Gifted hacker and vampire resistance leader Rowan Finley has lived her entire life caught between two worlds, divided by the dual bloodlines that flow through her veins. Her vampire family exploited her as a child for her rare varewolf blood. Now she may be the only person the werewolves, united with her brother Vlad’s rebel vampire faction, trusts to send in as a spy to gain intelligence on the movements of the Vampire Nation at a time when a dangerous rogue operative threatens to destabilize the werewolf military. But allying with shapeshifters will require betraying her mother Zara, leader of the Vampire Nation.
Software engineer August Caldwell has been tasked by the Blood Moon pack with dual missions. He has to locate Matteo Rossi, an unstable neural manipulator and projectionist before he can cause irreparable harm to the werewolf pack structure. Even more daunting, he must find Guillermo Montemayor, leader of the North American werewolves, who has gone missing. Rowan Finley is a complication. She can’t know he still bears her claiming mark from a mission where she bound him to her temporarily in order to save his life. In order to keep her safe, he’ll have to conceal his feelings for her, as well as the true reason he walked away.
As a chilling communication throws the werewolf community into revolt, August and Rowan must race against the clock to stop a madman intent on destroying the Vampire Nation and countless innocents, while holding werewolves across the nation hostage.
ECLIPSE is part of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series. Sizzling hot romance. Guaranteed HEA.
Author Kat Kinney lives with her family and three extremely pampered guinea pigs who do not like werewolves, vampires, or dragons and wonder why their human insists on writing about things that like to eat them. When she isn’t writing about things that bite and howl, Kat can be found knitting crazy socks and plotting out future books!
This is book 6 in this shifter Romance series and I think it is one of the better ones in the series. I really enjoyed it and I also think that this series is best read in order. One might be able to follow the story more or less, but it would be easier if the series is read in order. As usual there is some spice, but I don’t think it is as smutty as some. 😂 😂 for me it cannot be too smutty, so I am just trying to let you all know what to expect. I was born and lived in a small town, so I know about that part, but I don’t know much about Texas, but I still could follow most of it. 😂
Any time I find myself homesick for the Texas Hill country, this is my go to series. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this volume all year, and it most certainly did not disappoint. The romance and action were wonderful, as always, but the author’s talent for describing scenery and cuisine are unparalleled. In spite of, or perhaps because of, the fantastical elements and larger than life characters, these books truly bring the area to life in my memory. I’ll be awaiting the next, and final, Book, although I’ll be very sad to see the series come to an end.
Officially my new favorite in the Texas Shifters series! adored August & Rowan (and Willow!), and their relationship was so heart wrenching that you couldn’t help but root for them. Add to that an absolutely gripping plot with Rossi playing god and messing with our heroes and their loved ones at every turn, and I was HOOKED. If you haven’t started this spicy, PNR series yet, I highly recommend that you rectify it at once. All the stars!
This is the sixth book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series, and it's a suspenseful and engrossing addition to the series! I was eager to find out what was going to happen after some revelations in the last book, especially in relation to one specific character who I thought was one of the good ones. This story follows August and Rowan, ex-lovers, as they work together to figure out who is terrorizing the supernatural world.
August and Rowan have so much chemistry, and I was totally invested in their second-chance romance. The pair bonded during a particularly dangerous mission, and though they are still bonded, Rowan doesn't know it. It's a secret August is prepared to keep, but it becomes increasingly difficult the closer they get. I love how supportive Rowan is. She's a strong and caring person who never really gives up on August even after everything that's happened between them. And August is so sweet and protective - definite cinnamon roll material! His autoimmune disease and failing health add another layer to their story, and some of what he and they go through is gut-wrenching. Both are such compelling characters with heartbreaking pasts and traumatic presents, and both deserve some happiness in their future.
One of my favorite things about this whole series is the amazing strength of the Caldwell family. They are all amazing individuals, but together they are a force. Staunchly supportive and protective of each other, there's a lot of love in this family. The way they welcome people into their fold is lovely, and I feel like we really see this aspect of them in the book. We learn quite a bit more about Rowan's family, too, especially her brothers and mother. I found them all intriguing, and I really want to learn more about her brothers. I feel like they both have interesting stories to tell.
