1.5-why-the-fuck-am-I doing-this-to-myself-stars

I told myself that I wouldn't waste my time on the books that I know for sure would be torture to read because I'd hate them. After finishing , I put Pepper Winters novels on that list.
But here I am - reading her latest release.
Why? I got sick of all five stars raving reviews and thought: "Maybe I should give her a second chance. Maybe this book is different." (And maybe there should be a less flattering review out there too.)

Unfortunately, I did not like Debt Inheritance.

Story.

description

Debt Inheritance can be described as a book with identity crisis - it doesn't know would it rather be contemporary or historical, pseudo-incest or kidnap kink, billionaire or motorcycle club romance. If you think about it, it would be a perfect parody of everything that is popular in romance genre last two or three years, but sadly, this book takes all of those cliches super seriously.

Characters.

description

Let's see! Nila is a clumsy girl, but unlike Bella she has an excuse - she suffers from condition called vertigo. (I have no idea if that is even real, but even if it is, I doubt that some things work out as it's described here.) She is sheltered 24 years old woman who is at the same time naive like a little girl from 17th century and successful fashion designer, educated woman and public figure. Her mother left when she was a little so, of course, she has abandonment issues. She had sex only once in her life, but only because she got drunk. You see, her father and brother are protective like shit and they don't let her date, go out or do anything fun. Because they love her and want to protect her. And she is surrounded with all all this technology called internet, phones, computers, Google, social networks - which she is permitted to use, but she doesn't. Or does, but in this really weird way. Like, sexting with some random guy who mistakenly sent her message and he thinks she is a nun. And oh my God, don't let me even start with how stupid those messages are!!!

What is next? Oh yes - her brother. He is gorgeous and they are almost flirting on every page and everyone thinks that they are lovers because they are too close, and she would date him but she can't because it would be incest and it's like disgusting. And her daddy is so sweet and handsome an he thinks only on her well being. Two pages later... She feels that her brother and father aren't allowing her to be herself and she is under so much stress to prove herself, to make them see her as worthy. What. The. Fuck!? Make your damn mind!!!

description

Here is the greatest level of her stupidity. So, she is hosting her very first fashion show. Lights are out, everything went great and then comes her father and tells her that she will go with this complete stranger to celebrate. Guy is weird and all, and she feels all this darkness coming out of him. I can't even replicate how idiotic that whole part of the story was. It was like watching one of those Discovery shows about mating of black widows or something like that. And in next 24 hours this girl changes and feels some kind of connection with the stranger who kidnaped her with her father's permission, hit her, made her sleep with the dogs and pretty much told her that after he's finished with her, he will kill her.

All because of some vague family debt and piece of paper signed 600 years ago! o.O (P.S. I didn't get that part at all.)

description

Jethro Hawk is:
a) millionaire;
b) criminal;
c) member of motorcycle club;
d) monster;
e) sexual dominant;
f) sadist;
g) price charming on black horse or
h) all of the above.

Correct answer would be all of the above. He looks like Christian Gray, but rides Harley like Deuce from series. He is member of - wait for it - Black Diamond Brotherhood, former smugglers and now bikers, aristocrats and diamond traders. He is big and scary, he is annoyed with this little girl he got to train and kill because she doesn't have boobs and have no idea how to make him come with her hands. (Yes, she never watched porn or read smut, despite the fact that she has phone and computer. But hey, she is great with sexting. Or her mysterious friend tells her so.) But this monster is actually your regular softy because she makes him forget who is in charge and she makes him super hard and desperate to get into her pants. And possessive too. Suddenly, he has a change of heart, after seeing how good little girl she was after "serving" his 27 brothers and he offers her opportunity to earn freedom. Kind of - he plans to hunt her like an animal in the woods surrounding his family mansion.

Hmmmmm....

★★★★! Debt Inheritance, book 1 of 7. A dark & sexual tale of one man’s quest to collect a centuries old debt by getting an heiress to surrender to him!

“We might live in a civilized world, but rules and laws didn’t apply to me. I was a rule-breaker, curse-maker, life-stealer.

Books in Indebted Serial should be read in order:
Book 1: Debt Inheritance
Book 2: First Debt
Book 3: Second Debt
Book 4: Third Debt
Book 5: Fourth Debt
Book 6: Final Debt
Book 7: Indebted Epilogue

Debt Inheritance (book 1), starts off like a dark modern day fairytale if you will. Fashion designer Nila Weaver, Threads is getting ready for her fashion show in Milan. By her side is her twin brother and best friend, Vaughn.

Her show is a success and afterwards her father introduces her to Jethro Hawk, Jet informing her that she will be joining Jethro for dinner. This is perplexing to Nila, not only because she already has other plans, but also because in all her 24 years she has been sheltered by her over-protective father and possessive brother.

This sophisticated, attractive and mysterious stranger intrigues Nila, so she goes willingly naively hoping for some romance. She couldn’t be more wrong!

“You live in a fairytale, princess and I’m about to destroy it.

Jethro is in Milan to pick up Nila, to collect the debt owed to his family by the Weaver family for over 300 years (year 1672). Away from her family Jethro quickly shows his true colors; he is volatile temper, rude manners and ruthless handling of Nila.

There are hints to some mitigation circumstances that will unfold, but he more or less forces Nila to follow him back to England to his ancestor’s home, Hawksridge Hall, where Nila is to learn more about the debt her family owes and how she is to repay it

I am reading this based on the assumption that Jethro Hawk, Jet will have or develop redeeming qualities, very little of which are hinted to in book 1. Eight words to describe Jethro: Ruthless, mercurial, complex, conflicted, determined, commanding, vengeful and tortured.

“He reeked of manipulation and control.

