Attacked by a wolf while hiking in the mountains, Anna Avery's life just got a little hairier. Living in the Big Horn mountains in Wyoming, with a group of werewolves who are more animal than human, Anna must try to hold onto her human side. It's not easy when the alpha continues to persuade her into his bed, while another wolf is chomping at the bit to become her mate. To top it all off, dead bodies are showing up and it just so happens that Anna was the last to see them alive. She'll have to work to prove her innocence and taming the wolf who bites first and asks questions never.
Stephanie Nelson resides in Illinois with her husband and their furry children. She began writing five years ago as a hobby and quickly fell in love with storytelling. She’s been teased about being a vampire due to her night-owl ways. However, she claims to only write about the fanged and not be part of their ranks. When she’s not working on the next Gwen Sparks or Anna Avery adventure, she enjoys: reading, traveling, playing the Wii and spending time with her family. The best part of her job is connecting with her readers.
This was one of those books i almost stopped reading. In my romances I have strict rules of monogamy. Once the leads meet I do not want to see them near anyone else. This book is difficult to figure out who you want Anna with, the fun loving Sawyer or Alpha Adam. The problem with Adam is he already has a mate. I am seriously against cheating. The excuse that it is the nature of their wolves does not fly with me.
I really wanted to stop reading at many points. but pushed on through, mostly because i did not have wifi and that was the only thing on my phone that was available for listening. I also really enjoyed the narrator.
This book has open bedroom door steam. The problem is the heroine hooks up with two separate guys. It just felt like cheating and using the one guy to make the other jealous. I was not at all happy with that situation,
There were many things going on the plot and loose points in the world building. If this is intended as a series it will be interesting to see how it progresses.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Rebecca Cook, who does a wonderful job of keeping the listener engaged. It was her great read that kept me with this book. Her pace was great and she had a wonderful energy. I think I will look for more of her reads. I really enjoyed the tone of her voice.
In the end I was entertained by this series and liked the out come. I would love o see a book for Wade or Sawyer. They were dishy and caught my attention!

I bought this book for my Kindle yesterday and I finished it today. I just couldn't put it down. I loved every second of it.
The action started from the very first page. Anna is bitten by a werewolf whilst out jogging in the mountains. The book then skips three months ahead and we discover that Anna is now living in Adam's pack and learning every day what it really means to be a wolf. But Anna has more problems than your average new wolf. The natural instinct to submit to their Alpha seems to be non-existant for Anna and she is pushing Adam to his absolute limit. He makes it very clear that he wants her and will do whatever it takes to get her.
"What about me, Anna? If I was to offer myself to you, would you accept it willingly? Do you crave me?" I think I may have stopped breathing when reading this scene. Adam is a seriously powerful guy.
No matter how hard he persued her and tempted her, Anna never gave in. I respected her so much for that. "Put me out of my misery and give into me Anna." *fans face*
I did feel a little sorry for Sawyer. He's a really great guy, sweet, caring, sexy and flirtatious. He also sadly starts to fall in love with Anna. Sawyer and Anna were set up by Adam who thought that seeing her happily mated to another wolf would cool his flame for her. His failed miserably... "Does he satisfy your inner beast the way I do?" he kissed me hard. "I'll have all of you, Anna, and make you forget him."
Sawyer, thankfully sees through Adam's plan and the way Anna looks at him and knows that he can't compete with that. So he calls it off with Anna before anyone get's hurt.
Adam and Anna's relationship was beautiful to follow. I loved the storyline of the 'chante', the fact their connection wasn't just attraction, but so much more. "I deserve you, Anna, and you deserve me. I'm sure that if fate made it to where we could be together, our love would be so fierce they'd talk about it for generations."
I also liked the fact that they weren't perfect. They had their problems and they worked them out, together. 'Adam stopped me. "Anna, I love you," he blurted out. His words were perfect, but the situation was all wrong.'
Anyway, I will stop there and end this review by saying that this book was so much more than I expected. There were so many twists and turns and the author did an icredible job of making me second guess very single decision I came to. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good shifter story, with an unbelieveably sexy Alpha male.
