His gifts help him uncover the hot stories. But his latest investigation will take him inside a sinister world of power and pleasure, alongside a woman who knows how to bring out the animal in him...

Lance Marshall has a nose for great news stories. It's not surprising, since his werewolf abilities allow him to move with greater speed and stealth than any human. Now he's on the prowl outside an ultra-exclusive Washington, D.C., nightclub"The Castle"—a heavily protected building within a forested park. But he is not alone. There is someone else in the woods who wants to get inside the secretive club.

Savannah Carpenter's sister lies in a coma—and Savannah knows that the mysterious goings-on in the Castle have something to do with it. Her wild sister had visited the club several times to partake in some erotic—and dangerous—fun and games, and Savannah wants answers. To get them, she joins forces with Lance, and the two pretend to be lovers to gain entrance.

But the raw passion that arises between them is anything but an act. And the closer they get to each other, the closer they get to uncovering the truth—and the monstrous evil that lies in the heart of the Castle...

Ruth Glick (born 1942) is a best-selling author of healthy cookbooks and has also written dozens of romantic suspense romance novels under the pen name Rebecca York.

Ruth earned a B.A. in American Thought and Civilization from George Washington University and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Although she always wanted to become a writer, Glick was convinced that her lack of spelling skills meant that her goal was unattainable. As a stay-at-home mother, she took a community college course to help her choose a career. The course made it very clear that writing was her primary interest. Glick began writing articles for newspapers and magazines, but after several years decided to try writing fiction. Her first book, a kids' science fiction book, was finally purchased by Scholastic Inc..

Since then, Glick has become a highly successful author of over 50 romantic suspense and paranormal novels. Many of her novels are published under the Harlequin Intrigue line, and in June 2003, she became one of the first authors published under Berkley's new Sensation imprint. Before 1997, she often collaborated with Eileen Buckholtz and Kathryn Jenson.

Glick also is a highly regarded author of cookbooks focusing on healthy eating. She sometimes hires trained chefs to test the recipes that she creates, and makes sure that every recipe is tested at least three times before it appears in one of her cookbooks.

Glick is the head of the Columbia Writers Workshop. She and her husband, Norman Glick, live in Columbia, Maryland, where Ruth collects rocks, and enjoys cooking, walking, reading, gardening, travel, and Mozart operas. They have two grown children, Elissa and Ethan, and two grandsons (Jesse and Leo).

I enjoy a good paranormal romance novel, but I just couldn't get into this one. It wasn't the s&m that really put me off, but more that I felt the story was written solely for the purpose of introducing the dom/sub sex scenes. It's all concentrated around a club where people can go to act out their dom/sub fantasies. While this is great, why ever would these two people need to agree to have that sort of relationship to investigate a newspaper article/murder? It was a very weak premise that could have been pulled off much better. Mostly PWP, with not very good "p". It wasn't a total loss as it got me through a few cardio workouts, but if I hadn't been stuck with the book as my only entertainment, I don't think I would have finished it.

I couldn't do it. I could not get into this book. I love my werewolves and strange going-ons but this was just dreadful for me. There were so many moments that left me: Wait what?
I couldn't get into this because the main male character, Lance was misogynistic, egotistical, and didn't care about if he took advantage of Savannah. It just turned me away so fast.
Even though I tried to gett into the story, the vocabulary threw me off. I kept getting blocked up by words that didn't make sense. My reader ability to get into a book was greatly hindered.

Not for me! I like aggressive, mysterious things, but this was not that.

I'm so glad I didn't pay for this. That's the only thing I can be thankful for because I would have been so mad if I'd spent money. I was pulling old books off the shelves at the bookstore and I got to take any I wanted home free. I regret I ever saw this as I've wasted more than a day and a spot on my reading challenge. Now my % is going to be off and I'm really mad about that.

It was ridiculous that Savannah outran Lance in his wolf form. Even if she is in shape, no woman can outrun a wolf. That was ridiculous.

