I'm sorry but I have to give this book 1 star.

It was sooooo dramatic. Every page had to have some massive drama on it.

And as for the rape storylines.....how many times does one girl get or have an attempt of rape made towards her??

It was like the writer felt it was getting dull so just threw another rape attempt in there.

One or 2 rape attempts was believable but seriously does this girl have a voodoo pussy that no man can walk past without attempting to shag it?

All this book did was wind me up from start to finish which was a shame as I didnt mind book 1 but this just became pathetic.

Jesus, I'm exhausted after reading this book

Mason and Ava's bipolar relationship is worse than the back and forth between volatile teenage couples.

Flashes of the dramatic moments between Ron and Sammi on Jersey Shore were going through my head

But multiply that by 100

At one point I imagined bashing their heads together to relieve my frustration

Not that there weren't plenty of entertaining parts, 'cause there were. This book doesn't only have drama. It also has humorous and hot parts

Ava: I wish she'd make up her mind about Mason

Mason: I wish he weren't so weak as to need cocaine

Me: I wish I could bash fictional characters' heads together

Well this was definitely the best of the three books, but still frustrating I mean really again the constant sexual infatuation of Ava from every man she meets was just over the top, again hot steamy sex scenes but probably too many, and coming from me that's saying something, but there were moments in this book that did make me really feel for Ava and Mason, but really it should have ended at 2 books, no one should go through what they had and not be traumatised. Best writing in the book undoubtedly the Christmas chapters.

After finishing this and the third book Resolution I'm brain drained!

I don't know where to start with this series, almost every page has had epic dramas. I think every imaginable scenario is in it. I am torn with my feeling, I love and loathed it. Some things really go against the grain for me and yet I still couldn't stop reading it.

Gonna give the three books an overall 3*

Edit: This is the first book that has prompted me to learn how to add a

So as we delve into book two of this trilogy we find again that Ava has the most rotten luck or bad karma surrounding her.

Ava's relationship with Mason is indeed toxic, they crave each other yet they destroy each other too. And it's the suspense of this that keeps you hooked into the story, wondering what the heck is going to be thrown at them next. The relationship between Rebecca and Mason too is the catalyst of Ava's misery and what pushes her into situations and the consequences thereof, I thought what she did for Mason over this was great but I couldn't stop the nagging feeling that hey Mason is a powerful man why the hell hadn't he thought of doing what Ava had done?

And I have to say if I hear Mason say 'I'm so sorry' once more, I think I will give him a punch to the jaw too! That's one of my little niggles, the repetitiveness of Mason's constant apologies, dont' you think after the first dozen he would have got with the program! Oh and if Ava keeps on turning to the vodka bottle and drink as though it's her saviour I'll chuck the bottle at her! I don't feel her need to get drunk so often is a good call from the author, it's not great to depict that to others that that is a way to deal with things. Oh and the over-eating, man I felt that was over the top too!

There's still a lot of 'erm's' in this book and yep they still annoy me too, I also sometimes struggle with the characters and how they are depicted, one minute they are strong, resilient and the next they are indecisive or making (or not as the case may be) decisions that are frustrating.

I still think of these books as in a 'raw' state and that if an editor got hold of them and made adjustments and certain bits be rewritten or even pulled this would be without a doubt an excellent trilogy, but as it stands it doesn't quite make the cut for me to call it excellent, but it is indeed entertaining and worth reading.

Anyway, as annoyed as I get with bits within this trilogy I can't help but be drawn to find out the story and see what unfolds. So onto to read book 3 and see how their story gets wrapped up.

I am totally hooked on Mason Fox and Ava Stone story. They are like a time bomb, I have already lost count of the times they have broken up and get together, some reconciliations I do not understand or share ( I would have already burned Mason’s bed, and when you read this book you will understand why), but Mason knows how to work for it.
If Mason Fox already in the first book does very shitty things in his relationship with Ava, in this book he surpasses himself. As much as he says he loves Ava, he does nothing but tear her apart, he breaks her heart once and a thousand times. He leaves his ex fuck buddy Rebeca pregnant but he can’t get over that Ava has sex with Kade (Ava and Mason are not together in that moment), so they break their engagement.

