Messed up formatting almost ruined this story
The formatting in this was ridiculous, no scene breaks, two or three different people speaking in the same paragraph without proper identification, jumbled words mixed together.
Really annoying because this is a cracking good story, focusing on Lucky, a man with no memory who is thrown into chaos when a man in a bar tells him he's actually Josh, a SEAL who was supposedly killed by terrorists four years earlier.
The bad guy was skilfully hidden throughout the narrative and the two sets of romances also worked well.
Just a massive shame about the dreadful formatting and editing choices.

FOUR & HALF STARS--"Bound to Break" is book #6 from S.E. Jakes military MM series, Men of Honor. You'd think that by book #6, there is not much story to tell, right? Definitely not!
"Bound to Break" comes back in full force with four main characters (this is not menage-though a daisy chain would have not have been frowned upon from this quarter but I digress). We have two couples (Sawyer and Rex, Dash and Luck/Josh) who stories run parallel to the mystery of Lucky. He was presumed dead by his team in the Navy SEALS including his former lover Rex. Four years later he is found alive, scarred & damaged from terrorists and has amnesia. He can't remember anything before the four years he has been declared Killed In Action.
Lucky has been working for Dash's family's bar as a bartender and civilian, not knowing the world he left behind or even his own name. The mysterious Dash has been away for six years for reasons he did not choose to share. A freak encounter changes not only Lucky's life or Dash's life but Lucky's former teammates' lives as well including Rex.
The plot lines were not hard to follow. Should you read all of the books prior? Yes, I think so. Rex and Sawyer were mentioned in
previous books so I think the added back story will help with the
experience of both characters. Josh/Lucky was mentioned in passing. Dash (the South African-American blonde bowl of yum) is totally new. (Can I say South African accents are in my top faves? Just saying.)
We get brief mentions of Rex and Sawyer's past. They are the established couple of the bunch so there was not much angst or unnecessary drama thrown in to spice it up because those two are hot enough to carry it off. There is a brief trip to D/s world but it was pretty light but very hot. The main issue was Lucky aka Josh. Rex struggles with accepting Josh is alive...and when they last saw each other they were lovers very much in love. Lucky struggles with learning about his past, he can't remember anything, is not sure who to trust (might I add Dash's first move does not add to the situation but I was not mad at him as the story progressed) and falling for the untrustworthy Dash.
We get visits of Clint and Jace (Sawyer's best friend and teammate), lots of doses of snark, great secondary characters and hot sex. The sex...two thumbs up! Add in the suspense and these four men's struggles, it equaled one enticing read. There's action, in and outside the bedroom. And a couple of twists and turns. The story is fast paced, everything is not what they seem and somehow, love is found.
Around 80%, these thoughts were running through my mind: the suspense of who the hell is who, who should be trusted, what the hell is going on, I don't think a HEA can be possible...I was anxious/nervous and would have been fine with a HFN. But we get a HEA, of course! This is S.E. Jakes and she definitely does deliver the hotness.
There's just something about picturing muscle bound hunks of military real life heroes loving one another that melts my butter. They can kick ass like no other and then having them get their man...it's great!
Sounds like I lurved this book and wanted to get to know it better, so why 4.5 stars? There was the insta-love of Dash and Lucky. I wouldn't have minded more buildup between the two but for what was given it was pretty good. Also we jump right into sex in the first 10%, luckily there is story to go with it, removing it from being called PWP. There most definitely is a plot, I felt like I was reading a MM version of the Scandal television show or something to that effect. SE Jakes has stepped up the game with intrigue and suspense. And thankfully, the HEA is more realistic with not everything being solved and tied up in a neat bow.
If there are any more planned books for this series *coughs*hope so*coughs*Uncle please*coughs*, I am so there!
P.S. When the couples join forces together, I swear the only song playing in my head was AC/DC's "Back in Black" so if I chose a theme song, that would be it. ;D

SE Jakes is my go to author for my fix where these books are concerned and she sates my need every time, she never lets me down, in fact having followed this series from the beginning it holds a special place in my heart and quite frankly, in my opinion Ms Jakes just keeps getting better and better with each new book she writes. She manages to capture that special bond between men of honour, the camaraderie and sense of family and run with it� totally believable! …Building the tension and excitement with an underlying plot that grabs your attention and keeps you fully engaged and engrossed in the action� all the way to the very last page
Bound to Break encompasses the relationship of two couples, Rex and Sawyer and Lucky/Josh and Dash their lives having been so intertwined for four years that one story would not be complete without the other. Josh resurfacing with no memory of his former life or friends, after his SEAL team had thought him dead, killed by the men who had captured them four years prior, opens up a can of worms and emotions not only for Josh or now Lucky as he is known and his SEAL team, but also those that now touch the lives of these men, including Dash and his family. Dash’s family had rescued and cared for Lucky, despite realising his life was far more sinister and complicated than the fabricated version of events he shared, his training and self preservation kicking in even in his state of amnesia, and now the past is back to haunt them all.

