When Garrett Andrews finds something that catches his eye, he goes after it, letting nothing stand in the way of what he wants to possess. The first woman to arouse his heart could be the one person who helps him to finally open up and feel again.

Laurel Hart was a swimming champion until a frightful event and unknown health issues derailed her career. With a recent degree from MIT in Bio-Medical Engineering and an offer to join one of the leading innovators of medical equipment in the world, she plans on making a new life for herself; letting nightmares from her past stay in the past, or so she thinks.

Neither of them wants to date, but she finds herself drawn to him and Garrett uses every excuse to be near her. Laurel’s afraid to let anyone get close, but finds solace in his arms. Garrett is finally able to be himself around someone. Together, they discover a connection that manages to soothe both their souls and starts opening them up to new possibilities.

Once Garrett finds out about Laurel’s past, all rules in regards to "relationships" are changed, because one false move could drive her away. He attempts to calm her nightmares and gain her trust so he can show her who he really is and the relationship he desires from her.

Will they be able to overcome the damage their hearts have encountered? Can they find happiness? Can they trust their minds or will life throw each of them another curveball? Only time will tell if they can learn to trust.

I grew up in a small town in South Florida and moved to Central Florida to attend college. I married my friend, love, and soul mate and still reside in the area with our amazing son, and a feisty, four-legged little doggie boy.

In my books, I draw on my background in healthcare, business, and science, along with my husband’s engineering and wireless technology knowledge.

I love to cook and create in the kitchen and on the bbq grill. I sometimes lose myself in a song at the piano. I enjoy crafting, amusement parks, and the beach!

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The H was fantastic. He was so possessive, extremely protective, and utterly obsessed with the h. The sex scenes in this book are SUPER HOT!!! I even liked the h and for the first time in a really long time there was no slutty best friend. Her friends were normal people just like her. I can't wait to continue this series and, hopefully if the author keeps creating such amazing H's, read future books by her.

This book was great. It is almost 3 in the morning and I am just now finishing. I couldn’t put it down. This book absolutely had me hooked from page one. This does remind me of Fifty Shades of Grey but not in a copy cat kind of way. This is the book I have been searching for on all those lists that say “If you liked Fifty Shades you should read these. I have not found a book as good as Fifty Shades until now.

Laurel is a girl about to graduate college. Yes just like Ava but so different. Laurel had a terrible experience while in college putting her off men and making her daily life a bit miserable. She meets Garrett during an interview for a job. She feels this strange pull towards him that she has never experienced before but he makes her feel safe and comfortable.

Garrett is head of HR for a company. He is hot and likes to be in control. He does have some similarities to Christian Grey but they have their differences too. I loved Garrett. He is definitely added to my book boyfriend list. I don’t think I could get enough of him.

There’s no way to go into much detail on this book or what happens without giving things away. This is a must read. The passion and emotions in the book felt so real. The sex scenes rocked and the way Garrett controlled everything was perfect. The way he played certain things really had me guessing too.

Anyone that reads this post should definitely read this book. Thank you to the Author for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. What that should say is AMAZING book. :)

I struggled to get into this book, the found parts of it predictable and was able to guess quite a bit, and then of course it ended on a bloody cliffhanger! You know how much I hate cliffhangers, but.. Book two is on my kindle so fear not.

With all of the above I shouldn't have enjoyed this book, but I did.

Laurel, wow, what can you say, she's had a truly crappy time of things hasn't she, and I admit to being concerned at the way she let's Garrett control her, how quickly he drew her in, but I don't think he has any intention of hurting her.

Garrett, he's turning out to be a complex character, aside from his controlling nature I quite like him, though I suspect he's hiding some Dom tendencies he's not yet shown to Laurel.

I loved the medical aspect of the book, the passion when Laurel talks about her work in advancing prosthetics.

I suspect there are more fireworks to come in book two, the scene has been set in several areas, and it promises to be an enjoyable read.

Give the book a chance, I'm glad I did.