I would definitely recommend this book to readers who like paranormal romantic suspense. The story is suspenseful and filled with intrigue, dangerous missions, and social and political turmoil, and the characters and romance are fantastic. It's one of my faves in the entire series! Special thanks to Kat Kinney for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
‘For the love of all that’s fanged and holy, I confess that I’m totally addicted to the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series by Kat Kinney. It is my comfort read, and I can’t get enough of it. I’m sad that with the next instalment after ‘Eclipse, the Caldwell brothers saga will be over. Still, I’m looking forward to reading the finale of the series, which, I’m sure, will be truly epic.
Roman and August are so very similar but, at the same time, different. With them, you can’t say if it’s the case when opposites attract or if their sameness pulls them towards each other. Both are gifted in computer technologies. Both are kind of black sheep although for completely different reasons in their families. Both are tormented by the hardships life has been putting them through since their childhoods. It may seem that their falling in love meant that the higher justice stepped into the picture. Alas, August broke the bond, even knowing that in the shapeshifter world, it binds werewolves for life. Yet, his love for Rowan proved to be stronger than the ancient rules. Believing that by doing the unthinkable he is saving the woman he loves, he makes the decision for both of them. Can Rowan forgive him if the truth comes to light?
“Eclipse, book six of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series by Kat Kinney is more than a paranormal romance (be prepared for sizzling hot scenes!). It is full of political intrigue, clashes for power between humans, shapeshifters, and vampires, and action.
One of my favourite parts of Kat Kinney’s books is how mouthwateringly she describes food. As someone who doesn’t deny that delicious food is one of the greatest pleasures in life, I appreciate the author not skipping the description of Texas-style barbeque with more than grilled ribs on offer.
As I mentioned earlier in this review, I’ll be sad to say goodbye to the Caldwell brothers when next year the final book of the series ‘Taken lands on my Kindle yes, I’ve already pre-ordered it and I won’t be able to stop myself from devouring it in two or three sittings.
I enjoyed this shifter/vamp tale and could totally relate to the FMC Rowan as I am a computer geek myself. Rowan is a vamp/wolf hybrid and has been exploited for her blood since childhood by her domineering mother. MMC August is a werewolf with a rare wasting autoimmune disease battling for his life. He has pushed away his fated mate without explanation but must work with her to save both their races.
Kat Kinney spins this dilemma into an engrossing story that I couldn't put down. The villain is a megalomaniac willing to sell everyone out for power. The race against the clock to both foil his plot and find a cure for August is well written and suspenseful. The family dynamics of both groups and the growth the characters experience as they seek to overcome childhood traumas and have their choice of mates accepted is believable and uplifting. I was sad to see the story end.
I read this as a standalone romance even though there are 5 prior books in the series. Usually I read in order but I didn't see that it was book 6. Kat Kinney did an admirable job of inserting just enough references to the backstories so I could understand what was going on without feeling like she put in an "our story thus far" dialogue dump. I will definitely read the other books in the series as my curiosity has been piqued with the glimpses of their backstories.
I recommend this to adult readers who love vamp/werewolf politics and sexy times between fated mates. There is a little too much spice for YA readers, IMHO.

Makes you stay up late for "just one more chapter"
I've been looking forward to Rowan and August's story since the characters were first introduced (they might be my favorite, with River and Ellie or West and Topher being a close second)!
Love the descriptions of things like the vampire's jumps! And the setting, Kat Kinney really paints the scene and makes the town and the fantastical elements feel real!
The way Kat Kinney explores complexity of relationships in the Blood Moon Texas Shifters Series is always appreciated. Especially love this look into the vampire world and more about Rowan's family. Kat Kinney really captures well just how much emotional, mental, and medical abuse can mess with someone's head.
I really appreciated the chronic illness rep in this with August's character, too. It's something that stuck out for me since book 1 and I was excited to read from his perspective in this book!
Also the way this book covers topics including pregnancy after miscarriage.
