Abby stood nervously before her Master in the classic submissive fully nude, legs apart, wrists placed behind her back; deeply ashamed of her evident arousal. Worse, she had to recount in exact detail the proceedings of her last whipping. The whipping had been severe; as was the case with most of the clients she was commissioned to serve. Most of these clients were men, some were women, on occasion a couple, or even a group. Nevertheless her body reacted like that of a wanton whore as she retold of the sadistic punishments and extreme sexual use inflicted upon her body. How far would her Master push her with these ‘tests? How far would Abigail go? How many times could she stand before him blushing; yet with that unmistakable tingle? Their relationship was surely headed for a collision course. Or was it?
This story contains STRONG BDSM. While fully consensual, it includes submission, dominance, sadism and masochism. Blog:
Bio: I know I was born with D/s in my blood. It wasn’t nurture; it was nature embedded in my DNA since day one. During my formative years there was no internet (for the masses, anyway). I scoured magazines like Penthouse or Playboy, searching for any article I could find on BDSM. Later, I got my hands on ‘The Story of O, and a smattering of other kinky novels. I began to understand the difference between consensual and non-consensual, the eroticism of bondage and discipline, the necessity of limits and a safeword, etc. There’s a great quote from Paul Valery, “I write half the poem; the reader writes the other half. These early novels including the Beauty series by Anne Rice spurred my own imagination in ways that movies (such as 9 and a ½ Weeks) could not. Reading lets you add your own interpretive spin on the story or fantasy, imagining it your own unique way. Times have changed, and now there are hundreds of kinky novels out there and a great number of educational websites, etc. I hope my work moves others in the same way that previous BDSM books moved me.
This was a subjective book. I can imagine an awful lot of people will hate it because of what Lewis “made Abby do. But to understand this book and to understand the relationship between Abby and Lewis, you have to have an understanding on what a D/s relationship entails and also what S&M actually means. While it might seem abusive to some, it's not abusive to Abby...it's het "thing".
This is no lightweight spank on the bum bum story. This is the story of Abby who has agreed to be the whipping bitch for the Network and Lewis is the one who decides who she services. Some of the whipping scenes are extreme; there are bruises, marks, bites, burns, sucking stranger’s cocks.but it’s all consensual. I will say I could picture every scene in my head and I can also say it’s not the highest end of the BDSM scale, but it is more than the usual level they feature in books.
At times I felt a bit sorry for Abby as she was at the stage of wanting “more yet Lewis just kept playing with her mind. he certainly tested her and she passed with flying colours.
It was an interesting way to write the book and get all the descriptive scenes in, by presenting it as a debrief.
One thing I might go and check on is the sex of the author. This was definately written more for a man so I'm guessing it was written by a man. I find men can write pure arrogance better than women, women tend to couple arrogance with charm which makes a woman's alpha male so much more likeable than a bloke's alpha male.
I actually had to have a bit of a smirk at the end of the book with the choice Abby made. Lewis portrayed himself as the ultimate Master and yet, the choice Abby made kind of insinuates he wasn’t enough for her, and that did make me laugh and good for her!!
Wow, what a debut book for this author. I was intrigued by the synopsis and when I downloaded the book I was not disappointed.
The author did a great job with the disclaimer, because this book is not for the faint of heart; however, I went into this book with a wide open mind and was not disappointed.
I found this book page-turning, intense and intriguing from the first page and throughout the book. The intensity of the story and the extreme masochistic nature of Abby, the main character, was truly insightful and exciting to read.
I have read many BDSM novels. None of them have them have touched on the raw and explosive nature that Mr. Daltrey has captured in these characters. The development of the relationship between Master and submissive is remarkable and nothing like I have ever read.
The story is fast moving, but you have the opportunity to develop an attachment to the characters. The intensity of the story will leave you flipping the pages to find out more about Abby's experiences and the development of the relationship between herself and Lewis.
