★★★★! No Strings Attached (book 1) is a quick, sexy friends-to-lovers novella about a night of wild passion!

“Ready? She nodded, and then he was licking the salt from the inside of her thigh, lingering, kissing every grain from her skin. Heat pooled between her legs, and a familiar ache worked its way down her belly. Jace took one last lick that went a little higher than necessary, then stood and downed the shot. He stared at her, his lids heavy. “Relax, Hayden, he whispered. And then his mouth was on hers.

Hero: Jace Jennings/26 years/bar owner/black hair/amber-brown eyes
Heroine: Hayden Summers/26 years/photojournalist for Times magazine/caramel-brown hair/green eyes

No Strings Attached is the brief story of Hayden Summers who, on the eve of her departure to the Middle East to work as a photojournalist for the Time magazine, heads out in search of a one night stand. She is trying to erase memories of a bad relationship and move on. And an in case she does not return from her assignment she wants a night of passion.

Hayden and her photographer assistant find themselves at her best friend since childhood, Jace Jennings night club. Ever since she informed him of her departure he has been distance and on the edge. They have a body shot, followed by tension and some harsh words causing Hayden to drink entirely too much before making plans for a rendezvous only to end up locked in a storage room with Jace

“He looked away, and for the first time ever, she couldn’t place the emotions that were scrawled across his face. He was still mad she was leaving, obviously.

Four words to describe Jace Jennings: Protective, strong, determined and sexy.

Four words to describe Hayden Summers: Independent, resourceful, naïve and caring.

No Strings Attached is alternating between Jace’s and Hayden’s POVs. Less than 100 pages long it’s a well-written, quick and sexy romp with a HFN ending that made me want to know more about them. And author just recently announced this will be a series.

5 HUGE STARS FOR A TINY NOVELLA

I'm not normally a fan of novella's but 'no strings attached' has officially changed my mind. I adored every single page. This short story packs more than a punch and I applaud the author for creating a story with depth, emotion, heartache, off the scales hot, heart in mouth chemistry and true love all in a gorgeous 'friends to forever' novella package.

What's it about?
Hayden Summers has just landed her dream job writing abroad for the Times magazine, on her last night before her travels she encounters one very steamy fulfilling night with her best friend Jace Jennings. Problem is Jace doesn't want just a one night stand this man wants forever. Follow the story of Hayden and Jace in this tantalising, emotional and sizzling hot novella.

“Do you want me Hayden?"
"Yes," she said with bated breath. "I want you"
"Then we're done talking"

Lisa's final thoughts ...
One thing I would say is, I want more. The author gave me a taste for fantastic characters and I'm amazed that I was so fully invested with a book that is less than one hundred pages long. 'no strings attached' should hit every lover of this genres 'I need it now' shelf. There is nothing not to love, with that being said ... go get it readers.

Short. Sweet. Sexy. The best way to describe this novella!

Hayden and Jace have been best friends for a long time. They have always been there for one another. The last few weeks, Jace hasn’t been speaking to Hayden. He is upset she is taking a dangerous photography assignment. He is worried for Hayden; he can’t lose her. Hayden has spent the last year single... and celibate. She wants one night of fun before she leaves, something out of character for her. Just one night of hot sex.

She wants one night, but he wants forever.

Hayden runs into Jace the night before she leaves. Jace wants to be with Hayden, he has for quite a while. The problem is he doesn’t just want her for one night... Hayden has always wanted Jace, but has been too afraid to ruin their friendship. Will this one night between them change everything?

I have a soft spot for ‘friends to lovers stories, and this one was beautiful! It had its steamy moments and sweet moments, I adored this little one. I would have loved a full book on these two, but the short story was nice.

Jace Jennings

I am not usually a fan of novellas. They are too quick for me to get any sort of feel for the characters, so I tend to stay away.

However, I got curious about this debut novella by Nicolette Day.

No Strings Attached turned out to be a pleasant little surprise for me. While only 62 pages, it packed a sexy little punch.

