Derivative of Other Speed Reading Books with some NLP
Read the book in one sitting. Went through the basics of why we read slow. Gives some concepts on reading groups of words and not regressing. Finding a place to read. Many of the techniques mentioned are tossed out there for the reader to try with little more than a few words of instructions. Also, a few pages regarding diet and how high sugar messes with the brain’s neurons. The pros and cons of skimming and NLP are discussed. I’ve ran into NLP with Tony Robbins’s Unlimited Power. Whether real or a placebo depends on what you believe. For me, it wasn’t necessary. At the end of each chapter and the conclusion were links to other books on Amazon. It seems more an infomercial and was distracting from the task at hand. Many of the ideas are derivatives of Evelyn Woods Speed Reading Book and many other countless speed reading books out there. What was lacking was recall. It was mentioned that speed reading without remembering is a useless exercise but little was provided in the area other than a link to another book on memory. If this is your very first book on the subject it’s a good start but there’s no replacing Evelyn Woods book.
This book is a good quick and easy intro to speed reading. The author pointed out issues I have with speed reading and comprehension. A lot of the information is regurgitated.
