Christmas Daddies #3

If Only In Our Dreams

Rate this book
Sometimes a meet-cute, a long nap, and a sexy-ass bicep is just what the doctor ordered.

Ben Montgomery - I’m not sure if I’ve ever believed in love at first sight. In my forty-five years on this earth, the only sort of love I’ve known is the unconditional, soul-healing kind I have for my twin daughters. But when I meet a sweet, flirtatious man dressed in all black with circles under his eyes even darker than his eyeliner—I’m immediately captivated. Robin Johnson makes me smile more than anyone I’ve ever met. He’s emo-goth and a walking ball of sunshine. He’s giggles and quips and yet deep beneath the surface, he hides an overwhelming sadness. And though I know he’s only in town for a short time, there isn’t much I wouldn’t do to make Robin’s life just a little bit more merry. Even if it means admitting that love at first sight isn’t a fairy tale, after all.

Robin “Trashmouth Johnson - Years of constant touring, with sleepless nights on the road and in countless hotels has taken its toll on both my body and my mental state. It’s a lifestyle that’s left me exhausted and wrecked, but also afraid to slow down, afraid to stop running. The truth is, I’ve always been running—from my past, from my family, from myself. But visiting my brother, Miles, and his new husband this holiday season in their quiet Vermont town feels like just the break I need to figure out my next step in life. And after a chance encounter with a sexy stranger, who turns out to be more than I ever could have wished for, I wonder if maybe a rolling stone could learn to grow roots.

If Only In Our Dreams is a standalone Holiday MM romance with high heat, a HEA, and no cliffhangers. Includes a blossoming friends-to-lovers romance between a single father and his adorably flirty emo-punk shadow. Together these two are warm, snarky, and tooth-achingly sweet. If you like funny stories with lots of banter, holiday magic, positive mental health rep, and the slowest, sweetest of all burns then read on!

I adored the two previous Christmas Daddies books to the tune of 5 stars.

I can't say the same about If Only in Our Dreams.

My grievances:

There's no slow burn or friendship development. Robin is very pushy and immediately ropes Ben into playing his games.

Ben and Robin meet on a flight before realizing they're brothers in-law, and both are jumpy and awkward. They talk in quips and one-liners, which I found exhausting rather than humorous.

(Also, why is Robin, a veritable rock star, flying economy? Where is the private jet? At the very least, Robin can afford first class.)

The writing is busy and frenetic, like the author needed to vomit every possible word onto the page.

I didn't like Robin. I wanted to feel bad for him, and I kind of did, but Robin is a whole mood: manic and anxious.

Ben's twin daughters take up too much page time. The teens in book 1 and Bubba in book 2 didn't bother me at all, but Jane and Rosie are irritating and act far older than 4.

Public announcement: Kids walking around with swear jars and dictating how adults can speak isn't cute or funny; it's annoying af. Blanket prohibitions against swearing aren't helpful, since kids will hear it all anyway. Teach them situational awareness and context.

Why did Robin spend so much time with the girls but hardly any time with Bubba who's his biological son? I get that Miles is Bubba's dad, but Robin is still the "duncle" and he barely shows up for the kid. Bubba's going to have some serious abandonment issues.

The BDSM thing is the pink elephant in the room: obvious, random, and vaguely uncomfortable in that not-my-business-but-what-the-fuck kind of way. And don't get me started on the sex dungeon announcement in the epilogue. How are they gonna explain that to the twins because you can't keep an entire apartment secret forever.

Full disclosure: I was frustrated with this story from the beginning and skimmed large chunks. Maybe the story deserves a higher rating. Maybe it's my mood. Maybe it's Maybelline.

This was super sweet and sexy. I will always love the gentle giant from a small town loving the big city mc back to happiness vibe. The wholesome small town atmosphere was so cute and I enjoyed the extended cast of characters. The main romance reminded me a bit of one of my all time favorite romances, In the Middle of Somewhere by Roan Parrish. The Ben/Robin relationship was just so soft and beautiful. Also super sexy on a level I wasn’t expecting.