Hayden Summers and Jace Jennings have been best friends for years. Now after coming off of a broken engagement, Hayden lands her dream job taking pictures for Time magazine. Only caveat? She has to travel to Sudan to do it. To say that Jace is unhappy about this is an understatement.

Hayden wants to go off with no regrets, and after learning her ex-fiance is now engaged (to her cousin no less), she's determined to erase his memory. So of course the best way to go off with a bang is with a casual hookup.

Jace is the sexy bartender/owner, along with his equally hot brother Nate, at the bar that Hayden goes to, to accomplish her goal. Little does she know that Jace has been secretly in love with her for years.

When Hayden meets her random hookup and plans to meet him in the storage room, she gets the surprise of a lifetime when she gets Jace instead.

Jace convinces Hayden that he is the only man for the job, and having been harboring feelings for the sexy, tattooed man for years as well, Hayden cannot resist his offer.

I was very surprised at how much this book was able to convey in just a few short pages. The author did a fantastic job with characterization. The book was cute and steamy with a very sweet HEA ending.

I really enjoyed the writing style and would gladly read future books from this author. As a matter of fact, if we can get a full length novel on Jace's brother, Nate, I'd be all over that.

"I’ll be damned if I let you walk out of my life and lose the chance that you might say yes someday.

Hayden has been offered the ultimate dream job oversees with Time magazine, the only thing is that it takes her away from her home and her friends, something her best friend isn’t all too thrilled about. Jace and Hayden have been there for each other throughout their lives and it’s never been complicated until now. Jace doesn’t know what Hayden has to put herself in harm’s way to a place where he can’t protect her and Hayden doesn’t understand why Jace is so mad, he’s supposed to be proud of her, not shut her out completely.

A super short read, of friends to lovers, it was something I was able to finish and enjoy before I went to bed. Even though it was short, I thought the author did a good job bringing you up to speed that it didn’t feel like an insta-love kinda book, there was history between them. One things for sure, my favorite part was the body shot scene seriously HOT!

The only bad thing about this is that it was too short. I needed more pages!!

description

Jace and Hayden are friends for years, secretly loving each other for a long time. But now Hayden lands her dream job that involves have to leave the country and Jace isn't happy about it.
So when he knows that she plans to a have a one-night-stand before she leaves, he believes that they should do it. And that will change everything. Because when you are in love with someone one-night-stands just DON’T happen and become forgotten the next morning.

This was a really good novella. If this had a “normal-book-length it would be an awesome book. Anyway, it was a great, quick reading with a sexy-hero, which is always welcome! ;)

The book was perfect for what it was; a sexy friends to lovers short novella. The short part’s important to mention because I wasn’t expecting an incredibly high level of character development or a particularly deep story. Regardless of the length I came to like both Hayden and Jace. Their shared history made the moment they finally came together and admitted their true feelings for one another smokin hot! I’m a sucker for a good friends to lovers story and this one most definitely did the job nicely.

3.5 - There was a String - Stars!

Hayden has been in love with her best friend Jace for what seems like forever.

He however only likes her as a friend..........Or so it seems....

She is getting ready to leave the country for work. Her best friend Lilly talks her into trying to make her last night a good one by having a one night stand.

Lilly’s worried that Hayden will become a little old cat lady.

Hayden plans to hook up with a guy she meets at Jace’s bar in the back room.

She needs some good sex before she leaves

Things don’t quite work out when she gets locked in the room with Jace. They wind up hooking up but get stopped before they get down and dirty. They then take the party back to her apartment.

But what will happen the next morning when it’s time for Hayden to leave? Will she still go now that things have changed?

Seriously, for such a short book, this one packed a punch!

This is absolutely my most favorite friends to lovers story EVAH! So well written, so freaking hot, so fanfreakingtastic!

When Jace and Hayden come together (pun so intended)

This was really a great book. The story was so well thought out and written it never even occurred to me it was a shorter story. It had the feel of a full length novel with all the parts necessary. Just enough back story on their relationship to get the gist of it and see them progress from the friends stage to the lovers stage ;)

Would I like to see more from Hayden and Jace? Hell yes! Did I feel cheated at the length? Not so much, surprisingly! Am I crossing my fingers and toes and praying Ms. Day can publish more books as fast as humanly possible! MOST DEFINITELY!!

