About the author

Caleb Crowe

3books214followers
Caleb Crowe is a British writer of psychological thrillers, and is fascinated by stories where extraordinary things happen to ordinary people, and the mundane is transformed into the menacing.

He’s afraid of the sea, fearful in the countryside, panicky in large open spaces and terrified of small, confined spaces. There’s nowhere, and no one, that doesn’t possess some dark, brooding anxiety just waiting to have the lid prised open and turned into a twisty, suspenseful, nerve-shredding story.

He lives in Manchester with his partner, two children and two cats, who probably have their own mysterious agendas. Whether he's navigating the urban jungle or wrestling with the daily challenges of family life, Caleb draws inspiration from the unpredictability of everyday existence.

Never Let You Go written by Caleb Crowe had me in a CHOKE HOLD. 17-year-old Ariana runs away from her foster home and soon after finds herself living with the Willens family and looking after Daniel, their 12-year-old son. The two of them forge an extraordinary bond until their lives are torn apart by a horrifying tragedy. A decade later, Ariana, now a widow, is forced to confront her past when Daniel re-enters her life.

The story is told over two timelines, the current day and 10 years previously in alternating chapters mostly from Ariana's point of view. This is my first experience with a Caleb Crowe book and I'm really impressed. The characters are well fleshed out and believable and the story is extremely well written. I loved how the last sentence in one chapter became the first sentence in the next chapter with a totally different connotation. There's an undercurrent of uneasiness throughout the book and, although there were many times I wondered why Ariana couldn't see the truth of things when it was so obvious to me, I couldn't stop reading and was anxious to learn how everything would wind up. The ending is very ambiguous and I'm not too sure how I feel about it.

I'll be heading over to Kindle Unlimited to snatch up Mr. Crowe's previous books. Now I just need to find time to read them.

Thank you to Inkubator Books via Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this novel. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a five-star thriller that had me in a chokehold. I literally couldn’t stop reading it. It’s original and unpredictable and saying it’s intense is an understatement. I loved how cleverly the past and present chapters were connected and cohesive. This is the second book I have read by Caleb Crowe. He has become an auto-read author and I look forward to his next captivating creation. This book could easily be devoured in a single sitting. That being said I advise readers to block out an uninterrupted block of time because once you start reading you won't be able to stop. I excitedly recommend this to readers who love intense, twisted, and gripping thrillers. Thank you Booksprout and Inkubator Books for my copy.

First of all, Caleb is a good writer who knows that “further is often supposed to be “farther! I love good grammar! This is my first book by Caleb, and it’s refreshing to have a different theme. You pretty much know who the villain is near the beginning of the book. But the two timelines craft an interesting story! The only thing that puzzled me was the ending. I feel like there was something more that I didn’t understand!

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator books for the ARC of Never Let You Go by Caleb Crowe. This was the first book I read from Caleb Crowe and I am looking forward to reading more of his work! This book was perfectly written. I loved how phrases from the end of the chapter perfectly correlated to the beginning of the next chapter and tied the past and present together effortlessly. It was intense and kept me enthralled throughout the entire book, never quite expecting what was going to happen or what the ultimate outcome would be!

I really enjoy this author. His mind just works differently. Every book he writes feels different; it’s unique and fresh. This book was no different. Crowe had me forgetting that I was reading a thriller and that someone was going to be the “bad guy that I was shocked when it happened! You kind of feel like something is a little off, but you also kind of ignore it because no.. that can’t be right. There was definitely a twist reveal in there that I didn’t see coming and shook me to the core.

Crowes writing just flows so nicely. He has you turning pages and pages before you even realize that you’ve read half the book in such a short amount of time. I don’t always see images in my head when I read, but with this book I did. I could picture everything that was happening. This book should be made into a movie! As much as it has readers on the edge of their seat, it would have movie watchers on the edge of their seats as well.

The ending before the epilogue was really interesting, and I would love to know how Crowe comes up with these endings/plots! But that epilogue. I had to read it a few times. On the one hand, I loved it. On the other, I questioned if I read it correctly! But I don’t give away spoilers so you’re just going to have to read the book yourself to know what I’m talking about! It’s out now, so get your copy!

I absolutely loved Crowe's The Girl in the Painting, so knew that Never Let You Go was going to be something special. It was. I loved it and inhaled the book eagerly over a few hours when I couldn't sleep.

It immediately sucked me into the plot and The further we ventured, the intensity and suspense exellerated and all too soon I was nearing the end and the dark truth, knowing for once my suspicions had paid off!

