BIG FAT SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!

Just a little heads up, I'm in total mean mode. If you loved this book, don't read this review. I thought this was the worst D/s story yet.

This was an exercise in utter aggravation. I kept waiting for it to improve but nothing doing. I finally got to where I couldn’t stand it and started fast forwarding. Fifteen minutes…“he licked her nipples; ten minutes…”nipples; twenty minutes...”she licked his nipples (ARRRGGHHH!!) Forty five minutes.”he gasped when she licked his nipples(Holy mother of hell!!!!) Two hours worth of story and all I touched on was nipples and the occasional moist folds. I. Kid. You. Not! This book was 10% plot and 90% of incongruent, bad sex. When I finally forced myself to listen again (I didn't start skimming until I was about 65-70% through) they would speak two lines and then start screwing for fifteen minutes. If it was hot, maybe I could’ve stood it, but it was lame, fake, wannabe BDSM that was just laughable.

This dude was no Dom. I kept wanting to yell, “Hey you! Hero dude! You don’t deserve your leather pants! He was the most wimped out, wussy, whipped, pseudo-dominant (small “d intentional) I have ever had the displeasure of suffering through as a book character. Betas and Doms just don’t mix well. It kind of defeats the whole concept of being a Dominant if the guy’s a big, anxious woobie.

The heroine was one of those ditzy ding-heads who would take what some stranger said as gospel and then refuse to speak to the person who she supposedly loved and trusted. She then had the audacity to be pissed when he jumped to the wrong conclusion based on her asshole behavior. When she showed up with a crop to “punish him, (he ruined her career by refusing to give her a reference. This is after she dumped him without saying “boo, so who could blame him?!) I just couldn’t take any more and dropped it. I’ll try to go back and finish (hear “skim through the rest) and let you know if he ever grew balls or if she ended up wearing the leather pants in the family.

ٱ

Oh! Oh! I should’ve quit while I was ahead. I went back and skimmed through the last of it. I went ballistic when the crop she brought left red hearts on his ass. (What!?!? Uuuuggghhh!!) He calls her mistress, gets down on one knee and proposes, and gives her his multi-billion dollar company to run to make up for being a jerk when she took off without a word. I wanted to throw up in my mouth. Talk about false advertising.

”His to Command. Feh!

It was just too cliched and predictable and I am glad I didnt go for the drip feed of 6 books. However be warned this Kindle version is almost 11 quid and for that price I want something more, something different. Thsi is not a new story. Been done so often, familiar plot and familiar outcome.

**3.5 stars**

I ended up really liking this because there was an actual plot - which is a lot of time nonexistent in erotic romance. You see, the heroine, Kate falls into a submissive relationship with Matt but being a modern woman and all, she's not comfortable with the idea of submitting to a man. This forms a wedge in their relationship until something happens that breaks them apart.

I like Kate's struggles and her bafflement at herself that she would be into such a thing. I also liked that Matt wasn't so in control, which is how Doms are portrayed most of the time. Yes, he was in charge in the bedroom but he was so hurt and baffled that the woman he loved pretty much ghosted him. When they see each other again, he learns why she broke up with him - the poor guy didn't even know! - and she learned he wasn't the monster she thought.

I even liked the "groveling" scene at the end. I would have thought that what she asked would have been a difficult for Matt but he didn't even hesitate! He was definitely willing to do anything to get her to forgive him.

The love scenes were plentiful and hot but beware, the language is very porn-like so instead of finding it sexy, I found it laughable. I think this wasn't helped by the narrator, who portrayed the love scenes as if she was starting in a porno, instead by two people who were crazy in love with each other.

This is a very short book but with lot of sex and ligth BDSM scenes and not very dramatic!!! And that's the good part, because the story and the characters are very predictable. However, and because it is very short, is a good book to decompress!

I wasn't nearly as impressed by this story as I have been others by this author. It nearly lost my attention entirely within the first section. But I kept on and it got more intriguing though the BDSM rules were not very realistic at all I'm afraid. The sex was hot but this was role playing, not lifestyle behavior. I did enjoy the ending.

