3.5/5.0

Light, surface, FUN!

I would have rounded up to a 4 star if not for a few absolutely nonsensical decisions Kaylina made (getting in the carriage with Isla for THAT reason?!? Really??) But the story is still just so much fun to read! It’s humorous, engaging and the characters are thoroughly intriguing. So even though the stars show the contextual problems that keep the writing on a purely surface level, the actual experience is still awfully enjoyable.

Entertaining fantasy listening ✨🎎🎉😆

This kindle e-book novel is from my Kindle Unlimited account book three of four

Another great story by Lindsay Buroker in the series. Lots of interesting characters with the two main characters in romantic relationship. The action is fast and furious leading to more action, misdirection, and violence. Looking forward to book four.

I would recommend this series and author to readers of romantic family and friends relationships fantasy world 🌎 adventure novels 📯😃 2024 👒🤔🤗

Kaylina and Vlerion. Hmmm... Slow burn? More like "snail's pace". This is sooooooo drawn out it took me a little time to get through it. Physical attraction between main characters is developing but the main female character is soooo "stupid" it's unbelievable. Any smart guy would have dumped her a long time ago but the main male character cannot because of his innate attraction, go figure. She gets herself in trouble EVERY DAY. She goes from one kidnapping attempt to another, EVERY DAY. She recovers from one stupid move (all on her own part because she just walks into these scenarios like an idiot) and then another kidnapping happens where someone wants to get rid of her or kill her.
Kaylina is one of the most immature and slow witted female characters I've read in a long time. You would think her exploits and mistakes would bring her some wisdom in future choices, but NOPE. On she goes making the same stupid mistakes again.
Kaylina is not a teenager, but a mature 20+ something that needs to grow up in order to become the main heroine needed in this series. To find how to lift Vlerion's curse so they can have an HEA, she needs to grow up fast.
IMO - book 3 does not propel the story whatsoever and one stupid kidnapping is plenty for a smart heroine to decide she doesn't want that to ever happen again.

Sentinel of Time is the third book in The Curse and the Crown series and I loved it! There are assassins out to get Kaylina, and all she really wants to do is have a successful opening night for the meadery she and her brother Frayvar are trying to open. The food and drink are under control, now she just has to hope that the castle doesn’t kill anyone.

I love this author’s works and this book is no exception. The banter is witty, the heroine is smart, and the hero is strong but likeable. Kaylina and Lord Vlerion are still dancing around their attraction to each other, fearful of triggering his shift to the dreaded beast, but I love them together and I have faith that things will work out. My only complaints are that I read it too quickly and that there’s only one book left in the series. I’d happily keep reading the series as long as the author kept writing it. I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to see what happens next!

This is a marvelous continuation of what will be a four-part series by Lindsay Buroker! She is a vibrant and witty author who writes marvelous adventures with strong characters, female and otherwise! I highly recommend this series that has inspired me to read each of the existing 3 parts multiple times and enjoyed it immensely each time! The characters in this novel, even ones we haven't met yet, are intriguing and holders of secrets yet to be revealed! I'm eagerly awaiting the fourth novel, "Scions of Change" that will answer all the lingering mysteries! Can Kaylina remove the terrible curse that endangers Vlerion? Will Vlerion meet the challenges given to him by the Daygarii Druids to end the danger to nature that humanity once presented and could still do? Will the chaos and rebellion in the Kingdom be settled and peace restored? Will the cursed castle be released from the murderous anger that has plagued Port Jirador for centuries? I can't wait to find out!

I feel like I have to write a review because I’m giving all these books 4 stars, which I do feel like is slightly high. I want to completely love everything about these books but I have a few hangups. I LOVE the plot, I mostly like the characters (some of the banter seems childish but I can look past it). I think the thing annoying me most is that every 5 seconds we’re reminded about the beast. They look at each other and Kaylina thinks about the beast, they hold hands and she hopes it’s not too tempting for the beast. I get that they’re attracted to each other and it’s a powerful pull but really? We get it already, this is the 3rd book lol. But with all of that being said, I really am enjoying the story. Hopefully this doesn’t sound harsh because I DEFINITELY think this is worth reading but just keep in mind there’s probably some heavy eye roll moments. Looking forward to the 4th book and I don’t recommend passing on this series!