“I missed his husky voice, his soft whispers of love and passion as his warm breath brushed against my skin. I missed his beautiful smile, the sexy little grin he would give me; the one that lit his whole face as his eyes twinkled and my heart would double its rapid beats. I missed his touch, the whisper of his fingers across my skin that would leave a trail of sparks and heat in their tracks. But most of all I missed his love. I knew that my betrayal with Kade had destroyed everything inside him, not just his trust and confidence but the pure, immeasurable love he had had for me. I didn’t blame him, not at all; I had done this, I was the one that had taken his heart and smashed it into a million fragments so brutally and cruelly. I knew he would never be able to look at me the same again, would never be able to hold me and never be able to trust me, and what was a relationship without these things. I will never forget the hurt, pain and utter devastation on his face the night of our engagement announcement; his hand reaching out to me as the pictures of mine and Kade’s lovemaking were reflected in his eyes as his soul viciously and agonisingly ripped in two. I had broken three hearts that night in the pool house; mine, Mason’s and Kade’s. I had heard he was back with Rebecca and that hurt, it hurt so damn much. She was an evil, manipulative bitch who was just after his wealth and power. I was frightened for him, knowing she didn’t love him made me sad and I knew he used cocaine when they were together.

Mason can’t forgive Ava but he does not know how to live without her, his comings and goings are constant. Mason is an addict and Ava is his favorite drug.
“I need to smell you. I need to taste you. “TELL, he rasped as he slammed into me and I yelped. “ME. Slam . . . Yelp. “YOU. Slam . . . Yelp. “LOVE. Slam . . . Yelp. “ME. Slam . . . Yelp. “AVA. Slam . . . Yelp. “I FUCKING LOVE YOU! I screamed as I climaxed powerfully, every nerve ending in my body crying out at the surge of bliss. “I LOVE YOU AVA! he roared as his own orgasm tore through him violently. He cried out with each fierce spurt as his hot spunk hit my insides.

Ava is not very well in the head bc after everything Mason has done, she continues to accept it and coming back to him again and again.
“My man was back, back beside me and back inside me, and I was fucking delighted.”He sat up and pulled me up so I was kneeling in front of him. “You are so beautiful Ava. Unease surged through me as I caught sight of his sad painful expression. “From your soft curls. He stroked his fingers through my hair. “To your smooth pale skin. He trailed a finger across my shoulder blade. “To your delicious breasts. He brushed his thumb over the swell of them. “To your striking green eyes. He kissed each of my eyes. “To your remarkable heart. He leant forward and kissed my heart, then sat back and cupped my face. “That is why I’m setting you free.”“No, Mason . . . NO!”“I don’t understand. You came here Mason! You made love to me damn it!”“I needed to make love to you for one last time, baby he breathed as he cupped my face. I “I needed to make love to you for one last time, baby he breathed as he cupped my face. “Goodbye, Ava. Remember I always love you, he wept as he stroked gently across my stomach and left me; left me to slide to the floor, broken and dead inside.

I am going to give you an example of what Ava overlooks for love and believe me that it is one of the smaller things.
“You’re mine Ava and I will never let you go. You are so fucking beautiful, Ava. So fucking amazing. So fucking hot. So fucking delicate and so fucking mine. He placed a finger over my lips. “Listen to me Ava. His voice had dropped to the level when I knew not to argue with him. “I AM going to marry Rebecca and I AM going to have an affair with you, he whispered, “because I can’t stay away from you; from your beauty, your laughter, your smile, your sense of fun and spirit, your insolent mouth and your amazing body. It’s you that makes me whole, Ava. Don’t ever think that I love Rebecca but I WILL marry her just to keep you.