Just like the story has a purpose and journey for Jethro I predict this will be Nila Weaver, Threads’s journey of empowerment. I liked the hints of her fire and my heart bled for her physical ailments, but sometimes her mind was too gullible. Seven words to describe Nila: Naïve, focused, impressionable, frail, spirited, feisty and confused.

“I was clueless on hot to control her. I didn’t understand her.

Book 1 is dark, explicit and sexual, at the center of it all a depraved, sinister and complex Jethro who is gruesome in his treatment of Nila. But as story unfolds and we are privy to Jethro’s past and secrets I foresee he is very much a product of his upbringing and past and thus I am presuming that he has redeeming qualities which will surface or evolve in series.

Debt Inheritance will be an ongoing serial. Book 1 ends with a cliffhanger. I am anticipating book 2, First Debt for the continuation of their story.

Dark and gritty plot! Complex and sexual hero! Spellbinding story-telling!

“His eyes flashed and the misconception that he didn’t know passion dissolved. He knew it. He wielded it. He hid beneath layers and layers of mystery I would never hope to unravel.

5 Dark and Sinful stars!!!

As a reader, I love the dark and twisted reads. I can’t get enough of the ones that make my heart race and keep me on the edge of my seat. It is most certainly one of my genres of choice. More often than not, books are classified as ‘dark but still have some sweet, some romance, some happy. I can state with absolute certainty that Debt Inheritance isn’t one of those books. It’s dark, gritty and erotic, but not in a sweet way. In a dark and sexy way. Pepper Winters is one of the few authors I’ve read that can pull off dark and raw flawlessly. Once you meet Jethro Hawk, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Jethro is a Hawk, and that means something. His family is influential in many ways. Now that he’s twenty nine, he gets the family inheritance. He gets to collect the woman who’s family has had a long standing debt to his.
There was a debt to be paid. And I was the method of extraction. Plain and simple. I’m a Hawk. She’s a Weaver. That was all I needed to know.

Nila Weaver isn’t your average twenty four year old woman. She’s a fashion designer, and after living a fairly sheltered life, the only people she’s close with are her brother and father. She lives her life cautiously. She works hard, lives up to all the expectations placed on her, and doesn’t date. Besides her family, she keeps to herself. When she meets Jethro Hawk- everything changes.

It is so refreshing to find an anti-hero that is more of a villain than anything else. Maybe it’s just me, but I love when my heroes have more dark than light. I’m not sure if there is anything redeemable there with Jethro, but I’m dying to find out! Cold, cunning, calculating- he was, quite frankly a little terrifying, yet very alluring. Ruthless and yummy- I have to say I’m fascinated by this man.
Let her believe her tears affected me, opening my arms and offering false humanity. I let her believe I had a soul, and didn’t punish her for hoping. Hoping I was redeemable. Such a silly girl. A silly toy. She’d been given to me to do as I pleased. And everyone knows, you don’t give a pet to a killer.

Nila is a shy girl at first, a little peculiar but damn! Does she come out of her shell. She is a little firecracker underneath it all. A strong woman who isn’t going to just lie down and take it. She’s a fighter and is tougher than she seems. Going through all this really forces her to come into herself, stand up for herself and show that fierce strength she’s always had lurking inside.

Debt Inherence was extremely fast paced, thrilling, wickedly sexy and bold. This author always goes out of the box and gives us original twisted and captivating tales. Is there a cliffhanger- of course there is. It’s a dark trilogy. You know the ending is going to leave you hanging and craving more. And once you finish, you will want so much more.

I devoured this book. It is a unique story full of secrets and suspense. There were so many things I was questioning that came to light by the end, but I still have so much more I need to know. I will be highly anticipating the next installment of this deliciously dark series.

I truly was Cinderella, only my prince threw away the glass slipper and stole me away before midnight struck. My prince was evil. My prince was a villain.

Read this book again, and finished it in one day. I have a problem...

BUT I FUCKING LOVE PEPPER WINTERS!

Hero/Anti Hero
Jethro Hawk.... I can't think of a single word to describe him.
He's controlling, mean, rude, hateful and he's terrifying, but this somehow made me drawn to him more.
Should I be worried that I fall for men who are complete assholes...?
I wanted to really hate Jethro. I really tried to, but I just couldn't. He really is something.

Heroine.
Nila Weaver. A feisty fashion designer who was the perfect heroine.
The best heroine I think I've read in a while.
I loved the fact that she was strong throughout the whole book because she didn't give in, or come off as weak.
Nila's a very strong woman, and she didn't turn into a heroine that's like 'yes sir' or begging all the time. Nila had a backbone, and I loved her as a character.

The Book.
So, Debt Inheritance starts off with Nila Weaver getting ready for her fashion show in Milan. Accompanying her is her twin brother Vaughn and her father.
After her show, Nila's father introduces her to Jethro Hawk, and tells her that Jethro's there to take her to dinner, but it turns out that Jethro's actually in Milan to pick up Nila, to collect the debt owed to his family by the Weaver family for over 300 years.

This book is really dark, but I love dark and sinister reads.
Literally I cannot wait until I start writing Adult books!

What a disappointment this book was!

First I want to say I love dark erotica romance, but this book has zero erotica and zero romance. Yes it has darkness, but that stands for cruelty.
There's so much wrong with this story...Probably the writer wanted to push the limits and dare...but she pushed too much.

The hero is a repulsive monster who has a stone in the place of heart, a real psycho...like all his family, composed by 3 more monsters.

The heroine is a complete idiot, a spoiled rich girl, who's making a name worldwide as a stylist, but like all the rich can't enjoy her life and fortune, because she has a stupid drama: meaning she's sexually frustrated. She can't find a man to bang her...because her father and brother are overprotective and we are talking about a 24 years old business woman that travels the world...Add to this that she thinks of herself as unattractive. She has this virtual friend with whom she chats but doesn't know anything about him. And she's developing a crush on him and becoming obsessed with him....But remember that she does not even now if this person in real life is a man or a woman, an old man or a teen and she keeps talking dirt and helping him jerk off...think about her stupidity.