A very hot and steamy read!! I loved it!

I’m not normally a fan of novellas because they all seem to suffer from insta-love. I prefer longer novels that take time to develop the characters and build their relationship before they jump into bed. BUT, this one actually worked for me.

Hayden and Jace were already best friends so their feelings didn’t seem rushed. And who doesn’t love a good friends-to-lovers story??

Hayden is a photographer and has accepted a dangerous assignment that will take her out of the country. She and her assistant go out for one last night on the town. Hoping to erase the memory of her cheating ex-boyfriend, she is determined to find a guy for a one-night stand.

Jace is not happy about any of this. Not the fact that she’s leaving and not the fact that she’s planning to hook up with a random stranger.

When Hayden and Jace accidentally find themselves trapped in the storage room of his bar, things start to heat up. Jace offers her what she’s looking for one night with no strings attached. But will one night be enough for either of them??

This novella is a fairly short read, but it has all the right elements. sexy, tattooed bartender who is secretly in love with his best friend smart, independent girl following her dreams which causes said bartender to finally admit his feelings and lots of steam, passion and sex! Loved it!!!

Short and sweat. Steamy and satisfying. Hayden and Jace have been best friends forever and they have both been through a lot with each other. They have also both been in love with each other for a while. When Hayden makes the move to get on with her life, it stirs something in Jace that he can't control. Anger, possessiveness. Will he let her get away?
This book was really short, I read it within an hour. Even though the length wasn't long I still really enjoyed it. It was a nice escape from the real world watching Hayden and Jace work through their relationship. Sort of hoping we get Nate's story and that it isn't so short ;)

I loved this book. I'm a sucker for protective men with a lot going on under the surface and Nicolette Day totally delivers that in Jace. I fell for Hayden and Jace - totally had a goofy-faced book hangover when it ended. Their story made me melt and I was already half-melted from the steamy sex. Definitely recommend!

Brazen Ever After novellas are complete teases, I swear! I can’t seem to get enough and this goes for No Strings Attached. I devoured this gem in less than two hours, trying my hardest to make it last forever to no avail. It was just too good to put down.

Hayden was freaking awesome! Right in the beginning she was just so funny and down to earth. She was just a normal young woman who wasn’t too wild or even boring, but hard working and finally going after her dreams. She was finally doing something she has always wanted to do and I totally enjoyed that she stepped out a little on her last night at home. Hayden gets her one night and while she does, things go past her boundaries and reservations. I liked that Hayden never became someone else but herself. She didn’t let herself be held back from what she really wanted.

Jace was the sweetest, sexiest, most alluring best friend ever! I totally loved that he was so protective of Hayden. It wasn’t hard to love Jace at all. First, he owned a club, had spiky hair, had tattoos, knew how to serve drinks, and was a good friend and even better lover. You can’t ask for a better man. I’d let him lick my thigh any day. I was so giddy that he finally took action with Hayden. I was just melting all over the place every time he talked about how much he loved Hayden and how much he wanted to be with her. I think I need to trade places with Hayden because Jace was just dreamy. I sure would not hesitate to jump Jace’s bones, especially if I was locked in a storage room with him. (wink wink)

This novella was really short and Day hits all the right points. What I love the best about No Strings Attached besides the hot steamy scenes that Day built up, was the well developed characters of Hayden and Jace and the relationship they had. I really got to appreciate the friendship that was already established and the love that was deeply rooted between the two. I believed it and I felt it and couldn’t help but root for these two. It was sweet and so heartwarming, I didn’t stop myself from hugging this book real close when I finished.

Keep them coming Nicolette Day, because I’m barely getting started!

Summer at my house means endless hours at the pool. Unfortunately (for me) I’m not an outdoorsy type person. I’d rather read about trolls galavanting through the woods, or hot t-shirtless men comparing abs around a pool, than actually take part in it. (Ok, maybe not the abs one.) So my rules for finding summer (pool) reading are simple.

