pimp King is waiting for her.
Meanwhile, Kate who runs the Beacon Hope is worried about Rose and hopes she hasn't returned to her old life , when Kate gets a phone call about their van which Rose took and the body of a dead girl , Kate's heart jumps that it may be Rose but alas it doesn't end up being her. Soon though , more girls turn up dead -ones that had connections to Rose. Enter Wyatt -the Texas Ranger , Can he and Kate work together to find Rose and save her before it;s too late and she too finds herself six feet under ?
A novel that shows to us that no matter who we are God still loves us and that there are others out there who still care for us even in the midst of danger.
A series that I am looking forward to continuing as I really enjoyed the way that Margaret touched on the Edgy topics at hand in the novel

When one of Beacon of Hope School’s students and the school van disappear, Kate Winslow knows something is very wrong. Rose would never go back to the life she’d left. After a young woman is found dead and the school’s white van is found abandoned, Texas Ranger Wyatt Sheridan of the Child Rescue Task Force is called in. If the dead girl wasn’t Rose, what happened to her? And why did she leave the school in the middle of the night?

The author portrays realistic characters facing believable situations in a suspenseful story that will grab your emotions and keep you reading. The story is perfectly paced with lots of action and a thread of romance.

Ms. Daley utilizes her gift of storytelling in Book #1 of her Men of the Texas Rangers series to make people aware of a growing atrocity not only in other countries, but right here in the USA. Although this is a romantic suspense fiction book, it calls attention the fact that human trafficking can affect not only someone else’s child far away, but the child next door—or yours! If you’ve ever been under the impression, as I was, that prostitution is a lifestyle that is chosen, or at least girls turned to it as a last resort for survival or to support their drug habit, you need to read this book. If you have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or friends with children, it is a must read.

I revisited this series courtesy of Audible Plus and enjoyed the reacquainting myself with these characters and the suspense plot.

_____

Compelling and gritty, Daley tackles a sensitive subject with compassion. She doesn't mince words, but she does offer, as the title suggests, hope. I found it hard to read at times because she captured the horror and fear of human trafficking so well. But those scenes are balanced by Kate's determination and drive to make things better for the girls in her care. An artful show of contrast between the harsh reality of the streets and the second chance the girls are getting at Beacon of Hope School really makes an impact.

Add in the suspense that builds to a fever pitch by the end and Saving Hope becomes a real page-turner. As readers, we know some things the characters don't and that really upped the tension. Wyatt and Kate didn't know how close to evil they really were, but I did and it about drove me crazy when they refused to listen to my warnings!

Daley also manages to weave a winning romance into the taut plot. Emotionally charged and tension-riddled, Saving Hope is one romantic suspense you'll want to sink your teeth into.

I'm torn between a 3.5 and a 4, so I rounded up...I liked the idea of this story and the subject matter it covered, the romance was sweet, the tension was good, but parts of the middle seemed to move a bit too slowly for my taste. Still, Margaret is a great author and I'll definitely read her again.

Received this book free from author, publisher and Wynn-Wynn Media. What a nice surprise. Thank you.

This was one great read and very informative in fiction story form about human trafficking. I really enjoyed this well written, exciting, suspenseful, meaningful, action read. It is also about relationships within the main characters. A great story for young teens and up. **Recommend**

Saving Hope is a great read. I found it to be edgy and suspenseful with page turning action. Sadly, the plot of human trafficking is a reality in the U.S. and I loved that Margaret Daley tackles this issue in the book. It definitely has made me more aware.
I think this is a great start of the series and I look forward to see what happens next in book 2.

I wouldn't classify this too much as a romance. There was a much more important focus in the story, which made the "romance" part of it literally become a last minute decision at the end. It is quite wholesome and very much faith inspired as it should be with the topics discussed. Kate is the director of a shelter/halfway house for young girls who were out in the streets and turning tricks. Her purpose is to give them a second chance at a good clean life. When girls start to come up missing, Wyatt, a Texas Ranger is called to work on the case and find them. To me this book became more of a mystery to me and I could care less about whether or not the main characters' would get together. I just wanted to know if they would find the girls and if they would shut down the operation. Normally I don't like books with more than a dual POV but for this book, it was absolutely necessary. It lets you get a good look into each corner of the author's world and you get a clear view of who's good and who's bad. Though, one character gave me bad vibes and kudos to the author for managing that through her writing, the plot twist had my jaw on the floor. I really enjoyed it. This book was out of the norm for me and I could've done with about 15 less prayers (it was just a little much, but a little prayer never hurt anyone) but it was really good. A bit slow, but good.