This is a story of abuse, humiliation and rape...no love, no romance, no lust, the hero hates the heroine and thinks of her as ugly...and the heroine hates the hero, wants to kill him but since this sicko is the only man coming around her (not for good motives), she thinks she can lay down with him...at least for once and not die without having a real orgasm...yes you heard it right, she's that desperate!

I expected a change in the hero's behavior...I wanted him to care even 1% about her, or see some lust or passion whatever...but NADA DE NADA.......And not because possessiveness or jealously but because he can't wait to be the first to torment this poor girl...Wait did I say poor girl??? Nothing is poor about her, she's as disgusting as them...What woman that is being abused gets horny and wants to please them???...The men who are going to kill her, abuse her some more...the men who abused and killed her mother and all the women in her family???

I wanted to throw up the whole time during that scene...disgusted with what I was reading.

I loved Tears of Tess so much for me was a 6 stars read, but it was a connection there between heroine and hero the whole time...but this new story is just cruelty, abuse, disgust...no glimpse of humanity, romance, lust, love...we have a monster and a woman with some mental problem who can't stand up for herself.

5 The world was a dangerous place, but I was worse Stars

You live in a fairytale, princess, and I'm about to destroy it.

Holy mother of WOW. I have recently sworn off serials after one too many cliffys left me a ragey mess, but it's Pepper Winters and there's no way I was going to pass this one by and DAMN am I glad I didn't. You know the thing that I've come to truly love about this author? The unpredictability of her writing. What I mean is, no one character is alike. If I didn't know I was reading a Pepper Winters book, I don't think I would have guessed it. Jethro Hawk is no Fox and he's no Q. This is the ultimate anti-hero. He's cold, he's brutal, and there is no question after finishing this mind fuck of a book that I am truly and utterly hooked. Will I be waiting until all the books release to read the rest? Fuck no. I will be waiting and begging for any and all scraps that Pepper throws my way and reading these books THE DAY they come out. I don't even care about the cliffys. It's THAT good.

This had to be one of the best anti-heroes I've read to date. If you think that Jethro is cold and ruthless until he meets Nila and all of a sudden his uncontrollable lust for her makes him question everything he does to her...think again.

There was no compassion in his light-brown eyes. No sympathy or even guilt. How did he have the power to be so close to me- to grow hard wanting me- and know all along my fate?
Only a special person could do that. A person who wasn't born of this world but brimstone and fire. From hell.

I spent the entire book waiting for a chink in his armor...good thing I didn't hold my breath because there was none. Not in this book anyway. Don't go into this expecting a romance. Eroticism? Hell yes. But you'll find no romance here, not yet.

Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. What for? That will be the biggest question you have and keep you turning the pages with bated breath...only to find more questions. Nila is a famous designer that's been sheltered her whole life growing up in a loving and affluent family. But all that changes the day a mysterious man with golden eyes comes for her.

Nila may be sheltered and inexperienced, but this is a heroine that has a hidden core of strength that only grows stronger and more pronounced as the story progresses.

I devoured this book. Although this is a serial, it's a book length of 255 pages. And you know what? Not a sentence was wasted. The character development was phenomenal. Jethro Hawke is a hero you will love to hate. He equal parts terrified me and turned me on, which is no small feat to accomplish.

Coldness etched his gaze.
Aloofness whispered from his posture.
Calculation radiated from his every pore.
I'd never been so intimidated or so intimately challenged.

Unpredictable. Gritty. Erotic. Unputdownable. Filled with enough twists and turns this book will leave you questioning everything, never knowing up from down and right from wrong. Just as I thought I knew where the story was headed, I'd be thrown for another loop. Pepper Winters is truly an evil genius. Even the damn cliffy was fitting. I couldn't imagine this book ending a different way. It was perfect (even if it did leave me an anxious mess for the next one). Now to wait 8-10 weeks for the next one just may kill me.

I would enjoy ruining Nila, because I liked breaking things. But not in a gruesome barbaric way. I liked to break them smoothly, gently, ruthlessly. I liked to think I transformed creatures from their present to their potential.

Now live on

4 stars!!

description

I can pretty much say that with Pepper’s books, always expect the unexpected. I never know what she has up her sleeve. As dark and thrilling her stories are, the one emotion I’ve never felt is terror. At least, not until now. This first book in the Indebted series is not only dark and deliciously sinful, but also chilling to the bone to read. I have to emphasize that this is NOT a romance, at least not yet. This is dark erotica with an eerie twist.

*

There is a centuries old debt that exists between the Weaver family and the Hawk family. The Weavers owe the Hawks and so it was declared that the first-born daughter of the Weavers would be offered to the Hawks, generation after generation until the debt has been paid. Fast forward to present day, where we find the heroine Nila Weaver in the same position as her predecessors. A young and rising star in designing, Nila has the world at her fingertips a loving father, a fiercely protective brother, and immense wealth at her disposal. She never expects her world to be turned upside down with Jethro Hawk’s arrival.

A true anti-hero to the core, Jethro Hawk is cold and calculating. As with family tradition, he’s been waiting to get Nila to his estate to collect the unpaid debt. Manipulative and cunning, Jethro wields financial and political power over the Weaver family, thus rendering Nila helpless in his clutches. Through blackmail, he coerces her to go with him to his home as part of the ancient debt inheritance agreement.

*

The two main characters are very well-developed. It is easy to sympathize for the sheltered and innocent Nila. Even with her fate unknown, she remains strong and resilient. As for Jethro, if Pepper intended for the reader to feel scared and turned on at the same time, she’s accomplished her goal. Jethro is no Q there are no boundaries with this man.

description

As always, Pepper’s writing is flawless and she never fails to reel me into her stories and keep me there until I flip to the last page. My few complaints are

I went into the book knowing there’d be a cliffhanger and surprisingly, I really loved the ending. As a reader who craves exhilaration and thrill, the ending was pretty kickass! Plus, I can be understanding of cliffhangers as long as they add to the story and not just serve as shock value or a marketing ploy and IMO, this kind of ending was inevitable based on the direction of the story.

