From career womanto camp fire girl? As regional chief of employment and training, Sue Ellen Carson gets to sit in a comfortable, air-conditioned office and make funding decisions - she just doesn't do fieldwork. But this time her boss insists that she evaluate a program first-hand - three weeks of survival training with at-risk teens in the Florida wilderness. Entering the rough-and-tumble world of camp founder USAF Chief Master Sergeant Joe Goodwin isn't her idea of fun - especially once she gets the hang of the rules: 1. Never wear perfume. Bugs - stinging, biting bugs - love designer fragrance. 2. Never pretend to be up on the latest street lingo. Acting too cool for school around troubled teens can have disastrous consequences. 3. Never, ever get too close to Sergeant Goodwin. Because resisting this man's animal magnetism is such risky business, even a seasoned exec like Sue Ellen can't pull it off.
After a 23-year AF career, Colonel Merline Lovelace launched a second career as a writer, basing many of her tales on her own experiences in uniform and on her travels all around the globe.
The USA Today best-selling author now has more than 11 million copies of her books in print. Her works have won numerous awards, including the Romance Writers of America's prestigious RITA. Merline is especially proud to have been named the University of Oklahoma's Writer of the Year and the Oklahoma Female Veteran of the Year.
Reread--loved this one, too. Sue Ellen's been divorced twice and isn't looking for another husband. She's got a great thing going with one of the younger military guys she met through Andi, and she's quite content with it. When her job requires she take part in a back-to-nature/back-to-basics/bonding camp headed up by Joe Goodwin, that's the last thing she wants to do. Her polished life is just how she likes it--not this pared-down-to-your-backpack camping thing!
On the other hand, Joe's fascinated her in a way she didn't expect from such a buttoned down military man.
It was great fun seeing these two get to know and respect each other, and to see glimpses of characters we met in Ex Marks the Spot. Very enjoyable read.