While HEA are guaranteed by the end of each book, I appreciate the way Kinney keeps a couple's story going throughout the series, including after their initial book and the realities of an ongoing relationship after the final page. Plus, it guarantees more of the couples we've grown to love!
Other aspects I really enjoyed about this book: The references (the entire series has really great references) Huge fan of Vlad Rowan's voice and humor Tails vs Fangs baseball Unexpected twists Masterful tension within exciting action that makes you stay up late for "just one more chapter."
Eclipse is the sixth installment in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifter series. Eclipse follows the journey of Rowan and August. Eclipse is a fantastic paranormal romance story which is both suspenseful and a definite page-turner. I couldn’t get enough of Rowan and August’s amazing love story which I found to be quite entertaining and enjoyable to read. Rowan is a gifted hacker and vampire resistance leader who has lived her life caught between two worlds, divided by the dual bloodlines that flow through Rowan’s veins. Her vampire family exploited her as a child for her rare varewolf blood. August is a software engineer who has been tasked by the Blood Moon Pack with dual missions. He has to located Matteo Rossi, an unstable neural manipulator and projectionist before he can cause irreparable harm to the werewolf pack structure. Now this is all the details that I’m going to reveal about Eclipse because I don’t want to complete ruin the book for future readers. However, I would HIGHLY recommend Eclipse to anyone who enjoys reading paranormal romance stories. Eclipse is beautifully written, well-balanced, and perfectly executed by Author Kat Kinney, whom I think creates fabulously entertaining and enjoyable paranormal romance stories. Eclipse is the first book that I read by Author Kat Kinney, and she did NOT disappoint me in anyway whatsoever. I’m looking forward to seeing what this author will come up with for her next book.

Rowan Finley is part vampire/part werewolf, and an important leader of the resistance. Her unique blood has put her in some uncomfortable situations, as even her mother had forced her to be a blood slave in her childhood. But being part vampire and werewolf does give her more credibility with both groups to act on their behalf in dangerous missions intended to keep everyone safe from the enemies both sides now face. August Caldwell, a software engineer suffering with an autoimmune disorder, has his own assigned missions in finding his missing uncle, Guillermo Montemayor, leader of the North American werewolves, and in locating Matteo Rossi whose activities endanger the entire werewolf pack structure. Although Rowan was August’s fated mate, he had pushed her away so she would not have to watch him slowly dying of his autoimmune condition. But he still loves her and will do his best to keep her safe. And he will have to join her again as they work to protect the werewolves and vampires from a crazed villain who has his own plans against them. With so much turmoil around them, will they be able to succeed in their crucial mission? And will they finally try for some kind of a future together?
This is the sixth book in a great series by Kat Kinney, a lovely dark wolf shifter / vampire romance. It's full of action, drama, traumas, secrets, health issues, political troubles, great chemistry between the MMCs, passion and love, with a HEA.
Rowan is a vampire/shifter hybrid and had been used by her mother as a blood donor since childhood. When she'd first met werewolf August she'd wanted to save him and started a bond between them which he'd completed, but with a rare wasting autoimmune disease he's fighting against, he'd pushed her away a few months later.
They're now working together in a race against the clock to save both vampires, werewolves and hybrids from someone trying to kill them all. But the more time they spend together, the harder it is to deny the bond that is still there between them. Can Rowan persuade August to let her back into his life and can she do anything to help him with his condition?
I love how supportive and protective the Caldwell family are of each other. They're all great individuals with different personalities and talents but put them together and they're a force to be reckoned with.
I received an advance review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In this 6th book of the "Blood Moon, Texas Shifters" series, the story follows August - one of the seven Caldwell brothers - and Rowan - the varewolf he has feelings for. The danger that’s been building in the previous books of the series continues to intensify, while at the same time August and Rowan face a battle that's much closer to home.
I'd love to list my favorite parts of the book, but honestly that would be the whole thing! I really enjoyed the various interactions between the characters and how they grow from past traumas. There are misunderstandings and tension, but also humor, the joys of family and found family, and the triumphs of overcoming fearsome obstacles, with the heat between August and Rowan adding some spice. I love how the author worked the real-world eclipse into the story, and I also loved the changeable relationship between August and Willow, the dog. The twists, and dangers and secrets swirling around the characters kept me reading to see what would happen. (And sometimes holding my breath!)
