Welcome to Formula International, where legends are born and speed is king. From New York Times Bestselling Author Sawyer Bennett comes the Race Fever series, set within the fast-paced and dangerous world of formula racing.
Posey Evans is looking to take her career as a romance author to the next level, shifting from historical love stories to writing about the high stakes world of formula racing. Wanting to immerse herself in the sport, Posey manages to secure full access to the Crown Velocity Racing team by faking credentials as a journalist. When she’s granted unlimited face-to-face time with one of the teams best drivers, Posey is equal parts elated and terrified because while she’s getting exactly what she wants, she can’t afford to have her secret exposed.
Lex Hamilton lives for the thrill of being one of the fastest and most decorated race car drivers in the sport. When he’s behind the wheel, he’s focused on one thing and one thing only—earning top spot on the podium. But off the track? Let’s just say his extracurricular activities have put him on a very short leash with the team management at Crown Velocity. He’s cocky, handsome, dripping with swagger, and not super happy to have what he considers a babysitter following his every move. Lex’s unwillingness to help doesn’t deter Posey but when he uncovers her secret, they strike a deal—he won’t reveal her truth if she helps him stay out of trouble and keep his job.
While many women would swoon at his feet, Posey isn’t interested in anything more than Lex’s racing knowledge. Mostly. As the season inches closer and passions ignite, time at the track leads to time in the bed. Having agreed there is an expiration date on their arrangement, what started as an assignment has the potential to go the distance as their physical relationship builds into something deeper. But when her secret is revealed, will Lex and Posey’s relationship hit a wall, or will this fling find its way to the checkered flag?

What to Expect: - Formula 1 Racing - Strangers to Lovers - Secret Identity - Opposites Attract - He Falls First - Forced Proximity
Formula Fling was my first read by Sawyer Bennett, and it was a good time. I don't know much about Formula 1 racing, so reading about a new sport was fun. Posey Evans is a romance author looking to change genres and write a Formula 1 romance. So she can learn to walk the walk and talk the talk, she poses as a journalist to gain access to a popular F1 team. Lex Hamilton is the bad boy driver on the Crown Velocity Racing team. He's a great driver but isn't great at managing his image off the track. When Posey is tasked with shadowing Lex to get content for her article, he is initially against this plan. As they spend time together, the dynamic of their relationship changes. A secret is discovered, a deal is made, and lines are crossed.
Formula Fling is definitely a page-turner with an entertaining storyline. I enjoyed the development of Lex and Posey's relationship, and they had amazing chemistry. Lex was not very likable initially, but he experienced some growth throughout the story. There is more to him than the bad boy persona he shows the world. Posey is likable, real, and relatable. I loved the opposites attract dynamic and the contrast between their personalities and lifestyles. Their journey had some ups and downs, but I was satisfied with Lex and Posey's happy ending. This story had the right balance of drama, romance, and steam. I'm so glad this is the first book in a new series, and I can't wait to read more.
Narration: Kit Swann and Sean Masters perform this audiobook in dual-style narration. They bring passion, humor, drama, and chemistry, making it easy to be transported into the author's F1 world. Sean's British accent is a plus! Kit and Sean were the perfect voices for Posey and Lex and brought them to life in the best way. Their performances enhanced my listening experience and enjoyment of the story.
Thanks to Sawyer Bennett, Lyric Audiobooks, and Must Love Audio for the ALC. Opinions expressed are my own.
An exciting new series by Sawyer Brown, and it is a good one! She has started a new series about Formula One (F1) racing. This story has all the ear marks of a Sawyer Bennett read. Posey and Lex have chemistry from the beginning, tried to ignore it, decided to have a fling, and we are guaranteed an HEA. The story was authentic as she has really done her homework on the world of Formula racing and I felt thoroughly immersed in that world. It was a fun exciting read and I’m so looking forward to the next in this series.
This story follows Lex and Posie. Lex, a famous F1 driver, is quite the ladies man with no intentions of settling down anytime soon. Now, he has a shadow following his every move—Posie Evans, a reporter hired to learn the ropes of the F1 world. However, Posie is keeping a big secret. What will happen when the truth comes to light?
