2 Smut Scale Stars
I love Alexa Riley.
She is my go-to for awesomely written smut.

1) Too Many Baked Goods.
This is totally unfair and ridiculous, I know.
But this is my fucking review review and this is just how I feel.
I hate reading about food.
HATE it.
As I've said before in my review for Sweet Fall, food and I have a very love/hate relationship.
And I hate having food shoved in my face or being "guilted" by everyone and their mother when I don't want a piece of little Susie's Little Mermaid birthday cake.
I know, I know...pathetic #firstworldproblems.
But them be the breaks.
2) Virgin Overload.
The h is a 20-something year old virgin because ROMANCE BOOK.
Which is fine, I'm used to that, I'll buy in.
But here is where things started to get a little...ridonkulous.
This book is a PNR shifter romance take on Little Red Riding Hood.

This is actually the first book that I read by Alexa Riley two years ago. Since I am a fairytale and shifters� romance junky, I simply could not resist this book cover.
To be honest, I did not expect so much smut; but I did not know Alexa Riley back then. Now, that I have read almost 60 books written by the dynamic duo and I know how smutty they can get, I think that “Riding Red� was actually a kids� bedtime story.
Anyway the story per se is not bad. I enjoyed it a lot and it had a few original things for a shifters� book such as the fact that the male shifter is sexually incompetent and a virgin until he finds his mate.
Dominic is the sheriff of the little town of Gray Ridge, Colorado. Gray Ridge is basically occupied by shifters.
Ruby is a human that has moved into this little town and becomes the owner of Red's Goodie Basket bakery. Clueless about the world of shifters, she will have to catch up really fast because Dominic is her mate and he has to have her before the mating moon is full.

I did this the wrong way round I started with book 3 'The Lost Slipper' (obviously the Cinderella one) and enjoyed it so much I decided to read all four.
This was hot and entertaining, it starts off funny, Ruby owns and runs the bakery and Gwen has been helping her but her broomstick cookies look like dicks.
Dominic is a wolf shifter and sheriff of Gray Ridge as soon as he scents Ruby (despite the fact that she's human) he knows she's his mate, now he just has to keep control of his wolf, hold himself back and somehow let her know he's a wolf and mate with her. So no problem then?
Ruby finds herself attracted to Dominic at the same time as she's annoyed with him. He's always hanging around her bakery scaring customers away, she'll never stay in business at this rate.
It's a full moon on Sunday and that's the day Dominic will mate with Ruby and both their lives will change forever.
"Sunday.� That must be Dominic’s go-to word, because for some reason Sunday is the answer to everything around here.
This is a really entertaining read I also liked that these wolves are all virgins until they meet their mates.

4.5 Oh big Teeth Stars
Riding Red is a standalone and is part of the Fairytale Shifter series. I’m continuing my Alexa Riley reading binge and I actually read this series backwards. You can read them out of order, but I highly suggest you start with book one because the author does build up the secondary characters.
As always, this was a SUPER CUTE BOOK! I absolutely adored it and I couldn’t get enough. The book has a LOOSE Red Riding Hood fairytale theme, but with a paranormal shifter twist. Don’t you love wolves?
Gray Ridge is a unique town, it’s small and has a tight close knit community. Like super close, like so close that the community is mostly shifters. CRAZY, but awesome. Ruby is human and has purchased a little bakery in the town. She can’t figure out why her shop isn’t as successful as the previous owner.
That’s because sheriff and shifter Dominic is scaring away all the customers. Why? Because he has found his mate and it’s Ruby.
Yes, I love it too!
I loved that Ruby was human and I liked that she was kind of thrown into this world. I really like all the set-up Alexa gave me. Like mating during the full moon and marking each other, it’s a fantasy people and I was completely engrossed with it.
The relationship between Dom and Ruby is fast, steamy and addictive to read! I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Try out the series. It may be your next guilty pleasure.

Well, it's no I'm sad to report. I thought it was extremely meh but people seem to love it, so what do I know? It takes forever and ten days to get going and when it does, it's just eh, is that all?
I'm not a fan of the "fated to f*ck, eh, love you and only you forevermore" plot device anyway. Even if I were a fan, this wasn't a good one, if you ask me. Too many words, too much sickly "sweets" talk (gag me), and a hero who is all snarly and grumpy. It wasn't romantic, or sexy or even vaguely interesting to me. It just made me a little grumpier and I had to walk away without reading all of the unrelated "extra" material that filled out half of the content pages. Grrrr.

When Dominic met the woman interested in buying his aunts bakery he knew she was his mate. But also that she was human and had no idea about the shifter world. He can't claim her until the full moon so before then he warns everyone in Gray Ridge to stay away from her.
Ruby was excited to open her own bakery but she feels unwelcome in her new town since the only customers have been tourist, and no locals. But when the full moon approaches she finally gets her answer as to why no locals will befriend her, and they come from a big, growling, wolf.
"Why, what big teeth you have."
"All the better to eat you with."
I've only recently discovered the wonders of Alexa Riley books, but I can't get enough. Her stories are short and so sexy, they will melt your panties right off. Even though the book isn't long, there's still an explanation of the shifter world and I really liked the whole concept of how the wolves could only be with their mate and couldn't get with another woman or man.
This book set up the world and characters perfectly, giving just enough of a hint about the books to come that I had to go get them right away so I could read them next. Bottom line, this book was fantastic and I recommend for everyone. I mean, everyone needs a little smut in their life from time to time ;)

If you enjoy massive muscled men being reduced to fumbling fools, this one is definitely for you.
Some of you already know about my geeky vagina that enjoys retellings of old tales and puns. So no surprise I loved this book and the clever ways in which Alexa Riley incorporated elements from the original story.