1. They need to be short enough to read in a couple of hours. (1-200 pages. When I finally decide to drag my crinkly fingered children back into the house, that book better be done.)

2. They can’t be overly complicated. (Sorry George R.R. Martin, but it’s hard to concentrate on your 70 different story lines when I have a 4 year old trying to Houdini her water wings.)

3. They must have endings. (My neighbors already think I’m a lunatic, no need to prove them right by acting like Bobby Knight -in public- because some sadistic author decided to end their book in a cliffhanger.)

You’d think this would be easy. But with trilogies basically ruling the roost these days, quick reads are pretty hard to come by. (Unless of course I want to cruise the Harlequin aisle. Then it’s like diving into an ocean of insta-love with a side of saddle soreness.)

Which brings me to WHY I decided to read and review Nicolette Day’s (who just happens to be Tara Fuller’s wicked alter ego for those of you that read YA) mini-ebook “No Strings Attached.

To start…it’s only 62 pages. (Winner winner chicken dinner) but that’s not what really sold me. It was the premise on TOP of the 62 pages. If Day could solidly convince me (in so few pages) that her characters had a real connection, sported a solid background, AND believable emotions, I would vow to add her to my “solid author summer reader summer list. The verdict…success.

But, first.let’s hear what it’s all about.

"She wants one night. He wants her forever.

Hayden Summers just landed the job of a lifetime taking pictures for Time magazine, but she’s determined to leave with no regrets. The first thing on her list? Erase the memory of her cheating ex with a wild night of anonymous sex. The second? Figure out why her best friend, sexy bar owner Jace Jennings, stopped speaking to her the night she told him about the job. Jace has a problem. Hayden isn’t just leaving the country, she’s risking her life—just when he’s realized he’s in love with her. When fate traps them in the storage room of his bar together, barely contained desire simmers to surface. In one last attempt to keep her, Jace offers Hayden the one thing she wants: a night of hot sex, no strings attached. But when the night is over, will Jace be able to let her go? And will Hayden leave with her heart intact?"

Now, before I tell you what I liked and didn’t like about this STORY, I want to talk a little about one of the lead characters (and yes, I did mean 1 of because this is written in companion narration.) names. This is probably as petty as I am ever going to get (so let me apologize in advance) but I was only 3 pages in before I had to mentally change one of the characters names. (Not Jace…though my love for Jace in the Mortal Instruments made that one a little awkward as well) It was Hayden. Hayden is a girl. A very lovely, very talented (obviously dense, or blind) girl. But for some completely mucked-up reason I had a HUGE problem gluing the name Hayden and the concept of her having boobs together. Maybe it’s because I have a MALE friend named Hayden. Maybe because when I see the beginning of it (hay) it reminds me of a farm, and cows, and boys on that farm milking the cows. I don’t know. But whatever the case…I couldn’t digest the name Hayden. (Because I suck.) So it became Haven. Problem averted.

Despite the fact that I apparently lack the brain power to oversee personal nuances in this book, I will happily admit that it held my attention. Not only were the characters very well written (Both came with very vivid, clear, and intriguingly intertwined backstories) but there wasn’t a single moment when I thought the chemistry between the two felt forced. It landed much more on the “inevitable loveliness side of the fence than the “wholly crap monkeys..that was a little fast side. Making the issue of “insta-love disappear completely. (*throws confetti*)

As for the story itself? What can I say.

Though predictable in the most dramatic part, it was still a wildly engaging story. The journey was not about whether they would “get together (that was more obvious than HOW they did) it was about what they would say to each-other ONCE they did. If they would allow themselves freedom with their emotions, stop hiding and be real.

The fact that Day was able to pull of such a successful story with very little space says quite a bit about her ability to form, and execute necessities. She realized that to make the story believable, she must show the HEART of the story, not the places and things around it. Because of this…”No Strings Attached made for a genuinely perfect (flirty) summer read.

Happy Reading my fellow Kindle-ites and remember: Sometimes it’s ok to just lay it all out there.

