In this Royals in the Headlines story, entering a lottery to become a princess was only meant to boost Briella’s marketing business—not make her reformed rebel Prince Alessio’s bride-to-be! Brie thought it was a publicity stunt…yet behind closed doors their chemistry isn’t fake! Alessio’s determined to prove he’s worthy of his title, while Brie’s desperate for a loophole. But now she’s won a prince, can she bear to part with her prize?
Juliette Hyland believes in strong coffee, hot drinks and happily ever afters! She lives in Ohio, USA, with her prince charming, who has patiently listened to many rants regarding characters failing to follow the outline. When not working on fun and flirty happily ever afters, Juliette can be found spending time with her beautiful daughters, giant dogs or sewing uneven stitches with her sewing machine.
Oh Brie & Alessio, the romance between these two was magic. This is Juliette’s Harlequin Romance debut (she has published 14 other novels with Harlequin Medical) and she truly sparkled with this one. This is a royal romance full of all the duty and rules and expectations and country first juiciness that comes with it, starring a heroine who doesn’t want the happy ever after, doesn’t want to be the name drawn from a hat and win a marriage with the prince. Falling into their romance felt effortless and I couldn’t put it down. So excited for more!
I received an ARC from Mills and Boona Ned NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I am beginning to think that Mills and Boon are really losing the plot. The obsession with royalty is leading them down the road of pedestrian, repetitive themes. I am so fed up with the endless royal families and island monarchies where the royal family are the same tortured, miserable products of abysmal parents. Where they all behave as if it was 1955 . I find the world building generally poor and so predictable.
And so it was with this one. An island monarchy a few miles from Majorca ( are you kidding me? ). A lottery to win the prize of being the Prince’s bride? (Now you really have to be joking! )
The premise was utterly ridiculous and the follow on story was pedestrian and I’m afraid, rather boring.
I hate to be so critical knowing how much work the author will have done to write this book but I just was not engaged with either the h/H or the plot. I think there are so many fabulous stories in the Mills and Boon canon - (Kate Hardy, Maisey Yates, Abby Green, Heidi Rice anyone?) and this story simply didn’t hit the mark like books by those authors do. And yet it was so close at times - when the focus was on Brie and Alessio. (And please, why call the heroine after a French cheese? ). Too much emphasis on other characters like the hateful journalist Lev who had far too much time spent on him.
The author can write well but I need more credibility in my romances. Suspension of disbelief is one thing but suspension of all credibility is simply not on. This is worth a read, but it’s not exciting. Sorry.
Prince Alessio was raised knowing he was the spare to the throne. That was to be his life until his older brother Prince Sebastian married and produced an heir.Ìý
Growing up, Alessio was the wild, unpredictable prince, until he broke away, leaving Celiana, and moved to Scotland. He had been happy with his life there. He had a small cottage where his glassblowing studio was in the back, and he sold his works in the front.Ìý
Celiana, at one time, had been a worldwide destination spot for weddings. The entire country's economy depended on those weddings, but the number of weddings is declining annually. His father had come up with the idea to have a lottery to win a prince. Naturally, he'd be the prince offered, as Sebastian's marriage was of too much importance for him to participate. Alessio had a fierce argument with his father, and, shortly after that, his father died of a stroke. Guilt made him return home to participate in the lottery.Ìý
Briella Ailiono is the only daughter of the country's richest and most powerful family. As a child, she was very close to her brother Beau. But the childhood rebel joined the family business and became as cold and calculating as their parents. Their mother despises their father and his many mistresses, but she loves the power, wealth, and prestige the marriage affords her, so she will never leave the marriage.Ìý
Her father arranged for Brielle to marry his business partner. He was also rich and powerful, but less so than her parents. He was also thirty years older than her and had been married twice before. When she stood up for herself and refused to marry him, they threw her out of their home and cut off all funds.Ìý
She managed to earn her degree despite not knowing if she'd have a roof over her head or when her next meal might be. She opened her own marketing business. That business is the reason she entered the lottery to win a prince.
Her best friend, Ophelia, is a designer of wedding gowns. Each entrant in the lottery had to appear at the drawing wearing a wedding gown. At the drawing, instead of showing up in a white or ivory gown, hers was a deep green that appeared to be almost black. She had only entered the drawing once during the week when there was no entry fee, a fee that increased weekly. The entry was also a legally binding contract. If your name is drawn, you will marry and become a princess.Ìý
What rotten timing for her to get lucky and have her entry drawn. But she's come up with a brilliant plan to save the country's economy. If she can do this, she'll no longer have to marry him. Then love entered their relationship, and the duties of the royal family became the same duties her family tried to force on her. She left them; maybe it’s time to walk away again...Ìý