I so love werewolves. I dare say that Stephanie Nelson has written a book that I might like as much and maybe more than Patricia Brigg's books (which are what started my love of werewolf stories). The start of this book explains how Anna Avery is turned into a werewolf. I have read some stories where werewolves cannot be made, only born, but this takes on your standard idea that if you are bit by a werewolf, you just might turn into one. I say might because the magic in the bite might not find you worthy and you will probably die instead of be turned. Anna is attacked while out running and Adam, alpha of her new pack, finds her almost dead on a mountain. Being the newest wolf in the pack, Anna is the bottom of the totem pole and given the daily chores that are necessary to keep the pack running smoothly as well as hidden from human society. She struggles with dealing with humans for no known reason and is therefore isolated from all human society as a safety for them as well as her. The biggest issue that Anna has is that she cannot bring herself to be completely submissive to Adam. She finds herself daring to look him in the eyes which no one is supposed to do. He catches her doing time and time, but doesn't punish her for it. Curious? I think so. Anna struggles with other acts of submission because she actually feels that she is equal to her alphas when she has only been in the pack for three months. She attributes this to her youth and that she just hasn't learned her place yet. Eve, the alpha female pretty much treats her that way too, but takes it as her place to put Anna in her place. This is the source of conflict in the story. I am not going to say how the conflicts takes action, but lets just say that Adam's fondness of Anna is at the source. It was an amazing book that I read in less than 24 hours. I just couldn't put it down and I really can't wait to see book two! The characters are fantastic and Stephanie Nelson's descriptions of the pack's lives leaves you with such a clear picture of what is happening that you will be so engrossed in the story that you will feel like you're a part of the action. LOVED IT!
Since I am writing this less than 24 hours since it was first available on Amazon, I think it is pretty safe to say that this book is an "I can not put this down" read. I love shifters and read almost anything I can get my hands on that is shifter related. Reading as much as I do of this type of book, I find that I often end up reading the same story over and over again. I do not overly mind that because usually there is a spin in there that makes it interesting enough to enjoy it. What was amazing refreshing about this book is that it was no lat the "same old" were story I have been reading lately. Did the "love story" arc fall into a fairly predictable pattern? Yes, but that is why most of us read them. We like knowing it will somehow work out.
I think what I found most refreshing about this particular were story is that it showed the animal side of a were. It was not simply a person who looked like a wolf or vice versa. This side of them made each of the characters quite interesting. I have to admit, one of the were's I thought was going to turn out to be one of the "bad guys" was not. I love that I was surprised by that. I also loved that even though this is number one in a series, this is a complete book in and of itself. It is not a cliff hanger where you feel like you only read half the book. I will definitely be recommending this book to friends and keeping my eyes peeled for the second book in this series. It has the potential to become one of my all time favorite were series.
When Anna Avery, the lead character of Taming the Wolf by Stephanie Nelson, is attached by a wolf during a hiking trip in the mountains, her life goes from relatively normal to incredibly complicated practically overnight. If you’re thinking “that must not have been an ordinary wolf that attacked poor Anna! you would be correct. It was a werewolf, and a particularly nasty one at that. Anna was left for dead, but her intense will to live and overall strength saved her from a horrible end as decaying bear food to be stumbled across by another unfortunate hiker.
Fortunately Anna is discovered by Adam, the Alpha wolf of a nearby pack. Unfortunately, Adam is mated with a royal rhymes with snitch, Eve. Also unfortunate, Anna can’t seem to get a handle on her new feelings, and she has a bit of a problem with authority, which earns her a few embarrassing episodes with the Alpha’s teeth around her throat.
Anna’s lack of ability to conform causes her more trouble when dead bodies start turning up and the werewolf bigwigs think she had something to do with it. To make matters more complicated, Anna develops feelings for her bossy Alpha, and he for her. Throw a third, really sweet werewolf guy into the mix and you have a bit of a love triangle. Just a bit though, as Nelson isn’t out to make us suffer through an entire series of “who will she choose?
I love that the main character of Taming the Wolf is such a strong one. Anna doesn’t take crap from anyone. She doesn’t submit easily, even when her wolf side insists she should do so. She spends a lot of time fighting against the wolf inside and trying to retain the parts of herself that make her who she is. When her wolf is telling her to jump in the sack with Adam and enjoy a bit of fun, Anna holds out and refuses to just be another notch in his belt. Yes, there is a healthy dose of “adult situations in this book, but they’re all very tastefully written.
