The A name given to an event that, five years ago, changed the world forever. In a single day, humanity discovered that not only were they not alone, but they were not exactly at the top of the food chain.
Living in the shadows for millennia, supernaturals now had no choice but to finally come into the light. Because of the fury of a mad god, humans and supernaturals now had to learn to coexist side by side for the first time in living memory. With the revelation that magic was not only real but far more common than fairy tales led them to believe, a new society had to be born.
Years after that fateful day, Mythos University stands as the pioneer in a new form of magical education, welcoming the world's best young magic users into its ranks. Humans, werewolves, gnomes? At Mythos, everyone is accepted and treated as equals. A true example of the new society that is emerging.
Leo, one of these young people and one of the most powerful supernaturals of his generation, is starting at Mythos as a freshman. Finally stepping out from under his parents' wings, Leo just wants to live like a normal college learn magic, train in magical combat, make friends, and maybe even get a girlfriend.
But is the 18-year-old dragon, and something more, ready for all the challenges he will face on his journey? Will he be able to keep his secrets at least until the end of the semester, or was his hope of remaining anonymous, just another student among thousands, doomed to fail from the beginning?
No one said that being a freshman at the best magic academy in the world was simple and easy, but Leo is always ready for a good challenge.
Very awkward and cringey. The story and characters make no sense and it is highly annoying. How can a dragon god be such a little bitch? The book is basically about the MC being cock-teased, humiliated and having to jerk off and all the women having sex with each other. I mistakenly thought this was supposed to be harem genre.
Quit after the first fifth. The whole thing was just non stop sexual nonsense. No character depth, a very generic university setting and a basic cast of mystical creatures. At some point I just kept expecting some story, I never got any.
Started off interesting in the first chapter, but DNF’d with the silly unnatural reactions even for non-humans. The following couple chapters of ridiculousness and over abundance of introspection that could’ve been shown instead of told, and all without even a scene change lost me. Didn’t make it past chapter 4.
Virtually no conflict in the book, no problems for him to solve except for trivial ones manufactured by his own insecurities. Insecurities which made no sense as he was completely overpowered. The MC is uber rich, vastly more powerful than anyone else, and has every woman that comes in contact with him panting for him. He is even assigned a coed roommate. Why are we wanting to read about a guy who has it all and doesn't need to work to succeed?
Got about 33% through the book, and I could not find any plot. It's just a series of girls the MC drools over. No harem, no real plot of any sort. Book had a couple chuckles, but otherwise the reading was fairly bland.
I was interested enough from the audiobook sample to give it a try, but it's mostly boring. It was an extreme and elaborate by play of every sexual fantasy that a truly mentally sick person might have without going so far as to commit crimes or initially have heterosexual intercourse. The narration was good, and the story had some real potential, but so much time was wasted just setting up the crappy porn fantasy that one could tell the focus of the story was not going to be anything interesting. Part of the reason I even bother to give a review on this is that I never would have gotten this book if it had been advertised properly. Nothing in its description suggested writing this bad or of this specific niche. Those responsible for the summary deserve a bad rating. I am posting this review in more than one location.
I gave the series a decent go of it, but struggled to find the effort to finish the third book. The concept is fine, and there are some fun characters, but the delivery/writing is just sub-par and makes for a boring read.
Not my thing - DNF. Should have had more of a warning about it. Not trying to be a prude here, and don't mind sex scenes when they're in the context of a relationship. But having the second scene about a new college student walking into a tryst in his bedroom, then he rolls his eyes and essentially ignores it - seems unrealistic on both counts. Aside from that the writing wasn't bad, just that it wasn't telling a story I wanted to hear about.
Where do I start? The fantastic romance between Leo and Alice?
Actually yeah let's start with that. It's amazing. I honestly found myself tearing up a couple times when Alice and Leo were being vulnerable with one another. It was just true romance in every sense of the word. I want to say more but honestly just read and find out.
Something the book does which I've never seen before is that the narration weaves between the perspectives and thoughts of the characters in the present scene. For example we'll get a couple paragraphs of Leo's thoughts and reactions followed by Alice's or another characters. It could be a small moment like where for just a paragraph we get a glimpse into the thoughts of the one of the teachers when something is happening. I personally love this decision by the author. I'm a big proponent of getting the POV of the harem members in haremlit and the fact this book does it in every chapter while still maintaining Leo as the primary POV, is just a dream come true for me tbh.
I really cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate the effort the author went into giving us all the other POVs and mixing them into the narrative with Leos. Honestly it felt more like Leo's AND Alice's story then just Leo's which I just love. It does make me wonder how that'll change up as Leo gets more intimate with other girls doing forward but fortunately I just consume the quality writing.