Smoke and mirrors, danger and intrigue, secrets, lies, CIA, Special Forces, spies and terrorists� and at the centre of it all, a man who has no knowledge of how he fits into the puzzle or the situation he finds himself in. There is a profound sadness to Lucky at the loss of his memories and the events and people that had impacted his life, and he them, for which he has no recollection. It was heart-breaking to watch it all unravel especially when he doubts his own honour and integrity despite the faith of others.
For Dash and Lucky their get together was fast and furious� with neither understanding the intense sexual attraction that would not be denied. But for Dash there was an ulterior motive, one that caused him guilt for his actions and apprehension of the inevitable consequences of Lucky discovering his betrayal. Personally, I think Lucky should have given Dash a harder time over his betrayal and kicked his arse over the part he played in turning him over to the Navy. But I get the impression, that Lucky was grabbing onto all the good things in his life, not knowing how long they would last, making new memories and embracing the emotions Dash evoked in him, making him feel alive for the first time in the four years he can remember� with a part of him he doesn’t quite understand, knowing that Dash believes in him.
At the end of Bound by Danger, I like the rest of the fans of this series wanted more from Rex and Sawyer and not one to disappoint, SE Jakes totally delivered with their story in this book. Both men are still coming to terms with their relationship, and the resurrection of Rex’s former lover turns their tentative understanding into turmoil. Sawyer is a saint and I absolutely adore him, he has such strength of character and despite Rex’s past with Josh and his initial insecurities and feelings of despair it soon turns to compassion and comprehension. Rex knowing he has kept Sawyer at arms length for so long, with neither of them fully opening up and sharing their secrets or even time away from work together unless it was for sex, draws strength from Sawyers empathy. He loves Sawyer, he had reignited a part of him that had been missing, even during his time with Josh and he wants nothing more than to prove to Sawyer just how much he means to him.
This is a story of damaged men with a past of captivity and torture that haunt them, but they fighters, and in the face of adversity good overcomes evil and love, friendship and family prevail. I love this book, the series the characters and the author…just amazing! and as always the writing is excellent, as far as I’m concerned that is a given from SE Jakes. The sex scenes� sizzling, and incredibly intense, it was enough to melt my kindle!!! We get a high octane finale that will have you holding your breath, the bad guy was a total shocker, never saw that coming and the inclusion of Clint and Jace was just the icing on the cake� Absolutely bloody brilliant!!!

Trust me when I tell you that this is the best thing SE Jakes has written, and she’s been entertaining me with her writing for a while now. This book is an entirely new level of writing and story development for this author. Watching a series get better and better is a great thrill. With recurring characters and revisited storylines it could have easily slipped, instead the energy feels charged and the layers of inter-connectedness are much more complex. Which gives this series the potential to really explode.
This is a culmination of the last three books and you have to be on your toes to keep up. It’s worth the effort though. And geez, I haven’t even told you how sexy it is.
THE CHARACTERS
Yeah, me too.
Lucky (Josh Kent) - Lucky is this beautiful wild-card throughout this book. You will completely fall for him, want to protect him, and hold him, while holding him at arms length too.
Dashiell (Dash) Bain - Yeah, come on Dash, just plow right ahead and take what you want. Damn.
I love the chemistry between these two. It is all chemistry in the beginning and sometimes that’s not okay, but it works here because the relationship gets to build into more, and isn’t that what we really want to see?

Rex � Poor, torn Rex.
Sawyer � Wow, I can only wish I could have played it so cool. I love Sawyer.
Clint � The Rock.
Jace � If I could buy a best friend it would be Jace.

THE STORY
Lucky is living a happy-go-lucky life. He’s safe, has his needs filled and he’s happy. Sure he’s lonely, but you would be too if you couldn’t remember anything earlier than four years ago. He also knows he doesn’t want to know what happened four years ago and he’s got the scars to prove it.
Dash lives a very secret double life, one he can’t even share with his family. For their safety. When he discovers the thing he’s been trying to keep his family safe from is living with them his entire world turns upside down. And then the mental tug-of-war he plays with himself? It’s just…mental.
By way of this discovery many, many lives are affected. Many of the men we’ve read about previously in the Men of Honor series are about to have to revisit a past from which they are still trying to recover.
Jakes often weaves a paranormal or even a mystical thread into her work in a way that feels like that unexplainable energy in the universe. Works for me. It never overwhelms the story, it just puts a bit of possibility into it. In this story you will find some unlikely coincidences, but they are acknowledged as such. Sometimes you are just where the universe wants you to be.
There is one minor continuity fact that I keep questioning, but I’m going to my favorite boards to sort that out. I’m sure it’s something I just didn’t connect with.
From the jungle, to the brig, to beaches and bedrooms hang on for an ambitious story that has tension, tenderness, torture and trust. Trust, trust, trust.
THE WRITING
This felt so much like reading a movie that I just kept losing myself in it. The complexity and multi-layered connections woven into this story set it apart from everything Jakes has written previously. This is a giant step forward in her work, but I don’t think it’s a fluke at all. She’s been improving constantly and I’m more anxious than ever to read what she writes next. With this book she has moved into a category of writer that I feel very comfortable giving 5 stars to.