Loved the book very similar to fifty shades of grey. Laurel, very smart and beautiful graduating from MIT and was offered a job in Florida. Garrett Andrews, Hr interview laurel and gave her an offer from Mr. Waters that she couldn't confuse. Laurel was able to get her cousin grace a job too and became roommates. She was glad to have family around to confined. Laurel had bad experience with chase and was afraid of dating. She also had fainting spells. They story goes to kinesiology studying bio medical, rape, diabetes, stalking, sex scenes extremely hot. The only thing that was getting me annoyed was how Garrett was so controlling by putting Laurel clothes out to wear and ordering her food. I felt she was a child at times with no say. But the story was great and amazing. Highly recommend. I give a 4+.

I really wanted to give this book a higher rating; but I just couldn't. After everything Laurel had been through I had trouble understanding why she would instantly trust a guy like Garret who was super controlling and used terminology which made him seem like a stalker/control freak. The whole book just seemed a little too 50 Shades of Grey for me to really enjoy it. Another problem I had with the book was the issues revolving around the low blood sugar levels. As a type 1 diabetic myself, I just found it very unbelievable and wished the author had done some more research before writing it.

I loved this story so much. The characters are intense but you just fall in love with them. It had a roller coaster of emotions where you were happy for what was happening with the characters, but then you were sad for them, then happy again. Just when I thought I had it figured out it would twist and change and that just made me love it more. Did I mention the sexy, melt my panties, hot as hell, Garrett Andrews. He is a little mysterious and I can't wait to find out more about him in this series but let me tell you he turns me in to mush. In case you haven't noticed I LOVED this one and hate me, disagree with me, whatever but I liked this one more than any of the Fifty Shades books, don't get me wrong I liked them, but I can see this one being just as big if not bigger. Can't wait for more! Great job Cynthia!

I received an ARC in return for an honest review. My review is my own and is in no way swayed because I received a copy to review. I have reviewed as though I have purchased the content and whether I would be satisfied or not.

I really wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did, I thought it was going to be a pleasant read, the synopsis suggested enough to keep me entertained but it went further that just entertainment, I really did sink into Garrett and Laurel's story.

I liked Laurel, she'd been through a lot with Chase and it had left her a different person, she was hiding behind unflattering clothes and never wanting to catch anyone's attention. She did wind me up a couple of times but that makes me like the book even more because she was feeling real and I wanted her to do things differently sometimes. Her health issues added to the realness although in this area I did have reservations about previous diagnoses and how it hadn't been properly detected before.

Garrett, well what can I say, he's dominant, he's got a secret, he goes after what he wants and he's pretty much everyone's dream who likes the 'take control man and don't argue' personna.

The storyline is if I am honest a little bit predictable, events seem to fall into place too easily, sometimes we want 1 + 1 to add up to 3 and this isn't the case in this book. There are no left wing shockers, it pans out pretty much how your assuming it's going. But (oh I love a but) in this case I felt it was totally ok, the writing was good enough that it didn't matter that it was going the way I thought it was going to. The characters and the way the story was written was enough to be a really enjoyable read.

And as for the heat factor, Cynthia got this spot on I think, she didn't turn every event into a sexfest, she picked the important times to get all erotic and sexy and left us imagining on our own at other times and I really liked that. I also liked the fact that Laurel actually left Garrett hanging a couple of times

I am really looking forward to reading Learning to Let Go, I need to see what happens to Garrett and Laurel and whether they get their HEA or not.......

I was given this by Roses Book Snobs in exchange for an honest review

At the rate I'm going my personal top 10 is going to be endless :-D

Learning to Trust is phenomenal ! BE WARNED the ending is a major cliff hanger ! A major WTH moment for me !!!! I want to stalk the author and beg her , yes beg her , on my knees ,puppy eyes included to tell me what happens, my other option would be to go all Kathy Bates (Stephen King's Misery) on her.....

Garret ,so much I can say but Ìýhe's what I like to call a 'gentle dominant' Ìýand he has me weak at the knees and in little puddles !

Laurel , sweet and innocent . Haunted by an event that changed her life and plagues her sleep with nightmares .

Laurel is about to graduate and majored in bio engineering. Her senior project catches the attention of one of the benefactors that actually offer her a job! While she's finishing the project she notices a very delicious speciMAN Ìýwatching her causing her heart to flutter and confusion to set in because she considers herself to be a plain jane science geek.

At her interview Laurel discovers that her adonis Ìýis the head hunter for the benefactor aka Garret !