I was very close to giving this five stars but I’m not a fan of the way the Bubba and Robin dynamic played out. While I loved seeing Robin interact with Ben’s girls and the build up of their family unit it felt like something was missing. Robin is kinda Dan Scott from OTH if you really think about it. Something about it chafed to see him spending so much more time with the twins than he did with Bubba on page. I also felt a little robbed by the lack of brotherly scenes between Miles and Robin.

Regardless still insanely fun and sweet, full of spice and holiday cheer if that’s what you’re seeking!

ARC review

Ben and Robin had the best and sweetest dynamic ever. I know the series title has created a bit of confusion because the men are actual dads and not daddies (wink wink), but in this book, it’s got daddy vibes for days. Ben is such a caretaker, and the way he looks out for and takes care of Robin was adorable and hot in equal measure. There’s no actual daddy kink, but if you like that sort of dynamic, look no further.

The twins were such important side characters and I really enjoyed that they were such a big part of the story. Both Ben and Robin loved them so much. I only wish the story explored the situation with Bubba a bit more, as I assume Robin would become a bigger part of his life eventually.

“I’m your favorite person? Robin asked, voice tiny and sweet. “Of course you are, I said honestly. “You’re my Robin.

Even though it was still present, and more towards the end, I appreciated that the use of repetition was toned down a little from Fae’s previous books. I was also played by GRR, as the book is listed as being 80k words, and I thought ‘hallelujah, Fae wrote a short book, but turns out it’s 400 pages, which is not 80k.

Anyway. I might not have requested if I’d known that, but by the time I noticed I was thoroughly enjoying and invested in the story and characters, so wasn’t a big problem. I mean, it’s definitely way longer than any contemporary holiday romance needs to be, but still good.

The balance of taking care of each other sweetly and absolute filth in the forms of edging, milking, praise kink, post-orgasm stimulation, breeding kink, dirty talk, somno and more was done really well and it was super enjoyable.

Robin grinned, and I glanced down at him. Quite far. Because he was incredibly short. Barely came up to my rib cage, actually, when we were both standing.

“You are so incredibly sweet, I said softly—always soft because I didn’t think anyone else had treated Robin gently.

Praise kink. He might have a praise kink. My head spun. Stop thinking about his kinks, Ben, and feed him. He looks hungry.

Every time I read one of the books in this series it feels like a warm hug 🥹 I knew before I even started reading that I was gonna love these two! A pint sized emo goth twink and awkward but confident gentle giant that only wants to care for said pint sized emo goth twink?! Sign me tf up every time!! I don’t even know where to start with these two!

Robin! I don’t know what I expected bc we didn’t see any of him in Miles book but I didn’t expect his character to be so warm and open? He was so cute and soooo funny I loved how weird he is and I related to that weirdness so much he’s literally my spirit character. Especially with his tendency to give people crazy cutesy nicknames, I too love giving people crazy cutesy nicknames 😂 This lil bby really didn’t know how much he was loved and needed to be protected at all costs. His relationships with everyone around him felt so special. I loved how much time we got to spend with Robin and Miles in this book and how close and honest they were with each other, his relationship with Bubba and the twins was also adorable 🥰 Most of all his relationship with Ben is obviously the highlight of this book, they just got each other, cared so much and felt so real, grounded, comfortable, funny, sexy and all the things. Seeing how easily and naturally their relationship flowed from strangers to friends to lovers was just so cozy, sweet and thoughtfully written.

BEN!!! There’s so many things to say about Ben to explain why he may quite possibly be one of the best book boyfriends that I’ve ever read thus far! Imagine this: a gentle, awkward, confident, compassionate, sexy, sincere, loyal, silver fox that takes care of his Songbird like no one else ever had and ever will? Oh I severely swooned! Every word of encouragement: swoon. Every bossy command in the bedroom bc he expects obedience? Swoon. Dedicated, present and gentle father, brother, son and boyfriend? I may literally expire from how many times I swooned over Ben in this book! Also the fact that he also let Robin take care of him when he needed it bc he’s emotionally secure and well adjusted, the Ws never stop with this one honestly. Ben was such a steady and unyielding presence that our bby Robin needed and deserved so much 🥹

This is probably one of my favorite if not my most favorite book I’ve read this year. Fae Quin’s writing never fails to make me cry, swoon, laugh, lust and 1000+ more emotions. Every couple she writes is my favorite couple 🥹 I loved this book so much and I knew I would and I love being right 😂 Go read this immediately plz and thank u 🫶🏾

This book was hands-down the best in the series! Ben and Robin's story delivered on every level - emotional depth, heartfelt moments, and sizzling chemistry. I devoured every second of it.