“It doesn’t matter, what is important is that YOU should have told me but you just took the coward’s way out again and got fucking high! What were you going to do? Just fuck off out there without telling me again! I slammed, shaking my head in disgust. “I have dreams Mason . . . dreams of you and her. . . . I can’t get passed that, just like you couldn’t get passed Kade but the thing is . . . I saw you, I watched you fuck her in fucking ecstasy Mason. I heard your moans, saw your hands all over her . . . and I will never, never get over that . . . I wanted all of your pleasure Mason and you gave it away . . . threw it away. . . . Not this time Mason, I won’t let you hurt me anymore. I pulled back and regarded him. “Please Mason, let me be. I can’t look at you without seeing that . . . that tart on top of you, your fucking face contorted with absolute pleasure. Your fucking hands all over her tits. I can’t get it out of my head! He looked down at the floor. “I know, he said simply and I gazed at him gravely and agonized. “Let me go before you crush whatever I have left Mason, please, I begged with a sob. He looked down and gulped but nodded marginally and walked over to me. He cupped my face and placed his mouth against my forehead. “I am sorry Ava, for everything. I love you more than life itself and I’ll never stop loving you . . . never. But you’re right, I’m no good for you, I can’t seem to stop hurting you and it’s killing us both. He gulped and sighed tremulously. He gazed at me for a few moments, his eyes full of despair and grief. “I love you, baby, he whispered as tears streamed both of our faces. He placed a gentle kiss on my brow and turned to the door. “And me, you Mason, I whispered as he shut the door quietly behind him and I sank to the floor.

And despite everything, it happens to me like Ava, I will need more, I keep coming back for more Mason, so let’s go for the next book and I’ll sleep another day.

Oh my oh my oh my....where do I begin.....I'm honestly lost for words as I'm unable to give this book a rating....this review is not simply for this book but for the entire trilogy as I find it imposible to rate each book on it's own....I'm not going to recap the story here u will find out what happens when u read it..what i will do is try my best to explain my feelings and the emotions i felt while i was reading this book....I both loved and hated this trilogy at times...i was frustrated to hell and i screamed many times....there were times i actually thought that the author was probably a schizophrenic! the emotions the main characters displayed were extreme and changed rather quickly...one thing that irritated me was how every man who came into contact with the heroine seem to fall for her like some kindda spell....there were times i felt the story took on a labyrinth feel and i fought to get out the maze...are u confused by my review...well trust me it's quite fitting for this book...having said all of that i could not put this book down no matter how hard i tried...i stayed up to 4am for 2 consecutive nights and there were many times when i would say that's it i'm done but 5 minutes later i was reading the book again and so it went until the very end...at which point I said halle-frigging-lu-jah!!!!! lol personally i think the author is a crazy genius and a little bit cuckoo(no disrespect) love it or hate it I'm giving this book 4.5* frigging fleeping stars...because as much as i tried and believe me i tried and usually if a book annoy me i would simply stop reading but with this i simply couldnt....so go ahead read the trilogy and make up ur own mind!!! :)

Thera a few things that have annoyed the hell out of me about this book. firstly, how Ava goes from being unbearably shy to screwing mason and telling him exactly what she wants, with no build up to it it just kinda happens and I don't find it believable. There was just something not right about that. Secondly, she goes from never having a relationship, then she falls for mason ... But then she seems to screw every single man she comes in to contact with. Again this wouldn't happen! Te relationship with Kade... Seem to me like it was a one night stand and then all of a sudden he was in love!! Same with the security guard!! What the heck ! This books needs an editor to go over it and get but rewritten and a background for the relationships built up, would make it a lot more believable! It's annoying cuz other parts of the story are really well written! And Mason only ever seems to say he is sorry... There should be more of a background to mason to... Although I guess it is meant to be from Ava's point of view...

31/2 - 4 stars. I would have given this book a higher rating, but I felt there was actually too much drama. I'm a sucker for drama, but there comes a point when you ask yourself, how much more can a person take? I also can't seem to get around the two big no-no's of romance in this series as well, which is rape and cheating. Yes, both of those things made your heart break for the characters, but it just made me so angry. And maybe that was the author's intention. Anyway, I still really enjoyed this installment. Mason sacrifices everything for Ava in this book and she does the same for him. Their family is ripped apart, but their undying love is so fierce, you want to keep reading to see how they overcome their odds, and Ava makes damn sure they do. But just when things seem to be settling down, a violent act shatters their already volatile relationship. At this point, I just want the freakin' HEA because I don't know how much more I can take!