That all being said, it isn't perfect. There's a few grammatical and spelling errors but nothing crazy and it by no means ruined the experience. Just noticed a few mistakes that's all. Now there is something to be said about the tense(?) Of the story. At times the wording used is in the past tense and then the present tense. It gets a wee bit disorienting a couple times but again nothing major.
If you're a fan of the haremlit genre I strongly recommend this book. The spice is nice. The romance between Leo and Alice is fantastic. If you enjoy academy type stories this is up you're alley. Fan of dragons? This is for you. "Monster" girls? Yup. Girl on girl action? Also yup.
Rightio so there’s a fair bit I want to cover in this but seeing as it’s 2;:30am and I’m very tired , I’ll keep it relatively brief. Lol
One thing I’ll say first up though: some things were great, some were okay, some were not great, however nothing was terrible and made me not finish. For a first published book, it’s not going to be a masterpiece and there will be some detractions, of which you can tell. However on the other side of that, the book is interesting and honestly fairly well written when looking at the general quality of first books. So on to some feedback.
The good: Decent general world building so far, room for improvement ofc but decent. Magic system is also well rounded with just enough detail to be interesting but not kill you with details. The writing quality and flow is actually very good for a first go. I.e it doesn’t feel like I’m reading something from an illiterate 13yr old. This is a solid achievement bc some can be truly awful.(More on some mistakes etc below) Characters are interesting and fairly well done. The actual concept of dragon goes to UNI is pretty good and I’m loving it.
The less good/improvable: The writing- the biggest issue so far is the switching of writing style from 3rd to first person. That reallllllyyyyy needs to be corrected. There’s also the grammatical mistakes with swapped words, mixing of names and spelling etc, however this is pretty standard for new entries and self published books and can be generally overlooked. Still, getting some volunteers from the community to help suggest edits/ corrections is a good idea until/unless you can get a professional.
The plot- has left me confused a little tbh. I get that its dragon goes to uni, but I’m confused as to what the overarching plot is, and where it might end. Are we following the literal uni/magic progress? Or something else? Is it more following the relationships? Or is it to do with the last bit with the rescue? A little clarity on that would be nice. Tbf it’s the first book in the series so we’ll see with the next but something to keep in mind.
The relationships- they were generally pretty good actually, however there were a few things, one that is very common is trying to build up a relationship deeply, but way too quickly with emotion/information overload. This happened a bit with the girls and Leo where, as much as it might be a pain in the butt for the story, taking your time will pay better dividends with the development. When overloaded there’s not as much connection to the characters, which then results in blank personalities followed by people losing interest. It wasn’t too bad by any means, this is more something that if you improve on, will just generally help your writing and then also people connecting and getting invested in the characters.
I’m hitting the wall rn so I’m gonna wrap up with: it was pretty fair dinkum good for a first entry, but as with everything there’s room for betterness ;) I’d recommend and look forward to the next one.
Pretty good read but alice needs to get it together and stop playing with the mc it's kind of messed up the way she keeps playing with him and cock blocking him if she's not going to be with him all the way. So far he's only getting teased and has to relieve 😌 himself alot in embarrassing ways all because of Alice's hang up's 5 hours later still nothing. It's supposed to be a harem book but so far it's no harem not even sex yet it's kinda boring just about them going to school 😴 I love harem books but this on seems like a romance from a female perspective so it's way to emotional way more than I would care for I'm not really a fan of smooshy woo woo cringe love books. And the poor mc has to wade through all the woo woo all while being teased and sexually frustrated 😠😡 👿 while the women play with his emotions and they play with each other not him all while Alice takes her time figuring out if she wants to be with him ohhh the unnecessary drama all while Alice never really explained what her hang up is with men... skipped through a bit then dnf. I tried 😪
reads a lot like early haremlit/webnovel. So you need to be willing to strap in and at least finish book one due to the unconventional story layout. If you've read a lot of early haremlit/webnovels you know the kind of experiential/amateurism story structure we had to deal with, if your a fan of dragon MC in this genre you should probably read this, the author probably should have done more to illustrate there being a reason for the MC's reluctance for romance early on. If you like what has become typical in the genre lately with women throwing themselves at a harem seeking protagonist, you won't get that until book2. there's also not a lot of plot until book2, it's better to think of this in the 'arcs' that webnovels do, and not conventional novels layout. There is a twist at the end that makes the MC's decisions to not pursue relationships rational in the plot.
It's also very horny/kinky, so you need to also tolerate a lot of probably unnecessarily juvenile conversations about sex. They are presented as 'kids'(18) so maybe it's intentional.
And I'm not talking about the romance, though that too to a lesser extent. In the course of the book I believe somewhere around 2 weeks to a month have passed. Or something like that. There was a lot of fun slice of life and world building. I can't complain too much but it feels like things are moving too slowly for the overall pacing of the book. The relationships, romance, and even power growth (emphasis on growth) feel slower than the ramping tension, but I could be wrong.