Their first meeting on the flight to Belleville sparked undeniable tension. Ben, aware of Robin's fame, seized the opportunity to shower him with love and Christmas magic.

Robin's character captivated me from the start. His heartbreaking backstory made my heart ache, but Ben's unwavering support proved he deserved love.
This book masterfully balanced cute moments, scorching intimacy, and emotional complexity. Miles, Bubba, and Ben's twins added depth to the story with their genuine connections with Robin.

The HEA was absolute perfection. This series conclusion left me satisfied, yet craving more.

If you're seeking a Christmas read that will leave you breathless and smiling, look no further. This series is a must-read.

* I received an ARC copy from GRR and this is my honest review *

"Good things are with hurting for"

I just loved this story so so much! Fae created such a wonderful world with wonderful characters, and it was great to be back in Belleville. No two ppl deserved their HEA like Robin and Ben did, and it was truly a pleasure getting to experience their journey. The twins were adorable and hilarious, loved the whole dynamic. Spectacular book, It was all the feels and left my heart so very happy, highly recommend!

This was the first book that I have read in this series. I was instantly intrigued when I read the blurb and having recently read another of Fae's books, I just knew I had to read this.

I was not disappointed at all. I loved it. Robin and Ben were adorable together. Ben's little goth twins were super cute. All the side characters were great. The timing of this being between Halloween and Christmas was perfect.

There were no shortage of cute moments in this. I really felt for Robin too. He had a hard life growing up and Ben was just so supportive and caring. One of my favorite things is when there is an MC who people think is grouchy or not very friendly, but when that MC (Ben here) finds his person, he gives off a totally different vibe with them and in this instance became Robin's teddy bear.

I received an ARC of this from GRR and this is my honest opinion.

I loved the first book in this series, the second book was ok but this is just annoying so far and I can’t go further. Robin is a 33 year old rock star but acts like he’s in middle school. How did they not know that the other was on the plane? No one told them “hey, you’re flying with your new brother-in-law!

This is way over the top and I couldn’t stand one twin so I’m not looking forward to reading about the other one too. Please stop writing annoying children in books!

I wasn't prepared...

...I knew who's story the third book would be but if I'm honest I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did... I'd say each book was better than the last but I think that's cos I get the warm fuzzies after each one and the happy vibes make me feel that way. I think all 3 are equally good equally sweet and I loved them all.

My new favourite of the Christmas Daddies series! Robin and Ben and the sweetest, cutest couple to ever exist. This book watered my crops, healed every hurt I ever had, and made little beams of sunshine brighten my day. It was an absolute hug in a book and I will be pulling this out whenever I need a comfort read from now on.

Robin is so lost, so alone and sad at the beginning of the book. He has such low self esteem but he is also the kindest golden retriever of a person whenever he is given even a scrap of affection. Ben is awkward and quiet and lonely in his own way, but he too is the most giving, patient and affectionate guy who’ll do anything for those he cares about.

Together? Honey sweet, keep you warm on a cold day, soothe your soul goodness. I adore them. I want to EAT them. They’re so perfect together the happiness and peace just flows off the page and makes you want to cry. They’re also both wonderful with the twins, who are brilliant and funny side characters that you can’t help but love.

This is a Fae Quin book so obviously there is also amazing banter and some lovely comedy moments, not to mention the spice! I find the Christmas Daddies series a little spicier than the Spooky Boys series personally, and I really enjoyed both the tension and the spice scenes in this one particularly. You’re in for a whole load of praise kink, breeding talk and focus on their size difference - and it’s glorious!