"Lucky, they're torn between treating you like a criminal and a hero."
"Maybe there's always a fine line between the two."
This was a sort of continuation of and Rex and Sawyer's story. In this book we find out that Josh, now known as Lucky, is alive and living in South Africa. But there's one catch, he has no memory of his life before he washed up on the South African shore four years ago. He's rescued by Emme and her family and now works as a bartender in their family bar. Emme's brother, Dash, is a world renowned photographer and has been gone on various trips for the last six years, so Lucky has been staying in his apartment.
But what happens when not everything is at it seems? One of Lucky's military buddies recognizes him at the bar, and who also happens to be there but Dash. Coincidence? What happens when the military finds out that Josh is alive? More importantly, what happens to Rex? And how does that affect his growing relationship with Sawyer? A man who already feels like he may be competing with a ghost? And how and why is Dash mixed up in all of this? Too many worlds colliding, with Lucky the only one with any real answers....but with no memory, what answers can he provide? Can they find a way to restore Lucky's memory and find out what really happened the night they thought he died?
A chill went through Lucky as Rex talked about his death. He didn't remember any of this - it was like being told the plot to a movie. And Lucky wanted all the spoilers, but it was strange being so detached and so invested in the outcome all at the same time.
There was a lot going on here, and while I did enjoy most of it, I wish we had more time with Rex and Sawyer. The connection these two men share really pulls at my heart, and I would have liked to have seen more of the functionality of their relationship. We get chunks throughout most of the book, as this book really centers more on Lucky - as it should, but I still would have liked to have seen more of my favorite couple. Greedy....yes, I know.
They fell asleep with only the computer screen between them. Sawyer woke up multiple times during the night, only to find Rex still there. Not sleeping, but each time, nodding to let Sawyer know he was still there.
I was a little concerned how Josh/Lucky's return would affect these two, especially Sawyer, but I was so very pleased they handled the situation like mature adults. No unnecessary drama, just real insecurities handled with care. I seriously love these two and gobbled up every second that I shared with them!
I was a confused mess and on pins and needles trying to piece together what happened to Lucky. So may details and multiple crossed paths trying to untangle the mess of his death and subsequent years. I didn't know what to believe, who to believe? My heart really broke for Lucky. Not having any true sense of self, any memory of his life really wore him down. He'd have instincts kick in during critical times and he'd have no idea where they came from. To not have any clear picture of your identity was a scary notion.
And while I both liked and understood his connection to Dash, I felt that their relationship moved too fast for me. It was insta-lust and inst-connection from the get go, and for two people who had so many questions, doubts and missing puzzle pieces, I couldn't wrap my head around their immediate need for each other. Unfortunately, I ended up being more invested in the mystery of what happened to Lucky than his relationship with Dash.
Overall, this has been a series of ups and downs for me, but ultimately one I've enjoyed (even though I now need to go back and read book 5). And Rex and Sawyer sit firmly as my favorite couple of the bunch.
Most importantly, I've come to learn that I can expect testosterone, intrigue, emotion and some smoking hot sex when I pick up a SE Jakes book. These are all things that I can get 100% on board with!

This book is a lot like Book 4, Bound by Danger, in that there are two couples somewhat starring in the story. You may remember Rex and Sawyer and Clint and Jace from that book. Rex and Sawyer were just getting together and dealing with Rex� lover who had gone MIA on a mission to retrieve two missing agents.

Rex and Sawyer are great together, and the story shifts a little bit between them and Lucky/Dash with the Josh/Rex issue being the more common link. Sounds a bit confusing, but it really isn’t the way it’s written.
Lucky and Dash decide they will make a go of it, that there is more to their feelings than just screwing for information and the job. So, there are two couples� stories being told here, as was the case in Men of Danger. This time though, things read a little smoother for me, and I found I quite enjoyed the style.
This story has so much to offer and is actually my favorite of the series so far. Hot military/special ops guys, damaged characters dealing with recovery from their tortured time in captivity, a few twists I didn’t see coming, and some smoking hot sex, to name just a few. Jakes remains at the top of my must read as soon as it hits the streets list, and this one was no exception. I recommend the entire series, but definitely Bound by Danger, as the same characters appear.

This book is a lot like Book 4, Bound by Danger, in that there are two couples somewhat starring in the story. You may remember Rex and Sawyer and Clint and Jace from that book. Rex and Sawyer were just getting together and dealing with Rex� lover who had gone MIA on a mission to retrieve two missing agents.

4.5 rounded up to 5...just because I love this series and can't wait for the next book.
Without a doubt, the best book in the series. I am really hopeful that it’s not over because I truly want, and need, to know more about Lucky “Josh�. I need updates on his “condition� and need to know if anything changes. The same could also be said for Sawyer…will his “condition� become a factor? I can easily see another book starring these four amazing men…and the 3 SEAL team mates.
I am not normally a fan of stories where two separate couples are prominent in the storyline. It tends to weaken my connection to them when their time is shared. That is so not the case here. There is absolutely no way the plot could play out without their stories being told together because these men each have a past, some known and some not, that are entwined. The story works and I loved every minute of it…even the not so happy parts.
We initially meet Sawyer and Rex, two SEALS who are at the early stages of a new relationship, in book 4 of the series. We were given just enough to make us want more. Well, we get a lot more…and surprisingly, as much as I was rooting for and screaming for a Sawyer and Rex book, I wanted Rex with Josh� at first. It took quite a while for me to get past that, but once I realized that Rex and Sawyer just made sense together, and that even Josh agreed, I was at ease.
Rex suffered severe guilt at leaving Josh behind with the terrorists, believing he was killed, and then later learning he was actually alive and without any memory of who he was, or even who Rex was, just made my heart hurt for him…for both of them. In his own mind, Rex left is lover and team mate with the terrorists and he could not forgive himself, even though the entire team believed he was dead, had actually seen his body. But he still believed he should have known better.
You would expect a whole lot of jealousy in this story, but besides the expected insecurity, there is no petty behavior…especially with an unexpected ghost from the past, a lover suffering guilt and confusion, new relationships dealing with many unknowns, possible deceit, and hidden agendas. I am amazed at how well behaved these guys are, but then again, they are highly trained and the love they feel for each, not just the romantic love, is refreshing and I enjoyed every minute of this book.
I highly recommended for those who enjoy hot, sexy, alpha men coming to terms with their pasts, while dealing with danger and intrigue.

