I found myself very curious about the story of Svala and Viggo. I received a copy of this story from a contest so I will be posting an honest review. This is a novella amongst a few of them that follow. Svala is a Liosalfar born mortal as well as Viggo. The High Council pulls them from the life they live and brings them back to the age of 14 years old each time they are pulled. This story gives an introduction to the daughter they have.

Freja by Saga Berg is the great sequel to Nordic Fairies, which I read and reviewed back in May 2011. I also gave this one, just like Nordic Fairies, five stars. I couldn't give it any less. It was really good and once again a fast read. I love this amazing twist on fairies. I love them!

The story continues four months later where Nordic Fairies left off. It's pretty much all about how Svala and Viggo lost Freja, their daughter; yep, they had a daughter! *gasp* It shocked me. I hadn't expected this but I love it, even though it's very sad that they lost her. Awesome twist though. In the mean time Svala is trying to figure out what's going on between Viggo and Amanda Jones, since Viggo is apparently dating her. I'm wondering what exactly he is up to!

My favorite thing about these books are the memories Svala recalls and how she and Viggo have been struggling for so long. So I do hope in the end they can be together without they can be ripped apart for so long again. My heart aches for them.
I love Svala as a main character. She's not whiny or annoying, which is always a plus with characters and she's seems very loving and real even with everything she had to go true.

I was both happy and puzzled with the end where Alrik suddenl showed up. From Svala memeries I've read about him and instantly liked him. I'm wondering why he's there now and if he really will tell Svala the truth.
In the first book I had been wondering about Trym and how he seemed a little off to me. Now I didn't have that feeling so I'm intruiged to read more.

This book was 40 something pages so a really fast story that you can read in record time. In total I think there will be five parts so I'm sure we haven't seen the last of everything yet. I'm really glad for it. Now I just have to get the third book really soon. I'm so excited to continue!

I loved the all the books but I think the author could of made this one book. Most books that have two and three editions are longer. I didn't like the way she had Virgo meet his daughter and granddaughter and then go back in time again at age 14 and freja is there at their school. What happened to the dark side? All of a sudden the story line drops the whole mystery of what's going on with Viggo and the secrecy about their daughter. One chapter they are on tv and the next they are back in school. Nothing is said of the girl in the prison how he gets out. The whole he may go to the dark side story line is dropped. Something was missing in this whole story. She builds you up for this whole dark side mystery thing if they disobey and then nothing. I was disappointed how she just cut the story off. She didn't fill in the plot very well. Then the next chapter they thought the daughter died but yet in the previous chapter Viggo sees her on tv. So the story line doesn't match up. I feel I was cheated on the story and being less than 300 pages and having. To pay for 2 other books instead of one. This could of been one book .

I have not yet read the last part of this series but I feel like it would be insufficient to all the tension, drama, and whatnot that’s been building up right now.

As for Freja, I love the story. When I first started reading this, all I can think of is how easy it would be to create my own novel. Sure, Freja has its weaknesses, but it inspired me to start writing again. I’m sure that I won’t be writing in the near future though, but I was really tempted to do so a while ago.

There’s actually a lot to learn in this series and everything you do learn is always interesting. What I don’t like is the shifting from past to present. There would be times when I’m so caught up in the past that I get annoyed that the perspective changes back to the present so suddenly. I’m used to it by now but it still gets on my nerves.

What this story lacks is action, although I guess not all stories have action in them. It’s just that there’s too much potential in the story that I’m sad to see that it is not quite manifested yet.

Again,I am depressed by the fact that this is a novella series. It's just too short. But I've got to admit, the author sure knows how to surprise her readers.Freja was so not who I thought she would be.In the first part, the author leaves us in a cliff-hanger with Freja's identity a mystery. And here, she reveals that identity in the most surprising way ever. And within the entire forty-three pages of the story, she also decides to create a bit of what you would call an about to be love triangle situation for about two pages. Now that's what I call impressive! If only she made the book a bit longer.I'm too scared to touch the third book 'cause I feel like it's going to end with yet another cliffhanger and make me burst into tears. But then again I know that curiosity will always get the better of me and the fact that I never learn from my mistakes.>.< Oh well, can't wait to start reading the third one now that the cliff-hanger's practically eating up my brain!
Happy reading to me! =D

I had a few minor concerns about Berg being able to live up to the promising start that was the first nordic fairies novella. But after finishing Freja, the second installment in the series, all of my doubts were banished, and I am now hopelessly addicted to the series! In my opinion Freja was even better than the first novella in the series. Not only is the transition from the first novella to Freja seemless but the plot develops wonderfully. This novella goes into greater depth as to what it means to be a Nordic Fairy and places a larger emphasis on character development (a.k.a. you get to learn more about the intriguing romance between Viggo and Svala!!). In total Freja is a must read for any fans and sceptics of the first novella, and anyone who is looking for a way to break out of reading the vampire/werewolf young adult trend.

I knew that as soon as I finished Nordic Fairies #1, that I was going to want to read the second one right away. Especially with these stories being novellas, I just buzz right through them, and they just leave me wanting more!!

Definitely love the story line, but like so many good novellas, it's way to short! Saga Berg has a smooth writing style that flows well and gives you a great feel for how Salva and Viggo have suffered through the tragic events that have happened to them. Looking forward to keeping up with the series.

Freja is just as spell binding and heart wrenching as its predecessor. Only this time there is more passion, more mystery to be unraveled and a twist to their story that adds even more depth. Unlike most of the light two sided stories you're reading, Saga Berg's "Nordic Fairies" is the meat and true romantic grit you've been looking for.

Loved it loved it! Very creative.....these stories are like nothing out there ! This is not another tired vampire story! A question is posed in the story and then slowly answered ...the end totally unexpected.