Juliette Hyland does not disappoint in her Harlequin Romance debut. I enjoyed this sweet love story very much. Alessio, the rebel prince, has given up his dreams of being a master glassworker to be the dutiful son his deceased father, the king, always wanted him to be. Little does he know that the bride lottery his father arranged for him to take part in will lead him to his soul mate. Long ago, Brie left the controlling grip of her family to pursue her own path and her passions. When she inadvertently wins the kingdom's bride lottery, she goes from marketeer to Alessio's future bride in one day. This love story is tender and gripping, but the theme of choosing your own way in the life and following your dreams and passions is what I loved most about this book. Alessio and Brie are perfect for each other. I can't wait to read the sequel.

How to Win a Prince is the first book in the Royals in the Headlines series. I absolutely enjoyed reading How to Win a Prince, and I absolutely couldn't set this book down. I actually finished reading it in one day, and I did that by pulling an all nighter. How to Win a Prince is perfectly written and well executed by author Juliette Hyland, which this book is the first one I have read by her. This book did NOT disappoint me in anyway, in all honesty it was a fantastic read. Author Juliette does a phenomenal job with the way she breathes life into this book with her storytelling and writing skills. I would recommend this amazing book to anyone.

I love a royal romance and the first in Juliette’s new series Royals in the Headlines is absolutely fantastic. Brie is uninterested in becoming a real princess, she enters the Princess lottery with one ticket as a way to market her designer friend Ophelia’s beautiful gowns. When Brie’s name is pulled out of the lottery she becomes reformed rebel Prince Alessio’s bride-to-be. I loved this story which gives a great insight and perspective into the workings of the royal families around the world and the struggles they face. Watching Brie and Alessio’s love story play out was heartbreaking and uplifting. I can’t wait for Sebastian’s story next year.

This is a fun and entertaining book with an interesting concept with a princess lottery for marriage to a prince. Storyline is intriguing and pulls you in from the first page and holds your attention to the very end. The characters are well-developed and seemingly good people individually and then they develop into better personalities as a couple. I enjoyed this book. Highly recommend!.

This book takes 'doing it for the 'gram' and combines it with a love story. It's a sweet and modern spin to the commoner falls for the prince plot-line. It was sweet and closed doors with a bit of angst towards the end that made the happy ending that much better.

This book is at its finest and it reminds me of a really good movie that you want to watch over and over again. I love the book setting, the storyline and the characters that deliver a lighthearted romance with such beautiful insights as well as romance. Get ready to be taken on an emotional journey with Alessio and Briella that will lead you to a great HEA.
This is the first book in the Royals in the Headlines series. One womans journey as she wins the lottery to become a princess. Itis a romantic love story of becoming the one-woman Alessio never knew he wanted or needed. Happy ever after ending.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I always liked this kind of story. Briella and Alessio fall in love amidst a royal lottery to become a princess. It is not all sunshine and roses but it does make it more interesting.
Brie never wants to be a real princess. She only entered the Princess lottery to market her designer friend Ophelia's beautiful gowns. She won and became Prince Alessio's bride to be. Will they find true love with each other. This is a must read story.
How to Win a Prince is a heartstopper. From flirty to funny, sweet to emotional, Hyland covers all the best parts of romance. Destined to be a fairytale classic, Briella and Alesso dare to write their own story and rise above the ashes of an over the top publicity stunt.
It was unputdownable and I devoured it in a day!! So romantic and beautiful. I had a lovely time reading it and I'm looking forward to read the other books by this author.
