Bonnie Winn's fictional little town of Rosewood, Texas, gets another new neighbor in Emma Perry. She's now in the Witness Security program (presumably the real Witness Protection Program would sue if their name was used) and on the run from a dangerous arsonist who torched her house and killed her family. She has a deep faith and compassion for others and reaches out to her neighbor, Seth McAllister, a contractor who agrees to help Emma with her new costume shop. They have both loved and lost and we know that they're going to get together in the end, but Winn skillfully shows how difficult it can be to open your heart once it's been broken.

Her world shattered by tragedy. Emma Perry thought she'd never survive the murder of her husband (Tom) and her daughter (Rachel) due to a fire set by an arsonist, let alone her faith and her ability to trust. But the Witness Security program took her to Rosewood, Texas, a caring community and belief in God gave her strength to rebuild her life. And the compassion to reach out to others - wounded souls like Seth McAllister, Emma's embittered neighbor, who was struggling with the death of his own child (Davy) to leukemia. Together, Seth and Emma began to open their hearts to love. But when the still-obsessed killer picked up Emma's trail, would Seth's prayer's be enough to pull them through.

Although both of their hearts are scarred, it doesn't mean they are wastes. Once they are protected by love and caring, the old scars will become the strong connector that connect both the hearts together.

I was hooked from the first sentence. I couldn't put this beautiful, heart-rendering story down. The characters were well developed and I was rooting for them from the beginning.

It is a really interesting novel .. I usually do not like romantic books but this one attracted my attention and encouraged me to read it till the end.
In some parts I felt some unneeded stretching.

Heartwarming tale of a woman in Witness Protection hiding in a small town who starts falling for the new man next door. Just enough suspense to make it interesting but mostly just a charming story.

I love Love-Inspired books! Bonnie Winn's Protected Hearts does not disappoint.

A tragedy beyond words forces Emily Perry to change her name and relocate. Having closed her heart to love and scared for her safety, the last thing she wanted was a man in her life. Her neighbor Seth McAllister becomes a huge part of her life. God changes their hearts and then, together, they face a scary situation.

If you enjoy inspirational stories, this one's for you. I haven't met a Love-Inspired book I haven't loved. Hopefully you feel the same way.

I enjoyed the book and can't wait to read the rest of the series. It sounds like some of the characters have been introduced in another book and some of them sounded familiar and others didn't so I have to research and see if they have books of their own.

The only problem with this book is it ended too soon. It wasn't an abrupt ending - I just wanted more story after that ending.