I really enjoyed this read. I love how opposite these characters are—Lex with his luxurious lifestyle and Posie, a sweet Southern girl stepping out of her comfort zone yet standing her ground. She has some self-conscious moments, which I loved because it felt so human. I found Posie to be such a lovable character. Lex shows great character growth throughout the story and proves to be surprisingly thoughtful. This book was a good feel-good read, and I especially loved the F1 element since I’m a huge fan. The audiobook is brilliant, so I highly recommend picking it up if you decide to read this!

I was so excited for this one; but it was a miss for me. I listened to the audiobook and I loved the MMC voice, but the FMC voice really annoyed me.
This book just felt like methodical explanation of Formula 1 Racing, with a side of an awkward beyond instalove romance. It was nearly impossible to become invested in their romance because it was so surface level, and then the book just ended.
There are much better F1 Romance books out there to read .
This was a great start to Sawyer Bennett's new series. I love that she is doing a series on Racecar Drivers, which is sadly lacking in sports romances.
Posey Evans is a Romance Author who wants to write a Sports Romance about Racecar Drivers. So she fakes being a Sports Journalist and is granted full access to one of the top drivers of the Crown Velocity Racing team. She has her work cut out for her since she is to shadow Lex Hamilton 24/7; the notorious Playboy has a knack for getting himself in trouble.

Posey is a romance author secretly posing as a journalist in order to get all the insider information she needs for her brand new sports (racing) romance series. Lex is the star racer for Crown Velocity Racing and gets stuck showing Posey around, as they hope having a journalist around will keep him from misbehaving. What starts off as a rocky introduction soon leads to Lex wanting to spend more and more time with Posey. Can the racing bad boy change his stripes?
This was a really fun one! The audio was really well done. Sean and a British accent is like butter for the ears, it was audibly satisfying! He did such a great job at capturing the cheekiness of Lex and all the other characters! This was my first listen of Kit's and she did such an amazing job, especially interchanging so flawlessly between a British and Souther American accent, and she really made you fall in love with Posey as a character. Together they interacted so well, you could feel the chemistry between Lex and Posey and made for such a fun read.
I will admit some accent combinations are fine for reading, but for an audio, is a little jarring and didn't always mesh well.
This was my first book by Sawyer and am looking forward to reading more! I need more racing romances in my life so excited to see where she goes with the rest of this series!

📚 Welcome to the world of Formula International, where speed is king and love takes unexpected turns. Romance author Posey Evans fakes her way into the Crown Velocity Racing team to research her new book but finds herself in the fast lane with Lex Hamilton, a champion driver dripping with swagger and a flair for trouble. Their deal—he keeps her secret, and she keeps him in check—unravels into a passionate connection that defies their expectations. But when truths come to light, will their love reach the finish line?
👨 Posey is a determined, endearing heroine chasing her dreams in the glamorous but cutthroat racing world. Lex exudes confidence on the track and undeniable charm off it. Together, their banter and chemistry are as fast and fiery as the cars Lex drives.
💞 Lex and Posey’s love story sizzles with tension, playful moments, and undeniable attraction. From London nightclubs to late-night confessions, their relationship deepens into something meaningful—my only pet peeve was the third act break-up.
✍️ Sawyer Bennett delivers a page-turning, heart-racing romance that blends high-speed thrills with tender emotional beats. The audiobook narration by Kit Swann and Sean Masters brings Posey and Lex to life with perfection—Kit’s vulnerability and Sean’s British charisma are unforgettable.
🌟 Overall, Formula Fling is a captivating start to the Race Fever series. If you love a romance that balances passion, humor, and heart in a high-stakes setting, this is the book for you.
📲 QOTD: If you could spend a day learning behind-the-scenes secrets of any professional sport, which would you choose? 👇
I'm so happy that F1 romances are getting easier to find! This was fun and fast paced but just a little too insta love-y for my liking. I'll definitely continue with this series as the next books come out.
