Horse shifter, Tristan Hayes, doesn’t believe in relationships. He believes in hot, sweaty one-night stands that leave him aching for days.
Private investigator, Wesley James, is looking for someone to settle down with, but it’s never occurred to him that someone could be a man.
Tristan loves a good game, so he flirts with Wes, never thinking anything serious will come of his attraction. Wes fends him off, but after three months of cat and mouse, both men are worn out from fighting what they feel.
When a young woman from Tristan’s herd goes missing, he asks for Wes’s help. Tristan keeps up his flirtatious façade until Wes calls his bluff, taking him out for dinner and dancing. As they search for the missing shifter, Tristan struggles to believe Wes could care for the man Tristan hides beneath his abrasive exterior.

The iffy factor keeps getting reduced per each book that goes by. Tristan and Wes have a bigger age gap than Billy and Levi, but Wes isn't in a position of power over Tristan so it doesn't feel as imbalanced. There are still way too many sex scenes, it almost hinders the plot rather than helping it forward. The plot felt interesting, once it started to flow. I do wish that we'd had more plot and less sexy.
This book is part of a series and is best read in order. After being hurt in the past Tristan no longer believes in relationships, he believes in hot hook-ups and one-night stands to keep him satisfied and he can’t resist flirting with Wes and tempting the straight man. Wesley is looking for something serious, he never thought it would be with a man, a man he has tried to ignore for the last few months. When a member of Tristan’s herd goes missing he calls Wes to investigate, Tristan keeps up his flirting nature until Wes calls his bluff. As they search for the missing woman Tristan struggles with his feelings and Wes has to show Tristan he sees beneath the abrasive façade.
This is a great addition to the Wild R Farm series bringing Tristan’s story to us and showing us the insecure man beneath the confident, flirtatious exterior. Tristan has been trying to tempt Wes with his constant flirting for months, but when Wes calls his bluff he doesn’t know what he wants to do because Wes just isn’t one-night stand material. Wes has never been tempted by a man before, he has always been attracted to women, but Tristan just pushes his buttons, now he just needs to convince Tristan of Tristan’s own worth.
I really enjoyed this story because of the turmoil that Tristan goes through as he tries to make sense of what he truly feels. Tristan was hurt deeply by his first love and it has moulded how Tristan now acts towards men, when Wes calls his bluff he is left reeling. Wes can see the true Tristan and he wants that man, convincing Tristan is hard though especially when Tristan keeps running. The investigation that they both work on takes a harsh turn when they think they have found the location of the missing woman and they need the help of their friends to get back out alive.
This is a really well written story that combines danger and love really well, we see depths to Tristan that scares him and we see Wes accept his love for Tristan. I really liked how their relationship developed in this story and Tristan’s reaction to his newly discovered feelings for Wes, with Wes you see that he may have struggled at first with how he felt for Tristan, but he embraces it when he can no longer deny it to himself. They are brilliant together and Wes has to be patient as Tristan struggles with how he feels, because of that painful struggle you, at times, want to beat the crap out of the person who shattered Tristan so much.
I recommend this to those who love cowboys, private investigators, danger, discovering your own worth, accepting love, hot sex, difficult times and a very happy ending.
Finally! It's Tristan's book! Wes, too, but lets face it, Tristan always steals the show. He's such a fun and flirty character. Up until this book Wes manages to resist Tristan's advances but that's all over now. This cover is just gorgeous and I think the guys on the cover are pretty spot on with my idea of Wes and Tristan. Tristan's mom calls him home to tell him she has a bad feeling about one of his fellow stallion shifters that hasn't been seen or contacted her brother. The young woman could be off sewing her wild oats but he promises his mom he'll look into it. He knows an investigator he can hire to find her. This gives Tristan the perfect excuse to see Wes again. The man has been consuming his thoughts for weeks.
Wes agrees to take the job, forcing them to spend time together. Wes sees glimpses into the real Tristan. He likes the flirty and fun side of Tristan but he's only interested in a relationship and he doesn't think that Tristan is a one man kind of guy. He's also never been with a man. Tristan wants Wes. Bad. When he realizes it's more than just teasing and a game, he panics. Tristan never expected to find “the one.
The case is still ongoing and there is no escaping each other. When the men get a lead on where the missing shifter girl is ,they are thrust into danger and forced to face their feelings for each other, but is it too late?
I was quite surprised to find out how much deeper Tristan was than the flirty, slutty, funny guy we're used to. Although I wanted to smack him when he ran, he got himself together. He may not be toughest shifter but he's a good guy and brave in his own way. I love how he annoys Cole! Their scenes together are so fun.