How on earth Ava survives each day I do not know, why does she attract the monsters? Any sane person would question that, surely no-one can be that strong!
How can Mason make this right? He should have finished it when he had the chance, now they're all suffering, Courtney and Greg too ... onto next instalment.
Gripping and highly recommended

It's jam packed full of twist and turns.
And just when u think that ava and mason jeez even kade can finally be happy this author manages to through a spanner in the works, keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat the whole time.

More twisted love courtesy of our ever delightful hero and heroine. During one of his coke and alcohol fuelled benders Ava catches him vocally enjoying a blonde, for Ava this is far worse than the photos of her and Kane in the pool house that her stalker shared.
Ava finally gets to the bottom of why Mason keeps going back to Rebecca and turns the tables with the help of William at the black panther.
If I am confusing books I apologise, but to be honest between the timelines and the cliffhangers my brain is in meltdown!

Well these two characters are together, they are apart, they are together, they are apart. The back and forth started to become irritating. And again, still didn't really like these characters (and honestly I guess I think they deserve each other!). So another cliffhanger. Will I move on to the next one? Still not sure.

Every time I think they can't mess up more than they are now, they go ahead and truly surprise me! At this point, I don't know who to be mad at, so I choose the whole lot of them.

I still would like to know what kind of illegal activities Mason, Sam and Greg are involved in and if it is as serious as it seems. Or maybe they are just so cocky that security of family and friends is the last thing on their minds. Which is it? Cause I am dying to know!

And Nate? I have no clue what all of this has to do with his company, because this is the NSC Industries series and nothing so far, apart from Eva's job, connects with the place. It also seems like they all run in the same circle, but then the buck stops there.

I am trying to figure out if the writer is just trying to find ways to lengthen this series, because it seems bad things just keep happening repeatedly for no good reason. I only hope the next book in this series has Mason's POV, because I would love to finally hear from him, as well as, there is no way with the end of this novel and the beginning of the next, that we can spend it constantly in the mind of Ava. Hell, I'm about to have a nervous breakdown for her!

So the gangs all back, even the dead ... yup, the dead -_- It seems Mason is a terrible pansy who can't get nothing in this life right. I really hope his next life is better, because he has a terrible one now. Not to mention Ava.

Get a sex change Ava! Because her vagina seems to be filled with sugar that's calling all ants to attention. What is wrong with this character? I have to ask. She is either always being raped or almost raped. Is that the only way men in this book know how to overpower a woman of her caliber? Because the chick knows how to and frequently throw down with the biggest and toughest of guys.

All that is left, is for her to be gang raped and I don't put it pass the author to get that in the next installment. These characters have been through the ringer. Please just give them a break already! I don't think we stay happy for a complete chapter in this novel. I also notice that the hearts on the cover of this series seem to crack more as we go. What will the end result be? Death by love?

I understand and all consuming love that drains you, but this is just so wrong. Give us a romance already!
At this rate, Ava soon won't be able to even use her vagina! It might be torn to threads. Graphic yes, but how many times will this girl get raped?

Bringing a pregnancy in this book is a shock to me. They are so dysfunctional I don't even wanna see them as parents. They already use the kids as bargaining chips. We aren't even gonna get into the amount of alcohol consumption Ava did while pregnant. Stop apologizing to the kids and shape up!

While this is not the best or worse of stories, I just want it to end already. The constant abuse from both Mason and Ava and even recently Greg and Courtney's relationship is tiring and just pure evil. I feel like a kid purposely popping off the heads off my dolls when I read this. It is utter and complete torture what these characters do to each other.

But here is where the hypocrisy comes in, because I love it! This is raw, primal and so real. Parts even remind me of my own life and struggles with relationships. But boy do I feel it for all the characters in this novel.

I still don't know where this story is going and with regards to editing and development of both a story line and scenery, we still haven't gotten either. But boy am I hooked and I just really want a slice of happiness for these two. Pass off the gauntlet to someone else and give them some peace already!