Formula Fling, book one in Ms. Bennett’s new Race Fever series and we are treated to a unique sports romance story where life and fiction run side by side, but we also get a glimpse into the world of car racing. Posey Evans is a romance writer that is posing as a journalist to get information about the Formula International racing lifestyle to write a new romance book and she is assigned to shadow one of the Crown Velocity’s premier race car drivers. Lex Hamilton is arrogant and definitely a playboy who seems to find himself in trouble with the media. He definitely doesn’t want a journalist following him around, but what he doesn’t expect is to fall for her sass and to fall for her. He finds out her rouse and makes a deal but getting to know each other forces a change to their relationship and neither expects the passion that burns between them. I love a story where the guy who has sworn off relationships falls and falls hard for someone he doesn’t see coming and I love a strong heroine who stands up for herself and gives him a run for his money. Lex and Posey are that and so much more. I am also excited to see what comes next in this new series with this whole new cast of characters. I had the added benefit of listening to the audio version of this book and the narrators did an amazing job that absolutely added to my enjoyment of this story!
Formula Fling- Sawyer Bennett Narrated by Sean Masters and Kit Swann
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 🌶️🌶️ Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
I was excited to start this one. I had read Swayer in the past and really enjoyed her writing. I’ve never read any formula one racing books before though and I even commented before going in that I hope she explains in the book the rules because I have no idea what I’m getting into. Don’t worry, she does. lol in fact, I think this is a fantastic book for anyone who is unfamiliar with formula one and wants to read about it, in a fictional way obviously, because the main female character Posey is a romance author who poses as a journalist who is shadowing the hottest F1 driver to write an article on him, F1, and how to get women interested in the sport. I think the characters journey and research is almost like our own research if you’re unfamiliar, like I was.
I was also ecstatic for this audio because I absolutely love Sean Masters and Kit Swann. They did absolutely fantastic. And Sean with a British accent 🥵🥵🥵 yes please!
My first ever F1 romance!! I loved it and had so much fun with this one. 💖
This was a great foray into a new sport for me, and I loved the forbidden aspect of Lex and Posey’s relationship. She’s the “reporter working to write a positive article to help turn Lex’s public image around, since he’s the team’s bad boy. But as it turns out. She’s not there to write an article 🤫 she wants to get more knowledge around F1 for her spicy romance series that she’s writing. ✍ so what happens when Lex finds out?? The unexpected, that’s what. 😂
This was spicy, and flirty and I loved their banter! I’m excited for more to come with this series!!
The narration for this, performed by Sean Masters and Kit Swann, was so spot on. I loved the accents and the performances both narrators did. They just added to the fun of Lex and Posey’s story! Highly recommend the audio. 😍
I have fairly high hopes for other books in this series, though this particular one didn't *quite* work for me.
What I enjoyed: - a new sport! I have read only a few sports romances that feature car racing, but none of them were (loosely, for trademark reasons) based on Formula One racing - it's set in the author's hockey romances universe (Brienne Norcross has bought a team--she is name dropped here but we don't see her on the page) - the author's clear enthusiasm for the sport - the international settings are a fun change of pace
What didn't work as well for me: - that the FMC thought she could just claim to be a sports reporter and no one would question her/look her up; she'd just be given unfettered access to a multimillion dollar campaign and one of its hottest (in every sense of the word) drivers...I mean, come on... - overall, there's more "let's do it for the plot" circumstances than usual. Lex moving into Posey's rental with her days after they met, everyone being so cool with Posey's big reveal, how head-whippingly fast Lex went from the sport's biggest playboy to a one-woman man...just a few of the most egregious examples - in general, Posey just felt like an author stand-in here. Don't get me wrong--I am a big Sawyer Bennett fan and have really enjoyed most of her books that I've read, but she has worked years (her first novel was out in January 2013, so nearly 12 years) to get where she is as an indie author. The FMC is, I'm guessing--early- to mid-twenties? (the MMC's age, 24, is mentioned several times and no one indicates that Posey is considerably older) and she's already getting the same kind of success? It just doesn't feel realistic. - a little *too* much detail about the business of racing here--it kind of felt like all of the author's research got tossed in here, whether the plot actually needed it or not - I just couldn't get behind the narrators. Sean Masters' voice is perfectly fine, but he in no way sounds like 24-year-old. And Kit Swann's voice was just too breathy for me--she always sounded like she was on the verge of...I don't know, a panic attack, maybe? Fortunately, I was generously given both a text and an audio ARC version, so I was able to switch. But I'd definitely suggest listening to a sample first before committing to that version if you're at all picky about narration.