Kate is a professional business woman. She moved to a different to start her life over. She is also looking for an investor for her company so that she can buy her partner out. She never thought that her past would come back to haunt her. She also never thought that she would still have feelings for the one man who broke heart.
Matt is a computer tech. he started his new business and while waiting for someone caught a glimpse of a woman from his past. He never thought that he would see her again. And he never thought that he would still be in love with her.
The first part of the book was more about Kate trying to avoid Matt. She did not want anything to do with him. She just wanted to forget her time with him. She felt that she did not need another broken heart. Matt just wanted to know what actually happened between them. So she tried to hunt her down. Kate did her hardest to hide from him. But in the end he caught up with her. And told her he would not let her go until he found out what happened between them.
Since Matt finally got Kate to sit down with him and talk; he suggested something to help her find her new Dominant. He offered to teach her everything she needed to know to serve, and at the end of their time together they would both go their separate ways. With that agreement they both tried to keep their feelings for each other from each other. But at the days progressed and Matt tried to stay in Dominate mode, and Kate tried to stay in submissive mode, their feelings for each other surfaced once again. They both tried to ignore it but in the end their feelings for each other were stronger than their wills.
This book gave differences aspects all on one book. It gave the Dominant/submissive angle and it also gave a real relationship angle. I was completely entranced about how the characters dealt with their past and their present relationship. By reading this book, the past always comes back to the present. Even if a relationship ends, there is no telling if the people in that relationship will ever run into another again and still have those same feelings for each other.
I have always loved reading books from this author. She has a way of making her female characters down to earth and with backbones. She also has a way of making her male characters extremely hot and makes you with you had him in your life instead of in a book. I actually think that this book became my favorite of all of her books. I cannot wait for another book by this author to come out. I am counting the months until then.

**This is a Window Seat Blog review **

I really liked this book! It's the first by Opal Carew that's I've read, and I definitely plan on reading more by her! Originally, this book was released in six parts, but I bought the book in its entirety. While I can see where it would have been split into sections, I'm glad I read it all together. And I literally did. I finished the book in a day. I loved Matt and Kate, as well as that we were able to see into both of their minds. The pieces of their story were believable, and it was understandable where they were each coming from. The outside forces that tore them apart...anyone would have fallen for it, and it was very well thought out. The only issue I had with the book was how Kate accepted herself so quickly. The second he says he'll give her a week to help her, all of a sudden it's almost like she's not afraid at all. Her fear had a lot more to do with what happened in the past, and I would have liked to see her tackle her own insecurities a little better. However, the ending was amazing, and I loved that the tables turned and we got to see that she could step up and he wasn't afraid of stepping into the submissive role for a change. It really showed that he never had any intentions of controlling her, as well as that he wasn't opposed to switching it up every once and a while. Control freaks aren't my type, so I was glad to see he wasn't one. It made their love feel more real and solid. There was enough throughout the book to keep my interest, and the sex scenes were well written. I found another book by Opal Carew and plan on reading it as soon as possible, that's for sure. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good read with steamy scenes and complex characters with internal struggles.

I’ve avoided this one for the simple fact it was released as a serial. I hate serials. I will never understand the logic behind releasing a book chapter by chapter and making readers wait between releases, especially when you’re dealing with avid readers.

I love to read. I read almost a full novel every day (when I have the time), so to wait for months to get to a new chapter is just silly. It takes more than a few chapters to capture a reader and make them fall in love with your characters. If I stop and read forty or fifty books between the chapter releases of a serial, I no longer have interest in the story. The only reason I even gave this novel a chance is because it was completed and released as a single book on an audiobook site I subscribe to. Overall, I enjoyed it.

I can’t say much about the characters, there wasn’t anything that set them apart for me. For me, this was just a light, easy read that killed a few hours.

This book was so bad! I hate when a story starts at the 3/4 mark and then just gives us limited back-story.I have trouble connecting to the characters. Why wouldn't you rather read about 'the meeting','the persuit',& 'the catch'? Why should I feel any connection to characters when I didn't get to be drawn into their relationship as it happened?

I can't even remember names of some of the characters today & I just read this yesterday.
It was predictable and the had too many sex scenes.I don't need all the sex details each & everytime they 'do it'.Sometimes having a little bit of storyline helps keep our intrest.