I'm sick of the sister being killed and the heroine taking up the crusade to find out what happened. It reminded me too much of Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning.Ìý

I found it intensely disturbing when she said her sister's diary stirred something inside her. Ew. That was really disgusting. Esp when she read an entry about the cop role play and the handcuffs. Who wants to read about their sister's sex life, and gets hot from it? That's a visit to a therapist in the making if ever I've heard of one.Ìý

Her sister described wearing a sheer gown that showed her "nipples and snatch." Ew. I hate weird, gross code words for private parts. Why not just call them what they are? It's way better than the dumb words people have come up with. And don't forget "creaming her pussy." That level of crudeness is astounding. I like romance, not filth.Ìý

And hot? This is hot? Her sister sounded like a moron.Ìý

"I did as he asked, standing there with my breasts hanging down and my bottom sticking out." Bottom, what are we, 3?Ìý

"When he found I was already wet, he made a sound like he was hot and satisfied."
That was the third use of the word hot is as many pages. Is that the only feeling you get? Synonyms,Ìýpeople.Ìý

I found it yet more disturbing that his brother Grant and his wife made an appearance and were talking about sex. He touched her nipple and it was hard and I was like why am I reading such details about side characters. I was especially turned off when they were discussing her premonition could have to do with sensuality, "bondage to fear"--nice BDSM reference there--or sexual energy. Discussing your brother's sex life, ew.

I'm so sick of werewolves having breeding problems it's not even funny. Why would they have any problem having kids? I don't get it and I don't like it. Like every single PA book these days has to have women have trouble conceiving, delivering, etc. Only male children survived in here...I was just shaking my head and rolling my eyes.Ìý

I like the life mate concept but it's just been done so much that it's no longer special. This version, though, made no sense and I didn't like it. Werewolves meet their mates when they're in their thirties...okay. How about they meet their mates...when they meet their mates? So if they meet the person who is their life mate when they're in their 20s they won't recognize them as their life mate? They'll need to meet again when they're in their 30s? Or they are absolutely physically incapable of stumbling upon their life mate at any other time except the age of 30? It makes no sense. Who only has one year to meet someone when they've already had 29 years? And at age 31 Lance was past the age of bonding. Such a ridiculous and bizarre rule.

I didn't enjoy this world. I didn't like Lance's job. Journalists are usually the bad guy in books, they do anything to get a story, they're nosy and pushy, and that was the case here. He was following her all over town--albeit there was the life mate bond--to get the story about the Castle. He wore a peroxide-blond wig. That's a bad image.Ìý

Of course Savannah needed to be saved--all women do. She went to a bar her sister had been to and of course instead of getting information to further this plot along, she gets in trouble. A guy grabs her because every book needs one of those, causing Lance to come to the rescue. He told her to get in his car and she did, which was stupid to me to leave her car on the parking lot where anyone could get the license plate at the scene of the crime. (She hit the guy in the head with her gun-and that was a much-needed show of strength). But what happened next just ruined it. I'm sick of the life mate bond causing instant feelings. She was crying and he hugged her and comforted her and the next I know he's running his lips over her and touching her breast and they're kissing and I was thinking slow the freak down. What is the rush? I think this is the only book I've read that the characters kissed and started touching the first time they met. Idc if you're star-crossed reincarnated lovers destined to be together for thousands of years, I don't want you kissing the first time you meet.Ìý

I don't like when authors have the characters come too close to the truth with no evidence to do so. She said he had the instinct of a wolf, and he's a werewolf. That's just too much.

Her dad...it was all too much and the worst possible story. He was controlling and verbally and emotionally abusive, very strict. Of course Savannah was the pleaser, doing everything he wanted, while her sister was the rebel. She went to the college her dad wanted, on a scholarship until he pulled her out and then married her off to someone of his choosing. Are we in the 1800s all of a sudden? And what dumbass goes through a marriage to a yucky older man because your crazy ass dad told you to? Her art teacher convinced her to divorce the old bag and her dad and mom disowned her for it. Who comes up with this crap? Are people really like that? I'm finding this whole story very hard to believe.

Of course Savannah has only had sex with one man, (don't you know women can't sleep with more than one man before the hero? Or else they're a slut..) her husband that her dad set her up with, and he was much older. Ew. And of course she didn't enjoy it and thought she would never feel pleasure. Blah. Blah. Blah. I have read this ridiculously unfair and overdone idea way too much.Ìý
Convenient that Warren, the guy she knocked out at the bar, didn't mention her to police because he bet her last name wasn't the same as her sister. He knew she was Charlotte's sister, that's all they needed, not her last name. And Savannah was an idiot to mention her relationship to Charlotte.Ìý

I was getting so irritated by their effect on each other. He knew he was in deep. She knew her life had already changed. Both thinking about sex. Slow the freak down. I couldn't stand it.