Loved this book and can’t wait to add it to my shelves. If you enjoy sweet, low angst romances with heart then this is the book for you!

i’m still amazed by the fact that i love this author’s contemporary books.
and i honestly loved this so much. i even loved the kids, and that’s saying something.
this really feels like a warm hug.

i do have one small complaint, in this series, at the very end, they randomly embrace bdsm???? what is the reason????

i read an arc blah blah blah

I hate how she describes this 33 year old adult man rock star in such sexualized childlike ways, it makes me very uncomfortable! He is a grown man not a sexy toddler! Stop it! DNF but marking it as read bc I read enough and will never get that time back, sorry! It’s something Fae Quin has always done but this time it was simply too much for me especially combined with the praise kink. Robin is a normal person in his own pov but then cut to Ben and he’s like a sexy baby suddenly. Ben was boring and I got so tired of his internal monologuing (which is another flaw in Fae Quin’s writing that really grinds my gears, stop with the internal monologuing! Every book could be 100 pages shorter!) ugh okay I’m done being a hater I was just truly so bored.

3.25 stars. Cute. I liked Robin and Ben together and I very much liked how patient Ben was. I did have some issues with this book:

* I expected Bubba to play a way larger role in this story than he did. In fact, he barely had any on page interaction with Robin. That wasn't what I expected, especially because Robin was doing stuff with the twins all the time. Why not with his biological child? And who's Bubba's mother? There was barely any explanation for how Bubba came to live with Miles, other than that Robin felt like he wasn't in a position to be raising a child. I needed to know a lot more.

* The twins didn't act like they were four, more like 7 or 8 or something. Seems to me every child in this series acts that age, whether they're 4 or 12. If you're writing a series where children play a prominent role, please check what they're supposed to do and know at the age you're writing them. And can authors please stop with the obnoxious kids with the swear jars, who hound every adult in the story for money? It's not cute, it's rude as hell. Rosie wasn't the worst I've read, but it's very annoying.

* I wanted more details about Ben's books, how he came to be a writer, why he wrote werewolf romances etc.

* Why did Robin and Ben suddenly need a bdsm attic in the epilogue? Very weird and out of the blue.

So, sweet read, also not too heavy handed on the holiday theme, but could have been better.

Ben and Robin meet on a plane when Robin falls asleep almost immediately on Ben's biceps and remains there for the whole flight...while listening to an audiobook that was written by Ben.

Unsurprisingly they fall in love.

On the surface I really liked Ben and Robin together. A bit under the surface I was really put off by how infantilized Robin often was in Ben's POV chapters due to the age gap. Like he treats him like a kid and its played off as cute (which, sure it is, taking him sledding and shit) but Robin is 33. It was weird.

I actually really liked Ben's two weird goth twins. They were fun and I loved watching them interact with Robin. And how no one had any qualms with how fowl-mouthed Robin was around these four year olds? Or ALL of the other kids in the book? Whatever.

Not to kink shame but the BDSM stuff was very uncomfortable for little asexual me, so I just skipped all of the sex scenes.
I cannot fathom how telling someone they have a "sweet little cock" is erotic in any way.

Definitely my least favorite book in the Christmas Daddies series but I really do hope we get another entry in 2025. The author's sign-off at the end of the book indicated we'd be back to this town next year and I hope so as 2/3 of the books so far have been really enjoyable and, even with my issues with this one, I still had an okay-time with it.

These two were sweet and awkward and just so damn adorable. Both Ben & Robin have been keeping their hearts protected but they were lonely and you could see they were both aching to find that soul that would understand all their vulnerable, dark spots and keep them safe. These two didn’t seem to fit from the outside, but they were the perfect match. Ben gave Robin that safe space to rest and trust from the very first page when Robin fell asleep on Ben on the plane it was such a soft, but sweet beginning. And that about described their entire relationship. Yes, there was some spicy spice, but overall their love story was full of soft and sweet and I couldn’t get enough of it.

My only complaint, it was a teensie bit too long. There were certain parts that dragged and that didn’t feel right for these boys.

Still overly wordy but aside from that I loved this one. Loved the twins, loved Ben, and loved Robin even when I wasn’t sure I was going to. I cried toward the last 1/4 of this one. Just so touching and sweet and I’m so happy for these two!