Which brings me to my next point: this is a grown-up book. With so many YA books written on the paranormal (don’t get me wrong, I love those too), it is nice to have something that was written for someone in my general age group. Fine, Anna is much younger than me (she’s around 22, the age I jokingly tell people I am for the 15th time, or is it 16th time now?), but she’s still an adult and makes adult decisions.
I read Taming the Wolf in one night because it was captivating enough to keep me going. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series when it comes out. If you’re looking for a grown-up werewolf tale, I highly suggest checking this one out.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. It was actually #5 on my TBR list, and I don’t know why I never got around to reading it. The plot was fun, at times funny, and all together unexpected which is what I love in books. The two main characters had some serious chemistry, and there was even a love triangle in there for a while.
Anna is a newly made werewolf, who was attacking while jogging in the woods. She is taken into a pack, and for now is at the bottom of the food chain. Now I want to say that I admire that Anna accepts her place at the bottom in the pack, and though she admits to making mistakes and stepping out of line, she is working hard to be a member of the pack as well. Throughout the book however, it is clear that while she has accepted her fate as a wolf, she also is still trying to live as a human, by human morals and standards, and there are some pack traditions that she neither understands nor respects. But I loved her all the same, she was giving and kind, and she knew that though she didn’t have much to do with being what she is, she embraced it the best way she could. Her relationship with Sawyer was forced at first, but it grew to be such a real friendship. Elle was a a true friend who wanted to make Anna feel at home as much as possible.
Adam pack-master, was great, so domineering and still, there were moments in there where he was so kind and considerate and sweet. I admire that he at least pretended to not be attracted to Anna, but I didn’t like that he pushed her onto Sawyer, and then tried to make her sleep with him. But once he and Anna realized that they had something special, it was so beautiful, I really enjoyed their short but sweet time together. I loved that Adam could speak to her telepathically, I think it made their relationship even stronger, and more fun.
All the wolves were fun, and I have to say that I almost didn’t finish because of a plot twist that I didn’t see coming. But it was fantastic! I loved everything about this book. I highly recommend it, and I can’t wait for the next installment.
I snagged TAMING THE WOLF quite awhile ago when it was free on Amazon and I guess I really didn't know what to think about it, but I loved it! I've recently become obsessed with shifters/werewolves (I blame it on two specific ladies) and Nelson did not disappoint! The minute I finished reading it, I called my cousin and got her to read it too. After a few days, we sat around the house fangirling over Adam.
And there's SO MUCH to fangirl about!
I enjoyed, most of all, the twist in folklore and the daring scenes Nelson brought to this series. After reading hundreds of books, your taste starts to change and when you read that ONE book that hits the mark, you're so sure you're never letting it go! TAMING THE WOLF hit home for me -- I loved Anna's personality and her badass exterior. The very smoldering scenes between her and Adam were just HOT HOT HOT! Literally, someone needs to add a CAUTION sign to this book. Just so HOT.
The story line of the book is rather smooth, and smooth in the way that I didn't expect what happened to happen. I was really left with an open jaw by the end, my heart practically dangling from a line as I flipped pages. And, side note, this just isn't the kind of book you want to be reading when your kindle dies on you. I threw a fit for all of five minutes before I found my charger and started reading again...
And when you dive for the charger, you know something's good!
The love triangle? Oh, gawsh. Someone get me a drool bib! Nelson really kicked it up a notch with this new series and I've learned the second installment will be releasing in March! Think I can wait that long? Hell no. Am I going to try? Of course -- with eager anticipation!
I snagged Taming the Wolf from the Amazon free list because I wanted a bit of titillating fluff and that is just what I got. Anna Avery is exceedingly strong-willed and having trouble adjusting to her subservient position as a low-ranking werewolf. However, the males of the pack seem to enjoy the challenge she presents.
I thought that the book felt very much like a lighter . The use of the aggressive alpha male (in this case also the alpha wolf), the strong bonding, the incorporation of the characters' scent into their attraction (though that's to be expected from a werewolf), the fact that the characters mentally stated "mine" in much the same manner, and the use of odd punctuation, such as She.is.mine., to make a point explicit. Despite the similarities the story does stand on its own two...uh 4 feet...er paws.
