The Noel Bridge by Jenny Hale
Holiday Christian romance. Magical realism. Closed door.
Alicia Silver knows the old bridge in the Smoky Mountains is not magic but being back in Noel has changed her all the same.
Leo Whitaker’s father has wandered off into the woods with the beginning stages of Dementia. His father is an experienced outdoorsman, but the weather is getting worse and its been days. It’s snowing and searchers aren’t having any luck. Leo can only worry as the days slip by. He bumps into Alicia on the bridge, both knowing that a miracle wish is unlikely but it’s the Christmas season and hope and companionship is something they can hold onto.

🎧 I listened to an audiobook version of this story narrated by Emma Love. The reader can easily hear Alicia’s sadness and Leo’s desperation in the narration. The story flows smoothly from Emma’s feelings of loss to her looking deeper and then meeting Leo, a stranger, who allows her to think outside herself. We follow her renewed feelings of life and reengaging with old friends.
The performance is wonderfully engaging, romantic, hopeful and filled with faith.
I listened at a speed of 1.5 which more closely matches my reading and conversational comfort.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and Dreamscape Select.

❄️I fell in love with the characters and the heartwarming holiday romance set in the snowy Smoky Mountains.

❄️The story follows Alicia Silver, who is spending her first Christmas without her fiancé, and Leo Whitaker, who is searching for his missing father.

❄️Both find themselves drawn to a covered bridge believed to have healing powers.

❄️Alicia and Leo's heartfelt connection and their journeys of healing and finding hope amidst the magic of the holiday season, create a beautiful narrative. The covered bridge with its belief in healing powers adds a whimsical touch that ties everything together.

❄️Jenny Hale's storytelling is captivating. She seamlessly weaves the magic of the holiday season with themes of love and hope. The story beautifully illustrates the power of healing and the importance of being open to new beginnings. Even amidst heartbreak and uncertainty, love and hope can find their way back into our lives, often in unexpected ways. Plus, it reminds us that the magic of the holiday season can bring about personal transformation and renewal.

Jenny Hale captures the warmth of the holiday season in The Noel Bridge. Hale creates such a heartwarming story centered around Alicia, a nurse, who has lost the love of her life, Bo, in an accident and her journey in finding peace. At the suggestion of her supervisor, Alicia takes time off to rest and heads to Noel, Tennessee where she grew up. The author creates the loveliest of small towns and Noel has a bridge said to have magical powers for those who make a wish. Alicia is hoping to hear Bo’s voice once again so he can help her to move forward. Stranded in Noel by a snowstorm Alicia reconnects with a childhood friend.

I don’t want to give away too much of this heartfelt story but if you love inspirational stories set in a small town you definitely don’t want to miss this one.

Thank you Jenny Hale and Harpeth Road for the early copy of The Noel Bridge.

Alicia is a nurse who is grief stricken by the sudden death of her fiancé, Bo, due to a car accident. What is keeping her going is her job! When Alicia was watching the local news, there was a report on the Noel Bridge in Noel, Tennessee, that was known for its miracles. Alicia is familiar with this bridge as she grew up near it and experienced the miracles/luck the bridge provided! What pushed her to go was a woman who claimed she heard her dead husband talking. If only she could hear Bo’s voice again. What will she discover when she reaches the bridge? Will it be life-changing?

A heartfelt and entertaining read that brings out so many emotions, but leaves you feeling hopeful and happy in the end! I love how Jenny Hale writes books that have relatable characters that leave you feeling satisfied! This book checks all the boxes for a great Christmas Read! So be sure to add this book to your TBR list!

Thanks to Jenny Hale and Harpeth Road Press for the gifted copy!

Leave it to Jenny Hale to bring us a heartwarming and emotional tale that captures the true meaning of Christmas.

They say there’s a covered bridge that heals the sick and mends the broken. Actual miracles have happened within its green clapboard protective shell. When Alicia Silver faces spending her first Christmas without her fiancé, she knows that the only way she can manage through the season is if she has a little divine intervention. So she heads to the snowy Smoky Mountains to visit that bridge, hoping to reach her fiancé somehow.
But she isn’t expecting to encounter Leo Whitaker when she gets there. He, too, is looking for answers. His father is missing. He hasn’t seen even a trace of him in five days, and with the snowstorm, every day he can’t find him the situation becomes more dire.
Under the sparkle of holiday lights and swags of greenery, the two must face the answers they’re given. Will the bridge be their Christmas miracle? Or will it uncover more than it covers this holiday?