Ben and Robin were absolutely everything! I absolutely adored this book and their love story. Between Ben’s caretaking and the praise kink and Robin’s bouncing off the wall personality with this random statements ughh I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jane and Rosie were the stars of this book by far. They are just absolute savages and I was living for it! Also Fae Quinn can do no wrong when it comes to dirty talk and spicy scenes 🥵🥵🥵 phewwwww the mouth on Ben was so hot! Love love loveeed this book. Can’t wait for any future stories within this world…maybe even a little wayyyyy in the future book for Bubba and Jeremy? Because they were too cute as well

I binged this book so hard. I started it as soon as I got my pre-order copy at 9pm my time, and stayed up until 3, then woke up at 8 and didn’t stop until I was done. God it was so gooood! Not as low-angst as the previous two books, but it was still relatively low-angst. I loved every second of this book. Robin and Ben are so sweet and so perfect. And the mob-boss twins were great! Not as much of the side characters are we got in previous books, but honestly that was fine. I’m so sad that I’m done with these books- it’s definitely one of those series I wish I could read for the first time again.

MC's:

🎶🎙🎸Robin Johnson aka Trashmouth (or, as Ben calls him, Little Songbird):
🎼 33 years old, he/him, bisexual, small in stature, with green eyes, white-blond hair, a lip ring, pierced ears and nipples, crows tattooed across his body. Always dressed in black, with smudged eyeliner and combat boots.
🎼 He's lived in L.A. since his early twenties. A successful emo-punk musician and songwriter, Robin’s life seems glamorous from the outside. Internally, though, he battles severe insomnia, anxiety, and a deep-seated fear of being “poison to the people he loves.
🎼 In his life, there are only three people who matter:
🎼 His brother, Miles,* and Bubba, Miles’s son (though Bubba’s biological father is Robin).
Nancy, his assistant and friend.
🎼 Robin is a devoted brother who raised Miles since they were young. But in recent years, he’s been a distant sibling and uncle, always making sure they’re provided for, even if he’s rarely present. Despite his fame, Robin feels lost and yearns for a sense of belonging. After collapsing on stage, he’s sent on a much-needed break to Belleville, Vermont.
There, he meets Ben and begins rediscovering himself through a whirlwind of emotions: playdates with a sexy doctor and his twins, tender quiet nights, and spicy moments with Ben.
🎼 I adore this MC... he holds a very special place in my heart.

*Miles is one of the two MCs from the second book in the series (You Can Count On Me).

🩺📚👉Benjamin Montgomery, aka Ben (and the endless hilarious nicknames created by Robin 😂):
🩺 he/him, 45yo, tall, with a swimmer’s body, dark auburn hair, warm toffee-colored eyes, and tattoos. A serious yet deeply compassionate small-town doctor who also moonlights as a werewolf romance author. A single dad to two adorable four-year-old twins, Rosie and Jane, Ben is both patient and fiercely protective of his loved ones. He always had the total support of his family.
🩺 With a grounded life in Belleville, Vermont, Ben didn’t know he needed a spark until Robin walked into his world, turning his quiet life upside down.

🩺 Note: Ben Montgomery is the brother of Paxton and Trent. Paxton is one of the two MCs in the first book of the series (Let Your Heart Be Light), and Trent is one of the two MCs in the second book (You Can Count On Me).

🎄✨️❄️ The two MCs are simply wonderful. Their personalities complement each other so well, bringing authenticity to the story.
Ben’s steady, stoic nature perfectly balances Robin’s lively energy. Robin’s exuberance brings vibrancy, while Ben’s reserved patience creates a dynamic that’s impossible not to love.

❄️ Their relationship develops naturally, built on trust and understanding, which makes their connection feel so special. I found it beautiful that they could speak with their eyes, understanding and feeling everything through their gazes.

❄️ The balance between heartfelt moments and humor is perfect. Robin’s vivacious spirit lights up every scene, while Ben’s quiet strength provides the ideal grounding force. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their journey unfolds in a beautifully organic way.

❄️ The mental health representation is handled with care and authenticity.

❄️ The side characters in Belleville embrace you with humor and warmth. The book club members are especially entertaining, and the twins, who quickly adopt Robin into their lives, add so much heart. Despite some hiccups in the story (like their surprisingly mature behavior for characters who seem to be only 6 or 7 years old) they add a layer of charm and complexity.