This was not a total OMG winner for me, the beginning was to far-fetched for me to believe. And while the book did get better, it never recovered completely for my tastes. Which is a shame, because i loved all the other books in this wonderful series.
Lucky is discovered washed up on a beach by a family, they get him to a hospital and offer him a home and a job. He has been working as a bartender for the last 4 years. And like the blurb states he has horrific scars on his back and legs and has no desire to find out who he is or how they got there. really? Dash, who is CIA and the son of the family who owns the bar, has been searching for Josh (Lucky) all these years. Dash doesn’t know if Josh (Lucky) is a hero, traitor, or terrorist, discovers he has been working for his family all this time. So they meet, have sex and Dash turns him into the Navy. *eye roll* This all happens in the first 10% of the book, and honestly I wanted to stop there.
What saved this book for me was Rex and Sawyer continued storyline. Rex gets a call that Josh is discovered alive and working as a bartender in South Africa. This is the other thing that bugged me, is what happens when Rex gets the call, but I won’t spoil anymore. Lets just say it got another eye roll from me.
After all my eye rolling the book got better for me. Lucky is brought back to the states to undergo testing, interrogation by Navy etc. Rex and Sawyer have to deal with the ramifications and what this means to their relationship. There is lots of time that Lucky is basically a prisoner of the Navy as they try to determine his status, and Rex and Sawyer having hot steamy sex and working through their relationship. There are twists and turns, action, hot sex and and I found myself not able to stop reading.
Overall, this book worked well for me and i would definitely recommend it to everyone who loves this series. The problems in the beginning for me are just my personal quirky issues.

Ok starting with very light BDSM. I love S.E. Jakes yea Ill say it i'm like fangirling BIG time. If she writes it I will follow LOL And it can't be written fast enough so perhaps Over the holidays Ill reread them all. Ok this story wow A freakin mazing! I loved having Clint and Jace and Rex and Sawyer in there too. But Lucky and Dash yea Hot as hell just like the rest of the boys in the series. The story was kick ass, surprising, hot and just that damn good! I loved it! Thank you Mishyjo for my birthday book! XO

4.5 stars, oh yes.
This is the sixth installment of the Bound series and it is the most emotionally draining and adrenaline-inducing of all of them.
Lemme ‘splain� ready? Ok, here we go.
About midway through chapter four, things got very complicated and I kept saying to myself, “self, oh, shit� oh, shit� how the fuck are they going to do this?� They being Rex and Sawyer� and Nate� and Josh. Yes. Really. I know, it’s mentioned in the blurb, but still� really. My ‘self� never really answered (is that good or bad?) but the next twenty chapters sure as hell did.
And there’s more, more of all of them. Normally, it’d be a challenge, an unwelcome burden to try and keep all of the characters straight with all of the jumping around between story lines. But here, the author knows these men very, very well. This made it easy since we can hear their distinct voices, their particular concerns and questions, and why each would feel and react the way that they do. It’s fun to have all of them right there in front of me, putting on this high stakes play.
Oh, and the humor is there. Yes, the brand of humor that I love: smart asshole humor.
As I stated in the first line up there, this is the most emotional book in this series. Many of these men have known each other for a long time, have survived hell on earth, are in relationships with each other that also now hold time and history. I’m trying not to include too many spoilers, but a perfect example of this � bittersweet? An ending? A promise?
About half way through and there is a line in which Josh/Lucky is thinking that explains a lot as far as all of his difficulties: should he remember? Does he want to remember? What will happen? Was that real or is this real? He thinks, “� because maybe if you’ve spent enough time in a mental ward, you become mental.� This pretty much feeds the rest of the story in regards to his actions and feelings.
Rex and Sawyer: holy fuckinoly hotness, batman. Yeah, that good. They’ve always been that good and it continues here, with more� and more.
There’s a mystery here, a well-woven one, surrounding Josh/Lucky, Dash, the entire team. My brain was working to figure out what the hell, and then we’d be back to the emotion and sensuality with Rex and Dash. Yeah, me too, the best kind of whiplash. Two very different stories unavoidably linked. I love being bounced around like this when they’re good stories, questions flying around, strewn about in a random pattern, the big picture having not yet materialized. But then again, I’m someone who enjoys the journey of a puzzle, not just the solution. ;)
Every now and then there is a jump in time, even what is just probably a few minutes, between sentences. I would backtrack and read that bit again to make sure I wasn’t missing something. Not a huge issue and it normally didn’t take me out of the story. They usually occurred in the middle of a tense, fast moving scene, so I could picture the words furiously appearing on the page as being written. That may make me a forgiving type and I’m fine with that because I don’t require perfection, as long as it’s good story, and this is.
It’s interesting. Sometimes the dialogue felt too wordy, especially for some men (not generalizing, using as a point) but then I’d remember: words, they’re one of the tools these men must use to do their jobs, to win, to sometimes survive. That’s not something you can really turn off and on and it spills over into their relationships, which are with men who are of the same ilk. I’d rather hear these words coming from their mouths than staying locked up in their minds, not sharing, which would keep them from having these very relationships � something they deserve and know life is too short to do without if at all possible.
Back to Rex and Sawyer for a moment. They finally are allowed the time to actually get to know each, much better, beyond the clear sexual chemistry, the need and want, and their work lives that they share. Some of the best scenes are between these two while they learn things about each other, things that both strengthen their connection and also move the story forward.
I don’t want to say too much about Dash other than he’s very important to the entire story. It’s more than halfway through the story before it’s explicitly laid out. Even then, what does it mean? His is an example of what happens through this entire book: one minute, I’m unsure of where this is all leading and then, bam, one of these characters says something that makes my head snap around and let out another “oh, holy shit�. Yeah.
Dash and Lucky: will they be able to find their way out? Find themselves again? Did they want to? Or was their beginning all that they needed, all that mattered. Some answers, yes, some questions remain. There is more to their story, I’m convinced.
I am very hesitant to add this last spoiler�. Shit, should I? Ok, Ok, I won’t but “fucking asshole� would precede and a lot of �!!!!!� would follow this particular character’s name. Yup. Why?? Why. How much is Rex expected to take?!
I felt that tug, more like a solid yank, of connection between all of these men. After their previous stories, their histories, they made that connection possible, demanded it, in this one.
You could probably read this book without first reading the others, but if you do that, some of the essential emotional punch here would be lost to you. At the very least, read to see how Jace, Clint, Rex and Sawyer start things out. Although, if you’re going to go that far, you might as well have the pleasurable experience (yup!) of seeing the progression, of both the characters and this author’s writing, in all of the books of the series.
If you like puzzles, like not knowing the answers, at least not right away, enjoy hot men in dangerous situations, both physical and of the heart, want that adrenaline rush and to feel your own heart race, then read this book. SE Jakes knows how to make all of this happen. ;)

