Rate this book
Tyler Rivers is a successful country music star with a young son. His one try at marriage was a disaster and he has become tired with the lack of privacy that being a celebrity brings. He makes the decision to move back to his roots and raise his son in the small town atmosphere that he grew up appreciating. In the back of his mind and deep in his heart, he still held on to the small town girl that had grown up as his best friend.
Shannon McKinley-Keystone returns to her hometown after the death of her professional football player husband. The publicity and legal battle after the accident that caused his death led her to take her pre-teen daughter back to her hometown so that they could both heal. Working to put their lives back together the last thing she wanted was to be reminded of the boy she had grown up and fallen in love with. After all, he had broken her heart and she had never forgotten it.
In a small town it’s hard to avoid running into people you’ve known all your life so when Ty and Shannon came face to face with each other at a community festival it was no surprise to anyone but them. Ty saw it as a sign of good luck; whereas, Shannon didn’t quite feel the same. Will they be able to put the past behind them and pick up the pieces of their broken lives or will yesterday’s promises stay unfulfilled and buried in the past

Tyler Rivers is a music star who has moved back to his rural hometown with his young son, for a simpler life. Shannon Keystone has returned to the same hometown, following the death of her husband, with her daughter. Shannon and Tyler had been best friends, and are drawn together when they meet again in their hometown.
I liked the idea for this story and felt that Shannon and Tyler and their children were well-drawn and likeable. I believed in their relationship and their compatibility.
For me, the story itself seemed a bit jumpy. There were great moments between the characters and the games Tyler and Shannon played with one another, but there were also slow moments with extended descriptions that didn't seem necessary and slowed the story down. So, at times, I found my interest waning. I did like the characters enough to want to finish the book and find out how they ended up.
The prologue sets a wonderful scene between Tyler and Shannon when they were kids and I wished for more of those sorts of scenes in the book, where I felt close to the characters and their situation.

I really wanted to enjoy Yesterday's Promises a lot more than I did. I often felt taken out of the story because of long, drawn out descriptions of things that didn't add anything interesting, in my opinion. And the grammar and punctuation errors became very distracting after a while. I think a good editor would make Yesterday's Promises a more enjoyable book. As is, I found it to be just okay.

Full Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the author on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ via Making Connections in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts: Everything happens for a reason. At least, that’s what some of us constantly repeat to ourselves when things go wrong. I thought Yesterday’s Promise had a lot of promising potential based on the overview. It didn’t reach its potential. The main character, Shannon, was irritating. She was constantly angry at the male lead, Tyler, for something that she thought happened more than 10 years earlier. The plot really didn’t flow. It took forever for anything to really build up between Shannon and Tyler and then it moved so fast that I was actually confused by the fact that the book ended. The chemistry between Shannon and Tyler was there, although delving into it took far longer than I thought was necessary. There were also errors missed in editing that were a nuisance for the reader. Overall I liked Yesterday’s Promises, but it didn’t dazzle me. I was never fully engrossed in the plot or invested in what happened to the characters. Therefore, I would not recommend Yesterday’s Promises.

This book was the second book I have read from this author and I have to say I enjoyed this book. From the moment I started to read it I was drawn into the lives of both characters. Ms. Keefer not only made them come to life but she made you feel the pain Shannon felt from what she believed was a betrayal by Ty and the disenchantment she felt for men in general after surviving a bad marriage to the father of her child. Ty has also come from a bad marriage and has returned home to raise his son in the small town environment he grew up with. From the moment the two meet you feel the attraction, the misunderstanding, the hesitancy and beneath it all the undercurrent of a love that never died. This is a book that will make you smile and will leave you in the end feeling happy. The only negative part I have to say is that it did end. Great book and would definitely recommend this to any reader who wants to experience the happy ever after feeling.

Shannon McKinley grew up in the little town of Bedrock. Her neighbor was Tyler Rivers a cute next door neighbor that she had a crush on. Little did she know that he had a crush on her too.

Years later Shannon a widow with a beautiful daughter Shiloh moves back to Bedrock and with her parents on their farm. Ty Rivers decides he needs to come back home too. He has a successful music career in Nashville and a young son Jesse.
Being a small town of course the high school sweethearts meet. Will Yesterday’s Promises become Today’s reality? Read this great book to find out.
I really enjoyed this book and wish it was a series. The author Teresa is great at making you feel a part of Bedrock. This is a great read and a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Head to the town of Bedrock and see for yourself.

A page-turning love story that will melt your heart.

I read this book from start to finish in one sitting. The characters drew me in from the beginning. The author did a great job of making them come alive on the page. This book is a sweet and poignant romance about two childhood friends who went their separate ways as adults and, after failed relationships with other people, aren't quite sure if they're ready to reconnect. I felt their pain and their joy on each and every page.

If you are looking for a heartfelt story about returning to home and family, then this book is for you.

*received for free through Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ First Reads

I enjoyed the story and the setting for the most part, I just felt that at times it got bogged down in the domestic/everyday scenes. I liked the characters and their struggle/resistance to becoming reacquainted. I did not care for the cover of the book, the pictures were not engaging and did not call to mind romance in the least.