Wes and Tristan make such a great couple. They balance each other. Tristan's silliness with Wes' seriousness. I join in Tristan's frustration when Wes doesn't respond to his flirtatious bating. He's so clever and cute, how can Wes resist? Wes isn't a shifter, but he's protective; Tristan is a shifter but isn't a tough guy - which made for a refreshing spin on the supe/ human relationship. Their sex is hot and fun. I love that Wes was honest about learning by watching porn.
The group of religious fanatics trying to “cure shifters drew a parallel with “curing homosexuality making me strongly dislike the baddies. Oh, and they were cruel ,nasty people. I'm very excited to read about the new couple set up in this book. Two pages had me hooked and pouting that I had to wait for their stories. I am not known for my patience. Another entertaining installment in the Wild Farm series. Bring on Will and Ryan!!!
Silvia Violet pulls every one of my shifter strings. Every. Single. Time.
When I was first introduced to Tristan and Wes in book two of the series, I thought ‘must know more. I pleaded, I prodded, I begged for their story. All I ever heard was, “It’s coming. Well, I’m not a patient person. This time, however, I’m glad I waited. This story, Embracing Need, was SO worthwhile.
Tristan has always been a wild stallion. He’s been ridden a few times (okay, more than a few), but he has never been broken. Many men have tried, none has ever succeeded (except for the one who broke his heart, and I still want to smack that guy in the face). Then Tristan meets Wes, a man who pushes every single one of his buttons. He teases Wes, he flirts with him, he offers to make Wes’s naughty dreams come true. Wes even shoots a man to protect Tristan. (This happens in book two, Arresting Love. Though it’s not required for you to read the other two books in the series (the first is Finding Release), I can honestly say you will want to know all the characters so you don’t get lost wondering who is with whom.) Plus the stories are freaking hot anyway.
So, in book three, Tristan continues his flirtations. Wes, however, stuns Tristan by making a few comments of his own. When Tristan and Wes are thrown together by the disappearance of Amy, a member of Tristan’s herd, things finally come to a head (in a very shocking way).
There is a new drug on the market, Xiocidrill, and the effects it has on shifters is devastating. It’s being touted by the religious fanatics as a ‘cure for shifters, but that’s not what it really does. Wes and Tristan find out the hard way that the effects of the drug may destroy a shifter.
Along the way, Wes makes a new friend who may figure prominently in the next book (and when is that one due out, Ms. Violet? Hmmm?) who helps out when the chips are down and immediately worked his way into my heart.
Silvia Violet does shifters right. They’re more than human, but they retain their human hearts and frailties. They’re not gods, they don’t think they’re better than humans. They just want what everyone wants. The chance to live their lives, free from persecution, with those they love.
I, for one, love them all.

Okay, I admit that Silvia Violet totally blackmailed me to get me to read this. She told me I could get a sneak peek if I read a book in a series she loves. To read this book I'd have walked down the street naked while whistling Yankee Doodle.
I have loved every one of the books in this series and this one is no different. The interplay between Tristan and Wes was too delicious to put it down. And the introduction of a new character to the farm sets up the idea for the next book.
Tristan and Wes are hot, sexy, and SO freaking awesome together. It's my hope that the author might find a way to do a spin-off just for them. They are quirky, fun, hella funny, and did I mention sexy?
I'm eager for the next visit to the Wild R. Bring it on.
I was hooked on this story from the first page. There's non-stop action and a perfect balance of emotion and sexual tension. I love Wes and Tristan together. I love thus series. It is such an intriguing blend of shifters and western.
As Robert A. Heinlein once said: “Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own." Wesley James and Tristan Hayes, from 'Embracing Need' by Silvia Violet, are both missing something in their lives. Wes wants a deeper, stable relationship; while Tristan is satisfied with his current attitude of love 'em and leave 'em. Neither of them have ever dreamed that the road to happiness may lie with each other.
Wes is a great character—smart, handsome, well dressed, and sexy. Until he met Tristan, he thought he was completely straight. Being attracted to another man is a real surprise, especially since that other man is none other than Tristan, who has been a thorn in his side since day one. Wes is onto him though. As obnoxious as Tristan appears, with his constant sarcasm and blatant innuendos, beneath them, Wes sees glimpses of the real Tristan, one who is a frightened, wounded individual with low self-esteem. Wes wants to help Tristan find himself again. When a crisis occurs, their feelings for each other intensify and Wes becomes Tristan's knight in shining armor. Whether they will work together is still debatable.
Tristan is wild, flirtatious, and downright obnoxious at times; but it's mostly bravado. He's hiding behind these behaviors because he's been so deeply hurt in the past. He's even convinced himself this is the way he wants to lead his life—no strings, no commitment, just loose and free. His crush on Wes is driving him crazy, but he thinks Wes is straight. He is physically attracted to him, but keeps fighting it, because he knows that any entanglement with Wes would be more than a one-night stand. His feelings for Wes already go beyond anything he thought he'd ever feel again and it bewilders him; although he keeps flirting, he's as skittish as the horse shifter he is. I wasn't so sure that I really wanted Tristan and Wes together, considering Tristan's attitude, but this story sheds a lot of light on why he acts the way he does. Therefore, I was relieved when Tristan was able to find closure and move on.