Overall, this is a wonderfully engaging read and fantastic continuation of the series! I look forward to the next book - and am a little sad that it'll finish the series.
This is the sixth book in the 'Blood Moon' series, and it is gripping!! There are characters that are included from previous books in the series, so it helps to have read them. Some turn out not to be who you thought they were in a previous story. Rowan is a vampire/werewolf hybrid, and her nasty vampire mother has been using her as her personal experimental blood bank. August is her werewolf mate who hasn't wanted to stay with her because he is battling an autoimmune disease. The Eclipse drug is the only one that is saving him, but the side effect is so damaging. He can no longer shift.
There are many factions and sides warring against one another, especially their own family members. There is quite a bit of drama and intrigue, as well as passion, dedication, and love.
The beginning was a bit challenging, as so many characters were introduced, most from previous stories in the series. It took a while to keep track of who was what. Once I got it, the book flowed beautifully and was very gripping.

One of Kat Kinney’s best and a standout in this series! This read has it all and it’s all phenomenal giving you a read that has the tears streaming, keeps you on the edge, and still manages to keep the laughs coming as the Caldwell’s take on the biggest threat they’ve faced, new alliances are formed, and August and Rowan absolutely shred your heart to pieces. It’s a fight for life in more ways than one, destroying yourself in the name of love, and clinging to hope when it feels like there is none and it is outstanding! This read is so consuming. It’s tangled webs, family fights, betrayals, no one is safe, no one can be fully trusted, and in the middle of it all is August and Rowan, a werewolf and a varewolf who have a lot of history. And they just burrow right into your heart as they work together for a better future for vampires and werewolves and navigate what August’s future might mean for them. It’s so touching, August just gets you sobbing, Rowan is so strong, and I loved the support they’re families gave them. It’s just an amazing read and I would recommend it again and again.
"Eclipse" by Kat Kinney is the sixth installment in the captivating "Blood Moon, Texas Shifters" series. Ms. Kinney seamlessly immerses readers once again into her richly crafted paranormal world, where shapeshifters and humans coexist amidst tension and secrecy. The story primarily revolves around two compelling characters, Rowan and August, who, while strikingly similar in their struggles, also embody distinct differences that shape their journeys. Both have endured significant hardships that have moulded their perspectives and lifestyles. As their paths intertwine, August seeks a remedy for his condition, while Rowan battles her own demons along with the responsibilities that accompany her heritage. "Eclipse" takes readers on an emotional journey, exploring the challenges of overcoming personal barriers. The connection between Rowan and August deepens as they learn to rely on each other, making this book not only a thrilling adventure but also a heartfelt exploration of resilience and partnership in the face of overwhelming odds.
Looking forward to the next and final book in this series.
ECLIPSE is the sixth book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series and I recommend you read the previous stories, or you won't have the faintest idea what's going on.
August has suffered a lot in his life, suffering from a debilitating disease that is slowly killing him. Rowan has also suffered - in the past, it was at the hands of her mother. Presently, it's down to August and the decisions he made that affected both of them but without her input.
There is so much that goes on in this book. I felt as though Rowan and August's story almost got lost in the midst of it. Instead, you get more of an insight into the family relationships, the Big Bad arc, and August's sickness.
A good solid read that I was invested in, and recommended by me.

Eclipse (Blood Moon, Texas Shifter Book 6) by Kat Kinney
Eclipse is the penultimate book in the Blood Moon series (don’t get me started on how upset I am that this amazing series is nearly over). Book six follows the bond between August Caldwell and Rowan Finley. We’ve seen snippets of their history in other books, so I’ve been really excited to reach their story. I love them together, and I love the realness of their problems. Alongside a paranormal war, they have to fight against August’s health to be together. It’s a very real and raw portrayal of romance and an autoimmune disease.
Outside of their relationship, the series plot continues as the Caldwells fight to save their kind. I love how seamlessly the overarching plot flows into each of the books. Despite us joining a new couple each time, the stakes continue to grow. I loved getting to see old couples and their new families.