Kaylina is trying to focus on opening her Meadery while worrying about her sister coming to visit (check up on her) as well as thwarting kidnappers after her and assassins after Vlerion.
She also is trying to learn about her druid background, where it came from and what she can do with it. Hopefully if she can learn more, she can remove the curse on Vlerion and they can finally be together.
This book has a fair amount of action, a lot of learning about Kaylina, wonderful humourous interactions between the characters.
As per a lot of Lindsay Burokers books, the heroine always gets in trouble, some she can get out of by herself, most with the help of the main male character.
The attraction Kayline has for all animals is entertaining to say the least.
This is a fun, quick, enjoyable read that is hard to review for me without giving things away. But it is a book and series that I highly recommend.

Kaylina, is the most stupid TSTL character…the story has repetitive statements that are no longer funny, now it just annoying after 3 books of same things happening…character is suppose to be 20+ years old but has the maturity of a 16 year old…wants to be a mead maker but leaves her grand opening to get in the carriage with the woman you wants her to leave…even knowing her son is obsessed with her.she also know the spymaster is the one to hire the assassins but yet her she goes traipsing off with someone who is not capable of handling him..Kaylina is just plain stupid…spending her time running about versus learning about her Druid history and the plant is the only thing that has given her any information but yet does not ask it to teach her instead she runs around half cocked…I have loved Lindsay’s characters in the past but this one is made up of all the worst elements possible. This rating is painful for me since this is the first 1 star I have even given for LB books.

I love this series, Poor Vlerion and Kaylina, in love and unable to act on it. Kaylina learns a lot about herself, the Daylii, who her father is and her sister turns up too. Most of the action centres on the fact that Vlerion's mother spends most of the book trying to get rid of her, while the spy master Sabor is up to no good as well. It moves the story forward nicely and even the meadery, is finally open. She is barely aware of that part of her life these days however. There are much more interesting distractions to dwell on.

Dive in and lose yourself in the world of Kaylina and co, you won't regret it.

I just am not seeing any movement in the story. Basically, this one just let Kaylina get kidnapped a few times, try to use a sword she isn't trained for, rush around and do some really stupid things, walk away from the Grand Opening she has put everything in to (ha), and lust after Vlerion. OH yes, and he changes into a beast a few times to stop the kidnappers but keeps getting sidetracked with lust for her. I skimmed about half of this trying to get to something other than how manly his chest is. I might have to read the next book just to finish the series, but I seriously hope it has a bit more to it than them running from kissing scene to kissing scene.

Plots and assassins

Kaylina and Vlerion can’t catch a break.

On the verge of another grand opening of the meadery, magically enhanced assassins target Vlerion. There are kidnapping attempts against Kaylina, and the masterminded behind some is unexpected.

Bigger plots are afoot. But with her burgeoning Druid powers, Kaylina can help Vlerion against his foes.

I’m ready for the curse to be broken because the tension between these two is thick enough to require a chainsaw to cut it.

It went by too fast

I read this way too quickly. I just couldn't stop myself! Everything about this book is just fantastic and I find myself skipping sleep to continue on to the next chapter. I'm so glad the relationship is progressing and the kidnapping and assassination attempts are wrapped up but man I'm getting nervous. There's only one book left and we're no closer to learning how to break the curse than book one. I just don't want there to be this huge rush to finish in the final book. Otherwise I absolutely cannot wait for book 4. It needs to be released sooner!

As usual it's outstanding

It is always wonderful to have the honor of reading a Buroker series. For me, it has a feeling of coming come. There's a comfort in knowing I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the story and her unique style of writing.
This series is intensely satisfying in the categories of humor, adventure, and love. It has shades of beauty and the beast, if Belle was an adventurous plant, animal and sword weilding adventurer who also makes outstanding mead. But Kaylina is so much more.
This series is most definitely worth your time. It is a wonderfully good read.