Characterisations are brilliant, Daniel reminded me so much of Chucky 'your friend to the end' or Brahms, The Boy. Both Ariana and Daniel became characters that were so easy to become emotionally invested in.

An absolute page turner of a thriller, that's engaging, exciting and thoroughly enjoyable.

This is the third book I’ve read by the incredibly talented Mr Crowe. He’s done it again! Created characters I care about, and some I really don’t. Twisting and turning his narrative until, before you know it, hours have gone by!

Caleb Crowe takes seemingly normal, everyday people and flips them and their circumstances upside down. By making the unbelievable seem believable, you can understand how certain events could occur, amplifying the fear.

Ariana is a seventeen-year-old girl living within the foster care system. She wants to get away from her current life. Feeling trapped and not in control, she seeks safety and normality. Seeking refuge with a friend and then landing on her feet, gaining a job as a live-in nanny with an affluent family.

Daniel, their 12-year-old son, is brilliant, but troubled and is, according to his parents, uncooperative. He seems very taken with Ariana and they quickly form an unbreakable bond.

Tragedy blows their lives apart, and they lose contact for 10 years. As Daniel comes back into her life, Ariana is a mixture of emotions as they rekindle their friendship.

Darkness looms as secrets from both the past and present consume her life until it’s spiralling out of her control. Obsession prevents some promises from being kept. Can she wake up from this living nightmare, or will her past never let her go? Trust me, this book will not let you go until you’ve reached its pulse quickening, heart-pounding conclusion.

Phenomenal, incredible, stupendous. Grab a copy right now!

Ariana is a troubled youth from a bad background who finds herself in the foster care system. She flees her latest family and lucks into finding a job as an au pair for a family with two young children. She gets comfortable not having to worry about a place to live or having food to eat. However, the family has its share of issues. The story unfolds at present day when Ariana is 27 and a decade ago when she was 17. About half way through the book, I was lulled into forgetting this was a thriller. I was just enjoying the story of how the characters evolved. I quite literally yelled out loud... "WAIT! It's a thriller!" Mr Crowe can't fool me for long. This wasn't going to have some sweet, romantic ending. Shortly after, everything started heating up (pun intended) as bad things kept happening. You'll have to read it to learn the rest.

Caleb Crowe is one of my favorite authors, so when I came across his latest book on NetGalley, I jumped on it. I could not put it down. I read it in two days. I got irrationally angry at anyone interrupting me while I was reading it. I really felt invested in the characters and loved how they evolved over time. I especially loved how most of the chapters began with the same (or similar) sentence as they ended. I kept wondering how he was going to pull that off each chapter. I loved all his books, but I think this is his best one yet.

This was my first book by Caleb Crowe, and while I’ve heard great things about his books, this one fell a little flat. I liked the setup of the storyline, the first chapter sucked me in, the rest alternated between present day and ten years prior. The story follows a now-widowed, former foster-care child, who inherits her husband’s failing gallery. The story introduces a new character and I felt like his story was evident from the start.

I became somewhat frustrated with the quirky way the author ended a chapter with the same line as he started the next one- except for when he didn’t and there was no rhyme or reason. I feel like this could be left out in the final publish and no one would be any wiser. The story was pretty predictable and lacked the building suspense I had hoped for. Overall, I may read another from this author, but I was disappointed with this one.

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC! I love the ability to check out new authors and books and will continue to seek out more!

Remember Release Date January 26th!! 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛
Caleb Crowe Author is an evil genius (or would that be bloody brilliant?) 😉 FYI, those of you looking for the books with short chapters, this has them.

I figured many things out long before the female lead character. Normally that would frustrate me and make me want to reach through the pages and slap the girl. Ariana was likable and I found myself inexplicably still rooting for her. I have so much to say about the male character Daniel, but that could get me into dangerous spoiler territory.

Although, I saw some of the twists coming, I still very much enjoyed the stories journey to and through the twists. There were some nice surprises I didn’t see blended in there too.

I have always hated when a stand-alone story wraps up with areas that have no definitive answers. It leaves me anxious, twitchy, and unsettled. I like the neat bow, that’s just me. Caleb Crowe managed to deliver an epilogue that left at least one looming question, but somehow still satisfied me.

Thank you to Caleb Crowe, Inkubator Books, and NetGalley for this great ARC.

I received an ARC copy of Never Let You Go from Inkubator Books, NetGalley and British author Caleb Crowe.