❄️ Miles and Bubba’s roles, while subtle, are deeply impactful. I wish there had been more moments with the three of them (Robin, Miles, and Bubba) exploring their shared history, challenges, and mutual support. For years, it was just the three of them, and Robin needed to open up to Miles too. More sweet moments with Bubba, as well as Robin’s interactions with the twins, would have added more depth and connection to the story. I would have loved for Bubba to be part of the group as well, creating an even stronger dynamic.

❄️ This is a book that stays with you long after the last page.
From sparkling snowflakes to cozy nights and the undeniable connection between the characters, it’s a beautiful celebration of love, resilience, and the magic of the holiday season.

(2.5 stars!)

After loving the first two books in this series, I’m kind of devastated that I didn’t fall in love with this one!

Ultimately I struggled with the instant love, found it to be relatively repetitive with lots of telling instead of showing, and skimmed (which I NEVER do) the last 25%.

I struggled with Robin. I found him to be manic and his chapters to be repetitive. I didn’t get him honestly. He seemed so ready to give up his career and so ready to fall in love with Ben and so ready to be a father figure to the twins when all these things previously seemed to allude him when we got glimpses of him in previous books. I expected someone more aloof and lowkey, so his sunshine angle threw me for a loop. And truly the Bubba storyline felt like an after thought when he’s signing up to be a dad to the twins.

Ben’s character was also a big shock. For being the thorniest brother seemingly, I didn’t expect the instant love for him either. I can see him being lonely obviously but to sign up to be with Robin of all people so immediately felt weird.

While the other couples in the previous books had tension and obstacles to getting together, this one seemingly didn’t have that angle and it was missed.

Robin ‘Trashmouth Johnson is on a cross country flight, where he finds the most comfortable man to fall asleep on. He is used to flights, having toured with his band. He is taking some time off to visit his brother, Miles (You Can Count on Me), and his husband Trent for the holidays.

Ben Montgomery is a doctor and finds himself glued to Robin on a cross country flight.
While Robin sleeps on him, he wonders if he will ever see him again.
When they land, they go their separate ways, until Ben’s brother Trent picks him up at the airport as well as picking up Robin too. They both realise they are actually brothers-in-law, and will be seeing a lot of each other.

Robin begins to realise what is important in his life. He has everything he could ever want, except the love he deserves.

I have loved the Christmas Daddies series from Fae Quin, and I think this is my favourite. Ben is just a beautiful soul, who is just what Robin needs in his life. Ben’s two daughters Rosie and Jane, adore Robin too, they say some very sweet things to him.
The main characters are perfect and are very hot together. I loved the side characters that we have met before in the previous two books, as well as Nancy and Trixie in this.
I teared up towards the end of the book, as it was so beautifully written.

“Ben was the comfort I’d never known I needed. He was the strength and home and trust. He was laughter, shared wine glasses, and belonging. He made me want to stay.

Robin is forced to take a break from his music career and heads to Belleville to spend with his family. When he meets Ben on the plane, he instantly feels the peace and comfort he's been missing. Robin hasn't ever had a place to call home and his first instinct is to run when things get complicated, but he can't help but feel the pull of wanting to settle in this small sleepy town with his family and Ben.

I'm not rating this because I wasn't really vibing and so I ended up skimming the second half. There are a few specific things that bothered me, which I'll mention below if you're interested in reading about them.

•sǾ

I just didn't love Robin. He seemed a little inconsistent, almost manic. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation? Maybe he's just eccentric? But the first few chapters didn't feel like same character as the rest of the book. He has a really immature/childish vibe for being a man with a huge career in his early 30s. His POV just confused me because it felt over the top and just strange. I'm also personally offended by the amount of exclamation marks that Robin had in his POV.

I always feel that this author's books can get a little long, though the Christmas ones had been better than the others. As much as I enjoyed the first two in the series, this one didn't capture my attention. Not only was it long, but a big annoyance of mine are sex scenes that are many, many pages long (outside the erotica genre). I just don't have the attention span for that. It also got a bit repetitive, almost every chapter and break was some sort of variation of "this week/weeks passed in a blur". I wish we got more in the moment scenes rather than the characters telling us what happened over the last however long time had passed since the last chapter.