I would recommend this book to fans of dark erotica and any reader who’s in the mood for a good mindfuck ;)

This is a serial but the book is 255 pages, basically full length novel size.

***4.75 DEBTOR AND DEBTEE stars***

“I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It’s undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you’ve paid off your debts.
description

DEBT INHERITANCE is my first Pepper Winters book and won't be my last. I'm anticipating the next installment of "Indebted series." I'm a fan of dark romances and I've been told Ms. Winters is a master of this genre.

Hopelessness is a key element of dark romances and Debt Inheritance delivers that feeling of desperation very well. One mistake six hundred years ago means Nila must willingly be the one to repay this debt for her family. Jethro receives Nila as an inheritance present. She is his to do with what he wants until the debt is paid off.

Mystery, intrigue and curiosity captures the reader and holds them prisoner to the pages. Manipulation and control command the reader to be alert and watch for clues to this conundrum that is woven throughout Debt Inheritance.

I loved the cliffhanger because it left me wanting MORE. I've become immune to cliffhangers for the most part because of all the books in 2012 that left the reader hanging for a year at a time. I use to go nuts waiting for the next book to come out in a series but now, if a cliffhanger is done well, I find it fun waiting (not for a year between installments). It's like waiting for Christmas morning with all your friends for that book to hit your kindle. Don't let the fact that this is a cliffhanger stop you from reading this book. You won't regret it.

SERIES:

'Each installment will follow Nila and Jethro and be dark, tense, sinful. I can't promise no cliffhangers, but I can promise that when the series starts they will come often and be small book length not short episodes.' -Pepper Winters

"Time to begin. The time is nigh to pay your debts."

Head shaking ridiculousness. The debt - the maid costume - rich mc gang- the Weaver Wailer - the whole kit and caboodle was basically laughable.

The only thing halfway interesting is who is Kite?

Oh, Holy CRAP!! All Hail Pepper Winters, Undisputed Queen of the Darkness. Yes, this is absolutely Vintage Pepper Winters a darkly fascinating and compelling read that will have you hurtling through the pages and howling for more at the end. I didn’t just read this book I completely devoured this book! It absolutely consumed me and I found it nigh on impossible to put down.

Even after the first chapter I had chills and goosebumps and I knew I was in for a dark ride. The hallmark of good dark erotica is to scare and shock you while turning you on, all at the same time and Debt Inheritance definitely does that with a couple of strong standout scenes that will appal you and yet completely entrance you.

Our poor abused heroine is Nila Weaver, very much loved daughter and twin sister, brought up in the heart of an overprotective father and possessive twin brother, very much cocooned at the centre of her family with really only one sexual experience to talk of.

Turns out that all that freedom was nothing but an illusion for Nila. She was always indebted, always promised into a life of servitude long before she was born and never destined to pursue her glittering dreams at liberty. Jethro comes to call in that debt and whisks her away from the glittering catwalk show in Milan to his secluded and isolated mansion in the heart of England where she will begin to pay off that debt.

Jethro was truly freaking terrifying. I kept looking for the spark of humanity, a little glimmer of the hero about him but there is none. He is an out and out bastard with absolutely no redeeming features, more than willing to share her out amongst his ‘men. Oh, Nila where is your Q? Who will rescue you from this awful fate? I see no one here that can help her Nila will have to save herself, if she is to be saved.

I so admired Nila’s strength and fortitude, her determination not to be beaten down by this society of sick and depraved men. I loved the way she tried to keep her integrity intact all the while knowing that she must submit to their disgusting demands. Domineering as Jethro is, Nila’s still holding some secrets to herself and I hope to see more of the mysterious Kite in the books to come.

Poor Nila she has so much to endure through no fault of her own, paying off a centuries old debt, holding the fate of those she loves in her hands, fearing for their lives as well as her own. The book starts off in the frenzied atmosphere of a catwalk show in Milan and builds with a frightening intensity and hits fever pitch when we get to the shock and awe that is the second half of this novel which contains scenes so darkly fascinating it’s just about impossible to stop reading. Even though the story so far really only spans about 24 hours, if that, so much is packed into these pages making it an engrossing read, you’ll feel like you’ve read a much longer book.

The ending is left wide open and I can’t believe we’ve now got to wait several months for First Debt, book 2 of the Indebted series, to be released. I don’t know how I’m going to make it through I need this book NOW!!! Are you listening Pepper?? This is a lightning storm of high quality dark erotica, both frightening and fascinating. This is Pepper Winters at her finest.

Debt Inheritance is one of the most creative storylines that I’ve read in quite some time , To say I'm addicted is an understatement God I love it :D I’m already 20% in the second book maaaan it’s getting better and better :D Nila Weaver is successful business woman who lived a sheltered life because of her overprotective father and brother, Jethro Hawk is 29 years old He is a rule-breaker , curse-maker , life-stealer, his family «hawks» Diamond merchants, biker royalty and proven masters of the weaver’s fate ! had an agreement with the «weavers» the first born girl belonged to them a "sacrifice" and poor Nila is Jethro’s «inheritance» and he is going to take what belongs to him, THIS BOOK. IS NOT FOR EVERYONE there is a lot of dehumanizing acts involve pain in varying degrees

I inherited her. I preyed on her.I owned her life and had the piece of paper to prove it.Nila Weaver.Mine.And my task....devour her.