Garret is attracted to Laurel and he makes his intentions known from the get go ! Laurel is nervous due to her rape by someone she knew :'( Ìý

Garret is so patient and tender with her but he still maintains his 'gentle dominant' attitude *swoon* He only has her interests at heart ,he wants to provide for her ,protect her

Learning to Trust is a beautiful story of creating special memories to replace scars and frightening memories ,its about taking something ugly and turning into a work of art

The title is so apt because this is exactly what this story is Ìýabout , learning to trust !

What I really appreciated about this story is the awareness that is created about diabetes and the research being done on helping those with prosthesis.

Garret and Laurel have a beautiful story and I'm so glad that I could share in .

A definite must read!

Learning to Trust by Cynthia O'neil

When I first started reading the book I thought of FSOG with the domineering alpha males and the young intern, I found myself drawn to the characters and their story. I enjoyed reading about both of their struggles with learning to trust themselves and each other.

Laurel Hart, battling emotional demons and health issues, wants nothing more than to finish her finals, her senior project, graduate from MIT and move as far away from this place as possible. Working in the lab, she feels someone staring. She looks up to find the most gorgeous man with stunning green eyes watching her. Not sure what to do with these new feelings, she puts her head down and moves on with her day.

Garrett Andrews, HR representative for the innovative medical equipment, is looking for someone to fill an intern spot when he sees the most intriguing, smart and beautiful Laurel Hart finishing her senior project. Intrigued by the need to get to know her on a deeper level, he offers her a job.

Excited to leave her past behind and move to Orlando, Laurel feels drawn to him on a new level she is not used too, but he seems to be hiding something and keeping her at a distance emotionally. Will he tell her his secrets like she has hers or will he push her away like he has so many others? Can the learn to trust each other?

Learning to Trust by Cynthia P. O'Neill

This book was provided from the author in exchange for honest literary review.

Laurel is just graduating from MIT with honors when her whole world is turned upside down. A new job offer and a sexy Garret Andrews have her reeling, but in a good way. Garrett is hell bent on showing her that love and relationships don't hurt you, but make life better. That is if Laurel can escape the demon from her past and put it behind her.
Garrett is pulled to Laurel like no other woman he has ever known. She is smart, sexy, and fits him perfectly. Everything should be perfect, but its not. Garrett has his own demons from the past. If he can't learn to let Laurel in he will lose her forever. In fact, he may never get the chance to tell her.
This book oozes sexy. The romance is sleek and sensual without being trashy. I could feel the heat between the characters while I was reading. I love the mix of medicine blended into this story. I have to say much of it waas accurate as well.
I think Garrett is one sexy hunk of man. It's the mystery about him that is driving me nuts. I want to know all of his story like now. He beats the Heck out of Christian Grey hands down.
This is one of those that once you pick it up, you just can't put it down. I was floored at the ending. I hope there isn't too long of a wait before the next one comes, so I can see how the story ends I think the author has a winner with this one, its a sort of new adult/erotomance if u will.
A definite must read for any mature romance lover over the age of 18. I can't wait to see what this book has in store for book two because the first one has it all

Learning to Trust is a love story and it has some sweet parts but holy hell this one is HOT! I loved this story so much. The characters are intense but you just fall in love with them. Just when I thought I had it figured out it would twist and change and that just made me love it more. Did I mention the sexy, melt my panties, hot as hell, Garrett Andrews. Laurel may seem a little weak at first but she is anything but weak. She is smart, sweet, and strong. She is caring and loyal and tries to deal with things on her own without any help. Can't wait for more in this series and see what Cynthia has in store for all the characters and she builds on them and lets us get to know them all better. Great job Cynthia!

OMG! OMG! OMG! I thought Christian Grey was intense, but this Garrett Andrews, WOW, he takes the cake! He is similar in some instances to Christian, but not in the scene department. The sexual scenes are super hot, but in a non-trashy way, which I appreciate. You can feel the desire and love pouring off the pages between the characters. I love how the author has Laurel, a very tortured soul, go from naive and unsure of things, to being in touch with her feminine side and discovering she's a little minx in the process. She seems so weak at the first part of the book, but I think by the end, she could kick some serious butt if she wanted to. The only thing I didn't like about the book is that it ended way too early. I'm left wanting more. I hope it isn't too long before the next one is released, because I need to know what happens next. I'm hoping some of the unknown about Garrett and Chase's characters will be answered. I've been searching for something Fifty Shades-ish to read and nothing has appealed to me. Kudos to this author, I not only love it, but I think I like it better than 50 Shades!