This is the third book in the 'Wild R Ranch' series and it was great to see the characters again that we've come to know and love. Although it could be read alone, I recommend reading the series in sequential order. It's an enjoyable love story with supernatural elements, handsome men, and hot sex. How can you lose? I recommend this book to all the Wild R Farm fans out there and to those new to the series as well. Thanks, Silvia, for inviting us to the Wild R Farm again. I look forward to our next visit.
NOTE: This book was provided by the author for the purpose of a review on .
I knew Tristan and Wes were going to be absolutely smoking hot and I was right! So far this is my favorite book of the series. Ms Violet has definitely got her writing chops working overtime and doing a great job of it.
Loved, loved, loved Tristan. How could you not? Tries to be so tough and like nothing bothers him when you just know he's hiding the soft, gooey, vulnerable core. And, he's a little snarky and funny - fabulous MC! And Wes is just perfect in his role. Sometimes it's difficult to trust a "straight" guy realizing he's attracted to a man but the author did such a wonderful job here that it's completely believable. I totally fell for Wes and he's perfect for Tristan!
Now, I'm really looking forward to the next story!
Embracing Need is the third book in the Wild R Farm series by Silvia Onyx. This book was previously released under her other penname of Silvia Violet but this is my first time reading the novel. I love this series and Embracing Need does not disappoint. This is the story of Tristan and Wesley who we meet in Arresting Love. This is a stand alone novel and you do not need to read the others in the series to understand the plot of this book but I suggest reading them because they are good and they give you some background on the characters, especially Tristan. His growth as a character is one of the strongest plot points in this book. Tristan is a horse shifter who works on the Wild R Farm. He comes off as a bratty flirt but in reality, it is his defense mechanism to handle a past hurt. The one person who seems to be able to see right through him is Wesley, who is a human, but also straight. He thought he was until he met Tristan and then he fell not only for Tristan’s charm but the spirit inside him. Tristan just needs to learn to trust himself and his heart again to Wes and allow himself to be happy again. I enjoyed the development of this love story a lot. Tristan and Wes find themselves first and then each other in their own ways. Embracing Need introduces some new characters to the Wild R Farm but also brings back characters from the first two books, emphasizing family and home is where you heart is. I received an advanced reader copy for my honest review.
Fist of all I have to say (well, write) that I loved this book! It is the first paranormal romance I read involving shifters, and I really enjoyed it. The story talks about the relashionship between Tristan and Wes. They are two very different men, not only because the first is a horse shifter and the second is 100% human, but also because they have both a different temper and personality. Tristan in particular tries to hide himself behind the armour created by his sharp tongue. They come together when a woman, belonging to Tristan’s herd, suddenly disappears under suspicious circumstances. The two men were already friends, but this situation takes them even closer, until they manage to solve the case, and not only that... Friendship, snark, family, love, “herd mentality, and a (very) small amount of angst complete the plot. The book is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone (that’s what I did!), without missing anything. In any case, in the end, you will be so captivated by this paranormal universe, that you will feel the need for more. Absolutely recommended if you’re into paranormal stories!
I won this ARC in an author sponsored contest, my review is my honest feeling about what I read.
First what I liked. Believable characters. Good plot. Interesting interaction among characters. Many types of shifters working together. Humans not thought of less than.
What I didn't like: Antiquated views of characters. Macho BS Slut shaming
Tristan and Wes are working together to find a member of Tristan's herd (he is a horse shifter). Wes is a human PI. Wes portrays himself as straight but is attracted to Tristan. From views of characters, I feel this is a re-release rather than an edited reprinting of the story. Too bad It would have been better with a little tweaking of character's opinions and views in my opinion.

This book is my favorite so far of the series. I love Tristan; he has so many hidden layers. When he first showed up in the series, it seemed like he couldn't be taken seriously. However, Tristan is a great guy, who has been hurt deeply. I love how Wes always sees beyond the mask that Tristan wears and calls him on it. I'm also glad that Wes didn't let Tristan's fears get in the way for long. I am also thankful that Wes made a decision and opened himself up to the feelings he had for Tristan. I'm glad that they solved the case and things worked out so well for everyone.
Be sure to get the free novella from the link at the end of the book. The extra insight into Wes and Tristan's relationship was hot and fun.