After all of the running away & not talking out their problems she is still keeping secrets because she is "afraid of his reaction" in the last chapter. Will they ever learn? At this point I didn't get to know them enough to care.

This is the first installment in a serialized novel. Kate is a modern business woman. She has a secret. She has left the man she loved because he was a Dom and she found herself wanting to submit. It scares her how much so shes run to a different state and started up a new business. Only now it seems her past is about to catch up to her.

This is a short novelette. Just a tease or hint of what is to come. Fans of Opal Carew know it will be hot and steamy. I can’t wait for the next installment.

My thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the early peek and a chance to review.

I'm very glad that I read this book in it's entirety because it would have driven me nuts to have to wait for each book. This is a story about how communication is the key to all relationships. Without it, there can be years of regret. Matt and Kate's story tells of love finding it's way back....

Not good. Made all the worse by a car narrator. DNF after a few chapters. It was just poorly written. Awful dialog. Wish I hadn't wasted a hoopla checkout on this.

His to Command is a spicy romance containing drama, business, and hidden secrets. The story begins with our lovely, dominant small-business owner, Kate who moved from New York two years ago. Sadly, all of the drama she left behind and has come to chase and haunt her new life in Connecticut.
Throughout the story, drama unfolds with lots of romanctic scenes alongside of scenes placed with her best friend, Ellen. While reading, I did cry a few times, as the book is quite the rollercoaster. It definitely doesn't follow the traditional romance novel plot which is quite exciting for any romance readers.
In the story, there aren't really chapters. Just sections. Along with that, the book seems to change POV from Kate, to her ex-boyfriend, Matt. It's quite hard to tell with both of these when the point of view is changing, and the amount of time passing. Along with this, the book has a business theme and background, and though the businesses are talked about, the book doesn't really detail us even a little on what any of these businesses really are, which disapoints me.
The book is great for YA and A romance readers. Especially for those who like to see some difference from the tradition written style.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and how unique is was. But due to the random POV changes and the long chapterless sections along with my disappointment in the lack of the business world, I will be giving the book a three of five stars.

DNF at 65%. I wanted to dnf many times before, but kept pushing forward. This is not the first book I read by this author, and every single one has the most annoying FMC known to man. They’re so whiny and pick me and all of them drown in a glass of water over everything. The plots never have even a facade of being realistic and I want to burn my eyes and ears everytime I read or listen to her books. No more for me.

Oh, also the narrator mispronounces “areolas as “oreols

Read if you enjoy annoying books.

DNF around 33%

I obviously didn't expect a literary masterpiece here, but something light and easy to read (or rather listen to.) I was looking for an audiobook to listen to while multi-tasking that I didn't have to focus intently on.

This was awful. Maybe it was because I was listening to the audiobook, so it made it sound even cheesier? I don't know. I expect some amount of cheesiness, but I couldn't take any more and shut it off.

Not good, seemed like I was reading a book way into a series. Mismashed and disconbobulated writing, boring MCs, sex was good if a little porny (lots of oh yes oh yes, fuck me). Also, BS about the main lady, whose name I can't remember, saying how could she submit fully? Oh I can't its not right, I need to get the upper hand.

I've read this one a long time ago,but it was memorable enough to write a review.
The book took a turn I wasn't ready for,and was tooooooo good.
I was shocked to death. I latched on every world.
The story was so addicting.
It was the only book I've ever read that had threesome,AND of course I wasn't expecting that either.
It's a must read book.

There’s no backbone in the male or female characters in this book, someone betrayed the dom who is supposedly a friend?? There’s oh okay, and just let’s it go and constantly blaming the female, sorry.. there’s allot missing and very irritating. This is supposed to be a bdsm book?? No more like male playing to a wannabe dom. I have read better

I liked the story line and how he fought and tried to control himself. Some scenes were very intense and extremely explosive. It's good to show that not all Dominant men are perfect nor messed up. It's all about the power exchange

I like Opal Carew, but I was not impressed by this book. While some of the scenes were well done, so much of the characterization seemed arbitrary. On top of that issue, the narrator's voice made the MFC seem even more childish than her behavior.