This story follows Tracey Jones (AKA Ariana Simpson) a teen placed into the foster system. She runs away and becomes an au pair for a family with two children, Poppy and Daniel. As a teen, Ariana gets blackmailed by the friend’s boyfriend…the friend’s boyfriend ends up dead.

As an adult, Ariana marries an art gallery owner that soon dies tragically. She struggles to keep his gallery dream alive when Daniel appears back into her adult life. She holds a successful art show, for a famous artist, with Daniel’s help. Directly after the show, the artist takes his business to another galley, instead of staying with Ariana. The famous artist goes missing.

This psychological thriller kept me up late and anxious from beginning to end.

Slang and terms consistent with the London setting. Trauma, lies, tragedy and a monster that is inescapable. It was a fantastic ARC read to start 2025! It is a must read this year!

Thank you so much to Inkubator books and Caleb Crowe for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Wow!! Just wow! This book had everything I love in a psychological thriller! The story alternates between the past and present, and the author's way of transitioning between chapters/timelines is very clever, it did not go unnoticed. I love books that I can't stop thinking about when I'm not actively reading and this was one of those. The twists and suspense are evenly paced and although I figured out fairly early on what was going to happen I was still heavily invested in the story and eager to continue reading it. The twists don't disappoint. This was my first read by Caleb Crowe and definitely will not be my last.

I was hooked from the prologue and just could not put it down! Mostly to find out who Jeffrey was but also because I was enjoying the plot. I really loved the character development in this book and the more I found out the more I needed to know more. The dual timeline meant you got the backstory at the same time as the ending story and they complimented each other well. I loved this book and was very glad I picked it up!

Caleb Crowe delivers yet another masterful psychological thriller with Never Let You Go, a gripping tale of suspense, obsession, and redemption. Told through alternating timelines—ten years apart—the novel keeps readers hooked as it pieces together the puzzle of a young woman’s tumultuous past and her precarious present.

The story centers around Ariana, a troubled girl who escapes the foster care system and finds herself working as a nanny for a seemingly perfect family. Her bond with 12-year-old Daniel becomes the emotional anchor of her life, but a devastating fire changes everything, leaving her to face an uncertain future. A decade later, Ariana, now a widow grieving her husband’s tragic death, is forced to confront her past when Daniel reenters her life. What begins as a touching reunion quickly spirals into a series of shocking twists and turns, keeping the tension razor-sharp.

The dual timeline structure is expertly handled, creating a rhythm that immerses readers in Ariana’s evolving journey while gradually unveiling the darker secrets at the heart of the story. Crowe’s writing is evocative, blending psychological depth with an undercurrent of unease that grows with every page.

The characters are well-developed and relatable, particularly Ariana, whose resilience and vulnerability make her a compelling protagonist. Daniel’s evolution is equally fascinating, and the layers of his personality add complexity to the unfolding mystery. The chapters clever transitions, where many begin with echoes of their predecessors, showcase Crowe’s ingenuity and add a seamless flow to the narrative.

Without spoiling the ending, it’s worth noting that the climax is both unexpected and unforgettable—a tense and provocative conclusion that will leave readers with much to think about.

Favorite Character: Ariana, for her strength and determination amidst a life filled with challenges.
Most Memorable Twist: The revelation about the fire’s aftermath and its far-reaching consequences.

Never Let You Go is a tour de force, blending psychological suspense with emotional depth. Crowe’s ability to craft a haunting yet heart-wrenching narrative is unparalleled, making this a must-read for fans of thrillers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC. This was a riveting and unforgettable read that I couldn’t put down. Highly recommended!

Never Let You Go by Caleb Crowe had me absolutely hooked from the beginning. This was a dark twisted thriller that deals with some heavy topics such as child abuse, murder and physical and mental abuse.
Ariana is a very troubled girl but she lucks out when she escapes the foster care system. She becomes a nanny for a family with two children Poppy and Daniel. Ariana and Daniel form an intense bond and provide each other with emotional stability and support. But when a tragic fire occurs Ariana is once again having to face an unknown future. 10 years later we find Ariana as a 27-year-old widow trying to run her late husband's gallery. When Daniel comes back into her life, it starts off as a welcome reunion but it soon takes a deep dive into wild twists and turns all culminating in an unexpected climax.
Caleb Crowe is an auto read author for me. Not only do his books leave me shell shocked but he is just generally a great guy and very modest and humorous with his fans. This book is another five star read that blends an atmosphere of unease with fully fleshed out characters and a great narrative. Told in dual timelines the reader gets to see Ariana's journey while unraveling the many secrets that are hidden. This is absolutely a must-read for fans of thrillers!