It was cute when he expected her to call the next day and clipped his phone to his waistband, then took it into the bathroom while he showered, and kept it with him as he ate. Wouldn't been better if they had known each other for a while and he hadn't been eating raw steak...

They were kissing, him touching her breasts and crotch, at the public gardens. When he told her to bend over so he could see her breasts I was creeped out. Who gives an almost untried woman a command like that? Like couldn't they find anywhere else in town that was private? Who would do something like that in public?

The sick crap between the older lady and her space fantasies was so disgusting. I can't believe someone actually thought this up and put it a book for the world to read. So disturbing. It's the sordid details like that from side characters that I just don't understand. Esp the content. The guy playing out the slave fantasy and his babysitter when he was 15...spanking him, her "naked twat." That is so gross. The fact that someone wrote this: a sexual predator, having sex with and molesting a 15 year old they're babysitting, like it's a good thing..I'm so disturbed.

The author seems to think that the only reaction you get in the moment is "hot." Everyone was hot, hot, hot. I had to start keeping count because it was so ludicrous. And every woman's nipples tightened, hardened, etc. like that's the only reaction a woman can have. Hot. Check. Nipples hard. Check. It was so gross. It missed hot by a country mile.Ìý

Pg. 118 "she was instantly hot and needy..."Ìý
Pg. 121 "I want you hot and needy.."

Lance made her ask for what she wanted, said they weren't going any further unless she did. I don't like that kind of dominance, esp since he knows she isn't experienced with things like that.
"Touch...my breasts."
"Oh, yeah."Ìý

That made him sound so stupid. And it just got worse.

"My nipples," she gasped.
"What about them?"
"Play with them."

Play with them? What is this, a child with a toy? Could she have found a less hot way to say that?

I had finally had it on pg. 126.Ìý
"The passages were very explicit. Very kinky. And very hot."

There goes that word again. And he's reading her sister's diary about her having sex. He shouldn't have read that.Ìý
"He felt his cock stir. He'd just made love to Savannah, but her sister's descriptions were turning him on again."

F this shit.ÌýI don't understand why this would ever be considered hot but I am blacklisting "Rebecca York" as a sick author who writes crass, rude, vulgar details about side characters. It's a sick world that I don't want to be in. I'll never understand why people write more action with side characters than the main couple but I'm not having any of it. And a piece of advice, saying something is "hot" doesn't make it so. Gosh, I think I've been ruined from ever reading the word hot in a romance novel and if that's the case I'm going to be even more pissed. I am never reading another book by this author again. I don't understand what kind of frame of mind you would have to be in to write this disturbing, sick and twisted crap and I don't want to. I feel like I need to take a shower and wash myself off after coming into contact with this. It's a shame too, because I wanted to see what his psychic sister in law felt from the mating bond, and it was a cute idea that he answered the hotel room shirtless. She said she thought he was letting her walk away or something like that, and he said he was stacking the deck. But I was floored in the worst way that these 2 were meeting up at a hotel to have sex so soon after meeting. It felt like a violation. It had a violating feeling to it and I felt dirty and so grossed out. I had no patience for Savannah and her inexperience, "I didn't like it with my husband, blah blah blah," "never thought I could feel pleasure until you," "I'm a naive schoolgirl even tho I've had sex." Just no. What finally did it was him reading her sister's sex book about being dominated and tied up, which he should have never done. Here's a question, do you want your man reading about your sister's-disgusting-sex life and getting hard from it? If you like your future husband/mate to get aroused from what your sister has written, and you want him to question you about which entry really made you affected, then this is for you. As for me, I'm too sickened to go on. It's a shame because I was really interested to read this because the summary mentioned them pretending to be lovers to get access to the Castle and I thought that could be good. Now I'm sure nothing in this will be good because this is a sick place.

Oh, and that crap about the being living under the Castle, feeding on people's emotions and making them do things, and coming from another world...no. That was a fail. That alternate universe, weird creature thing was not working in this story. Actually, the werewolf thing wasn't either. Idk why he's a werewolf because it isn't working and seems to have nothing to do with the story besides making it easy for him to get around and find leads on his stupid journalism job.

I wish bad books wouldn't have good covers. They should have put something sick on the cover to match what was on the inside.