This one is obviously a powerful story about grief but it’s also a second chance story of both life and love. It reminds us of how fragile life can be but also how those who love us will always pick us back up and remind us how cherished we are. While it’s sad, happy and every other emotion all wrapped in one, this is a very beautiful story that should be read and enjoyed this holiday season.

I also highly recommend the audio as you can HEAR the emotion of the characters in the amazing narrators voice.

"The Noel Bridge" by Jenny Hale is truly heartwarming. This reminds me of the feeling I get from reading Nicholas Sparks books.

In this one, the story starts with the main character, Alicia Silver, grieving the loss of her fiancé, Bo. When stories about the bridge in her hometown start spreading, she decides to go back to visit. The Noel bridge is said to grant wishes, and she decides to go see if her deceased partner's spirit will talk to her. Really, she wants to start to feel human and whole again.

Alicia meets diner owner Leo Whitaker, and they feel like they've known each other forever. We find out his father has been missing for several days. Her childhood best friend, Evelyn, still lives there, and they reconnect. They both help search for Leo's missing father.

I easily felt Alicia's grief and hope. The story is so very well written that I really enjoyed it! I was inspired and uplifted by the end of this one! I highly recommend it!!

Alicia, stricken by grief after the untimely passing of her fiancé, decides to return to the town she once lived in to visit the bridge that supposedly grants wishes.

The Noel Bridge was an alright read for me, but I didn't fully love it. Probably because I am not the intended audience. Going in I had expected a tale of magical realism, but instead the 'magic' in the book got attributed by its characters to a (Christian idea of) God. Since I myself have no connection to this idea this didn't really work for me. On top of that I like a bit more tension and less predictability than this story was giving me.

However I know many people read for comfort, and that is what you will surely find in this small town romance novel. If you enjoy the setting of Virgin River, but would like to read something with lower stakes I would recommend checking out The Noel Bridge.

What I enjoyed most about this novel is how Hale palpably captures the feeling of the first Christmas after a loved one passing.

“But that was how grief worked. It clouded her brain like a dense fog at times. Making her disregard the fact the world continued to go on.

Over the course of the story we see Alicia realistically navigating and moving through her grief for her fiancé. Though I would have liked a bit more depth to the romance.

Now onto the narration for the audiobook. The narrator has a pleasant timbre with a Southern US accent. This matches the cozy vibes perfectly. The only gripes I have is that I would have preferred the voices to be a bit more distinct.

Thank you Dreamscape Select and Jenny Hale for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

The Noel Bridge is a heartwarming story that beautifully captures the spirit of the holidays while exploring the depths of love and loss. Alicia Silver returns to her hometown for her first Christmas without her fiancé, seeking solace at the town's covered bridge, known for healing broken hearts and delivering miracles. There, she meets Leo Whitaker, who is anxiously awaiting news about his father, who has been missing for five days amid an impending snowstorm.

What truly resonated with me was how naturally Alicia and Leo’s relationship developed. Their connection felt authentic as they navigated personal grief and found comfort in each other. Their bond grew from tentative strangers to two people deeply invested in one another, and their shared experiences brought depth to their connection. The townsfolk played a vital role, rallying around both Alicia and Leo during their challenging times. Their support created a sense of warmth and community that added to the overall magic of the season.

The holiday spirit shines through on every page, with the covered bridge serving as a lovely symbol of hope and healing. The Noel Bridge is a touching reminder of the power of love, second chances, and the comfort that can be found in both new relationships and close-knit communities. It truly captures the heart of the season, like a Christmas gift wrapped in a bow.

The Noel Bridge
Author: Jenny Hale
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Publication Date: Oct. 15, 2024

Not every book I review has to be on the top 100 books of 2024 to get a 5-star rating from me. The Noel Bridge is a sentimental story about loss, working through grief, dreading Christmas, and deciding to take a personal journey to a time when happiness was the norm. Alicia returns to her hometown; she remembers the legend of the Noel Bridge, where wishes made can come true. So begins her journey, and her world is set to rights. When you suffer a significant loss, it seems like the sun will never shine again. This book takes a tender topic, simply told, and weaves it into a magical Christmas tale.

I've known a lot of people over the last few years that have lost a close friend or loved one. For those that are grieving or have been through this kind of loss, this is a book about finding that space in between and learning that it's ok to carry that loss and find happiness again at the same time.