Caleb Crowe’s Never Let You Go is an elegantly crafted psychological thriller that grips you from the first sentence to the last. The unique structure—starting each chapter with the previous chapter’s final words—creates a seamless, hypnotic flow that heightens the suspense and pulls you deeper into the story.

Ariana and Daniel’s bond is equal parts poignant and unsettling, and Crowe expertly unravels their shared past while building tension toward a chilling and unforgettable conclusion. The writing is sharp and atmospheric, with twists that kept me guessing until the final page.

For fans of dark, emotionally charged thrillers, Never Let You Go is an absolute must-read. A brilliant exploration of obsession, trauma, and the inescapable pull of the past!

This book was everything I love!

What I loved most aboutNever Let You Gowas how it embraced the stalker vibes and obsession within the characters and storyline. The author didn't shy away from exploring darker themes, which I found incredibly refreshing. Many authors are afraid to go to this type of darker side in a thriller, but this book dives right into it, which made it stand out for me. I often root for the villain, sorry.

I loved how the setting was written and how vivid it was, and how the author painted the scenes. The book was so easy to imagine, and the chapters played on as if I was on a cinematic experience - the best books often make me feel like this.

Crowe has a talent for weaving an unsettling yet magnetic atmosphere that pulls readers in and refuses to let go. His ability to explore morally complex characters with such depth is truly commendable. The protagonist’s obsession, the antagonist’s shadowy presence, and even the seemingly minor characters all felt layered and alive, that's what kept me wanting more and more.

While the book hits many high notes, there are very small aspects that keep it from being a full 5-star read, which are more of a personal taste than anything else, so an overall of 4.5 stars. I can’t wait to read more from him.

3.5 Stars A Dark and Twisted Tale

Never Let You Go is a gripping psychological thriller about obsession, trauma, and the ties that refuse to break. When runaway Ariana finds a home with the Willens family, she forms an intense bond with their brilliant son, Daniel. But tragedy rips them apart—until Daniel resurfaces a decade later, bringing buried secrets back to light.

The novel is suspenseful and unsettling, with strong psychological depth. While the tension is well-crafted, some twists felt predictable, and the pacing dragged at times. Still, it’s an engaging read for fans of dark thrillers.

Never Let You Go by Caleb Crowe is a gripping, emotional rollercoaster that will haunt you long after you’ve turned the final page.

When 17-year-old Ariana runs from her foster home, she finds solace in the Willens family, becoming a caregiver to their brilliant yet fragile 12-year-old son, Daniel. The bond between them is unbreakable, but tragedy strikes, tearing them apart and setting the stage for a dark and suspenseful tale of love, loyalty, and the devastating secrets that shape our lives.

Fast-forward ten years, and Daniel reenters Ariana’s carefully reconstructed world, bringing with him shadows of the past. As old wounds reopen, Crowe masterfully weaves a tale that balances psychological tension with raw emotion, keeping the reader guessing until the very end.

This novel is as much about the endurance of human connections as it is about facing one’s demons. With its complex characters and a plot packed with twists, Never Let You Go is a must-read for fans of suspenseful, character-driven fiction.

Prepare for a story that will grip your heart, twist your mind, and leave you breathless.

I know they say not to judge a book by its cover - but I just can't help it....especially when they look this good!

I could tell straight away that I'd love this book and having already read two 5* reads by this author last year, I absolutely had to get my hands on this one too!

Once again, I was completely hooked from the prologue and invested right to the end!

I love a dual timeline thriller which allows the storyline to unfold gradually and the tension to build up, keeping us focussed from start to finish - I honestly couldn't put this down.

This worked so well here as we follow the storyline in the present whilst the backstory fills in the blanks Nd allows us to form our own theories along the way.

The characters were beautifully drawn and the personalities really well presented and developed.

Daniel gave me the creeps at times and I was on edge wondering how things would play out.

Ariana's reinvention was going so well, but you could definitely feel the atmosphere shift as soon as Daniel reappeared.

Crowe has a knack for writing characters that are hugely relatable and easy to connect with - which is why I also just had to feel a little sorry for Daniel too!

This author is fast becoming a favourite for me in this genre and I already cannot wait to see what's coming next.

Psychological thriller and a slow suspenseful burn that's located in the UK.
The mystery was easily figured throughout. A great read for stalker obsessed vibes.
I’m unsure how I feel about the ending, I’m guessing