There were a few editorial issues, most common in the sex scenes (or sexually tense scenes). I could almost imagine some poor editor blushing through them without enough attention to detail due to their own innocent embarrassment. I can often overlook such things, but in the middle of the most pivotal points in the book makes it difficult.
I read it in an evening and despite not generally enjoying first person or present tense narratives I don't consider my time wasted.
This book sure needs editing. It would also benefit from some fleshing out of both the characters and the background story. Adam in particular did not have a lot of depth, and frankly I didn't like him very much. In the beginning, he appeared shallow, arrogant and egotistical, and even though his character evolved by the end of the story, it just didn't feel very credible. Having said all of this, however, the underlying story was definitely imaginative and interesting, and it had me ignoring my other tasks until I finished it. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars rather than 4 is because I think it could be much better if the author bulked up the story by adding some much-needed details and insight into the characters and hired a good editor.
First off, let me say that I am generally not as much of a fan of werewolf paranormals-they just don't usually get my blood going. That said, Taming the Wolf was a fabulous book! I really meshed with Anna and I loved experiencing her entry into the wolf pack right along with her. And did I mention how super hot this book is? The chemistry Nelson creates in this story is sizzling. I highly recommend it and I can't wait to read more in the Anna Avery series.
Quick reread to clean up the review. (I remembered nothing of this even while rereading)
The blurb sets this up, Anna is a newly turned wolf that is struggling to find her place in her new pack. She finds herself drawn to the alpha, Adam, but he is already mated to Eve. 😖 For his part, Adam is equally obsessed with Anna, but he can only offer her sex. She’s not really down with that, so she pursues things with Sawyer.
Most of the book consists of Anna and Adam fighting their feelings and trying to figure out who is killing humans. From a safety standpoint
Bottom Line- This was ok but not great. I’m just going to remove my rating if it’ll let me. It has editing issues. The storyline doesn’t make sense at times, and making the h act TSTL is used as the plot device to introduce the action scenes which I dislike. This doesn’t really end in a cliffy, but it looks like there was a second book that sort of shit all over Adam and Anna’s HEA and that book ended in a cliffy that was never finished.
REVIEW: I was looking for a new author and missing some great werewolf paranormal romance, luckily I stumbled upon Stephanie Nelson and so glad I did. The first book in the Anna Avery’s series digs deep in how a pack functions, as well as follows a newly turned wolf who has to deal with being a female in a pack who has a low number of them. There is some mystery; lots of tension, great secondary characters, and of course some smoking hot romance that will have the reader needing a fan.
Taming the Wolf follows Anna, who was a victim of a “random wolf attack, of course not being a normal wolf. She has now transitioned her life into the pack, being at the bottom she must earn her keep by doing the pack chores. But when she starts getting visions of local towns people being murdered and discovering their bodies have been found, she is put in a tough position in her pack. Is she the murder? Luckily she has the support of her friends, one whom she is possibly going to be mated too, as well as the Alpha whom is making it hard for her to say no too.
Anna is a tough girl, who is treated by some in her pack like she is weak. But they are very wrong, not only can she look at her alpha without the feeling she need to look away, but she puts the boys in their place when they try to earn her as a mate. I haven’t read a werewolf story that focused so much on how the packs function before; it was actually refreshing to see that. The rules for female are a little one sided and more for the men, but they still took care of each other. Anna has some great chemistry with another pack member Sawyer whom her alpha chooses as a good match. But nothing can top the connection between Anna and her Alpha Adam. In the end Anna has to not only choose where her heart wants to follow but what her dreams mean about the murders. Are they really dreams or is her wolf controlling her? My only issue with Anna is that she gave up too easily when the evidence was pointing to her, I wished she would of tried to defend herself a bit more.
Adam is one heck of a frustrating and hot alpha; he has a soft spot for Anna. Though he always seems to be annoyed with how much she doesn’t follow the rules, he just can’t help but be attracted to her. The only problem is that he was chosen by his father to mate with another female for an alliance. His mate Eve is one mean and spiteful woman, who treats Anna harshly. Adam and Eve have no spark and no love but they rule their pack with respect and protect them all. It was interesting to see Adam pursue Anna, when it is against his pack rules but his wolf and heart knew what they wanted.