As stated, I have never read anything like this and I am in awe of the author and his technique to draw you into a world that may seem to be taboo to most, but is a way of life and desire for many people.
I recommend this book to anyone with an open mind, it is a reading experience that I will not soon forget and has let me see into a side of BDSM that not many have ventured into through mainstream romance/erotic writing.
Very well done Mr. Daltrey...you are a Master of Intrigue and Enlightenment and I look forward to reading many more of your books.
This book comes with a WARNING! It should be taken serious! Read it and read it again and if you aren't offended...then happy reading :)
Where to start??? This book left me so needy, so hot, so sweaty. It definitely left a strong impression. I was captivated right from the beginning and left myself asking a lot of times, if I would do it as well. The way it was written with the episodes was really good and the storyline easy to follow. I loved that it also showed a little everyday life on how to deal with lifestyle.
Would definitely like to read more from Al Daltrey.
Such a great read! Kudos to Al Daltrey on his first book! I can't wait to read other work by this talented author!
Open your mind to all possibilities and know that pleasure can be found in many forms. This book is not for the faint at heart. The reward is a HOT read that will leave you enthralled in the beauty of submission.
Abigail knows she's different. She seeks a kind of pleasure not common in her circles. Her fantasies aren't of roses and slow love making. They are instead, comprised of control and whips. "I craved a strong unforgiving dominant that would put me in my place." She found herself drawn to a man, a mysterious Dom, with a presence about him. Her potential didn't go unnoticed. She had her first interview.
That interview would change her life forever.
Abby finds herself standing before Lewis, her agent. His job, to guide her and test her in a journey of submission. Lewis has a charisma and presence that commands her attention. She takes notice. Questioning nothing he asks of her, she sets out on a journey of self discovery. Lewis will test her and push her to her limits while she receives pleasure from pain in ways she can only imagine.
After each test Lewis brings her back for an interview like no other. Presented before him naked both physically and emotionally she shares her experiences with him. He will accept nothing but complete and totally honesty. Even if it means revealing desires she wishes to keep hidden from his scrutiny.
As the tests keep coming and the interviews progress the connection builds. Can Lewis maintain his separation from her as only her agent? Can Abby continue to find pleasure in pain from others when all she desires his Him?
"I find myself hoping one day it will be Lewis' own hand on the other side of the whip."
To say the least saying this is some hard core BDSM is putting it mildly, but I will say that the author does a spectacular job of getting into Abby's psyche and illustrating her inner strength. She may be a submissive and at times seem very much like a doormat, but she is one hell of a masochist who craves more. Needless to say that ending!!!!! Lewis, her sponsor and master was definitely testing her throughout the novel but it's Abby who surprises us at the end. This book was hotter than hell and crazy at times as well. Definitely looking forward to more!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first thing I would like to say is, if you tend to dismiss warnings or disclaimers on a book DO NOT do that for this book. Al Daltrey was very responsible in providing that information ahead of time and you need to read and comprehend what he is telling you. This book is the most raw & graphic book I have read to date. With that being said, it is also one of the best I have read in a very long time.
The story of Abby, a masochist, unfolds in such a unique way that I felt compelled to follow her through the book to the end no matter how graphic the story was. Abby is not looking for hearts and flowers, she is looking to fulfill the unbelievable desire for pain and humiliation that she cannot ignore. I'll note it again here, the first couple of her dates were hard to read but all of a sudden I found myself drawn to her and could not put the book down without seeing what was next for her.
Lewis is Abby's Dom, or as I saw it her pimp. At the beginning of the story I absolutely did not like the man and found myself cursing out loud whenever it was interview time. However, that faded as the story went on and I was drawn to him as much as I was Abby. By the end of the book I was in love with both Abby and Lewis. I was not in love with the masochist and the pimp, but in love with this beautiful woman and sensitive nurturing man that I had found lied within both of them, behind their sexual desires.