This book was amazing... I think maybe my favorite from the series. Such incredible characters and the plots have all been fantastic. Really great.

Wow, what to say?? I loved it!!! I was grateful to receive an ARC version of this book and it did not disappoint especially if you love the series.
It starts of with Lucky (Josh, long lost captive SEAL and Rex's partner) in South Africa. He had washed up on shore and was rescued by a family who owned a bar on the beach who take him under their wing. He befriends the daughter, Emme, who also has a brother whom we meet, Dash, photographer, CIA agent. The story takes you on a journey of recognition, recovery, revenge and retribution. Through the story, Lucky has no memory of anything prior to the four years after being found on the beach. He is recognized by a former SEAL, taken back to the States, interrogated by the Navy for months about whether he is a traitor or UA (unauthorized absence). They are trying to figure out whether he is lying (as trained) or does he really have amnesia. Through these revelations, he has to confront his past relationship with Rex and his internal struggles trying to remember his past. He is a lovable character and is true to his previous descriptions by Rex from the past. He deals with the past with the help of his SEAL team and his new bodyguard and babysitter, Dash.
This book revolves around building a foundation of love with Rex and Sawyer. Boy do I love Sawyer, (my favorite scene is the one in the boat, but cannot say more) His personality and strength truly culminate in that scene. He struggles with the one thing he was scared of most, the ghost of the past lover of Rex who is not a ghost. He has to be supportive of Rex while trying to believe in their relationship that did not end because they broke up, but because he was taken. There are some wonderful, heartfelt and hot scenes with Rex and Sawyer. I love that "boy", and I even start loving Rex. Rex's internal struggles of guilt, love, discovery, and loyalty are something as well. Hell, all the guys that are involved in the previous mission all go through this and it breaks your heart for all of them...Especially Lucky (Josh).
We are introduced to new characters, Dash, (CIA agent), Cooper, (CIA/Navy Psych doctor), Emme (Dash's sister), and Uncle and Nate ex SEALs with Rex and Lucky (Josh). We see Jace and Clint throughout the book whom I love!! I am just wondering what the next book of MOH will be about, hope the series is not over.

It has "Hot" military men, "Hot" steamy scenes, great "self" discovery of the characters and "great" action with a twist you never suspect. The only thing that bums me out is that it is over. You will not be disappointed in this book, I read it in a night!! If you have not read it would help and if you have not read the series, you are truly missing out!! Great job by the author!!

Oh my goodness!!!!! I have just finished reading Bound to Break and I am speechless..................OK over being speechless now................. this installment in the Men of Honor series is BRILLIANT, I ABSOLUTELY loved it.
I first met Sawyer and Rex in Bound by Danger, , they fought their feelings for one another and then pulled their heads out of their - you know what - and fell in love. Josh aka Lucky was mentioned as being the team member/lover of Rex who did not return from a mission gone bad. This, of course, caused some concern for Sawyer. Well you can then imagine what it must have been like for Rex and Sawyer to discover that Josh is in fact not dead but very much alive and that he has no memory of life before he was found washed up on a beach in South Africa four year ago. This, of course, is the main focus of the story, when Lucky is taken back to the USA it has to be determined whether he has really lost his memory or is he just faking it and is now a terrorist.
SE has done a wonderful job of combining Sawyer and Rex's relationship with the new relationship between Lucky (Josh) and Dash. It was great seeing Sawyer and Rex's relationship grow and strengthen along side the start of Lucky and Dash's relationship.
The plot has some really good twists and turns in it, I didn't know who the baddie was until it was revealed, which was great. It was also really good getting to "see" Clint and Jace again and there interaction with Sawyer and to a lesser extent Rex.
The sex scenes were twice as hot this time around as you had two couples relationships being explored. What impressed me about SE's writing of the sex scenes is that there was a marked difference between the two couples scenes, if you had taken the names out of the script you would have still be able to tell that it was different couples being described.
I highly recommend Bound to Break, it is a wonderful edition to the Men of Honor series. I know I have said it before..... but if you haven't read this series.....you really MUST and if you are a follower of this series then you will not be disappointed with this newest edition to the series. I can not wait to read more.