This book is about a young woman grieving the loss of her fiancé that was the love of her life. She's struggling to continue moving forward and expectedly so, she's a mess. A program on TV highlights a special bridge from her small hometown that appears to be granting wishes for those that visit. Packing her bags, she quickly return to her childhood hometown to see if she can hear the voice of her fiancé one last time.

But the Christmas Spirit has some other things in mind for her. Firstly, reconnecting with old friends, meeting new people in the wintry small town and remembering why she must keep moving forward. Loss is hard and can create dark times for anyone, but this book provides that glimmer of Christmas hope where anything can happen and sometimes we find something even more precious to us in that search for answers.

Jenny Hale does a wonderful job weaving these themes together in a way that's relatable and inspiring. Even if you're not a huge fan of Christmas novels, this one isn't overly draped in Christmas cheer, it's more about the spirit of the holidays and the birth of something new. I loved the heartfelt messages throughout the story and found the characters to be able to carry this message without a miss in their step. A lovely read this holiday season!

WOW!!! I just LOVED this one!!!

Alicia is a nurse. She is looking for some answers after her fiance (Beau) dies...and she can't seem to find them anywhere. Her parents are in Florida, soaking up some of the sun's rays. And she just feels totally alone...
Hoping to connect with her love, she decides to go back to her small, hometown, with the fabled covered bridge, that has been known to grant wishes...among other things... But, what exactly can she wish for? She KNOWS that Beau is gone...

And so, she is told to take some time off from work, and she decides to go back to her hometown of Noel (How sweet is the name?? !!) But, the weather is awful. The snow is drifting. But she needs to get to the bridge. Maybe she'll be able to speak to him? Hear him? Maybe he can guide her as to how to get on with her life??? She doesn't know, but it's worth a shot.

She stops at a diner as she enters town, as she sees the lights are still on and she's starving. But, as she approaches the door, the lights go out...

OK...I'm stopping here! If you want to read more of this charming, Christmas-y, small town vibe, sweet book, you'll have to pick it up!

5++ big, beautiful, bright Christmas Stars ✨✨✨✨✨⭐️⭐️⭐ for me!!!

The Noel Bridge
Jenny Hale

Noel, Tennessee is located near the Smoky Mountains. Legend is there is a covered bridge that grants miracles. People come from near and far to ask for their hopes and wishes. Are they miracles or coincidences.
Alicia Silver is a nurse in Savannah. Nine months ago, she lost her fiancé. She was devasted and still mourning his loss. She saw a news report on television about the covered bridge in Noel. She was born in Noel but moved when she was a teen. She still remembered going to the bridge and begging not to move. Her life has come to a lonely stand still. She decided to return to Noel and once again beg the bridge for a miracle. She wants to hear her fiancé’s voice just one more time.
She arrives in Noel late in the evening. She meets Leo Whitaker when she stops at a diner for dinner. There is a connection. Later when she visits the bridge, she once again encounters Leo. His father is missing; he has come to the bridge to ask that his father be found. A snowstorm cancels Alicia’s return flight. She spends time with Leo; they grow closer.
This is a beautiful Christmas tale; it would make a delightful Hallmark movie. Emma Love did an excellent job narrating the audiobook. The bridge is associated with faith in God. I understand the connection, but God isn’t a bridge, and a bridge doesn’t grant miracles or wishes. Author Jenny Hale successfully demonstrates the pain of grief. In this tale Alicia navigated through her grief. Alicia is a tender-hearted soul. She is also very intelligent, organized and caring. Leo is the owner of the diner. He loves his father, who has early stages of dementia. The plot of this book was heartwarming. I listened to it in one sitting. I highly recommend The Noel Bridge.

Alicia Silver loves Christmas but this year is different and she isn’t looking forward to it. It’s her first Christmas without her fiancé Bo, and alone is not how she wants to spend it. She lost Bo in a car accident and navigating life alone is daunting. But this Christmas, her friends convince her to go to Tennessee. It is believed that there is a bridge in the great Smoky Mountains, that heals the sick and the broken. When she arrives at the bridge, she meets Leo Whitaker. His father has dementia and has gone missing. Leo is desperate to find his father with a looming snowstorm. They quickly find that they need each other, Leo needs her help to find his father and Alicia needs Leo’s help to heal her broken heart. Will they get the Christmas miracle they need and deserve, or will she be heading back home even more broken?