I don't usually get picky over how kids don't always act their ages in books, but you can't convince me that 3 year olds decided that since they lost the Pie Festival things, the decided to train for the next year (when they are 4). I'm pretty sure they wouldn't remember, but maybe I'm not giving them enough credit. And it was strange to me how Robin was ready to jump in and parent these kids, when his own son that he gave up was right there. Yeah, Bubba has Miles as his dad but I felt like he kind of ignored Bubba and Miles in favor of Ben and the twins.

And then the whole reveal that Ben was an author was a bit of a let down. It happened off page and was just casually mentioned, when the first half it was a big deal about how his mom could never find out.

Obviously, this book wasn't my thing, but I did like the first bit. It's a low angst, Christmas romance set in sweet small town Vermont. You got snow, sledding, hot chocolate, and fun family moments which is always a good time in a holiday read.

Read if you like:
 age gap
 holiday romance
 opposites attract

These Christmas Daddy books just suck me in. The characters are misunderstood or a bit lost and it’s fun to see them find each other and unexpectedly connect.

Robin "Trashmouth" Johnson is Miles' rockstar brother who’s been touring the world and running on fumes. He can’t rest and he’s just purely exhausted. But he borrows the bicep of Ben on a plane ride and gets the best sleep he’s had. They find little connections between their friends and family and interests and now they’re spending the holidays in the same small town. Robin is lonely, lost, and burned out. The small town makes him feel seen and appreciated for himself and not his persona.

Ben Montgomery is the town Doctor and single dad. He has recently seen his brothers fall in love, but does to see it happening for himself. He is seen as grumpy, but he’s really a softy and a caretaker and he wants to make Robin feel better. Ben's steadying presence seems to be a calming one on Robin and he brings him peace.

And there are two small girls and I thought it was fun that they shared the aesthetic of Robin. This little goth, emu, precocious girls, and an equally twinky goth hero, especially in contrast to big Ben's stoic Doctor persona.

It brings back the other couples from the books since they are family and all the small town feels. It’s about finding your person when you least expect it and about trust, acceptance, peace, found family, and a true home.

ARC review

This was big and took me a while to finish, but it was so good. It was the cutest thing, like a warm hug and I really loved it.
Ben was perfection. Being loved by that man is a privilege, he was so patient, he listened, he was funny, he was understanding, he was always there Robin, no matter what. He gave him time to come to term with his feelings and did not pressure him. I adored Ben, how could I not?
Robin was lonely, and had been neglected his whole life. Then comes Ben, whose only goal was to make him happy. How can anyone resist that? I loved how Robin came to Ben on his own, he finally stopped running and went home to him and the twins.
The twins were the most adorable thing, I loved them and their sassy attitudes.
This couple was just pure perfection and they deserved the freaking world

Robin was so precious and traumatized - the ultimate commitment-phobe. Ben was the patient (and hot) lover that he needed to start the journey of self love and self acceptance. I’m ngl, I was a little leery of Robin’s book after Miles, but a lot of his decisions made more sense in light of his past. I loved his enthusiasm for experiencing a magical winter. Ben was just everything. He caught feels earlier than I anticipated, but it worked for them.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: discussion of childhood neglect and emotional abuse, insomnia, panic attacks, discussion of absent father

Ugh I am 100% immersed in my Holiday Era.

This was a wonderful, wonderful read. I was so happy with the Anxiety/mental health Rep. as a person who struggles with anxiety myself, I could absolutely relate.

Opposites attract was beautifully done here, and how Ben knew how to handle the anxiety and that he couldn’t push Robin before he was ready. I’m not usually one for single dad tropes but this was done really well and added to the story, didn’t distract me from it.

The spice was so naughty and nice! The size difference was very nice and there was just enough kink to definitely make it 🔥 Spicy 🔥

I absolutely adored Robin and Ben. I love the way Fae Quin writes hurt/comfort in her books. It's done so well without feeling dark. The inclusion of twins in the story was perfect and as usual I loved all the side characters and found family feels. I will forever recommend this series. If you're looking for feel-good, small town Christmas vibes with emotion and spice, read this series.