I really enjoyed this latest book in the Wild R Farm series. Tristan is in need of Wes's help. One of his herd is missing and he really needs Wes's help in finding her. Wes is a PI who has helped them before and can be trusted. Tristan flirts with Wes at every opportunity and the way that Tristan makes him feel is new and confusing for him. Once he makes a decision however, he is all in. Tristan is hesitant and scared and pushes Wes away for fear of getting hurt like he did in the past. Can Tristan let go of the past and embrace the future with Wes? Such a great story, I laughed, cried and swooned during the hot steamy times. I can't wait for the next book in this amazing series...well done!!
This book is fantastic and I loved it! We head back to the Wild R Ranch for Tristan and Wes’s story and what a tale it is. I love the way the two find their way to each other even though the road there is a bit bumpy. The chemistry is off the charts and the back and forth between the two is a hoot to read when Tristan is being a bit devilish! There is a bit of danger and some tough love from good friends and it makes this book an absolute must read!
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
I really enjoyed reading about Tristian and Wes’s story. This installment so far has been one of my favorites from this series. I love the journey, this story took, and showing the different aspects of Tristian and why he was the way he was. I also enjoyed Wes’s personality so much and I’m so glad that he looked beyond Tristian façade and gave their relationship a try. This book was very entertaining, well written and inspiring. I truly enjoyed this reading this book and can’t wait to see what this author has planned for next installment in this series. Great read must read!!!
When playboy shifter Tristan teams up with human PI, Wes to track down a missing member of his herd, he didn’t expect to be drawn to the Wes. Working together ignites a spark between them and as they get to know each other on a deeper level the attraction between them becomes harder to deny.
A plot full of suspense, action, passion and two characters who help each other in ways that neither expected. A fantastic addition to the series.
This is the third book of the Wild R Farm series and at the end of book two was a hint to the story to come. I love how the story arc finds his way. How Wes trust his feelings and isn’t afraid to act on them. The way Tristan has to learn to live with his feelings. I get the feeling I only read books that made me cry in a good way, but this was again a, don’t read in public because I cried so much, five star read.
Embracing Need (Wild R Farm #3) Tristian fun, flirty, serious, also afraid to show his feelings. Tristian has been flirting with Wes since he meet him, however Wes is straight, so everyone thought. Wes has never been with a man before and is confused by his feelings. He takes the chance with Tristian. Lots of ups and downs, running away and kidnapping. My favorite book of the series. Can’t wait for Will and Ryan’s book. I was given a free copy of this book and voluntarily leave a honest review.
Tristan and Wes are tonnes of fun, but not huge amounts of meat (hahahahahaha I'm such a dork). The story has lots to it, but the drama fell flat. It was the drama pushing the story rather then character growth and change. It's still well written and hot af, but just not quite there with the characters as I would have liked.
3.75 stars rounded up I enjoyed this story more than the last one, maybe because of the kidnapping and search plot. It was also good to see Tristan both accept his need for love and be encouraged to be the free spirit he is at heart. Maybe I'll be reading more of the series sooner than I had expected I would be...
Tristan is a horse shifter and when one of his herd is in trouble he asks Wes to help find her. Wes is a PI and his feeling for Tristan is all new for him. The sparks between Tristan and Wes are off the page. However, Tristan is afraid and this gets in the way. This had low/med angst, steam and some really bad awful humans trying to drug shifters.
This was another fabulous edition of the Wild R Farm series. Tristan and Wes were such fun to read about. The series only continues to get better with each new couple. And, it's always exciting seeing the previous characters with the new interactions.
Another great book by this talented author. I received an ARC for my honest review. I highly recommend this book, as well as the series.
: This was the first book I read in the series, and I’m assuming I missed a lot of Tristan and Wes’s back story because this just jumped right in and with what little I read, there is no way Wes fell for Tristan that quickly and with that little to go on. The story was interesting, but I would recommend starting at the beginning because jumping in mid series wasn’t enjoyable.
Beneath his flirty exterior, runs a young man who have been hurt before and West is the only one who sees Tristan for what he really is. Wes is the only person who Tristan let himself to open up, show his vulnerable side.
Silvia Onyx has done it again within the next book in this beloved book 3. She continues to knock our socks with new characters, but at the same time, we get visitors from previous books. The shifters are real, but they don't use it to rub our face it and think they are better than us. Silvia Violet has nailed the paranormal romance genre with Silia Onyx, and I can't wait for more from this author.
I absolutely loved this story. The characters are so well written and I love getting to see the other characters from the farm. This is such a wonderful series and I can’t wait for the next book.
I haven’t read a shifter story in a long time. Since I like the books from this author, I thought I’d give it a try. It did not disappoint, I love the chemistry between Wes and Tristan. Another great read from this author.
I loved how Tristan loves to push all of Wes’s buttons but then Wes turns the table on him and he doesn’t know how act even though he has feelings for Wes. Things turn dangerous when investigating Amy’s disappearance.