Eclipse is a fantastic sixth book in the series and it’s bittersweet as I await the final release.
So much action in this one. So much romance. It was heartbreaking then wildly fulfilling. I love how Kat Kinney interweaves her previous characters into this story. Where you see how the brothers are doing now. The women they love. And how secrets can tear them all apart.
August has an auto-immune disorder and its causing him to blackout. Taking the Eclipse drug is also making him unable to shift. Rowan still loves him even though he broke up with her. He didn't want her to see him this way. Their bond is still too strong to overcome the break-up.
Rowan is an incredible character. She's Vamp and Werewolf. WOW! Mighty combo. And she's been hurt too much over the years. Her mother, her brother and now August.
I love that this takes place during the Solar Eclipse we just had. It makes this a part of the real world. And also what would happen to a werewolf during the eclipse? Read this book and you will find out!
Another wonderful addition to this incredible series!!
Eclipse by Kat Kinney is book 6 in the Blood Moon Texas Shifters series. It is a paranormal mystery with some romance novel. I have been following this series since book 1 and have been intrigued by each book. Definitely curious by the end to find out what happens next. There is enough romance and action in these books to keep me interested. The characters are well developed and continue to grow and reappear in each novel. I world building is well done and interesting as well.
August and Rowan have always had loads of chemistry. They have been a couple before and it’s obvious the interest is still there. They both have been through so much and if you are a reader if the series you can not help but to cheer for this to work out especially as they grow closer. This book also contains action, dangerous missions, politics, and much more.
I definitely recommend this book. Definitely reading more from this author.
“Eclipse by Kat Kinney, is Book 6 of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series, and like the others, this book is a captivating blend of fantasy, spicy romance, and thriller! This story focuses on Rowan, who is ½ vampire, ½ werewolf and has been exploited for her rare blood, and August Caldwell, a werewolf suffering from an autoimmune disease that may be slowly killing him. Rowan and August are fated mates, but August broke up with Rowan to save her from the ordeal of having her mate die. Meanwhile, both of them have been miserable, so August realizes he made a mistake. But will Rowan forgive him? There is a ton of intrigue in this story involving, among other things, a shortage of much-needed drug (Eclipse) which cures feral wolf madness and might possibly be of help to August, and the Caldwells missing uncle, who is the leader of North American werewolves. Like all of Kinney’s books, Eclipse is wonderfully written and packed with twists and turns from beginning to end!
Where to start with my thoughts on this. It’s easy to fall in love with Rowan and August. Rowan is relatable and passionate, I adore her steadfast character even through heartbreak. August is a fighter. He’s not the alpha, but he’s determined to survive and to do his part. Willow and the guppies complete this pair. What I love also about this story is how each one only evolves the whole Caldwell family story. London and Rowan’s friendship is incredible. The bond between Ethan and August. Rivers rise to his new position. There is so much familial love that shifts and turns as they all respond to events that occur. In that love there is also so much healing. The timing with the eclipse! It brought me back to that day. I love how Kinney’s writing makes me connect to my current hometown in a way that feels tangible. I’m not sure I’m ready for this series to be over, but I’ll be counting down the days for the next book!
August said the best way to live your life is Carpe Diem - embrace each day and live in the present, because tomorrow might never come. But in truth, he longed for the happiness of little things and the promise of tomorrow. He wants to live in spring, when the cubs and puppies are born and all nature comes to life, he wants to have lazy evenings in front of the TV and happy weekends with family, to outlive late August and enjoy Christmas.
This book is very well written, I could feel all the love, the angst, the fear, the pain, the hope, the despair and the joy, it really impressed upon me the importance of being the best version of yourself while living each day as if it is the last. I can't wait to read the last book in the series!