Overall there is a mystery going on, the murders are putting Anna in the spotlight of the leaders, now she has to find out if she guilty. I felt bad for her because she just doesn’t know what’s happening and she has to deal with the frustrating men in her life along with it. Lets just say everything connects to Anna and how she was turned in the beginning. Murder, revenge, lots of suspense, and adding in some romance, makes for one great paranormal romance.
RECOMMENDATION: This is an adult novel with lots of sexual content that is for mature readers. If you’re a fan of Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series or Larissa Iones Demonica series, you will love Taming the Wolf by Stephanie Nelson
Anna Avery has trouble adjusting to life as a werewolf. Although she enjoys some of the benefits of the supernatural lifestyle, her humanity looms close to the surface. Her life is made more difficult by the murders she keeps dreaming about. And why does her wolf feel so much aggression toward humans? It quickly looks as though she is responsible for several deaths, despite having no memory of committing the crimes. She is horrified to learn of her involvement and wants to take responsibility for her actions whatever the personal cost.
To complicate matters more, her uncontrollable attraction to her married Alpha puts her in more danger with his mate. His reciprocal attraction makes being around him all the more difficult. Every situation leaves us wondering how she will possible get out of the mess she finds herself in.
Stephanie Nelson brings the reader in and keeps them guessing, along with the protagonist of the story. Is she really killing innocent people? And is she destined to become an adulterer against her will?
I can tell you I couldn't put this book down. This was my first wolf novel but I am more intrigued with the genre after reading this story. The author makes it easy to romanticize the werewolf life with appealing characters and their commitment to the pack.
The main character, Anna, is easy to like and root for. Her determination to hold on to her values and take responsibility for her actions is engaging. You want her to be innocent and hope for her exoneration.
The setting within the werewolf pack is enticing. Being surround by a group that protects each other, works together and supports the whole community is missing in our current culture. It is attractive to get lost in a group dynamic like this and want the connection it provides.
Overall, this is a great book. I would recommend it to 18+ readers who enjoy the paranormal genre.
Let me start off by saying I am not a huge fan of wolf shifter / werewolf books, mainly because they are often filled with characters who just want have sex with anyone. (By the way, what is with that? Are wolves naturally sex crazed animals?) It's not the sex scenes I have issue with, it's the lets just sleep with anyone and everyone. So for me to like a wolf book there usually has to be something unique about it. However, I decided to read Taming the Wolf as I have read and loved Stephanie Nelson's previous books.
Taming the Wolf was a really easy read, with likable characters, and a storyline that moved quickly. However, the story was predictable and did not hold any surprises, the bad guys were obvious and the outcome expected, but it did keep me engaged and I wasn't bored while reading. The relationship between Anna and Adam, though also predictable, was hot, and their connection was intense, and yes the sex is what I have come to expect from werewolves. On a positive the book does not end on a cliff hanger, and in terms of future books in the series there is the possibility of some interesting storylines for the secondary characters and maybe they might play a much bigger role in the next book.
Taming the Wolf was everything I have come to expect from a wolf book, so if you like wolf books I recommend it to you and you will probably enjoy it. However, it did not have that something unique for me and was just a `same old same old' story that was an easy read. Will I read it again? Doubt it
Lisa's review ofÌý Taming the Wolf By Stephanie Nelson
I was given a copy of Taming the Wolf by Stephanie Nelson for an honest review. ÌýLet me tell you I loved her Gwen Spark series but this book beat them all it was FABULOUS I am definitely a Team Adam and Anna. ÌýPoor Anna was thrown into a life she never knew existed by two heartless wolves. ÌýBut she was given a place in the pack by Adam the alpha when he found her. ÌýWanting to teach her the ways of living side by side with humanity she is thrust into situations that threaten to tear the world up around her. ÌýHer life is placed in danger many times and you come to immerse your selves into each of the characters finding qualities you either hate or love. ÌýThe story is fast paced and definitely unable to put it down I am definitely looking forward to book 2 Embracing the Wolf. ÌýI also have to say that Stephanie does all her own covers and they are AMAZING. ÌýPlease check out her other books you will not be disappointed. ÌýCraved (book 1 in Gwen Sparks series), ÌýDeceived Ìý(book 2in Gwen Sparks series), Ìýstory in anthology Cupid Painted Blind and soon to be released Coveted ( book 3 in Gwen Sparks series). ÌýI just love reading this author.
