Dear Author, What could possibly be more erotic than brushing your teeth together after a night of hot celebration sex? He's just said "yes...I'll marry you," and they could not stop finding ways to express their joy with every bit of their bodies.
PHOTO DESCRIPTION: Two men are sharing a moment of domesticity, standing side by side, brushing their teeth together.
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love is Always Write" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
Elizah Davis has lived in various parts of the United States, but currently resides in the Pacific Northwest, enjoying the abundance of coffee readily available there. She earned her degree in creative writing after she realized journalism involved too many facts and not enough unicorns. She loves stories of all kinds, but has a particular fondness for romance and fantastical adventures. When she isn’t busy making things up, Elizah enjoys reading, laughing at cats on the internet, buying girly shoes, and trying to come up with world domination plans that don’t require the donning of pants (her endeavors towards which have thus far been unsuccessful).

My Review: I posted the photo and the prompt that Davis used to craft a 4,200-word slice of life featuring two men, sure their relationship is right for them, living through the day after the Big One: Marriage proposal made and accepted.
It's so very lovely. It's obviously not about anything more than the experience of love, love as it's lived in real life, every day bringing a memory of another day, and good days outnumbering bad ones. It delights me to read about the quotidian happiness of men living together, being together, being...to their own surprise...happy.
I really liked this story, in spite of the fact that (a) it's sweet and fluffy, (b) it's about an established couple, and (c) it contains several flashbacks. Those things usually bother me, but they didn't in this instance. The dialog is funny and believable, and the characters are lovable. A good mood-booster.
Adorable story about a newly engaged couple as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Much of the story is told in flashbacks, but it gives readers the opportunity to learn more about Noah and Aaron and some major events in their relationship. Very sweet!
Think about a romance novel with no angst. None whatsoever. You know what happens? it's pretty short! But besides being short it's also adorable, sweet and kinda romantic. That's Noah and Aaron's story.
They must have had angst, arguments, disagreements, times they weren't sure about themselves, or one another but this short novella isn't it. It's just them. Being together, reminiscing about how they met, how things worked out and how they are now truly on their way to Happily Ever After.
How could anyone ask for more?
This novella is a part of the "Love is Always Write Vol. 3" of the M/M Romance Group in GoodReads [Read it for free from the link above. You probably need to be(come) a member for that].
OHHHHHHHH, AHHHHHHHH This book does it for me, I mean who can express present and past events with such an ease that you can feel yourself dwelling in both the times at the same moment. The characters though are fictional but they seems so much like idealistic couple goals. The book transcends how love is shaped from literally nothing into something that is so precious to us. The storyline completely grips me into the loom of feelings and stitch me even more closer to the couple )
I really liked this short story of Noah and Aaron. I know others have complained about the shifting time frame and non-linear story but I thought it fit the story really well. I liked the trips back into their memories - seeing each other at a party, a blindsiding blind date, etc. I thought it all fit really well and I just really enjoyed it. I hope to read more from this author.
This good have been a really good story if it was told chronologically.
Instead it's just a jumble of scenes that it jumps between. Not sure why authors think a jumpy time line is so creative for story telling. It isn't, IMO at least. And I know a lot of readers that agree.
2.5 stars Rounded down cause the jumpy timeline gives you whiplash an for me a headache
An absolutely charming story! I love that these two guys aren't perfect; don't have a perfect script to follow. They came across as real guys, in a real relationship, that was...good! Made me smile the whole way through!
This story is only 20 pgs. but I'm the slowest reader on earth. It's a delightful account of an engaged gay couple and everything that lead them to where they are today. Noah and Aaron are wonderful characters with a wonderful story. Enjoyed very much!
Just a sweet, funny glimpse into Noah and Aaron's during a day in their lives when everything changes and they reminisce about what lead them together.
“From this moment, life has begun. From this moment, you are the one...From this moment, as long as I live I will love you, I promise you this...From this moment on." ~ Robert John 'Mutt' Lange; Shania Twain
Making a promise to marry someone is a big deal, even if you've been together for a while. In 'Firsts and Forever' by Elizah J. Davis, Noah and Arron start their first day as an engaged couple. Although he means the proposal to be 'romantic', Aaron doesn't quite know how to pull it off. When he finally blurts out: “Marry me? Noah does his best to smooth things over with the easy banter in which they normally communicate. Noah's only question is: “Did you really think I'd say no?
With that hurdle behind them, they start reminiscing about the 'firsts' in their lives that brings them to their present commitment: the first time they meet, date, kiss, etc., describing the memories in flashbacks of the actual events. Some are funny, sad, and every emotion in between, but through it all, it only reinforces that, from this moment on, everything, for the rest of their lives, will be faced together.
This is a well written, endearing story of two men, very much in love, who take the time to remember the circumstances that brought them together. It's fluffy and sweet, and is guaranteed to make you say: “Awww! Thank you, Elizah, for the feel-good story.
The fact that I am rating this book 2 stars bothers me but I have to say that the book would have been sweet, sappy, and cute but it was all over the place. The book should have been told chronologically instead of including flashbacks. They ruined it for me.
This was sweet and romantic. The flashbacks were well done, nicely providing Aaron and Noah's history while telling their current story. The perv in me likes more sexy scenes in my M/M romance but this book was enjoyable nonetheless.
Firsts and Forever was a great story by Elizah J. Davis. It was a quick read. It is a M/M Romance that follows a couple after becoming engaged. There is also some flashbacks to when they first met. I thought this was very well written and a great story.
Nonlinear story line is great when it doesn't distract from the story, which in this case, unfortunately, does. The short-story format doesn't lend opportunity to do it right.