2.5 to 3 Stars...Maybe

I don't really know what to say about this one except that it didn't really fulfill my expectations for it as far as the premise goes. I don't feel like the reasons for "the debt" were very clearly and plausibly explained and I just don't buy Nila going along with it the way she did.

Also, the whole . Super weird. I don't see the purpose of it and I just don't see that happening IRL. Anyhow, hopefully all of this will be explained in number two.

This was an ok read for me. I am hopeful that as the story continues, the more that it will grab my attention. So far I am not feeling any warm fuzzies as far as the hero goes..and Nila is getting on my nerves at times too. I keep wanting to yell at her to just obey and take the easy road. She is a fighter though, and it is somewhat nice to see her finding her strength through this adversity she is faced with.

I have to say that I am intrigued with the brothers too, I just know there is way more to this story that has been told, so again; I think as the books continue the more I think I will be into everything that is going on!!!

I have always enjoyed Pepper Winters writing, so I am quite positive this is going to reach out and grab me soon! LOL

CLIFFY CLIFFY CLIFFY AND IT IS MAJOR

"The time is nigh to pay your debts. Your past has found you, and there will be no peace until she's ours"

This story took my surprise in many ways. I really don't know how much I like Jethro....I like him for one moment and then I don't. That is one hot and cold hero and there are many many unanswered questions. I am hoping that they all connect in next book.

What is it about A girl paying her debts --- not hers directly but her generations.

Hero HOT

Heroine KICK ARSE

Connection between them Nothing deep yet expect that capture - victim vibe but Nila was always protected by her Dad and brother, hence she lacks a little in the sex department.......so you know what I meant right?

Plot It was unique and DARK DARK DARK - different kind of DARK as it leaves you wanting more.... well, that's cause you hardly get anything from this book. Everything is pretty much mysterious.

STEAM It was mild but you can feel the heat

I am really looking forward for the next book as there are so many parts that simply doesn't make sense at all. If you are looking forward for an adventure, try this. But if you are not a fan of cliffhangers, then sometimes for you to consider.

Happy reading

D xo

If you get a kick out of sadism, this might be the book for you because there is some sick shit going on in here. And, it's not like some alpha male who is dominant, but sexy - the male lead is a literal sadist. And, he's literally abusive and has no empathy for other humans. Basically, a serial killer who has been given license to torture and kill a young woman.

And, that's the second problem: the plotline is so outrageous and unbelievable that it is stupid. It's one thing to set-up a world where something like a blood-debt could be handed down through generations, but this book is supposedly set in our modern world. In that case, it is ridiculous.

Which brings me to the biggest problem: the "heroine". She is actually too-stupid-to-live. That is the only reason I will excuse the sadistic bastard that kidnapped her: she is dumb enough to believe that she has to go with him and allow herself to be abused until death. I have a novel idea for you: when a psychopath tells you that you have to let him kidnap you: run, scream, go to the police, and fight with everything you have in you. Don't automatically believe whatever the kidnapper tells you - he might be lying. And, you know that blood-debt contract that your ancestors signed? I don't think it would hold up in a court of law. Idiot.

Jethro has a debt he needs to collect. And the debt? Nila.

The first half of the book was hard getting into. Jethro going on and on (and on!) about this debt got on my nerves. Second half was much better and it leads nicely into book 2. I found Jethro quite heartless, although I dont think his character was suppose to be likeable.

Maybe Ive become immune to dark books but this one failed to shock me. But it was a page turner. Also I dont think I will forget this cliffy anytime soon.

Something just didn't convince me entirely here...

Was it Nila's inner compliance to follow Jethro?

Jethro's calm demeanor in spite of his prey's "bad" attitude?

The Hawk's men way to remain cryptic while expecting her to understand it all?

Her blind acceptance of the rules?

Or is it just me, that find Dark erotica to be laughable sometimes?

I don't know for sure, but I'm still very curious to see where Pepper Winters wants to go with this.
She did such a brilliant job with Jethro's character, I found myself drawn to him against my will.
Coldness etched his gaze.
Aloofness whispered from his posture.
Calculation radiated from his every pore.
I'd never been so intimidated or so intimately challenged.

Will I read the next in this series?
Just to witness the shattering of the cold man?

I breathed hard, even now struggling to find my beloved coldness. I needed an icy shower. I need to teach her a fucking lesson - that's what I need.

ABSOLUTELY, YES.

Serious Book hangover!!!!

Pepper Winters is officially my hero. I was immediately drawn in to the world of Nila and Jethro. OMG...dark is what Ms. Winters does and damn, she does it well. I found myself drawn to Jethro in a way that is wrong by everything that's on the surface. However, as we all know, there is much more to Pepper Winter's characters than what is on the surface.

And the story! OMG...woven and layered. The suspense is real and intense. I can't wait to learn more about these characters.

Indebted #1 is a FANTASTIC start to what I believe will be a series unlike any I've ever read. All I can say is if you enjoy pushing the limits, if you enjoy the dark side, stop reading my review and one click immediately! You will not be disappointed!

Find an anchor. Hold on tight. Do this and you’ll be alright.

Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter.

She is no longer free.

Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his twenty-ninth birthday. Her life is his until she’s paid off a debt that’s centuries old. He can do what he likes with her—nothing is out of bounds—she has to obey.

There are no rules. Only payments.

Jethro
I’m a Hawk but blood doesn’t flow in my veins. I’m born of a substance unbeatable by any other—diamonds. I’m a smuggler. I’m a dealer. And I’m about to become a killer.

Cold and cruel, there is no warmth in his eyes, he knows whats due to him and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. He knows the game he has to play, after all in the end he is the winner, so might as well sit back and enjoy the ride.

Nila
Death was coming. Shouldn’t I try to live before I died?

A sex starved woman, who is surrounded by over-protective men. Her father and brother never let her have fun and enjoy, so what makes Jethro different, why would her father turn her care over to him ??? Curiosity killed the cat, and no matter how hard she tries, she is trapped into a world she knows nothing of. A sought after fashion designer one day and the next a lady in waiting, a servant to a monster.