I enjoyed this book, but it was way OTT unrealistic.
But as shifter smut it was great!
It had loads passion and hot eventual sex scenes.
ITS ALL VERY HOT!
But, it was not believable at all!

I mean how could hold off on having an orgasm when he finally got her to do the horizontal tango.

I loved this book! I wish it was longer. Totally smitten H! All in from the first time he saw the h. Absolutely no OW/OM drama. I loved both of the characters and thought they were sweet together. Also- the steamy times were fabulous! I didn't care if he was super hairy or mid shift during the sexy times- I still loved him! Safety gang safe

Loved, loved, loved this book! I'm a sucker for a good shifter book with a crazy possessive hero and a human heroine and this book was just what I needed. Like all of Alexa Riley books this hero Dominic fits the bill he is single minded in his want for the heroine Ruby. She is it for him and he doesn't want anyone to so much as look at her. Ruby is smart and strong and I loved her. The story or history behind the shifters was an amazing change from all the men we read about lately who sleep with everything that has a pulse to see who can sleep with the most woman in the universe before they befall to love. Our hero and all shifters are unable to perform, and once they meet their fated mate a simple touch from another female turns their stomaches. Whats not to love? The chemistry between Dominic and Ruby was OFF THE CHARTS and their first heated encounter was amazing. I loved this book and really hope there is a lot more to come in this series. I do wish it was longer but only because I enjoyed it soooooooo much(and yes I need all those extra o's to say how much lol). This story is complete and she even gives us a great epilogue.

My thoughts: Have I mentioned that I love Alexa is not afraid to try new things? She formats her books and delves into different genre's on a normal basis. So huge HUGE kudo's always for her ability to think outside the box without slipping into the normal trope dramas that we see so much in books these days.
Usually I rate her books on a different scale because I typically think they are fetish reads. I give fetish writers a lot more leeway. Due to this being a shifter paranormal with erotic area's I did not rate it like I normally would on her previous books.
You come into the book sort of halfway through. The H and h have already met, he is already obsessed but you have to wait for sexy times until almost the end of the book. Of course there is a reason for this built into the plot line. I LOVED that both the H and the h are virgins and that he could only get hard for his mate.
What I didn't like is that the H came off a little bit like a teenager with his first time. This is usually the issue I have with virgin H tropes. While I don't mind a virgin H and at times prefer it. I want him to have all the alpha tendencies and confidence (reality? Hell no but I like what I like don't judge me). I thought this H was a little beta. Not a normal beta of course, but one of Alexa's least alpha H personalities so far. The format didn't work for me mostly because I love reading the OTT instant love. We read about it in a past perspective way but did not get to experience it.
So in a nutshell.... Alexa you still rock my panties but this one wasn't a favorite.

While I don't mind a virgin H and at times prefer it. I want him to have all the alpha tendencies and confidence (reality? Hell no but I like what I like don't judge me). I thought this H was a little beta. Not a normal beta of course, but one of Alexa's least alpha H personalities so far. The format didn't work for me mostly because I love reading the OTT instant love. We read about it in a past perspective way but did not get to experience it.
So in a nutshell.... Alexa you still rock my panties but this one wasn't a favorite.

I loved it! I enjoyed the story and I have to read the next one. I'm excited to read Xavier and Gwen's story.
The story is about Dominic and Ruby.
She's new in town and she owns the bakery, Red's Goodie Basket. She thought the locals aren't that welcoming to her but only because Dominic, the town's sheriff, keeps them away from the bakery until the full moon.
He's a wolf shifter and he knew she's his mate the moment he saw her but she's human and she doesn't know anything about shifters so he waits for weeks.
Though I like him to be more OTT, I still enjoyed it.
It has a nice epilogue.

Sus libros cortos, entretenidos y sin pretensión de más me han salvado de muchas resacas literarias últimamente.
Puede no tener los mejores libros ni las mejores historias. De hecho estoy segura que algunas de ellas son muy malas y demasiado hot. Pero tienen algo que me hace seguir leyéndola.
Mientras la fórmula funcione, seguiré leyendo sus historias para evitar de esas resacas monumentales que duran meses.
Este libro en particular fue uno de los que tuvo una historia mejor trazada. Obviando el hecho de que hay cosas simplemente increíbles y que hacen que ruedes los ojos cada dos por tres.
Me gustó, adoro las historias de cambiantes y en las 50 páginas que duró, creo que hizo un buen trabajo.

It's official. I love Alexa Riley, the Queen of Smut! I'm always in the mood for her books: short, funny, over the top, sexy as fuck and lots of breeding (I think that's her favorite word). I'm a fan of hers, she's not afraid to write what she wants and what she loves. She writes very short books who are way over the top and sometimes completely unbelievable but she knows it, she doesn't care and I love her and her books for it!
RIDING RED was such a great, quick read. I loved it, I think it's my favorite so far. It's not completely over the top and, you know what, it was actually a good story, I enjoyed it and I really hope she writes a second book because I cannot wait to read Gwen's story.

I love Alexa Riley, and I really liked this book! It was sweet, hot, and so damn funny. My only complaint is I wish it were longer..

As you can tell from the cover and the title, this is a naughty version of the Red Riding Hood. A version where wolf is actually a werewolf and claims the heroine as his own. That's it, there is no more to the story.
Well, this fairy tale was never my favourite so this could be why I have decided to grade this story 2 stars. But also... Hmm... Once she touched him she could have not said no to him? Also rubbing off and not being able to come because he can only find his release with his mate? This and other small details made this read, hmm... Not as enjoyable as other positions by this author.