OK, first thing I have to say, Caterina, you were so right! I really enjoyed this.
I liked her character and the way a lot of the emotions were expressed. I have to say, I also like her paranoia and the jealousy that she felt towards her perceived rival.
The continuing dynamics and interactions were really well done and merged into the story with verve.
Jealousy is often completely illogical and totally irrational. For myself, you know you're being over the top, but are powerless to stop yourself (a bit like PMS!). I went absolutely through this once (only the once...?). Anyway, a couple of years later we ended up staying with my arch rival when we were in Germany. And yes that is a 'we'. When we talked together during that stay, she actually had a wry grin and grimace and said to me "I'm so sorry, I was such a bitch to you". When we left she gave me a great gift of a book that she had inscribed a message in the front. She's such a beautiful girl and really great fun. Definitely the best long legs I've ever seen. Hence part of my jealousy. Ho hum. Sadly enough, within about the next year or so, she got MS, which she still struggles with.
Back to the review after my lengthy but superb digression. A good read and I can't wait to get into the next one.
The "Taming The Wolf" by Stephanie Nelson is the first book in the "Anna Avery" Series and it starts with Anna being attacked by a wolf while hiking and so turning into a werewolf. She lives in the Big Horn mountains in Wyoming with a group of werewolves and trying to hold onto her human side. In this book we have Sawyer, a wolf who trys to become her mate, and Adam, the sexy hot alpha who continues to persuade her into his bed as well. To top it all off, dead bodies are showing up and it just happens that she was the last to see them alive. She has to prove her innocence.
Let me say that I read all Stephanie's books ("Gwen Sparks" Series) and loved them!! So, I was a little scared about starting a new series by her...honestly I dont know why... Anyway I finished this book in a day, I really enjoyed reading this....it's a hot sexy fast paced story.
I love the "Gwen Sparks" Series and this new Series definitely doesn't disappoint!!
I received this book for a fair and honest review. This is the first book in the series.
This book is the type that you want to curl up in your favorite reading spot and close off the world until you are done reading. You don't even want to worry about having your favorite beverage because that would take away from reading.
Anna is adjusting to life now as a werewolf. She is a headstrong independent woman that doesn't always follow the rules. Not only is Anna trying to adjust to her new life, she has a bit of a love triangle thing going on.
Anna has to fight to prove she is not responsible for the humans being killed recently. Things aren't always what they seem.
Stephanie Nelson is a very talented author. This book is about Anna adjusting to being a werewolf and all that goes with it. It is also about the 2 men that are eager to become Anna's mate. Stephanie has the ability to vividly describe the love scenes without making it turn into smut.
When Anna Avery is attacked by a wolf, she thinks she is dead only to find herself a wolf shifter and the low man on the totem pole in her pack. Anna knows there is quite a bit she doesn't know about being a wolf, she also knows that some of her behavior is not standard fare for a wolf.
Alpha Adam has made his intentions clear, he wants Anna in his bed. Anna though resists him every chance she gets, she doesn't want to be a mistress to a man who is already mated, despite how badly her wolf wants it. With another wolf wanting to mate her, Anna finds herself torn between wanting the Adam who is untouchable and embracing Sawyer who wants her as his mate.
I picked this up and then I put it down...at the end. I was completely blown away by this story and it had a twist that left me acting like a fish opening and closing my mouth in surprise. Anna kicks ass and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Taming the Wolf is about Anna Avery being attacked by a werewolf, and now she's one of them. She's a neebie to her pack so she has to stay away from most humans, and she has to do lots of jobs for the pack. She is the lowest on the totem pole right now.
She also has this weird connection to the Alpha. After being in the pack for three months he starts to tell her he wants her. Things start to get a little crazy for Anna after that when lots of humans turn up dead by werewolf, and she's having dreams about killing them.