Finally after teases of Josh in previous books, the answers are here. The latest book in this series had me sniffling and in need of some tissue paper close by. Amnesiac Lucky knew one day someone at the bar would be see him and recognize him. For four years, he had been recovering in a buffered zone of no memory or past baggage. He took one day at time enjoying his simple life and "adopted" family in South Africa. Now with a stranger claiming to know him and his adopted family's prodigal son returning, it's hell in a hand basket.
Ms. Jakes writes some heart-wrenching stories about military men. She just pulls out my heart, slices it up, rub salt into each gaping wound and then returns it to me with a smirk. Seriously, how does a reader not feel for Lucky aka Josh? First of all, I'm a hypocrite. I seriously have no problems with this label. Second, it is because of my sometimes judgmental ways. For an American military who serves his country to protect and defend to be tortured in this horrendous manner, I'm livid. I'm a hypocrite because I have no problems with American Military torturing terrorist in Gitmo. Honestly, the whole brouhaha about rectal re-hydration in the news just made me roll my eyes. In the kink world, we call it enema-play... and it's a hard fetish to find willing partners. (To give the enemas, not receive them!) My rationalize in why this is okay is because it's not taking a knife and ripping a man's body to shreds so that he is scarred for life. I could go on, but I digress.
The erotic part to this story is light and good. There is just a bit of rough kinky sex to make it good for me. I'm so far from vanilla now that unless there's a bit of biting and dominance play, it's hard for me to be aroused. Kudos to Ms. Sakes for slipping it in hard and fast.
The hard relationship complications Ms. Jakes tackles in this story has been brewing for a bit now. With Rex finding Josh after four years yet moving on with Sawyer is a very rough time. Josh and Dash's relationship is also fraught with tension and subterfuge. Still, there is always hope which is what makes this story good and not too heavy to bear. I love this series and highly recommend it to m/m lovers who enjoy romantic suspense with a twist of rough sex.

Lucky can't remember anything past 4 years ago when he was found on a beach in South Africa. He is adopted by the family that found him, given work in their bar, and treated like a member of the family. He's led a happy life till a man he doesn't recognize calls him Josh. As Lucky's past is unraveled, he learns he is a S.E.A.L. that was captured and tortured along with the rest of the men in his unit. His story is intertwined with Rex and Sawyer as well as Dash. Is he a traitor to the men he is bound to by honor?
This is a taut, hot, tightly woven mystery that has a wonderful twist, I did not see coming. Kudos to S.E.Jakes for once again proving she is at the top of the m/m genre in my opinion. Her stories are always well written, well crafted gems.

I went into this book with a mind set that Josh/Lucky was a problem. I am a Sawyer/Rex fan and I did not want that messed with. This turned out to be worries over nothing. SE Jakes has given us a roller coaster of a ride that hits all the right buttons. You have a chance to mourn a relationship that is gone, to celebrate a relationship that is growing stronger and root for a relationship just beginning. Dash turned out to be just what Lucky needed to regain his footing and move forward and Rex turned out to be the rock that Sawyer needed to cling to.
The relationship storylines were riveting...the mystery storyline was mind blowing. I literally could not put this book down. This is definitely the best book of the series so far.

I've only read one other book in this series. It didn't blow me away but it was decent so I thought I'd try another.
I have a question for fans of the series. Is there a book for Sawyer and Rex? I've looked through the backlist but can't find them and I enjoyed their relationship more than the MC's, Lucky and Dash, in this one.
I think that to really get the full impact I need to read the series from the beginning. There are a lot of characters here and a lot of back story bubbling up that I think I would appreciate more if I had followed it from the start.

I don't know how to adequately tell you about my love of this book, so I'm just gonna riff a little and type out my jumbled thoughts here for you...
What did I love? Lucky.
At first, I was not happy to find out Josh was alive. To me, Josh automatically represented a problem for Rex and Sawyer, whose relationship should not have to deal with this shit. It's too new and fresh, and they're still getting to know each other outside of work, learning about each other. The relationship is fragile.
Then I met him.
Josh isn't Josh anymore, he's Lucky, and Lucky is amazing. And then we met Dash. And then things take off really fast. And then? I'm on chapter 3 when I get home from work and I don't put it down until about 11:30 last night. I read while working out. I read while eating dinner. I read while sort of paying attention to my husband. (he was watching some stupid movie) I read until I couldn't see anymore, slept a few hours, and then woke up at 4 this morning to finish the book, then went back to sleep to dream about it. I ended up over sleeping by 45 minutes because I screwed up my sleeping pattern for this.
ANYWAY
I loved that there wasn't at ton of angst going on with the Rex/Sawyer relationship that it took away from Lucky. I loved that Rex stays true to Sawyer and never waivers. Not once. This leaves us to focus on the main issues in the story. This is all about Lucky, what happened to him, trust, betrayal, figuring it all out, new love, moving on with life, being happy. And my God! The shit this man has been through. My poor, sweet, and wonderful Lucky.
The story didn't go where I thought it would. It was not the typical angst driven ex-lover returns to the picture kind of thing. It ended up to be something different, refreshing, and wonderful. It ended up to be something that, as with all the other "Bound" books, reminds me of the men who are out there busing their asses for us. For our freedom. Women too, but since these books are all about the men, well, you know.
So, 5 big and beautiful stars for Rex and Sawyer. For Jace and Clint. For Dash. But most of all, for Lucky.

SE Jakes has done it again...
I just love her military men. They're so freaking sexy and I just want to have them all in my house and spend the day observing them.
Why didn't I give this story a 5 star rating... Even if I loved the plot and damn near melted after every chapter I wanted more. I felt completely and totally happy with Rex and Swayer's scenes, they got to explore other parts of their relationship and it was so sweet and raw and sexy, Jace's brother/best friend relationship with Swayer is amazing and his hilarious moment with Clint are just a freaking dream. But I felt dissatisfied about Lucky and Dash's relationship, everything happened too fast and I felt no connection there, so yeah...
Still, I read this just as fast as I eat Nutella and was enraptured with everything that happened, I was involved so much in it, I felt Lucky's desperation and doubt right along with him and I just loved this, it has it's sweet moments, it's sexy moment and suspense action to keep me on my toes.
SE Jakes never disappoints and she's still my #1 favorite author along with KA Mitchell and January can't get here soon enough so I can't get my greedy hand on the next book :)

The plot with Lucky's lost memories did hold my attention, so that was a plus. However, I expected, and wanted, more conflict with Rex. Also, why didn't the terrorists ever go back to kill Dash's family, or kill Lucky for not killing Dash's family like he had been "brainwashed" to do? Just stupid.