As I mentioned in the beginning, I have high hopes for the rest of this series even though this first one wasn't *quite* my cup of tea. I do like the new sport and the setting, though, and the blurbs for the next two sound promising. My review is definitely an anomaly here, so I'm sure this is a case of it's me, not the book--if this book sounds good to you, definitely give it a try!
Rating: 3 stars / C+
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I guess making Lex Hamilton a socially concious, biracial, short king would have been too much of a rip off, eh? Posey Evans became uninteresting the moment her personality was established as "nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrLs". Can we please leave this shitty character trope in 2024? PLEASE.
The premise was interesting, the execution was a flop. It was boring, bogged down with blocks of technical information that felt like it had been copy-pasted from an Intro to Formula 1 textbook.
3.0 Stars. This was a quickie lightweight romance that lasted just 221 pages. There's an abrupt ending that implied a longer relationship would be had. An okay read. I wasn't really interested in formula one racing, but Sawyer Bennett is on my list of fav authors, and I wanted to give it a try. Hopefully, this was just a slow start, and the series steps up.
Excited for a new series from Sawyer! Lex is one of the best racers in Formula One at the moment, but his bad boy behavior is risking his spot with his team and the league. As a way to control him and keep him out of trouble, the team assigns him to have a shadow through a reporter writing a story on the team and the sport. Nothing is ever as it seems though, since the reporter, Posey, actually isn’t a reporter at all and is actually a romance writer who is looking to transition her career from historical romance to sports romance and is using this opportunity to learn everything she can to make her new book more authentic. As Lex and Posey spend more time together, Lex is somewhat enamored by how Posey acts and dresses in comparison to what he usually is involved with, and when he finds out that she isn’t who she says she is, he decides to keep her secret as long as she does what he wants. But the more time they spend together, the more the lines blur between the friendship they’ve formed and something more, and when a jealous teammate risks what they’ve built, it’s unclear if they can ever recover. This was such a great introduction to this series, and I cannot wait to see what Sawyer does with the series and these characters! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
4.5 I'm super excited to be getting a racing series from Sawyer Bennett! I love Posey and that she is a romance author. Her plan for time with Crown Velocity was such a fun storyline. Lex isn't mister perfect to start, and I really liked that, actually. It made for a journey for Lex to see what he really wants in his life and his priorities. I really enjoyed these two as a couple, and I liked that they are so different from each other. Posey really seemed to knock Lex on his butt and really make him rethink so much about his life. I am so excited to be jumping in a racing world. I love racing, but I don't know much about F1, so this will be a fun ride!
Racecar driver/romance author, playboy to reform his ways, secrets and hot spice.
I listened to the audiobook of this, and loved it! I think that hearing the voices gives you so much more as a reader. You really can feel the emotions. You connect much quicker to the characters as well. These narrators were top notch.
This book is the first in the series and can be read as a complete stand alone.
You will get some fun little Easter eggs though if you have read some of the other series. But they are just minor, so if you haven't read the books you won't miss anything. But if you have the Easter eggs will give you quite a giggle.
I have never been this excited about a series before, yet here I am extremely overjoyed!! The first one written for this series was captivating to say the least! An incredible story written with such an authenticity! Sawyer managed to capture the scenes with such precision that it took me to a different dimension! I was so in awe! The passion on two different fronts, from racing to love! Im just amazed! Thrilling and exciting! So many indications of what might be on the horizon has gotten me on high alert for what’s to come!! Truly incredible!
I enjoyed this way more than I thought i might for such a fast paced book buuuut I was SCREAMING from the start! As a fan of F1, this was delicious 🥰 I loved all of the behind the scenes details too! The narrators were phenomenal as well! Applause to them and all the accents they did!
Quick fun read! Lex is a race car driver and Posey is a romance book author. An unlikely match but cute. They fall for eachother quickly. A small 3rd act breakup. Cute!