Arc review.

All I have to say is wow. What a great book. It has a story, it has a plot and well it has sex. What more can you ask for. I like that it is written in laurel POV, and that she has a story to tell. She is a strong independent woman, and she has a head on her shoulders. And omg Garrett, he is my new book boyfriend. He's damaged, but goes after what he wants. I truly enjoyed the storyline and can't wait to read the next installment. This book should be on everyone's tbr list. I do want to mention the secondary characters are phenomenal also. The help the book in many ways.

Laurel is just graduating and Garrett is a recruiter for his job. He becomes smitten and at all with her intelligence and offers her a job in Florida. Laurel decides to go because she's running from a pat and she believes she can start new. Garrett has secrets too and it makes this a rollercoaster. The story is intense and should be read. I'm not one to give much out because I think if it is a worthwhile book, then not too many details need to be told. But just let me say that the cliffhanger is good.

Read this book. It is definitely one that I would read again without a doubt.

Wow...that was hot!!!! I've read books like Fifty Shades and The Crossfire Series and have been disappointed that I've been unable to find any that come close to that, but this not only met those, but surpassed them! Garrett Andrews is described as one smokin' hot alpha male and he already has me under his spell as one of my favorite book boyfriends. Laurel is amazing, too. I like that she starts to get in touch with her feminine wiles and becomes a stronger person throughout the course of the book. I have to state, I'm not a fan of the ending, because it left me wanting more and needing to know how this series plays out. Please tell me the next book will be out soon!! I need to know, like NOW!!!

This is sort of an awkward book, with minor grammatical and editing issues. Many reviews referred to FSOG, but while there's a lot of controlling behavior, I'm not sure I'd characterize this as BDSM. The believability factor is pretty low, the pacing is all wrong and little uncomfortable. I'm a big fan of bossy, controlling alpha men, but the lead male character verged on being a little creepy, especially considering the lead female character was fighting off a stalker ex-boyfriend. On the plus side, the female characters are smart and accomplished, although too naïve and trusting to be realistic. The book ends with what should be a big cliffhanger. I'm not sure if I'll be motivated enough to read the next one.

There's no other words to describe other than AMAZING!!! I read some of the negative reviews and was reluctant to read this one, but I don't understand what all the complaints are about. This is a fictional book, it doesn't have to reflect real life. That's why I like to read these books, to escape reality and go to a world where anything is possible and the male can either be sweet or overly dominant, depending on my mood. I totally agree that this book is the next "Fifty Shades"! I love Garrett and can't wait to see what else is in store for the characters. My only complaint is that it ended too soon! 4.5 stars in my book!

This was a steamy read. I had a hard time putting it down. I love Laurel. She is a great character with lots of Depth. The romance was great. I was so caught up in this story.

Garrett was a little too controlling but the story worked. the sexy romance combined with the hear felt drama made for an irresistible read. If you love 50 shades then you will be hooked here too. But don't get me wrong this is no 50 shades.

It is a great read with great characters. A well written book that I definitely recommend. The ending leaves you hanging though and begging for more!!! I am looking forward to seeing what comes next!

I purchased this after a re-release of the series event. As I started reading I quit worrying about event because I was so caught up in the story. I loved the way that the main male character had to gain her trust, but was the first one to betray that trust. Deep down she really trusts him because in a moment of life or death she turns to him. This book was wonderful for beginners in the bedroom and was working up to more when the book ended. Now I have to have the next one to read this weekend. Great job on the suspense and amazing story line.

Cliffhanger... Argh! It has a freaking Cliffhanger ending. This book has a beginning and a middle but not a flipping ending. It ends right in the middle of the most interesting part of the book. I really, really despise when books do that! Additionally, I think this book went over board on the hero. I think she was going for alpha/possessive (like Christian Gray), but it comes off as a bit freaky and unnatural... There was much eye rolling in the course of reading this book.