I have read a lot of BDSM books in the past year or so and while some of them provided the hearts and flowers, others were pretty raw and graphic and focused more on the lifestyle. Testing the Submissive, at least to me, did both in a way that no other book has done. "Please do NOT buy or read this if you are offended by graphic sexual descriptions including sexual violence. That being said, I highly encourage you to purchase it and proceed with an open mind. Look past some of the physical acts themselves and you will see something that is wonderful and beautiful between 2 people that absolutely deserve the hearts and flowers we all want!
Let me start by saying this book is definitely different than anything else I have ever read. It is beautifully written and definitely grabs your attention from the very beginning. I loved that it wasn't drawn out and made you wait forever before it got to the point of the book. There was moments when I shook my head and thought maybe I should go back and re-read the section to make sure that was what I saw. But, with all of that being said I have to admit that I did truly like this book! I love a book that pulls me in and is nothing like what I have ever read before. And let's admit. Lewis was Hawt! I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre.
Had this book a while on kindle I didn't know weather to read or not, But I finally did and why I held out so long I don't know Because I was seriously missing out on a great read, I actully found this book totally refreshing, it gives a different View on the bdsm lifestyle..and I've read many in the genre, I will also say I'm impressed as an avid reader it takes a lot for a book to catch my eye. It captured me from the first chapter I really couldn't put it down till it was finished in my eyes it's a MUST read you won't regret it.. I will be following this authors work.
This story was beyond amazing! Very powerful and such a turn on. I had to make sure I was in the right setting to read this because the arousing factor is above and beyond! Lewis is a great Dominant/Master and Abigail (Abby) is the most masochistic and submissive character I have read, as of yet. Bravo Al Daltrey on this book and thank you for having published your words.
I dare you to read this book and not touch yourself. its impossible. This read isn't for the faint hearted, I love erotic reads but this book is the best erotic book I've read. everything abby does is her own choice, nothing is forced, the author has created 2 strong characters who bring to life what goes on behind closed doors in the world of bdsm. Can't wait for the next book.
This is Al Daltrey's first published book and the first book I chose to lose my Al Daltrey, Author, virginity to. I think it was a great choice on my part. It gave me perfect insight into how deep Al Daltrey can delve into a topic, if he so chooses.
Testing the Submissive is full of every masochist/submissive descriptive term I can come up with: humiliation, degradation, unimaginable pain, sexual gratification, demeaning behavior, and yes, even love.
I don't think this book is meant to be anything other than a fictional book that takes a look into the heart and mind of what I consider to be a hardcore submissive masochist. I am certain I could not withstand even the smallest bit of pain Abby endures.
This book introduces us to Abigail/Abby. On the outside, she appears to be what people consider normal. Deep down she hides these hidden fantasies. Dark, masochistic fantasies of being tied up, whipped and other things you will learn throughout her journey with Lewis. Lewis, her Master/Pimp of sorts.
Abby's tale starts with an interview with Lewis to determine what lengths Abby will go through to please him. During the interview Abby does her best to assures Lewis over and over again that she is willing to do anything he asks of her.
Part of the interview:
The journey truly begins when Lewis starts sending Abby out on jobs that will test her willingness and ability to endure the cruelest and most painful of tests. What I don't think Lewis realizes is that this is exactly what Abby craves. What she needs to feel fulfilled. Abby, herself, doesn't even understand it. She seemingly cringes and hates the things she is asked to do but her body betrays her every time. The heat and desire that pools between her thighs, evidence of how sexually charged she gets.
I won't give details of her journey and where it takes her. You'll need to get the book to find that out. If you enjoy BDSM, whether in your life or only in books, you will most certainly enjoy Testing the Submissive. Al Daltrey is a dynamo with a pen and I want more, more, more.