Kite007
He’s the monster I know. He’s not sweetness and light but he’s mine because I choose him to be.

Nila's sext buddy, nothing personal just some fun and release. He's proven to be an ass, but at least it's her who chose him and not someone she is forced to play nice with. "The nameless teasing male who had more power over me than any other man. A stupid secret crush. With a stranger no less. It’s a sad day when I’m emotionally invested in a fantasy."

Debt Inheritance is a fucked up story, talk about a debt to last a lifetime... Nila gets the short end of the stick being the first born daughter in her family, betrayed and left at the mercy of the Jethro, she has no choice but to do what ever they say or else risk the lives of those she loves most. I can't say more than what I have already said, it is one of those stories your just going to have to go in and read for your self, come to your own conclusions.

For me, it was such an unusual-borderline unbelievable story; told from Jethro's & Nila's POV, we get to see first hand how crazy Jethro's beliefs are and how stupidly naive Nila is. As much as I was fighting with the book, I was so intrigued by it, I kept on just to see what happens next. Sad to say this isn't a stand alone, leaving off on a cliff hanger with the second book no where in sight. The writing is engrossing, but I wish we got more out of this first book, it revolved around the debt itself and as we read through the agreement, there were still unanswered questions as to what happened all those years ago to warrant such a punishment. I got to sit back and wait patiently for the next book to get my answers, fingers crossed it's coming real soon!

That was the most disgusting thing I've ever read. Jethro is by far the most hateful, horrible hero ever created - and I didn't think I could ever hate anyone more than Craving constellation's hero. But here it is.
Disrespect and humiliate a woman like it's happening in this book makes me so mad I wanted to throw my kindle out the window. I can't believe people can actually like this, that they can appreciate a book where the heroine gets humiliated and forced to do such degradating things against her will.

So in usual patented Pepper Winters fashion, this mad woman delivers a dark, gritty, addictive, at the edge of you seat type of read that will leave you cringing for more and offered with no apologies whatsoever!!

I swear, normally, I can kind of jest where the author is going to go with their stories but with this one everything is totally up in the air for me. I just don’t know what’s going to come and have a billion of questions.

Jethro Hawk is a force to be reckoned with and poor Nila Weaver is just a pawn to his game (and pleasure) after a centuries debt made her his to do with as he desires.

What will be the outcome of all of this? What dark twisted secrets still lurk in the shadows? And what more could be in store for both Jethro and Nila?

#A very complex, intriguing, and suspenseful read with a heroine you want to cheer on and protect; as well as a dangerous, unrelenting, enigma of a man that will make you wonder where his true agenda lies and how much further he will push the limit with our protagonist.

Let it be known readers that read is not for the light of heart and that nothing is out of the running when it comes to how far Ms. Winters will go to throw a raw, powerful, and edgy statement that will leave you speechless and in awe!! I DEFINITELY can’t wait to see what happens next!! Fabulous job Pepper!! This book was a gem!!

'There was a debt to be paid. And I was the method of extraction. Plain and simple. I’m a Hawk. She’s a Weaver. That was all I needed to know.'

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

Wow...all I can freaking say is...WOW! I took me a while to collect my thoughts about this one. It was just so twisted and dark, and it had me completely enthralled. After much consideration, I know that I did like this one. Sure, there were parts I raised my eyebrow at, but for the most part it was really good in weird way.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

'I inherited her.
I preyed on her.
I owned her life and had the piece of paper to prove it.
Nila Weaver.
Mine.
And my task………devour her.'

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

The book begins with Nila, a fashion designer that suffers from vertigo, showing off her first collection at a show. She is shown sharing some dirty text with Kite007. I didn't know what to make out of her. She's been sheltered, and both her Father and Brother always keep an eye on her, meaning she has no dating life. Yet, here she is texting a man that texted her by mistake one day. Those texts were definitely really interesting. Nila is ready to kind of become her own person. She loves her family but would like them to be a bit less overbearing. But it turns out that everything she had thought about her family was a big lie.

Jethro Hawk comes from a very important family. They have connections to people in high places. He is wealthy, arrogant, confident, and cold. The time has come for him to finally receive his family inheritance. But it isn't like anything you can imagine. He is inheriting a woman, that woman is Nila and she has to pay his family her family's debt.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

'Turned out, I was never an individual; I was a possession to trade.
I was never unique; someone had lived my life many times before, never free, never whole.
My life was never mine.
My destiny was already written.
My story began the night he came for me.'

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

This story is so messed up in so many ways. I honestly don't know how that whole inheritance thing can still be legal after so many freaking years. It just does not seem possible. I really loved the twisted story even if it was all messed up. But, there were times Nila did become a tad bit annoying. I just feel like she could have made better decisions. Jethro on the other hand, scared the living crap out of me, in fact, his whole family does. There is this whole scene that made skin just craw so bad. I know this is totally wrong to say, but, I am waiting to see how evil Jethro can be, not that he wasn't pretty bad already. But, because so far he had been pretty patient with Nila despite all his warning of punishments. So, I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. Right now, I don't like Jethro, because all of the things he let happen, so, I also can't wait and see how this story develops and if he will be able to redeem himself. Overall, it was a really great start to this twisted tale.

Bloody hell! I have no idea what I read there. I even had to sleep and think about this before I could write something down and after careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that I sort of liked it...I’m almost willing to say I love it?! It kind of grows on you and makes you curious, I guess.

This book is fucked up from beginning to end, some parts more so than others, but overall it’s a complete nightmare and I really like that in a book. To say Ms. Winters hit a lot of emotions with this one is the understatement of the century. I was shocked, amused, angry, I felt sick, I was annoyed and most of all I was confused. Are you actually going to tell me this whole thing would hold up in a court of law, today? If so, I want to leave this planet...immediately!