I received an advance review copy for free via BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Fabulous! I’ve been waiting for August’s story since the beginning of Kat Kinney’s brilliant Blood Moon series. So good to have an MMC who will sacrifice everything for his family, friends and people, despite coping bravely with his own nightmare health problems. So great to pair him with an FMC who cares enough to forgive his mistakes and work with him, despite her own mental health issues arising from all that has happened in her past. Rowan and August are perfect together, but their path is overshadowed at all times by horrendous danger and the ever-present threat of death. I LOVE this series, with its unique mix of love, humour, and angst as the werewolf, vampire and varewolf characters face terrifying odds to survive. Can't believe the next book will be the last in the series! Good job that I love to re-read them all!
If you're a reader of the Blood Moon series you've been wondering what the heck happened to Rowan and August's romance gone bad. They'd seemed perfect for each other. What drove them apart?
No, I'm not going to spoil the book by telling you. I will say that Kat Kinney manages to write a believable - and heartbreaking - reason. She also moves the wolves vs. vamps vs. human politics plot along and tees up the romance for book seven.
Once I opened it up I could not put it down. If you give it a chance I'm sure you'll feel the same way. The beauty of the Blood Moon series is that if you took all the supernatural elements out of them these novels would still be compelling family dramas. You can't fail with a solid base to your stories.
Great new addition to the Blood Moon , Texas Shifters series ! Rowan and August have been through hades before and are having to deal with it all again trying to find out who is trying to takeover the supernatural community or destroy what they can’t have. It’s a look into the dynamics of both pack and family and how to deal with both when they are at odds. You see several characters from the previous books in the series and several questions get answered. It’s full of heat and action. I do recommend reading the previous books in the series to truly understand and appreciate what’s going on. 4✨’s and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is one of my absolute favorite series, and Eclipse did not disappoint! August and Rowan's chemistry is so HOT, I thought my tablet might burst into flames at points (this is a good thing, people! I love my spice! Haha). I also love the whole hacker vibe. I'm a sucker for a hacker romance and these two went after my geek-lovin' heart. It was also nice to read a second chance romance in a world filled with so many enemies-to-lovers stories. Don't get me wrong--I love enemiest-to-lovers too! But sometimes you just need a second chance romance and the opportunity to see how the characters figure out their HEA. This one was perfectly done and I thoroughly enjoined it. If you haven't read this series yet, what are you doing with your life? Ha! Dive in now. It's fantastic!
Once, I would have said I am not a fan of shifter books, but that all changed when I began reading Kat Kinney. Her books, her worlds, and her characters are nothing short of spectacular.
August and Rowan's story hits home with August's autoimmune struggles and Rowan's childhood trauma. As the previous books in this series, the pack still faces a dangerous villain and a seemingly insurmountable mission to build relationships between shifters and vampires.
The blending of heart, real-life worries and triumphs, and family, along with the growing trouble, is seamless.
A really good shifter romance. August is a werewolf who has had an autoimmune disease all his life. Rowan is a vampire who had a bad upbringing as a blood slave due to her father being a werewolf and her mother the head of the vampires. Their love is tested when August's uncle and cousin attempt a coup during a total eclipse. There is action, romance, Willow the dog and everything comes together to become a must-read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who do you love when you are part vampire and werewolf, but you did not know this? Well Rowan did not know she could shift, but when she meets August her whole world is turned upside down. But August has an autoimmune disorder that has him having seizures. They are mates but August has been having more and has decided that Rowan needs to find another. But when the Vampires and Shifters are going to start WWW3 things begin to happen. But happens to August and Rowan?.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Why is it that guys think they always know how best to resolve a situation? August's shutting down of the mating link did nothing to really stop the feelings or the attachment. It only made those sensations more intense. Rowan's ability to understand and forgive was tested by their circumstances, the challenges they faced, and the heart wanting more than what the head was ready for. This is book 6 in the series and while it is readable as a stand-alone, I would recommend reading the first 5 in the series.
August is a busy wolf shifting and coder, who is nursing a broken heart. His illness makes getting close to anyone risky. But Rowan Finley isnt just anyone. She a varwolf, and the daughter of the commandment of the vampire nation. The wolves and the vampires need to work together to stop Matteo Rossi, a dangerous neural manipulator. And August needs a cure to make him better.
Its a wild ride but this one really tugs at your heart strings. August and Rowan are super cute together.