First let me start by saying that I don’t normally read hard core BDSM but this book was recommended by a friend so I gave it a shot. I’ll admit that reading Abigail describe her experiences as a “whipping-bitch to her handler, that pimps her out to a network of clients was hard at times. After each client Abigail would meet with Lewis for a post-interview, where she was required to answer all of Lewis questions. Although hard, I found myself sucked into her story. While reading I felt as if I was reading her memoirs and I became intrigued to learn more about her. Abigail’s situation is tough for this girl to comprehend, but to my surprise Abigail thrives in the environment she’s in and in each situation she is embarrassingly extremely turned on by her experiences and gets as much joy as she does pain from these encounters.
Secondly, you throw in the fact that she is falling in love with Lewis, her handler in this network of submissives, the man responsible for whoring her out to others for their whipping pleasure at first had me shocked. At this point I began to truly understand the confidence and pleasure Abby felt in her role as a submissive, and most importantly, her desire to please the man she saw as her Master. While initially shocked, I am a romantic after all, and I was silently begging for more of their relationship and I was rooting for them with each turn of the page. I was watching their love grow all the while Lewis continued to send Abigail into more trying situations, testing her in new ways. WHAT?! I was elated when they shared an open interview- a heart to heart so to speak- and the confessions in that session.
Thirdly, I read on as the following year was described in such loving detail, satisfying my girly emotions and even arousing me too. This story was filled me with a roller coaster of emotions that was just a fascinating experience. I never expected to enjoy this book as much as I did, so I was blown away. I won’t tell you what happens at the end, because that’s just not right, but WOW! It certainly shocked me, but I’ll stop there. So Bravo, Mr. Daltrey, you have a new fan.
Testing the Submissive by Al Daltrey is a book I wanted to read the minute it was released. The praise by others on Al Daltrey's work is absolutely accurate; Al Daltrey did not disappoint. The author did an AMAZING job in reflecting Abigail's POV. Although I have read quite a few BDSM books, Testing the Submissive surpasses the others. I recommend to anyone, read the description of the book, so you know what you are getting yourself into.
Abigail is a submissive masochist. Lewis, her master/pimp, works within a network of sadists. After every session, Lewis interviews Abby to assure all sessions' details had been applied. As Abby goes through each experience you feel her happiness, elation, pain, sadness and anger. The poignant accounts of her sessions rip at your core as you ingest each emotion, lash by lash.
Testing the Submissive is wonderfully written and helped me understand the thought process and emotion turmoils of a masochist, something that is so far from my personal thought processes and experiences. Well done, Al.
Er....Wow......I haven't read a book this hot in ages.
I love reading books with warning labels on. I like to think I am a very open minded person. I like books that challenge your point of view and teach you something different about the world we live in. A lot of people live in their own little bubble with little interest of expanding their own horizons and I feel sorry for these people. Who knows, maybe I live next door to an Abigail or a Lewis.....not likely.....but if I did I wouldn't judge them for their lifestyle......I found this book incredibly HOT. Maybe it's telling me something about my own lifestyle. :)
I really enjoyed this. Thanks Al Daltrey. I look forward to your future works. XX
I hoped that it would be interesting, but it didn't turn out that way. I didn't care for the author's style of writing everything in a flashback format. Blah blah happened and then immediately describe what happened in a haphazard manner. It's not a long book but a lot of things happen. Yet it's all told in a glossed over manner that doesn't do much for my imagination. There's no depth to any of the characters.
It could have been sexy, etc. It was boring and kinda gross. Some of my friends enjoyed this story but it was not for me.
It˙s bdsm slave/Master thing. I liked that... it`s written in a type of conversation that flows and it˙s quick to read, without too many descriptions and I˙`m ok with it... but somehow it lacks a deeper conection.
Something different and not in a bad way, kinky and sex scene after sex scene... not minding at all....but would loved to have more depth, specially in this type of twisted relationships.
Just as in real life not every relationship follows the same romantic tale. This story takes a different look at the BDSM lifestyle and the kinks that such a relationship is made of, I found them very interesting and profound. At the heart of the story is a woman trying to find the balance of lust and love as a masochist. I look forward to reading more this author in the future.
