Very handy book for becoming better prepared for emergencies, no matter what your income or housing situation.
When a book starts with a foreword by someone like Daisy Luther, an individual well known within preparedness circles as a trustworthy authority on the topic, you know you're going to be diving into a very good book. Adaptive Prepping by Karen Morris does not disappoint!
Anyone who has tried to assist others with their emergency preparedness efforts has heard a lot of excuses for why they "can't" prepare. Morris lists almost every reason under the sun and explains a multitude of ways folks can prepare. Many times the core of it is actually about overwhelm, and her book shows the reader exactly how to deal with those feelings of overwhelm, in whatever form they take. Explaining that we need to assess our limitations honestly, then mitigate for said limitations by looking at them and making a plan for how to overcome them, the author offers both empathy and a firm tone that helps the reader face their fears head on and start tackling their tasks. She doesn't let us get away with moping around in a bunch of excuses; instead she offers support, encouragement, answers, and a way to make a plan.
Whether the reader is facing physical challenges, a lack of energy or time, financial issues, space constraints, stress and mental/emotional health concerns, or they just feel stuck due to a lack of experience, there's a chapter addressing the matter. Adaptive Prepping is a great start for anyone new to getting ready for life's emergencies, with realistic discussion of the steps to take to work around our limitations, whether they are a matter of a resource restriction or simply our perception of what preparedness should be.
I would have liked to have seen the chapter on physical limitations address more of the possible challenges folks will run into, especially for those who are aging or dealing with chronic illness, and resources to look into to overcome them; a deeper dive into such issues would be nice in the mental/emotional limitation chapter as well. While Adaptive Prepping might not be a big challenge for those who have been on a preparedness journey for a while, it will serve as a great refresher and a road map if something has changed since someone began their efforts. It would definitely make a great gift for a beginner or someone who keeps saying "I should do that!" There will be no more excuses when they have Karen Morris' Adaptive Prepping to walk them through each step!

Very interesting topics brought up that I wouldn’t think of. Not conspiracy or militia content. Practical information to implement. She also has a website. Recommend for preparation tips most people probably wouldn’t think of.