Ava is one of the strongest female characters I know. After this series, I will definitely need some sweet sappy romance to balance out the crazy that is this series and it's characters that are full of piss poor luck!

Bring on the crazy, I can't wait for Resolution!!

Oh geeezzzz my of my where do I begin??? This is Ava and Masons story continued and man their story is one hell of a ride on the most scariest thrilling and intense roller coaster ride of emotions ,,, I thought the previous book was intense, full on, angst filled and gripping ,,,, then I read Tolerance ,,, and it just got better ,,, these books are NOT for the faint hearted,,, they are an amazingly intense series of stories and are full to the brim ,,, horrifying, heartbreaking, fear inducing, and thrilling ,,, you couldn't really ask for more in a book

So this one starts right off from where the last finishes ,,,,

Let me ask you this ,,, what would you do for the one you love??? How far would you go to protect the one you love??? Would you hurt them and break the knowing that was the better option??? How do you live a life without the one person that you want? That you need? ,,, welcome to Ava and Masons world

It seems as though the love these two share is not something the world seems to be happy about ,,, no matter how hard they try things always seem to happen ,,, to get in the way of their HEA ,,, is life destined to keep them apart? Life and the world may not want these together but you try telling that to their hearts!!! Rather you than me :)

Ava has got to be one of the most intense main female characters I've ever read about ,,, her background story is one of the most horrific ,,, yet she is still stood tall ,,, still fighting her corner ,,, BUT there is only so much any one individual can take before they snap ,,, has her time come to finally break or will she keep on fighting??

Mason is one major Alpha Male ,,, he is totally possessive and dominant ,,, he loves way too fierce at times ,,, he makes mistakes ,,, he is human I get that but this guy has some issues that he needs to deal with ,,, these issues are taking over him he is losing control ,,, he makes some terrible choices but mostly for good reasons ,,, he is intent on protecting what is his ,,, but this isn't always possible ,,, but I get the feeling that Mason is not the kind of guy that sits back and do nothing

This is a journey between two people both strong and hot headed it's full on ,,, it's intense ,,, it's down right bloody brilliant

Highly recommended

The continuing story about Mason and Ava's highly dysfunctional relationship. This book contained some new drama between Mason, Ava and Rebecca which was due to some blowback from the first book. And we get more Kade. Ugh...don't even get me started.

Here's how it went: 'I Love You (insert Mason/Ava/Baby)'; incident; breakup/'we're done'/'get out'/'don't talk to me'; make-up sex; REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT.....REPEAT.

Really, how much drama can happen in less than a year between these two? I did not think it was possible, but Ava was worse in this book. How many more beatings/rapes can Ava endure? Mason's weak factor hit an all time-low. 'I'm so sorry Ava'. 'I'm so sorry Baby'. Ugh!!! He lost his alpha-male title from me. Why is Kade still here? Mobster? Seriously?

Rant:

A new (or old) threat was introduced at the end of book. Thus setting up for the next book. This series has been exhausting reading. It will be a struggle for me to continue.

Why Not 5 Stars?
Editor please. So many mistakes, it was distracting.

The main drama was swiftly taken care of towards the end. There was not much in between with clues as to what happened or how they were fixing the problem.

Too many 'break up to make up' scenes. Multiple, repeat, repeat, repeat. I started skimming so it became boring.

Drama drama and more drama. I don’t know how much more Ava can take. The crushing passion that is Mason and Ava would make a sane person go bonkers. Ava is a true warrior and probably the most brave young woman out there. The pain and suffering that is called love for them is just over the top and crazy for a lack of a better word.

The drugs that is taking over Mason is beyond crazy and no one wants to address it , they act like it’s not even there. When Mason is being blackmailed to be with Rebecca but hides that part from Ava. He still continues to pursue and state he undying love for her. Of course she believes him but how much pain and suffering can this girl take? Kade is one hot piece of a man and evokes a fire that is known to anyone that is next to them. A part of Ava wants to be with him but when you give your heart like she did there is no one that she wants to be with and that is Mason.