This book is an interesting book to write a review for. I have been pondering what I will write about it for about a week. I have been trying to come up with words to explain how it made me feel. I'm probably going to end up rambling about different ways it made me feel and all kinds of things. So bear with me.
Let's get one thing out of the way; heed the author's warning that this has extreme BDSM in it. This is not for the light of heart. But if you have and open mind and love the intense stuff, then stop what you're doing and immediately go buy this book.
Ok... soooo ... This was a good book. For many reasons. One, because it was just written really, really well. This book made me feel things, this book challenged me and what I think about sex and what can turn people on. I read some scenes and was a little appalled; BUT. IN. THE. BEST. WAY!!! Does that make sense? No? Yeah, I know ... this is my struggle. Some of the scenes just made me cringe but you get the understanding of how much Abby enjoys these moments. Abby is an extreme masochist and loves to feel the shame that these moments bring and I think that is one of the best aspects of this book; the way Al Daltrey writes makes you FEEL her shame, but you also feel how she is turned on. Reading this book just made me think more than a usual BDSM book. It takes it one step further and really challenges the reader to question what turns them on. How far would you go to get what you want? Do you understand yourself enough to be comfortable in these situations? Abby is and I love it.
Then there is this romance between Lewis and Abby. It has to be one of the most understated romances in a book ever. You hear so very, very little about them, but dear god, you sure as heck feel the romance building. There are a few scenes where they actually interact through a majority of the book and I was so in-love with their love it was ridiculous. It was wonderful!! Maybe, it is built up with being able to feel how much Abby wants to make Lewis happy and proud. One of the first "tests" that Lewis puts Abby through I almost wanted to cry because I could feel her shame. This was a borderline shame that wasn't something that turned Abby one, hence why it was so sad. But at the same time I felt her need to do as Lewis asks and I think that is how the love story is built up. Because I believed it.
Another aspect of the book is how Al talked about consensual and non-consensual. There are moments where most would be in shock at the accepting behavior in their group, but there is a clear line drawn to show what is not acceptable. I am intrigued with the fact that Mr. Daltrey is a Dominant himself. It gives a different spin on the stories; maybe it makes it seem more realistic. I'm not sure, but I do find it intriguing.
I find this book to be one of the most intense, depraved, sexy, and passionate books I've read. It was a phenomenal way to end 2014 and I cannot wait to read Al Daltrey's second book, A Condo With Two Views, when it comes out. I love a book that asks a lot of me to read and this one didn't disappoint. So be sure to click the purchase links below and enjoy!!

Boundaries. They’re tested daily. Often without our permission. And we find ourselves forced into a split second decision of whether to accept or decline, bend or break, give permission or shut it down. Most of the time those moments arrive without warning and we find ourselves having to choose in the moment whether we want to push our own boundaries or stay in the safe zone.
This book is decidedly outside of the safe zone. Abigail is a whipping slut. That is exactly what you think it is. A woman who signs up to be whipped with various instruments at the mercy of the person wielding said instruments. Lewis is introduced as her handler of sorts. As the book progresses we get incredible insight not only into why Abby signs up for such a position, but the developing relationship between her and Lewis. The reader becomes privy to an incredibly intimate journey with this young woman that breaks the typical BDSM erotica mold.
When I was first introduced to the author, Al Daltrey, I asked him to tell me a bit about his book. He said, “It’s pretty much just wall to wall sex. To say that he sold his work short is the understatement of the century. This book is an incredibly insightful view into the mind of a masochist, without judgment, without preconceptions and with an incredible amount of honesty and respect.
While the BDSM community is suddenly in the spotlight thanks to other books, this is one of the first ones I’ve read written with such incredible candor and without any sense of predetermination of morality or lack thereof. I was incredibly impressed with the point of view and straightforward nature of the characters, scenes and relationships. The intense depth of emotion explored served to highlight the more psychological components of this community, which is typically an area left unplumbed.