A copy of this book was provided by NetGallery in return for an honest review

This was a nice short erotic story featuring two best friend who make the most of their last night together.

It's Hayden last night before she flies overseas to work as a photographer in Sudan and she is determined to have sex before she goes. She goes to the bar owned by her best friend Jace on a mission and nothing is going to stop her. Jace and Hayden have been friends forever, but Jace hasn't spoken to her since she announced she was leaving. Both don't want to leave things as they are but they are clueless to how the other feels.

A chance meeting in the backroom of the bar forces them to communicate their feelings and finally give into the attraction they have both secretly felt.

It concludes nicely with another potential romance set up.

All I can say is: I want more!!!!

Oh, how I loved this little novella. It’s so hard for me to get hooked on a book nowadays because I read so much, but No Strings Attached had me glued to all 62 pages of its pure awesomeness. And, I was seriously smiling and laughing the whole time I was reading this. My only complaint? There wasn’t enough of it! I want more Hayden and Jace. And possibly some more Nate because dammit if I don’t love a sexy set of brothers!
I loved Jace and Hayden so much. No Strings Attached takes place in one night, where Hayden is determined to have one last night of fun before she leaves to dangerous territories to take pictures for Time magazine. She goes to a club, owned by her best friend Jace, looking for a one-night stand. The thing is, Jace has been secretly in love with her for some time now and he’s heartbroken that she’s leaving. Right from the start, their chemistry is sizzling. I love that Jace is a bit of an alpha male (my favorite) and he’s quite protective of Hayden. He’s also super sweet and was there to comfort Hayden when her ex cheated on her. This is basically a story of long-time friends who fall in love.

Because of their history, it’s easy to see and believe that they love each other. The attraction is obviously there, and I’m a sucker for a relationship that starts off as just friends. Jace is so swoonworthy and such a sweetheart. You all know how much I love dual POVs, so it was nice seeing how Jace felt about Hayden. It really increased the passion level in this book. One of the things I loved most was the book wasn’t only sexy, it was truly sweet. Jace cares deeply for Hayden and once he realizes it, he does everything in his power to make sure she knows it. That ending was so touching, adorable, and romantic. HEART!!!

No Strings Attached is easily one of my favorite novellas from Brazen, or just in general actually. I devoured it. Everything moves pretty fast, but it wasn’t rushed, which was great. Nicolette’s writing is fun and witty. Her characters are sexy, smart, and intriguing. I also loved the dialogue. Let’s face it, I loved everything about this book. Please tell me there will be a story about Nate, Jace’s super hot brother?! I need more!!!

After I finished this the only thought I had or could even come up with was something like.."What the hell did I just read?" And can I just say, that I mean that in the best way possible? Because holy crap, that may have only been 67 pages, but it was 67 delicious pages. My only complaint? I wanted it to go on and on and on and on. Couldn't they have maybe been locked in the storage room for like a week? Maybe two? Yeah I know. Blah, blah they would've died, blah, blah. You people ruin all my fun with your "reality checks"!

This book followed one of my absolute favorite types of storylines. The going from friends/best friends to falling in love. And in just a few pages Nicolette did a really good job at showing us the emotional depth between Hayden and Jace without having it feel like it's just another been there done that friends to lovers sort of book. It was fresh and fun and a bit thrilling! You know, the idea of being locked in a room with a smokin' hot guy that you've been pining for since as long as you can remember. Tell me the idea of that isn't thrilling. Yep. Thought so ;)

I enjoyed all of the characters, even the side ones. Jace was beyond crush worthy. I really felt for him and enjoyed the book most when it was in his POV. And the little bits we got with Nate had me really liking him as well and I'm hoping we'll get to see his story in the future. I was pretty impressed that in such a short book I was given just enough to become attached to each one of these characters and have me wanting to read more of them.

This would be a perfect read for those of you who want something hot and endearing and just plain yummy, but don't have the time to sit down to a full length novel. I highly recommend it!

This is the first book I have read from Nicolette Day, and I can tell you now it certainly will not be the last... I absolutely loved it!! My only complaint is that it was to short and would loved to have got to know the main characters in more depth! Maybe another * hint, hint, winks*.