I wasn't a fan of this installment of the Moon Series. The books is about the investigation of a sex club and most of the story was about (you guessed it) sex. Very little action, as far as the plot was concerned. A few new interesting characters, but it made me wonder: had I missed a book? The "other" world, while perhaps interesting in theory fell flat in the actual storytelling. -- then there were two (more) new characters that we learned very little about and had nothing to do with the outcome of the book... After starting New Moon you learn that she was just setting up for the next book.

This is just not my cup of tea. Unfortunately the story is considerably overshadowed by all the S&M in the book. Too much! I'm have lost my interest in the series. Too bad.

I did not enjoy this installment of the Moon series as much as the previous four. Too much kinky sex, and an other-dimensional psychic vampire ... Really? Well, I guess if I can accept werewolves (and I can), I should be able to accept Boralas, but I REALLY hope he doesn't make a repeat appearance in future volumes.

I powered through it just to get it done. I just couldn't buy into it all. It just stretched way too much credibility. It was all just a wild excuse for sex games. I did enjoy the previous couples from the series showing up and adding to the end of the story.

Pretty ok, but not my favorite in the series. Something intangible, lacking a bad enough bad guy, but somehow feeling like silence of the lambs navigating a house. Unknown.

I’m giving this 4 stars simply because it has a different premise and storyline from the previous books, but the writing details and action didn’t quite go far enough to fill its potential.

Two romances: Lance Marshal: werewolf journalist & Savannah Carpenter: an artist searching for the truth behind her sister’s death. And Erica Wentworth: wealthy widow & Kevin Amsterdam: Castle ‘slave employee and part-time accounting student

Savannah has a bit more common sense (she makes a lot of good decisions) than the average heroine and Lance complements her for that, so they work well together.
Even though I didn’t care for the mild S&M, there are some really great scenes. And even though I didn’t feel a connection between either couples, I did enjoy their adventures

Some of their adventures seemed too childishly simple. There was no real depth to the danger. The ‘monster was corny as was his death. And what was with the other realm scenes? They peaked my interest, but are they a hints at a possible new series?

I’d read the story about Grant Marshal and his pregnant wife Antonia’s story and I’d forgotten some of it, so took me awhile to get my head around them. It’s found in the anthology ‘Cravings. Also I loved having all the previous gang come together for the final battle. It bodes well for the social future of the family.

Quick Thoughts: 1) She says she can’t take her canvas with her because it wouldn't fit. But then how does she get it to her shows and why didn't she just take a smaller canvas for a new painting?

2) I was reading another book at the same time as this one and in both heroes take a gun away from a female who doesn't know how to use it. Kind of a cliche.

3) When she’s making tea at her house she takes down the ‘bag ‘of herbs then lifts the ‘jar to her nose.

Fave Scenes: slave market, Savannah finding Lance’s special tea, Savannah’s ‘scene and Lance’s 1st rescue of Savannah from the basement.

I really enjoyed reading about a 'good' werewolf who has convictions and beliefs and doesn't want to hunt people. The story line didn't say anything about if those bitten would change or if they only were born but it still rocked. I like the way the story held it's own but still referred to the continueing nature of the series. I didn't feel like I didn't know what was going on just because I hadn't read any of the previous books, which let me tell you, is a great feeling. I had picked up 2 books by Rebecca York at the same time and I'm pleased to be involved in the other story now. Some same characters but this time a defferent one in the spotlight. It's wonderful. I am trying not to give spoilers while letting everyone know how much I have enjoyed reading this book. Lance Marshall makes a very believable journalist; Savannah Carpenter is a little less realistic for me but I still enjoyed her stubburn attitude. I really enjoyed this book; so much so that I finished it in only a few days.

Decent read for a werewolf book. Read this before realizing it was part of a series. The pace of the book is pretty fast. This book had a bit of s&m in it, that wasn't too terrible. At times it did become a little corny ,but it was easy to get past those moments. Lance and Savannah are both good lead characters. Definitely must check out the others.

A little over the edge for me in the sex scenes department (probably partly because it was written by my mom--but honestly if I want to read graphic sex, I'd prefer Penthouse Forum), but still a good read.

Held the basic story lines as previous ones in series, but had a bit of a different set pace. In each book, I am learning that you learn a little about the main Marshall character but learn about the family as a whole even more.