Narrators: Sean Masters and Kit Swann Narration Style: Dual Standard Length: 7 h 40 m Produced by: Lyric Audiobooks
This was my first F1 romance (excuse me, FI), and it was so fun! I could tell that Sawyer Bennett is a skilled sports romance author because she did her homework on the sport. I expect sports to be in my sports romances, and this absolutely delivered. The narrators chosen for this story were a perfect fit. I loved the chemistry between the heroine and the hero, and how everything played out. I would definitely pick up a Sawyer Bennett book again. I'm glad I listened to this!
Thank you Sawyer Bennett, Lyric Audiobooks and Must Love Audio for the ALC.
I love when one of my favorite authors introduces me to a new fictional world and with Formula Fling we’re diving into F1 racing and Lex and Poppy’s story. Lex is the “bad boy of the racing world and Poppy, a romance author (shhhh it’s a secret) is in the UK to write a story and take her career to another level. The secret is, that no one knows that she’s playing a role to get her story ideas until one night with Lex where she’s his “bodyguard so to speak and he figures out what she’s doing things just got interesting!!
I was lucky enough to be able to listen to the fabulous Kit Swann and Sean Masters bring this world to life and they do a phenomenal job with their accents and all the mannerisms that are British. I truly felt I was in the UK because these two narrators are so good at what they do! I loved the pull and tug that Lex and Poppy have between them. This young woman is the complete opposite of Lex and he’s resentful that she’s been tasked with shadowing him to get his reputation under control combined with his attraction to her because it’s clear she’s a sweet and innocent in the ways of romance.
I loved how their story and relationship built as the book progresses. Being in the racing world was a thrilling experience. There are some outside forces that may not be happy with Lex and Poppy becoming a couple and how that changes them, hello Ronan, I’m talking to you he’s got issues and I’m hoping eventually it bites him you know where!
Throughout this book, we see a change in both Poppy and Lex and what that means for both of them because it could possibly make all their dreams come true even if there’s some definite speed humps in the road! Ms. Bennett did a magnificent job with all the idiosyncrasies of this world making me excited to read more about Crown Velocity Racing!
A bit too much of the technical side of racing for me. I think I would have believed in the romance more if the H/h were older than 23 and 24... Excellent writing, as usual, by Sawyer.
Formula 1 lovers (and all those who aren’t too), you are definitely going to want to add this to your list! Posey and Lex’s story is so much fun! The bad boy driver and romance author posing as a journalist mashup was entertaining from beginning to end. I loved the pace, the character and relationship growth, the chemistry and tension, and all the fun places Sawyer’s writing takes us.
Sean Masters and Kit Swann narrate, and they were amazing together! Just when I thought Sean couldn’t get any better, he goes and pulls off a fantastic British accent. Kit’s soft and sweet cadence complemented Posey’s personality perfectly. I highly recommend listening to this one, the audiobook really enhanced the story for me.

This is the first book in a new series and Ms Bennett just smashes it once again. Posey and lex had my heart right from the start of this story. Highly recommended
As a romance author, Posey knows how important research is for her work, and she's ready to move from historical romance to romances involving race car drivers. She manages to work her way into a racing team's organization by posing as a freelance journalist. She ends up “shadowing the team's troublemaker driver, Lex Hamilton, for her story. What will his reaction be when he finds out what she's really writing?
Lex definitely knows what to say to a girl to get her worked up. He also knows how to make a girl feel comfortable in her own skin. Posey seemed way too relatable at times. I loved how we got to see Lex’s journey from playboy to commitment. It was mostly mental dialogue, but it was still thorough. I also loved seeing Posey grow out of her comfort zone, how Lex supported her, and how excited she was to watch him race. This book has a great balance of plot, passion, and emotion. Sawyer Bennett, where have you been all my life?!? I can't wait to check out more of her books!
I was so happy to hear Kit Swann and Sean Masters were narrating this book. It has been far too long since either one of them have been in my ears. They both did an amazing job!
Thank you to Must Love Audio and the author for an advanced copy of this audiobook. Opinions are my own.
THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You're looking to read outside of your typical sports romance comfort zone.