This very sweet, heart swooning, sexy novellas really leaves you sighing and while hugging your kindle! or maybe that was just me *blushes*
This book starts with Hayden and her assistant having a last drunken, no strings attached night out, as Hayden is about to leave town on a work trip. Hayden is planning on having a one off sexual encounter with a Stranger before she goes, she feels let down and just wants some fun especially after hearing her ex boyfriend is getting married to one of her relatives.
In walks Jace!! *fanning myself* Jace is Hayden best friend and just happens to be super HOT!! This is one steamy, hot love story of two best friends turning into lovers.
Jace is desperate to tell or show Hayden how he really feels and knows his time is short knowing she will be gone in the morning!!
Jace luck turns for the better when he and Hayden get locked in the cellar of the bar they are in, and oh my things end up getting dam hot and steamy!! (you may need to step out side to cool yourself down after) I certainly did!!
This book I could not put down till I finished and I totally recommend to anyone who wants a short read which is well written with lots of hot passion.

"Do you want me Hayden?)"
"Yes," she said with bated breath. "I want you"
"Then we are done talking"

As soon as I started reading this book I couldn't help but think that I was going to love it; so thought so done. I absolutely loved No Strings Attached because it contains one of my favorite romance tropes, friends to lovers. Even though it's a trope that is used a lot the author managed to make it fresh and new.

The characters were like-able especially Jace, who was all alpha and yummy with those tats. He made me sigh dreamily, gave me shivers and made my heart flutter.

This was my first book by Nicolette Day but it most certainly will not be my last. I love her writing style. If you're a fan of friends to lovers books pick this one up you won't be disappointed, well, maybe you will be a little disappointed but only because it's short but other than that No Strings Attached is great read.

No Strings Attached is one of the rare books that contains a story that is every bit as sexy and smoldering as the cover. (And whoa, that's SOME cover!) As difficult as it is to tell a complete story in a novella, Ms. Day nailed it with characters that are relatable and likable and a story that is filled with emotion and longing. And umm, the smexy times were delicious, too! I reached the end with a smile on my face and my own sense of longing - for the next book in the Falling For You series! Ms. Day is an author to watch.

What is not to love about a couple that is so right for each other but too afraid to show it? And now that one half is on the verge of leaving, will either one of them have the courage to voice what has been lingering in the air, or will the fear of losing their friendship triumph?

No Strings Attached was an extremely romantic, sexy and heart-warming story. I even read it twice before settling down to review it. I fell in love with the characters within the first few pages; the first chapter reminding me a little of Sex & The City meets Cocktail. This story flowed from the first page, beginning with Hayden and learning what had her shaking her fist at the universe at large to Jace, the inked, hunkalicious bartender and Hayden’s best friend since childhood. Their history was touched upon briefly, but it was to the point and explained so much about who they were, who they’d become and their relationship, or lack of one.

I really loved was that Jace and Hayden were as honest as they could be before crossing the line from friends to lovers. Jace’s selfless nature, his vulnerability, his protective streak and his courage made me fall hard for him. The supporting characters, Lilly (Hayden’s loyal assistant) and Nate (Jace’s brother) didn’t distract from the story. In fact, there seemed to be a spark of something there, so I hope they will get to tell their story as well. This novella had everything my romantic heart could ever desire: a mature voice, believable characters, humor, and some really sexy scenes. I absolutely adored the ending, and couldn’t have thought of a more perfect way to end the story.

If you want to know what the perfect novella looks like, it doesn’t get better than this. No Strings Attached made for the best forty five minutes of my day.

Favorite lines:

The universe was a cruel bitch for making the hottest man in the room the one who found her as sexually appealing as a goldfish.

~*~
“Don’t get me wrong. It took me off guard when you kissed me. He smiled. “But the way you smell, the way you felt under my hands…I knew it was you.

“And you kissed me back…

“Yeah, he said gently. “I kissed you back.

Favorite moments:

#1) Outside the bar, in the rain.

#2) Jace taking her cell phone ;)