Lucky has no memories from before he washed up on shore in South Africa, and keeping a low profile is what he intends to do. But when a man walks into the bar where Lucky bartends and claims he was an ex-Navy Seal everyone thought was dead, Lucky’s life blows up in ways he never thought possible. Now, under suspicion of being turned, Lucky has to head back to the States and undergo therapy, and lie detector tests, and more.
Rex was once Lucky’s partner, but after four years of believing his partner dead, he had moved on. Now that Lucky’s back, Rex’s relationship with Sawyer is being threatened and neither man is willing to say goodbye. But Lucky’s return isn’t the only thing threatening Rex and Sawyer’s relationship. The terrorists who captured Rex’s Seal Team in the first place are back, and looking for revenge.
I can’t stress enough just how much was going on in this book. Not only did we get TWO romances, but there was also the speculation around Lucky’s allegiance, the mystery around the terrorist organization that held the Seal Team, and the big conclusion that shocked even me!
Let me start with the two romances because they were so totally different, and both were so amazing! Rex and Sawyer had been dating awhile, but were still stuck in that unknown phase. Are they serious, can they be together outside of a war zone, do they have a future? And answering those questions all while having the unknown factor of Josh (Lucky) hanging over their heads was so well done. I loved these two together, and was so glad that they got their HEA.
Lucky and Dash were another story. Poor Lucky is struggling with his memories, but the attraction to Dash is too much to overcome. I loved that these two had way more obstacles than the normal couple, and yet at the end of the day, none of it mattered. Despite the fact that they barely knew each other, they knew enough to know that all the other BS, the drama, the angst, wouldn’t be enough to tear them apart. For that, I loved these two more than I ever thought possible!
The mystery surrounding Lucky and retrieving his memories was left a little unsettled for me. I wanted him to get his memories back, and was a little bummed that never happened. However, the way it all tied up at the end was amazing and shocking and awesome and everything I can’t even put into words. Jakes did a fabulous job of knocking me out of my socks, and I loved it! I never saw it coming, and although I felt like I got hit with the broadside of a barn, it was awesome!
All in all the sixth book in the Men of Honor series is probably my favorite Jakes book to date. I loved the fact that there was so much going on, so much action and backstory and threads to unravel. Although there were times when I struggled to keep up with all the characters, all the backstory, it was 100% worth it. I loved both romances, I loved the mystery that surprised me, and I can’t wait to go back and do a Jakes re-read!

Like the previous volumes of this amazing series about military men and the various issues they have to contend with—both while inside the military and once they leave—this book is an intense mix between nail-biting tension, fascinating psychology, and characters who seem to jump off the pages they are so real. The two couples starring in this installment are linked in so many ways, and even though their ties may be the most emotional, the bonds they share with their various team mates are as strong, if without the romantic element.
Lucky is the central character in many ways, and it is his story that has consequences for everyone involved. He is the one who suffered torture to the point of causing amnesia. When he is recognized by one of his ex-team mates four years after being presumed dead, he has to face his past � both because he is now suspected of treason and because he personally needs to find out what happened. Having fallen for Dash, the man who ends up turning him in, is difficult for Lucky, but the suspense that follows as they begin to reconstruct what actually happened after Lucky was captured is even tougher n him. As for having a relationship under these circumstances? It may seem almost impossible, but these two men have far more in common and are more closely linked than either of them suspects initially. I was stunned by some of the revelations!
The second couple affected by all of this is Rex, Lucky’s former commanding officer and lover, and Rex’s new lover, Sawyer. Rex is determined to help, to try to alleviate the guilt he leaves over leaving Josh, now Lucky, behind. And Rex may be determined to leave the former relationship in the past, but Sawyer cannot help but feel scared the former lovers will discover they still have feelings for each other. No matter what Rex does to convince him otherwise (and some of his “methods� lead to some extremely hot interactions in the bedroom), the doubts are very hard to quieten down.
This book is super-intense, both emotionally and due to all the complications occurring when trust, or the lack of it, begins to overshadow how the men look at each other. I felt for Lucky and Dash, I could see how Sawyer’s fear made sense, and Rex’s determination to do the right thing touched my heart. As for the final twist and revelation? Mind-boggling is far too mild a descriptor for that shock!
If you like thrillers involving military men and secret agents, if you enjoy a good action/adventure with a good deal of human psychology and some plot twists that will might shock you, and if you're looking for hot and passionate relationships that will touch your heart, then you will probably like this book.

Rex is determined to help, to try to alleviate the guilt he leaves over leaving Josh, now Lucky, behind. And Rex may be determined to leave the former relationship in the past, but Sawyer cannot help but feel scared the former lovers will discover they still have feelings for each other. No matter what Rex does to convince him otherwise (and some of his “methods� lead to some extremely hot interactions in the bedroom), the doubts are very hard to quieten down.
This book is super-intense, both emotionally and due to all the complications occurring when trust, or the lack of it, begins to overshadow how the men look at each other. I felt for Lucky and Dash, I could see how Sawyer’s fear made sense, and Rex’s determination to do the right thing touched my heart. As for the final twist and revelation? Mind-boggling is far too mild a descriptor for that shock!
If you like thrillers involving military men and secret agents, if you enjoy a good action/adventure with a good deal of human psychology and some plot twists that will might shock you, and if you're looking for hot and passionate relationships that will touch your heart, then you will probably like this book.