The Noel Bridge, written by author Jenny Hale is a phenomenal story of family, friends, healing and new beginnings. I am forever changed by this amazing book. This unputdownable story had me flying through the pages like a snowflake falling from the sky. This is a “read in one sitting book that I didn’t want to end. I had to re-read this book because I wanted to stay lost in the story. Jenny Hale, the Queen of Christmas, absolutely left me in awe with the plot of this book. This would make a fantastic book to movie and definitely an award winner. This one has stirred up my Christmas spirit and I am now ready to put up the tree and hang the twinkle lights. Do not wait another second, read this book now. And with only a few more weeks til Christmas, this book would make the perfect gift for yourself, family and friends. I highly recommend this ten star read, I loved it.

First, I want to thank Jenny Hale and Harpeth Road Press for providing me with this book so I may bring you with this review.

The Noel Bridge is my favorite Christmas Story that Jenny Hale has written. It is a beautifully written story that will give you all the feels and thensome. Not to mention it will put love in your heart and an everlasting smile on your face! It is one that you will want to put on your tbr list.

Kristen Ingebretson did a fantastic job with the cover design. It is so picturesque and represents The Noel Bridge so perfectly.

I loved that Alicia’s job was a nurse in Orthopedics and that she was a natural nurturer. A great quality to have and one of many reasons I really enjoyed this character.

My heart broke for the loss of Alicia’s fiancé Bo and all the heartache it had caused her.

The Noel Bridge reads like a Hallmark Christmas Movie in my head. I felt like this book had something for everyone to enjoy from heading home to where you grew up, making wishes on a special bridge, locating a missing person, a little romance, finding yourself in the process.

The Noel Bridge was set around Christmas time and there were definitely some devine miracles that came about. There were some very sweet bonding moments between some of the characters that will make you smile ear to ear. It is for sure a feel good book.

I loved how special this bridge was and how people would come to make wishes and they would come true. We saw this time and time again come true in the book. But also how spirits one in particular guided two special people together that were meant for eachother.

This is also a book about letting go of the past and following your heart to what you truly want, need and deserve in life.

The Noel Bridge is a heartfelt holiday story by Jenny Hale. Alicia Silver has spent the better part of a year working herself to a frazzle. It is the only way she has found to cope with the untimely death of her fiancé. As the holidays approach, Alicia’s supervisor insists she take a few weeks off to recharge. Instead of sitting around in a joyless condo in Savannah, Alicia decides to journey to her hometown of Noel, Tennessee, where the legend of the Noel Bridge has once again made waves on the news. Troubled souls have reported connecting with their lost loved ones at the bridge. Perhaps Alicia will be able to find closure at the bridge.

On her first night in Noel, Alicia arrives a bit later due to snow and is pleased to see the open sign still on at the diner. But as she gets to the door the sign goes off. Just in case, Alicia knocks loudly and the door opens slowly by Leo Whitaker, the diner’s owner, who takes pity on Alicia, sharing his meal with her

On her first trip the bridge on a cold snowy day, Alicia hears a phrase often uttered by her fiancé and the dark form of an approaching man in the bridge. Feelings are jumbled as Alicia moves from elation that maybe her fiancé is there to distress when she determines it is the diner owner with wishes of his own. Together perhaps they could make their wishes come true.

This is a truly lovely holiday offering by a seasoned author. It touches the heart and opens the mind to the possibility of what if. With well drawn characters in a winter wonderland setting, Ms. Hale has once again penned a beautiful Christmas story. I very much enjoyed this book and I very much recommend it!

"The Noel Bridge" by Jenny Hale is a tender and heartwarming holiday romance that beautifully blends themes of love, loss, and the possibility of miracles. The story follows Alicia Silver, who, still reeling from the death of her fiancé, embarks on a journey to the Smoky Mountains in search of healing. She’s drawn to the legend of a covered bridge said to have miraculous powers. At the same time, Leo Whitaker is grappling with the disappearance of his father. As they both seek answers, their paths cross in a small town decked out in holiday cheer, and they begin to wonder if the bridge will offer the miracles they each hope for—or perhaps something even more unexpected.

Narrated by Emma Love, the audiobook brings extra warmth and emotional depth to the story. Her soothing and expressive voice perfectly captures the cozy, small-town holiday atmosphere, while also conveying the characters emotions, from Alicia’s grief to the blossoming connection between her and Leo. Love’s narration adds richness to the storytelling, making it an immersive listening experience.

Overall, "The Noel Bridge" is a touching and festive read. Its mix of romance, healing, and the belief in second chances, wrapped in a snowy Christmas setting, will resonate with fans of authors like Debbie Macomber and Sheila Roberts. If you’re looking for a cozy, feel-good holiday romance with a touch of magic, this book is a delightful choice for the season.