This book is good. It's not the best werewolf story but I did like it. I did get frustrated with stupid Eve. I really wish she wasn't in the picture, but I was glad for what happened in the end. I do want to read the next book in the series, and I can not wait for it.
Awesome book!!! I love all of Stephanie Nelson's books. I love everything werewolves and this one was great. I loved how the relationship developed between Anna and Adam. I also had a soft spot for Sawyer. He grew on me too. There were some twists and turns in there that had you on the edge not knowing what was going to happen. Especially when Anthony came into the picture. I was feeling really bad for Anna during those times. But again, I loved it.
Hot & Steamy. Just like with Craved, Stephanie Nelson pulled me into a time and place that I didn’t want to leave. This book goes from steamy hot to so funny I was laughing out loud. I couldn’t put it down. Romance, action, suspense, drama, and lust (not you’re momma’s kind). Be prepared for an exciting ride with some great characters that you won’t easily forget. I can’t wait for book 2!
I rather enjoyed the book. I really do enjoy shifter books, especially if the main female character is a shifter too. Love the animal instinct part. There was a few sex scenes that were pretty hot. Not a lot of action but just enough to get the thrill factor going. I will continue the series eventually, but it isn't high on my to-read list. The second book is rarely as good.
This is the second time I have read this book and am happy to say I still love it. For me though it ends on a HEA and I am going to stop there. I'm not a fan of to much drama or messing with my happy ending.
I listened to this via the Audible romance package. Overall I really enjoyed this book, especially the first half. I'm a fan of love triangles, so the Adam vs. Sawyer thing was fun.
Anna did get progressively more annoying as the book went on. I don't like heroines that behave irrational to the point of stupidity. Her inner dialogue actually says at one point, "Logic told me that if I shared this with Adam, he would understand and help me, but when did I ever listen to logic?" 🤯🤬 It felt like she was trying to give women everywhere a bad name.
When the book started out, she seemed like a strong, independent female lead, but the more involved she got with Adam, she just became this weak little girl. She doesn't fight for her life, doesn't even once believe in her own innocence in a terrible crime, doesn't have any faith in her relationship with Adam despite him proclaiming his love at every turn.
The audiobook narrator didn't help much with making Anna sound remotely intelligent, either. Her speaking voice was so weird and whiny compared to her inner dialog/basic narration voice. I'm kind of glad that the remaining books aren't available on audible, forcing me to read them in print. Hopefully it will improve my impressions of certain characters.
The last few months have been challenging for Anna Avery; first she’s aggressively turned into a wolf, then she falls for the handsome pack alpha, Adam Everwood. Despite being the lowest wolf of the pack, Anna still doesn’t have a submissive bone in her body. A trait that has her in constant trouble and in the alpha’s sights.
Fate couldn’t be crueler than making Adam’s fierce mate and the rest of the pack notice Adam and Anna struggle against their attraction. Yes, it could! Adam orders Anna to find a mate then promptly pursues her himself as Anna learns her roommate is gay and finds Anna attractive as well.
Now dead bodies are turning up and Anna’s the likeliest suspect. What’s worse is Anna’s had dreams about the deaths and isn’t certain she’s not responsible. Adam’s torn between his desire for Anna, tradition that as a purebred werewolf, Anna cannot be his mate and his duty to the pack as the things comes to an emotional head.
For my taste the pacing was a bit slow, the ending a tad rushed and I would’ve preferred more action. But the characters were likable, the story conflict and resolution were both very good. This is a new to me author but I am anxious to delve deeper into the series. Rating: 4stars
Anna is attacked and is turned into a werewolf. She leaves her old life behind and joins the Everwood pack. She clings to her humanity while getting used to the urges of her wolf. While fighting her feelings for her already mated alpha and figuring out if she could be happy with nice guy Sawyer, she is understandably stressed. When humans start dying and she becomes the prime suspect, well things get even worse. Anna doesn't believe she would kill anyone but her vivid dreams have her questioning if maybe she is guilty.
I actually loved this. I thought Anna was a great character who didn't take the easy path and stuck to her guns. I got attached to Anna, Adam, Sawyer and Elle and felt all of the tension going around the pack. I maybe would have like a little more werewolf information but overall this was very enjoyable.