Ok, so what do we have here?

”I truly was Cinderella, only my prince threw away the glass slipper and stole me away before midnight struck. My prince was evil. My prince was the villain.

Nila Weaver is a successful business woman and a bit of a novice when it comes to relationships. Outside of work and her family, there is only one person she interacts with; mysterious stranger #1, called kite007 and she sexting with him. That a girl!

Nila is 24 years old and blissfully ignorant about the nightmare her life will turn into at the end of the night. After finishing a successful presentation of her new clothing line in Milan, she is prepared to celebrate with her father and twin brother. But daddy dearest has other ideas...not that he has any choice, but he introduces her to a mysterious stranger who wants to take her out for the night.

And that is where the unbelievable begins.

”Turned out, I was never an individual; I was a possession to trade.
I was never unique; someone had lived my life many times before, never free, never whole.
My life was never mine.
My destiny was already written.
My story began the night he came for me.

Meet mysterious stranger #2 Jethro Hawk, 29 years old. He has come to Milan to collect a debt. A debt that can only be paid by the first born Weaver daughter.

There goes all reason and human decency.

...hope to see again someday.

Apparently centuries ago the Weavers committed some huge and unforgivable crime against the Hawk family and they decided to settle the issue by giving over the first born female of every new generation. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

“I not only stole your past. I’ve already stolen your future.

In this first instalment of Ms. Winters' newest series we see the first 24 hours Jethro and Nila spend together. After leaving the fashion show the two hopefully-future-lovebirds perform a little battle of wills and eventually Nila learns about her fate. She has to go with him or bad things will happen to her family. Oh dear. Girl you are in trouble!

“She had to learn that the day granted hope and happiness, but I stole it. She had to face that the night hid evil and darkness, but my soul was blacker.

What follows is insane to say the least. Jethro is no prince charming and he most certainly has no good intentions, and neither does his family and brothers. I was hoping for some small hints of ...well a heart really, but there doesn't seem to be any of that. Just a bit of curiosity and some lust; no redeeming qualities, no flickers of light in the persona, just pure evil and I'll be damned if that wasn't the most sexy thing I've ever read.

I'm not sure how I feel about Nila yet. In the beginning she was all over the place, indecicive and sometimes a bit annoying. But she has some very strong moments later on and honestly she does the best with the situation at hand. A lot less crying than I would have thought.

Now, I'm a bit twisted and I understand a lot of people thought the book went too far and way over the line, but I actually enjoyed seeing Ms. Winters' balls. It takes a lot to write something like that and get away with it. I want to meet her publisher and I want more.

BUT, there really is no excuse for the things that happen to Nila in her first day at the Hawk residence and I'm afraid it is about to get a lot worse.

So...Run Forrest Run!

This is no dark romance...it's just dark and it's good, in my humble opinion. I just wanted to point it out, if you haven't got the message yet. ;P

I have to say, my rating for this one went up and down. For the first 60% I was absolutely certain I would give Debt Inheritance 5 Stars, at about 70% I was so shocked and appalled I almost couldn't finish reading but after I made it to the end I didn't even know how to write a review all together. Now, after sleeping on it and taking a day off I will give this book 4 Stars. Mainly because the writing is superb, the author took me past my limits and I appreciate the challenge, but most of all because I want to see where this goes.

“You live in a fairytale, princess and I’m about to destroy it.

There is just one more thing I would like to know. How the hell is this supposed to end in an HEA?

Here is to hoping!

I truly was Cinderella, only my prince threw away the glass slipper and stole me away before midnight struck. My prince was evil. My prince was the villain.

First off, let me remind everyone that this is NOT a Dark Romance, neither is it Dark Erotica. There was nothing romantic or erotic about this story.

”You live in a fairytale, princess, and I’m about to destroy it.

This is the story of Nila and Jethro. Weaver and Hawk. Debtor and debtee.

”The time is nigh to pay your debts. Your past has found you, and there will be no peace until she’s ours.

Nila Weaver is a 24-year-old fashion designer. Her social life is limited to her twin brother, Vaughn, and her father, who insist on sheltering her from everything in the outside world. But then Jethro Hawk comes...and changes everything.

Jethro Hawk is the 29-year-old heir of a very powerful family, in the diamond business. Jethro has now come of age to get the family inheritance. And more importantly, he has come of age to collect his debt and claim what has always been his: Nila Weaver.

There was a debt to be paid. And I was the method of extraction. Plain and simple. I’m a Hawk. She’s a Weaver. That was all I needed to know.

Nila was a little annoying at first, with all her childish whining and constant complaining about not being able to date because of her brother and father. I mean, WTF woman, you are 24 years old!

Plus, if I read the word "VERTIGO" one more time, I would probably lose my shit! We get it! You have vertigo, okay!

But after her meta-morphosis from "Naughty nun" to "Needle"...*giggles*... she became a very likable female character! I loved the way she stood up for herself against these vile men, that try to beat her down. She is a fighter and is definitely tougher than she seems.

You better watch out Jethro, you asshole !

I have one word to describe Jethro: terrifying. He is cruel and ruthless, unaffected by other people's emotions. He has no sense of humanity, empathy or right in him. I don't think there is anything redeemable with him. He is a true monster.

Oh yes, I would enjoy ruining Nila, because I liked breaking things.

”Be afraid of me, Ms. Weaver. Be afraid because your life is now mine and I’m the master of everything that happens to you.

The things he did to Nila... They are unacceptable and unforgivable.

I wanted to strangle the life out of him throughout the book. I'm not kidding. I hated him and hated his family even more. I wish the worst for these people!

I kept waiting to see the "light" in Jethro, shadowed by the dark, but it never came. He simply has no light in him. Only dark.