I Almost Gave Up
The first couple of chapters of the audiobook featured a bit too much twang in the Texas drawls for me. I thought I was going to have to give up on this book before I could ever develop a feel for the characters. Thank the big blue TX sky, the narrator seemed to relax a bit into the book and smooth out those twangs.

I enjoyed this story of a strong-willed, dedicated and headstrong woman named Kate and the Texas Ranger who becomes her salvation. It's a sweet story of love, hope, redemption, and honor that never gets old for me.

Sensitive readers should have no problem with the language or romance scenes in this story: it definitely falls into the category of "sweet romance." I'm glad I made it through the first chapters and stuck it out.

Although “Saving Hope is fiction its story line is terrifyingly real. Kate Winslow runs a home for girls who have escaped prostitution. When one of the girls goes missing Texas Ranger, Wyatt Sheridan is called in to help. Although the story includes a bit of romance, it also tells of the horror behind human trafficking. Seriously people, don’t take your eyes off your kids. These people are slick in their approach. There's no language in this book and it's covers an important topic that is being overlooked today. I could hardly put it down. It is part of a series and though the main storyline feels complete it did leave me wanting to read the next one in the series.

This is probably a 3.5/4 for me. I was expecting a romance, but this really isn’t a romance. The relationship is definitely a side story and really they have like 2 kisses, 1 maybe date, and then decide they’re in love and going to move in together in the last 5 minutes of the book. I would qualify it as a HFN ending as we don’t really know how things will pan out since they literally just met.

Kate and Rose are the best characters in this book, Jack is okay, everyone else was mostly irrelevant or annoying. It was definitely suspenseful and the story line is very emotionally heavy.

Christian Contemporary Suspenseful Romance

Normally, I would consider the spice level sweet, but with the subject being about child sex trafficking, it seemed a bit of a confusing description. But, the romance of the adults IS sweet in spice level. They barely kiss.

The story is powerful, educational, honest, and pertinent.

The budding romance during the investigation was perfect.

The ease of someone being so deceitful and vindictive, is frightening. This is definitely a topic that needs to be discussed with all ages about safety.

There is a Christian element, but it's minor. I wish it was more a part of the story, and the solution!

The narrator was excellent!

Great book with a problem that is real in society today. Decent character development, narrator was good at altering voices and very believable story line with a wrap up that kept you guessing till the end. I wish some of the police work covered was more believable and complete but this is fiction. Due to the topic covered, I also wish at the end the author had a section on how to spot sex trafficking, web sites or question section. Overall a great story, I look forward to reading others in the series and I'd recommend this book.

Excellent story. Human trafficking has recently been in the news quite a bit, although I think too many people don't take it seriously or think it has been exaggerated. It is sad to think of these young girls being duped into a situation until it is too late. And the kind of animals who prey upon these young women and boys deserve not only the strongest judgment our society can give them, but the coming judgment where they will pay forever.

Texas Ranger Wyatt Sheridan has his hands full! His mother is flighty, his 14 yo daughter is rebelling...and he’s deep investigating a human trafficking ring. In the midst of this, he’s attracted to the woman running a home for teen prostitutes. The trafficking ring is getting closer to home than Wyatt knows...can he save those he loves before it’s too late...and shut down the traffickers?
Good start to this series...who doesn’t love a Texas Ranger?

I didn't like that the beginning. Such a difficult subject. Child prostitution ring, and human traffiking. How someone could do this to another person is just unbelievable! Something has to be wrong with someone that would do this. I love the faith that the characters show. My hat goes off to those who help get these young people off of the streets and work with them to make their lives better! God bless them and their work!