Daltry has composed an incredibly well written, deeply thought out book, which provides needed insight into the very core of a community that has been sensationalized within an inch of its life. Is it also easy to read and sexy as hell? Yes, absolutely. But I wanted to highlight the deeper elements of this book as I think they’re more than just important, they’re vital. The heat, the intriguing characters and erotic scenes are cherries on the top of a big sundae of insights into human nature and relationships.
Daltry already has another book in progress and to say that I will be waiting with baited breath is an understatement. This author has the ability to single-handedly change the face of BDSM themed erotica and I will be cheering him all along the way.
Alright now, this is definitely "The Grown Ups Table" and I'm looking around wondering how the hell I got here! Seriously, this book was recced to me from a friend and fellow Street Team member who knows what I like. And , I Really liked this book! Its not my sexual preference, but the book was well written - and cast the proper light upon the BDSM D/s, relationship. Seems like everything I've read up to now on that lifestyle was pretty damn vanilla. *With some really pretty sprinkles on top* Must say I was surprised to find it in the female POV - coming from a male author - but Al did a great job hitting that target. I dare say, Al must know this character intimately.
It was tough to hang with our girl sometimes - I wanted to smack her and "rescue her" at times, but staying on the journey brought me to a understanding I never had before, and maybe a little harder pull on that innate response & need we have to be cared for by a man. A capable man. A traditional man. A protector, provider and nurturer. Who Lewis? Exactly - at first I wanted to bean him and throw him out with the trash. But then, I realized the truth about him. How can you not fall for a guy THAT into you & your needs. ( Believe me, after years of disappointment and neglect , being surrounded by men that can barely meet their own needs, or own their own feelings - Lewis is a hot commodity.
I love reading from the male POV - its my "fetish" you might say, so this has left me longing to hear from that big, sexy, Alpha, Dom Daddy, Lewis.
I have a pretty good sense of the Submissive mind set and specifically the masochist submissive, Al wrote, but I wanna get inside that Dom's head - I wanna know what he's thinking, I wanna top that bad boy from the bottom!
The title tells you exactly what you're about to read. Abby is a sub and Lewis is the Dom that will test her in every way possible. Lewis continues to push Abby throughout this book and she doesn't disappoint. Abby not only takes on every test but she enjoys them on some level and then relives it through telling Lewis every detail. It's a very different approach when writing about sex love and relationships. I've read a lot of different books, many books about sex all kinds of sex and this book didn't disappoint. The difference with this read is the author showing you how much your mind plays into your sexual desires. Most books go on ones looks or romantic gestures as the mental build up to sex but not every person is wired the same and things that are considered taboo are not commonly spoken out loud and when they are it's always in a pretty package. Al Daltrey was not afraid to give the raw dirty and dark parts that some people need to fulfill their sexual appetite which is important for a happy relationship and no he didn't try to pretty it up which was refreshing. Sometimes pleasure comes from the act of pleasing another whether or not the act itself is pleasurable and this story if proof of that. If you are looking for something different and can keep an open mind about sex pain and love then read this book. It's fantastic!
Unapologetic testament to a woman who knows what she wants!!
Testing the Submissive was a book a found and went into it with no preconceived expectations. WOW was I shocked. This account of a submissive is not only raw and edgy but completely and totally AMAZING. Abby is a woman that knows what she wants from her sexual partners and is not afraid to go after it. She does not apologize for being different, than “normal, she embraces it. Most books centered on BDSM show the submissive as weak minded and just along for the ride. In Testing the Submissive Al Daltrey shows that not only is there control, but power in understanding your most carnal needs and seeking them out. All too often females in books and the media are expected to be a certain way and fit a model; Abby shows us that you can and should embrace who you are and what you love. Just because your interests do not met the homogeneous ideals for woman that does not mean you are not beautiful and powerful. Abby and Lewis’s relationship is your typical boy meets girl but it shows us that each person can fulfill their needs without giving up part of yourself in the process. Kudos Al Testing the Submissive is brilliant you have a reader for life.
