This series is the cutest, most wholesome manga I've ever read! It's a nice easy read and as a cat lover it's fun to see all the same habits of my cats in manga form!

One volume until we finish and I think, truly, that that¡¯s for the best. This series alternates between being terribly fun and okay fun, but I think much longer and it¡¯ll run out of steam (at least they won¡¯t keep adding cats).

Even this volume has a slight hint of quietly scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as the premise goes. The parodies are okay, but sometimes veer a little harder to the zany than I cared for.

The entire Metal Gear Solid chapter is just way too silly for my own tastes. Similarly the Ace Attorney one has an okay idea that it doesn¡¯t do quite enough with.

When focused on the cats being cats, things work better. Soboro doing classic cat things to a keyboard and Kozakura learning the joys of getting her pets high on catnip are solid chapters.

The switch to remote work also feels like it takes up way too much space here. It gets one fantastic chapter at the start, but then embraces it as the core premise and if you¡¯re like me you¡¯ve probably had your fill of ¡®wacky stuff happens on a Zoom call¡¯ for the rest of your natural life.

I love how both cats have very distinct personalities. Soboro is stubby and doesn¡¯t let anything really phase her, while Musubi is a bit more high strung and wary. She¡¯s also more playful while he leans towards the mischievous.

Hey, it¡¯s fine, but there have been better volumes. I don¡¯t think it¡¯s a letdown, but it didn¡¯t thoroughly entertain to the extent that some other instalments have.

3 stars - okay, not great, some strong moments but not enough to make it stand out (or even alongside in some cases) from what¡¯s come before in the series.

Cat + Gamer Volume 7 was another excellent installment in the Cat + Gamer series following Riko's life with her two cats.

Riko Kozakura has leveled up her cat skills and settled into life with her two cats Musubi and Soboro. But when Riko's job decides to implement remote work, Riko must now learn how to resist the temptation to play with the cats when she's supposed to be working. But Musubi and Soboro don't understand Riko is working and think she's home to spend more time with them.

The Cat + Gamer series has quickly become one of my favorite manga series and this volume was just as fantastic as the previous ones. The book opens with a few fun stories connecting the cats activities to the games Riko is playing. First Riko plays hide and seek with Soboro where she learns Soboro isn't nearly as good at hiding as Musubi. Then one of the cats makes a mess in the kitchen and Riko plays detective to catch the culprit. After that we see Riko having to adjust to working from home which she finds difficult as there are a lot of temptations at home between the cats and gaming. This also led to a few fun moments where the cats intruded on her work day and she found out her manager is also a cat owner. There were a few bonus scenes from the cats' points of view which were delightful. These bonus scenes are some of my favorite parts of this manga series as getting the cats' reactions to Riko's antics are a ton of fun.

Overall Cat + Gamer Volume 7 was a great read and I'm looking forward to picking up the final volume when it releases later this year.

Kozakura and the cats' adventures in this volume include: hide and seek, mystery solving, the "joys" of working from home, new toys, a visit to the vet, the futility of trying to sneak past cats and the attention demands of cats.

Another delightful accumulation of slice of life with cats while trying to work or have other hobbies! A few laugh out loud moments, and several headshaking "Oh. No. Valient effort, but you're never going to get that past them..." I especially loved the mystery solving with the surprise culprit as my cats like to pull that on me every so often as well!

No content issues.

Back to the fun of the earlier volumes. Riko plays hide and seek with her cats and finds that one is better at the game than the other. She must solve a mystery when she hears a crash noise and discovers that one of the cats has made a mess (while she's in the midst of playing a mystery game). And, she is surprised to find that her boss is entertained by the cats climbing all over her or zipping by the screen when she begins working remotely. She also has to learn how to concentrate to avoid letting the cats distract her from her work in her new home office.

This is such a cute series! It's also a very quick read. It helps that I can't put it down once I pick it up, but it's honestly not that wordy to begin with.

This volume was great. The cats are funny and adorable. And Kozakura is honestly just so relatable. This series is just awesome, and I think the next volume might be the last, which is kind of heartbreaking to be honest.

If you want a cute and funny read in these trying times, I highly recommend this series. It's going to suck to see it go.

A few of the stories in this collection include Riko Kozakura trying to figure out the best way of balancing working from home and the cats¡¯ asking for attention, playing hide and seek, finding the culprit of a mess in the kitchen, and finding the wonderful smell of a cat.

Just another fun collection with such relatable things - like Soboro sitting on the keyboard of the computer or Musubi sitting on Riko¡¯s brand new work chair and her sitting on the edge (one of the reasons I think I automatically sit on the edge of my work chair regardless if there¡¯s a cat there or not).

High applauds to the talent of how Nadatani captures the expressions of a cat without changing what a cat will actually look like. Sure, we get inside their heads during the bonus pages, but the cat's faces are truly that of a cat¡¯s face (and the amount of times I¡¯ve seen my own cat in Musubi¡¯s face¡)

Overall, I still absolutely love this series and can¡¯t wait until the next one.

This charming series continues to capture the joys and challenges of being a pet owner and a gamer. A few of the stories in this volume focus on the highs and lows of working from home when pets are around, but the best story here is the very relatable situation of trying to figure out how and why your pets created a specific mess (comparing it to a detective/mystery video game, of course!)

I still adore this series overall (the illustrations are so cute, they capture cats perfectly), but there wasn't much of a plot in this volume. I will continue the series for as long as it runs though because it's a quick, happy read. I love the two cats so much and their personalities really come across.

This is such a good read! The cats just keep getting cuter and cuter! Plus, I saw what Riko is like working from home as both a gamer and a cat owner. That got me curious since the pandemic, but that's just me rambling. Hahaha! Anyways, I am sad that this series is going to come to an end--I wish it would keep going, but it is what it is.

The Cat + Gamer series is one of my 'go to' recommendations when I have people wanting to try Manga for the first time, be they kids or adults.

Two winning hooks (cats and games, duh) makes the central character and story immediately accessible and the various kitty antics are both relatable and huge amount of fun.

Do yourself a favour, and give them a try!

I recently lost my last cat so reading this just reminded me of how wonderful cats are especially when they are young and energetic. I also love how her games are woven in. The work from home video call of them seeing her cats was just too damn cute. I¡¯m glad this gave me joy of remembering my kitties instead of sad missing them.

Another installment of Kozacura and her two cats. She has to play detective to see which cat made a mess in the kitchen area. This volume also had the pros and cons of working from home. Addictions are hazardous whether it be video games or catnip. Quite an enjoyable read! Also surprised to discover that Watari Nadatani is working on Volume 8 which will conclude the series.

I loved the creativity in this one. A trip to the vet becomes a space mission (way to make something boring and annoying so much more interesting)! I loved the "Metal Gear Solid" cardboard box reference and how that scene played out. The drumming and petting one was quite funny. Definitely waiting on more of the series!

Another cute and fun installment of the Cat + Gamer series! This one feels more like a series of vignettes instead of a continual plot, which worked well for me. I appreciated having different topics covered. In this one, there's a nod to working from home on a hybrid schedule, and I really liked the (very real) reactions of the co-workers to having the cats appear onscreen.

This series is such an adorable break from real life. It's nothing groundbreaking but it's so much fun. I see so much of my own kitties in the book and it's incredibly relatable. Highly recommend to anyone who needs a light, fun mango to relax.