She had to learn that the day granted hope and happiness, but I stole it. She had to face that the night hid evil and darkness, but my soul was blacker.

Best thing about the book was the mysterious "Kite007". His sexting messages were GOLDEN! Seriously, I loved it! Even when he went full asshole, it didn't bother me. But who is he really? Is he in any way related to the Hawk family? Can he be the "hero" Nila desperately needs?

I think

I can't believe all this stuff in the story happened in a little over a 24 hour span! This was a good introduction to one of the darkest series I've ever read. I didn't love it, obviously, but I am still intrigued with the originality of the plot. sure knows how to produce complex storylines!

I am really curious and have a million questions about Bryan, Daniel and Kestrel Hawk, along with all their "men". Also about the Hawk sister. Oh and also about Nila's mother. Also about Kite. Oh, oh, I almost forgot about the whole debt mess! Ehm...I really need answers...ASAP!

And the cliffhanger... Waiting will be torture.

DAMMIT I NEED THE 2ND BOOK...NOW!

Debts are mounting. Payment waiting

If you are in the kind of mood that makes you think:

...then, GO FOR IT, it's the perfect book for you right now.

MY RATING ☆☆☆☆ STARS: Debt Inheritance (Indebted, #1)
by Pepper Winters

Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review
~ THANK YOU ~

The Queen of Kidnapping strikes back at it's best!!

A MODERN DAY DARK TWISTED EROTIC ROMANCE

Holy Shit this book surprised me on so many levels, it's dark, it's gritty,it's twisted, it's raw, it's filthy, it's sexy, it's intense, and it keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat in Pepper fashion like so many past books have, this book is no exception!!

A DEBT

What more can I say other than --> I freaking LOVED it!!

Nila Weaver ~ One mistake six hundred years ago put a curse on her entire family. That one mistake sold her life to me in a mountain of un-payable debt. I Inherited her..

Every first born Weaver girl had a stain upon her life..

Jethro Hawk ~ Men like me morphed into predators in sheeps clothing

Nila Weaver ~ I was a possession, a possession to trade, my life was never mine, my destiny was already written..I'm alone, I'm being stolen for a debt only I can repay. A debt I know nothing about..

I'M NEEDLE AND I WILL SURVIVE

"Be afraid of me, Ms Weaver. Be afraid because your life is now mine and I'm the master of everything that happens to you. But know this..it's not just me you'll have to fear."

SON OF SATAN

Make him care, make him feel

"I'd been brought up.... believing I was unique, different, never before created. Turned out, I was never an individual; I was a possession to trade. I was never unique....never free, never whole."

Jethro Hawk I was a rule-breaker, curse-maker, life-stealer

This story is definitely not suitable for readers who shy away from the dark, gritty, twisted as fuck stories, because if your after a love story you won't be finding one here!! You have been warned!!

That was messed up...

Damn...I don't even know where to start. I guess I won't go into a big ole detailed plot review since there are plenty already on here since this one's been out for a good while already.. but I'll say this shit was fucked up. Really fucked up. I went in totally expecting Jethro to be the jerk of epic proportions and I was not disappointed. But he was passed being a douche. Jethro is just.. Crazy, sinister, creepy, unsympathetic , uncaring... there is nothing even anti-hero about him. He appears to not have one single redeeming quality throughout the majority of this book. Until close to the end.. when I saw a possible glimpse that beyond the layers and layers for fucked up.. there might be a kernel of something.. something somewhere deep inside him. Just enough of a teeny spark...

And Nila.. I really like Nila. On the outside she appears to be shy and timid although she is very successful.. but inside she struggles with who she is. She's unsure of herself yet there is a fire in there that struggles to come out. When faced with the ultimate degrading and sinister situations she manages not to fall apart. There is strength in her and she is definitely going to need it where Jethro and his crazy ass psycho family are concerned...

This was definitely not a romance by any means....there were so many completely messed up situations that I spent a huge part of this book like

Even though I think the whole "debt" thing that she is being forced to pay and all of the other Weaver women that had to pay it before her just makes not since..there is NO way that that would have continued on as long as it had.... It just does not make a lick of sense that it could still be going on after hundreds of years. But I'll suspend my disbelief on that part of the story since I'm really looking forward to seeing if and how Nila is able to bring Jethro to his knees...

This is a another unique and twisted story from Pepper Winters that will mess with your head and keep you begging for more! For those that don't like to wait around for the next in a series, be forewarned that this book is not a stand-alone. I'm sure this was disclosed, but I managed to miss that somehow. There is a cliffhanger ending and many questions left unanswered. So, if that will drive you crazy then you may want to hold off on starting this series.

The first born Weaver girl, Nila Weaver is taken by Jethro Hawk in payment for a centuries old "debt", as has been the practice for multiple generations. What Nila's ancestors did to incur such a debt remains unknown, but was an offense heinous enough to be punishable by death. The arrangement between the two families is centuries old and was provided as a never-ending, alternative punishment, in lieu of death for the ancestors that committed the unknown crime. Not really believable, but it makes for an intriguing storyline.

While Nila is naive and inexperienced, Jethro is the epitome of evil. He is a grade-A asshole with no interest in Nila other than to debase and abuse her until she dies. He owns her now and will do with her as he pleases, as will other Hawk men, until she no longer pleases them or until they kill their new toy. Like I said...twisted.

This book focused heavily on character development and laying the groundwork for the story that will unfold in subsequent books in the series. This book ends just as the story begins to warm up, leaving the reader on the edge of their seat, dying to know what happens. A lot of foreplay and no sex. A lot of foreshadowing things to come, but not delivered in this book, etc. This book was definitely a page turner but was also very frustrating! I cannot wait for the next book to be released! I will devour it the moment it is released.

This wasn't romance. Just torture and cruelty.
I love dark romance, but there was no romance in this, like I said, just fucking torture.