Kaylina and her brother can’t wait to open their Meadery but kidnappers get in the way of their plans. More than one group is after Kaylina for her druid powers but also as bait for Lord Vlerion, her proclaimed mate. Not everyone knows his secret but those who do want to use him for their own purposes. Dodging assassins, business competitors and kidnappers won’t sway Kaylina from her cause, which is to prove she has the mettle to run her own business and to lift the curse keeping her and Vlerion apart. Another action-filled story from one of my favorite fantasy/sci-fi authors!

The adventure continues with the appearance of kidnappers and a secret plot. What is it they really want?

All in is all a fun story. My one criticized is the sexual innuendo and banter get a but anoyying. Inunderstand our two pain characters want to be together bht cant be, that's a given. You don't need to state it all the time. It might also be the more modern language used when it comes to talking about it. It's a bit at odds with the slightly more historical setting.

But all in all, a fun read.

Another lost day reading.

Lindsay Buroker is one of my favorite authors. Once I start a book of hers I can't put it down. The Curse and the Crown series is an excellent tale. All three are funny, action packed and the love story keeps the reader on their toes as to when will the main characters get together. I am glad I only have to wait till November 30th get the final book. Buroker 's romance/fantasy always leave me feeling uplifted.

Another great book

Lindsay Buroker is just awesome in my opinion. Her books and her heroine characters are a true enjoyment to read. Her novels that I have read and I think I'm pretty close to having read all of them, are just wonderfully done. I'm looking forward to the fourth book of this series... I do hope that the heroines in all of the series continue to other adventures. I so love the intertwined characters in some of the series. Great job Lindsay!!

Excellent as expected!

Ms. Buroker always delivers excellent stories that compel you to be waiting anxiously for the next book or perhaps one more at the conclusion of a series. The action, romance and compelling characters always keep your interest without losing you. She remains one of my favorite authors and I always keep her next book in my wishlist, so that I am reminded when it comes out to continue the journey.

I am enjoying the books in this series. The characters have an engaging line in banter; the premises of cursed magic & Druid magic, mixed with Mead production, fine dining, political scheming and other general skullduggery is excellent. An open mind, with a suspension of belief greatly aids enjoyment! Looking forward to the next book.

Sparky Heroine, Honorable Hero, Killer Plant

What could possibly go wrong in a cursed castle with a mind of its own killer plant, kidnapping or assassination attempts and doomed love? I love the banter between Vlerion and Kaylina, and Kaylina with everyone else. The Taybarri are delightful too. I am hoping for a romantic forevermore ending in book 4.

Survival depends on knowledge of past secrets.

I love how the unknown elements are beginning to unfold. Mysteries of the past and hidden powerful skills reveal secrets to help survive a crisis but more knowledge is needed to acheive the long term goal. This series gets better with each book. Can't wait for the next book to come out.

So creative and exciting

Love her creative mind! Her stories are always interesting, action, suspense, loyalty, love and honor. Vlerion and Kaylina are excellent characters and I can’t wait to see how this take on beauty & the beast works out. Realistic actions, consequences and strong men & women. Also great humor & dialogue.

another great and enjoyable story

i have enjoyed this set of books. there has been a lot of banter to keep the story of death, kidnapping and spying 🕵 each book has a story but there is a story running through them all. i liked the magic secrets that unfold and the well rounded characters. Looking forward to the last book

the tension !!!! from the sword fights, to the lovers, to the shadowed plant.

This book will keep you on the end of your seat- chewing your nails during the fretful fights, fanning yourself in the face of the steamy shirtless tension, and questioning if the potted plant is good or bad.

Of the 3 books, so far this is my least favorite. There wasn't a lot of additional information brought to light and there were way too many kidnapping/assassination/bribery attempts to make it feel realistic to me. I'm still looking forward to the 4th book and luckily these are super fast reads so even though it was slower than the first two, it still paces well.

Wow. Just.....wow.

The downside of being a fast reader; I read it in one day. The 4th and final story in the series is already preordered (11/30/2024).

This was the one book I was waiting for in Oct! Now what??!!!

Lindsay Broker finds always ways to write funny, compelling characters. I do not always like some of them, or the events that happen, but I always enjoy the whole book.
The art of being capable of writing with humour about dramatic events, it's admirable.