I was thrilled when she had happy healthy babies and I wished so badly for her that she would be able to have happy times and Mason would give up the drugs because he wants to be there for his babies but the darkness that is her past never stays. She knows this herself and Dane comes back from the demon vengeance that he lives off of and is hell bent of destroying anything and everything that puts smile of the face of Ava and Mason.

The darkness that surrounds Ava is never ending. The ending of this book grips you and you feel the pain and burn from it all.

If you are bothered by cheating, drug use, rape and violence, this book is NOT for you. Please read the author’s warning before you give this book a try.
This review may contain slight spoilers, if you have not read book one of this series please don’t read this review.
This Book continues on Ava and Mason’s story. A very Dark story of two people who love each other but can’t seem to find a happy place. Ava goes through so much shit in this book it is unreal. One of the only happy things to happen for her is the birth of her twins and even then she has complications. She is raped, and the rapist gets away AGAIN. I can honestly say her babies really do pull her through a lot of dark times.
Mason is a roller-coaster ride in this book. He is up, he’s down, and he’s all around. If he could go to rehab and get off the coke he would not be half bad. Don’t get me wrong, he loves her, and tries to protect her but their where times when I found myself screaming at him through my kindle. Again, the best thing he gave Ava in this book was her children, and even then he almost failed at that too.

I don’t want to give too much away, so I am going to just tell you in order to understand this review, you will have to read the series for yourself. Let’s hope things get better for Ava in the next book, but by that cliff hanger, I imagine things are going to get A LOT worse before they get better. Let’s hope she makes it through in one piece.

I'm just amazing that D. H. Sidebottom can just keep it coming. Tolerance is the second in the Heart of Stone series that I have become addicted to. The WOOOOOOWWWW factor just keeps getting better. The tragedy that happens in Incineration tears them apart. Mason is controlling and won't let Ava walk away. But Ava can never walk away. But then there is a game changer in this one...Rebecca, (The Police Commissioner's daughter) Mason's manipulative, piece of trash ex Mason only used for a POA while using comes to Mason saying she's pregnant. Ava and Mason face a lot of obstacles, and that's putting it mildly. There's absolutely no room for doubt that they love each other and only each other but they can't be together for so many reasons. The relationship that they do have is volatile, one of them is always angering the other but the heat between them stays the same. Mason brings out a side of Ava that is a lot more energetic and vibrant compared to before she met him. Ava has been dealt with a lot of crap but she is still pretty fierce and spirited as a person but also caring and compassionate. Her dilemma revolves around whether she and Mason can ever work it out as a normal couple. Mason is very protective and possessive of Ava and she is the world to him, although his temper flares frequently to the point where he is blinded by rage. He's also involved in business that he can't talk about and has a coke addiction, acting like a match that's always ready to be lit. Add to that a bit of jealousy and Mason can barely see straight. His dilemma is how much he loves Ava and what he's willing to give up for her. It's an exciting book as far as all the events occuring, there's never a dull moment and the end pretty much secures Ava's worst nightmare again.

This was a little slow up until the end. Eva and Mason have developed a love/hate relationship. So much conflict happens, but they can't seem to let each other go. I enjoy the bickering that happens. Eva doesn't forgive and forget easily. Mason goes above and beyond the alpha male status. I think he qualifies more as a power hungry control freak. I love alpha males, but he's a bit too much for me.

Considering Eva was pregnant through just about the whole book, I wasn't really into the romance. The scenes were steamy, but then I remembered she's a good 5 months along with tiny humans growing inside of her, and it sort of ruined the scene. Pregnancy is beautiful, I just prefer it to come at the end of the story.

The rape and abuse happening to Ava is becoming a broken record for this trilogy. With how often occurs, it has become too unrealistic. Hopefully, book 3 will lay off of it a bit.

There was an unexpected twist at the end that made the book a "must finish". I wasn't able to put it down! I just wish a good twist had been thrown in sooner to keep the book moving along better.

Spoiler:

I wasn't happy with how Eva was willing to accept the lifestyle of Mason's mistress. Seriously? Find a new man.