Keep in mind as well that the romance is slightly less idealized than many works. It does still offer future cuddly soft potential though.
One thing that threw me off and left me somewhat disatisfied was the ending that left off with the main characters accepting ALL the blame for somwthing that was only partially their fault. Though no one held it against them very much YET, there was no acknowledgment that there was fault on BOTH sides.
A story with a mostly OP MC... so already of that isn't your thing you might want to pass on this one.
If that sort of thing doesn't bother you there were 2 other issues I had with it. It loses some points for needing an editor or at least beta readers to stamp out editing errors. The other issue I had was the whole... no true perspective. The perspective instantly shifts, within sentences even to convey instantly what anyone is thinking. It's annoying and I feel borders on lazy, like one can't write dialogue well enough to convey intent properly.
Otherwise it's got some interesting premises. I haven't finished but while the spice is a through line of the story it's a slow burn with teasing, so there's that going for it. Unless something terrible happens at the end of the book this feels about right for a rating
Thank you Alan Moria, I find books to be my great escape , my adventures through space , jungles or alien planets, I’ve long looked for a series that scratched an itch I’ve had but no one quite did it, yet you have in spades, you’ve mixed dragons , demons , and every in between including gods, plus mc is a literal baby god learning how to become one, you have made my long awaited wish come true so from the bottom of my heart thank you and I pray there will be many more in this series and beyond, I know this may all sound corney but books are my thing , I get lost in the stories and this is a story I’ve been looking for since forever!! Thanks for getting the kid in me to squeal omg a dragon god lmao!!
The plot of Mythos University, while entertaining, at times drags a bit. That, combined with annoying grammatical errors, makes for a frustrating read at times. Alan Moria would do well to get an English editor for future works as he keeps jumping between first, second, and third person perspectives in the story. At times it even sounds like a narration for a script or writers notes. Putting that aside, it is a good story line and I'm eager to see how it develops further.
Wow, an MC in this genre who is strong and confident, but also kind and doesn’t take the love interests for granted. There is proper relationship buildup and character development. The story is a fun and relaxing slice of life in a magical university but the story really is all about the wonderful characters. This sets a high standard for this genre. I hope the next book comes out soon!
Interesting harem story with different characters than normal.
I liked the college-aged theme, but the extremely distracting poor grammar was very off-putting. Although I enjoyed the two main characters and the dynamics of their relationship, as well as the support characters, I kept getting thrown off by the poor grammar. Do you sense a theme here? The story was good, but until I see that it has been re-editted, I won't continue in the series.
There are so many typos, spelling and tense errors, and other mistakes throughout the book. Furthermore, the story seems afraid to be original with the characters and lore. At times it feels like the author just used old myth gods because he was too scared to create his own world or he lacked the skill to be creative. There could have been a good story here but this current draft was probably written in a month or less. I'll not be continuing the series.
The story was engaging and interesting enough I finished the book rather than return it, but it wasa struggle the entire time due to the horrible need for an editor. Entire sentences were repeated, constant pronoun errors, and first/third person shifts mid paragraph made the book painful to read at times.
The story reminded of dragon justice but its own take on dragons, some parts of the story were great while other parts felt forced to push the story forward but overall the good made up for the any bad parts. I enjoyed the story and look forward to book 2.
It was so nice to spend time with these characters. They are funny, intelligent, and dedicated to each other. It was nice having the opportunity to read a book where there wasn't so much tension from having to save the world, etc. I am so looking forward to Book 2 and hope there will be many more. Excellent story and execution by the author!
The story is solid, the world interesting and lots of room to grow. Those parts are solid. The technical writing part needs work. Lots of awkward phrasing, mis-spelled words, extra or missing words. Nothing egregious enough to not be able to figure it out, but awkward and annoying. I will probably try book 2, so
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and engaging. It needs a better job of proof reading. There are constant shifts from past to present tense. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
I liked the characters and the world that was created for the story. Did need some more editing though. Found at least 4 spots that had the wrong character name when describing something. But good first book.
Wow what an amazing start to a series. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Loved Leo and Alice. His/their love interests are amazing to. I hope we get more goddesses as Leo's beloveds. Found his magic very interesting.
It was a good book but it needs a little bit of editing. The author mixed up character names, used wrong pronouns and added extra words to sentences. So definitely needs some editing.
This is an excellent story however multiple typos and tense changing between present and past making it obvious that they at least attempted to edit it but unfortunately there editing wasn’t good enough to push this into 5 stars
Going to be honest. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did. It’s not the best out there but I think this author is just getting started. Can’t wait to read more from Alan Moria!