This is becoming one of my favorite series because it gets progressively better with each book and I loved this one. There are two sets of MCs including Rex and Sawyer from who explore their relationship more fully after the trauma of finding out that Rex's former life partner, and fellow SEAL, Josh, is still alive, four years after they believed they saw him cremated.
Josh is suffering from memory loss and, not only has no memory from any time prior to waking up on a beach four years before, but also has no desire to get back together with Rex. He's met Dash, a CIA operative, who shows up just as one of Josh's former SEAL team members recognizes Josh. Not so much a coincidence, since Dash has been following those members who had survived a time of imprisonment and torture when Josh did not.
The story is a multi-faceted, complex mystery and romance rolled into one. The dynamics of both couples are amazing and the author gives ample time to each couple's story. I enjoyed the fact that many of the MCs from previous books made an appearance, including Jace and Clint.
I'm not positive but I think Dash may have made a cameo appearance briefly in one of the previous stories or in or it's sequel. In any event, the world these men inhabit is exciting and dangerous and makes for fabulous stories. By all means, if you haven't started this series, start it now.

This story was a good one for loose ends, and to tie events together. I like how there was a surprise ending, and what looked like no way could be an HEA or even an HFN turned out better than expected.
The only reason it wasn't a 5-star for me was that some of the segues and thought processes felt a little rushed or jumbled to me, but overall I was satisfied with the story in tying in the rest of the series.
I hope Jakes does more military stories, as she is getting a rhythm and some of the bumpiness is smoothing out. I enjoyed getting to know these guys and appreciate the opportunity to revisit former characters.
If you've read the others in the series, this is a must read.

I wasn’t sure I really wanted to read this one, but it ended up as one of my favourites for the series. I felt for Lucky early. He did well to keep his calm and I kind of wanted to see him lose it at least at Dash who kind of sold him out. I understood it from Dash’s part but in some ways he went about it the wrong way. It put Lucky in a position without anyone he really knew or could trust.
I enjoyed that it gave closure for Rex and the other seals. I also wanted to see Sawyer lose it too. He was far too calm, and accepting. I liked where all the guys ended up relationship wise.

When I picked it up to read, I was concerned that I was going to miss something with it being book 6 in the series, but it wasn’t difficult to pick up on the characters. If this is the quality of writing and storytelling we can expect from SE Jakes I must get all the books in the series as soon as possible.
These two men were strong, masculine, sexy and very much your typical alpha male. From the beginning there is this chemistry, this powerful sexual tension between the two, it was within minutes of knowing each other that Lucky ended up pinned to a wall by Dash.
Lucky has no memory of his life before showing up almost dead on the shore in South Africa. A family took him in, cared for him and offer him a home. But something has been always in the back of his mind, and the random appearance of the SEAL calling him “Josh� starts putting those thoughts towards the front of his mind.
Turns out Josh was part of a rescue mission, his team members thought him dead. He is not dead, but he was no memories of his previous life at all.
Josh, a decorated SEAL, was also in a relationship with one of his team mates, Rex.
Josh is brought back to US, as he is considered a traitor until proven otherwise, and we start the journey into putting together Josh’s past with Lucky’s present. One journey that is full of confusion, doubts, friendships restored, relationship put to test.
Rex, has moved on, and finding that his Josh was not dead but just missing puts a dark cloud over his relationship with Sawyer. Reading about the two was really interesting, because it was not just about their feelings, but it was about this part of Rex that he can only explore with Sawyer. And Sawyer’s need for submission that he is just now discovering.
Bound to Break has it all. Mystery, you really don’t know who to trust. Kick ass female secondary characters with Dash’s sister. Alpha leading males, all of them. Rough hard sex! I know you are all up for it ;). There is also romance and intimacy, but is not too sweet, which works perfect for these men.
This one is going into my favorites of 2013 without a doubt.

Bound to Break is about the relationship of two couples, Rex and Sawyer and Lucky (Josh) and Dash their lives having been so intertwined for four years that one story would not be complete without the other.
The book is intriguing, fast paced and the sex is hot for both couples!

A fast paced and intense story that kept my interest all the way through. The characters were well developed and interesting and I couldn't get enough of them. I especially loved seeing Rex and Sawyer together. So hot. *fans self* I was clueless as to what Lucky's return would mean for them, though, so I was on the edge of my seat.
Not sure if this is a spoiler, but just in case:
That changed a bit toward the end, but it still felt rushed.
I liked the twist at the end, but that part of the story also felt a bit rushed. The build up took a long time and then it was over so fast. Also, the razor blade thing? That got a skeptical brow rise. In fact, that whole scene felt a bit off to me. It was intense and exciting, but I had a difficult time picturing how things were happening and I had to reread several passages to see if I missed something.
Overall, though, I really enjoyed this latest installment of the Men of Honor series :)
Side notes:
What happened to Nate and Uncle once everyone was stateside? They disappeared until the wrap up at the end.
Some mention of condoms would have been nice .

Bound to Break is the sixth book in S.E. Jakes� fabulous Men of Honor series. This series is full of strong, alpha, military guys and thrilling suspense plots and this one is no exception. There is a ton going on in this book, with two main couples and lots of subplots and it would have been easy for this to become a jumbled mess. But Jakes handles this all so well, keeping multiple threads going at the same time, connecting different story lines together, and always keeping a nice balance to the romance and the suspense.