Testing the Submissive lives up to its title. Abby is tested in ways she never imagined. It is an intense read because it takes you on a different kind of journey. The structure is different from most books but it actually makes sense and the story flows. There are times when you just want to slap Lewis for the tests he places onto Abby but he does redeem himself later on. The characters are certainly likeable and you grow close to them. The twist at the end leaves you screaming NOO!!!! Abby, No!!! Or maybe that was just me :D But a small part of you does want to know what will happen. It also gives Mr Daltrey the opportunity to return to these characters and continue their story.
Mr Daltrey tests the readers with his story just as much as Lewis tests Abby. But he has done a superb job. While it might not be everyone's cup of tea, I still enjoyed the story. You are sucked into the plot and can't help but read on and on and on. If you enter with an open mind, you will find an intriguing story that will leave you hot and flustered. A brilliant debut book for Mr Daltrey, go and read it!
I give this story a five star rating for its eroticism and uniqueness. This is one of the only stories I've read that focuses on masochism. I've read many BDSM novels by now, but Abby's story is told from a very different perspective than most. To say that Abby and Lewis's relationship is very different from the norm is an understatement. As weird as their relationship may seem to those who read this book, it seemed to work for them. I enjoyed this story. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it so much because of how erotic it was, or because it was a little outside of the box for me, but I enjoyed it. I will say that while I recommend this story to others, this story is not for everyone. Some may not be able to handle the dynamics of this book because Al Daltrey did not hold back which is another reason why I enjoyed the story so much.
I am amending my previous review based on information the author informed me of. I was under the assumption when I first read this book it was an erotic-romance. He told me it was meant to be a pure sex (erotica) book. With that information I would easily give this book five stars. If you like erotica with violent sex then you will love this book. I think the author does a good job warning the reader about the graphic nature of this story and he is true to his word. This world he paints with his words is believable as are the characters that inhabit it. I also like that the author is a Dom in real life, therefore he is quiet knowledgeable of the BDSM world that helps with the believability of the story. So, to wrap up, if you like violent sex stories with very little romance or information about characters, then this will blow your mind.
Testing the Submissive by Al Daltrey is a book that's in a class of it's own. I have read some BDSM books but Testing The Submissive gives you a different look that you're not going to forget. Abby is a Submissive person and is being put through various tests by Lewis to see if she has what it takes to be the right kind of submissive. Each test is recounted in Abby's interviews with Lewis and each interview is at times dark, highly erotic or both.
The push and pull between Abby and Lewis is a dance that is superbly told by Al Daltrey. He has written a story that leaves you wanting more with each page. What will Lewis have Abby do next and what will her reaction be? I stayed up late reading this and was completely captivated by Testing the Submissive. Al Daltrey has definitely set the bar when it comes to writing about BDSM/Erotica.
I'm still putting this book together in my own thoughts! I have read it twice. My mind and feelings are wrapped around every scene! This is the first Erotica book I have read that went to the extreme Masochist side. I wanted to write a review worthy of Mr. Daltrey's work. I am very impressed. I love the storyline, the characters, everything about it! The depth that the Author went into Abigail's thoughts. I've given this book a 5-star review because I do love this, every line makes me think of my own boundaries I may or may not have. A book should do this when you're reading it; the ability to see yourself within the storyline. Testing the Submissive is an excellent read that will challenge your thoughts. Excellent choice of Pinot Noir BTW :)
I literally could not put this book down and read well into the wee hours of the morning to finish it. Every step of the way I was dying to know what the test was and how Abby would react to it. Many times I yelled at my iPad trying to get Abby to stop submitting and fight back, even though I knew it would never happen. This is because I personally struggle with any form of humiliation or degradation of people. Just my personal hard limit.
At the same time, I was also yearning and waiting to learn more about her and Lewis. what makes them tick, why they are the way they are etc. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars was that I really wanted more character development.
The sex scenes we hot, hot, hot...definitely NSFW reading!
