I’m a twenty-year-old something born in Montreal, Canada but currently living in Virginia for school. I would tell you want my major is however after two years I still have no idea what I’m doing.
So I’m a writer (duh that’s how you found me), movie enthusiast, and self-proclaimed chef. I love music even though I can’t sing or dance to save my life. (That doesn’t necessarily stop me but you’ve been warned.)
I started Ruthless People the summer of 2013 in hopes of giving myself a new type of love and crime drama. I never knew so many people thought like me! I feel truly blessed to have fans like you all! Writing is my true love and having you all enjoy my words is a dream come true.
★★★★! Childstar, Book 1-3. Hollywood bad boy & American good girl steam up the big screen, but behind the headlines lays heartache & betrayal!
They once dominated their industry; child stars with success after success, awards, fame, fortune and in their teen years an affair that ended with scandal. Now they are back together sizzling up the big screen.
It’s McAvoy…that really is all I cared about when I one clicked this set. I have wanted to read this for quite a while so I was fired up to get all 3 books at once!
Welcome to the world of movie stars, paparazzi and drama! Welcome to the story of two people who literally grew up in the spotlight together. Amelia London and Noah Sloan were two of America’s child star success stories who secretly found their escape from the pressure in one another. Then they grew up and so far apart with lies, deceit and pure disdain for one another.
It is time for America’s Sweetheart and the famous Bad Boy of Hollywood to meet up again. When presented with a shot for new stardom can they put aside their past? Can they handle the EROTIC content?
One thing is for sure…Amelia London is ready for this challenge
This one time sweetheart not only will have to step up her game to play a bad girl but she will have to spend her time with the one man who has broken her
My first kiss? Noah. My first time? Noah. My first heartbreak? Noah.
Even after all of these years, Amelia London was still my kryptonite, and she still didn’t know it.
Oh, wow…it was not going to be easy for this man either! YES! I really loved this read. I loved the tortured souls that Amelia and Noah were. I loved that it was Amelia who was so strong. I loved her push into Noah’s head, especially since she was already in his heart. It may have started as a job…acting in an erotic movie but it did not take long for real life to blend into the passionately driven set. Soon, it was clear that Amelia and Noah were so much more
I really enjoyed this book, especially the first 50% of the book. Now I admit, this got a bit cray-cray toward the middle and end. Somewhere in the midst of making a movie, a suspenseful and dangerous tale took over. IF the setting alone with two Hollywood “it stars wasn’t enough, then the tale McAvoy spun was like watching a true life drama heist! Not to mention…Liam and Melody Callahan…WHAT????
YESSSSS.FABULOUS! I loved the whole train of insanity and the sexy scorching second chance romance that came with it!
‘Even after all of these years, Amelia London was still my kryptonite, and she still didn’t know it.
Well *shakes heads* that was.different…unexpected…entertaining, off the rails and all kinds of mad and we did enjoy it.
We’ve come to expect a gripping and engrossing read when we pick up a J J McAvoy book and we can’t complain about the entertainment factor of this story even if we were left wondering “what the hell is going on? a few times because this was one crazy ride.
“The only love that last in Hollywood is the one we fake and sell to others.
First up we have to admit that we’re not huge fans of serials and feel the lull between books sometimes has a tendency to break the momentum of the story and so we don’t pick them up all that often, most times preferring instead to read the book in its entirety. We do feel Child Star suffered in that way for us and think readers will benefit more by reading Noah and Amelia’s story in its totality when Child Star The complete novel releases on 24th November as we felt by breaking up the books, the story lost its cohesiveness and impacted on our enjoyment by being a little disjointed in places.
‘All of my best memories were of him…of us.
That being said, J J McAvoy certainly did weave one rollercoaster ride here. What we thought going to be one thing turned out to be something else entirely. There were parts we loved and parts that left us a bit flummoxed. There was definitely a lot to take in because there was a hell of a lot going on.
The first book was a terrific start to this series and reiterated why JJ McAvoy has established herself as one of our favourite authors, she never fails to hook us in with her characters and the stories she tells.
‘I loved him to the point of idiocy.
We do love a good Hollywood romance and especially one that loaded with love/hate passion, secrets, lies and sexual chemistry that steams up the pages and Child Star certainly had that and a LOT more but for us the extras didn’t always work and at times became a bit farcical.
The comparisons can certainly be drawn between this book and Fifty but we found that aspect quite amusing, at times it felt like a dark satirical look behind the scenes of film making which was quite intriguing.
Noah ‘the ego has landed Sloan was quite the diverse character, displaying a moody arrogance that made him appear an egotistical cock but that outward persona masked something very deep in this man. Noah may have come across as an arrogant arse but boy was he vulnerable underneath it all. The success and wealth he enjoys belies the secrets and pain he hides beneath the surface and we adored this character as we did Amelia.
“I think the reason we all love Damon and Blair is because we relate to them. After all, there is a sinner in all of us.
Noah and Amelia share a past that stemmed from acting in the same show as children. They struck up a friendship, moved through adolescence and began a relationship that ended very badly. Both bear scars, regrets and animosity towards one another from that time, so when they are cast in the same steamy movie together, a movie based on an intense relationship and a bestselling book..well, how do they put their past behind them and complete this movie and sidestep ALL the obstacles in their way?
‘The director said he wanted this to be tasteful, that it wasn’t pornography. But that just proved how naïve he was. Did he think I could tie her up, punish her, kiss her, and suck every inch of her and make that look tasteful?
Child Star was like reading a fanfiction of a fanfiction. We were always kept on our toes but we did feel the chaos surrounding Noah and Amelia tended to distract from their relationship and the Hollywood vibe we had hoped to experience from this story wasn’t always apparent. We couldn’t even begin to tell you what this story is about…it’s suspense, it’s passion, it’s heat, it’s intrigue and it second chance romance all rolled into one exhausting, engrossing and insane trip! So hop on if you dare!
‘My first kiss? Noah. My first time? Noah. My first heartbreak? Noah.
One thing we do need to address is the editing, or should we say, lack of in J J McAvoy’s books. We’ve been with this author since the beginning, we’re HUGE fans and devour every word she writes and have given feedback about this issue both personally and in our reviews yet the editing in Child Star was once again terrible. We can accept the odd grammatical error here and there but having to go back and re-read passages to decipher what the author is trying to say has become tiresome and annoying and completely takes us out of the moment which is a crying shame because J J McAvoy is a brilliant storyteller yet the poor editing continually lets her and her readers down.
We truly hope it’s something that will be taken into consideration as we receive a lot of reader feedback telling us if it wasn’t for this author’s genuine and brilliant talent they would have given up on her books by now. We would hate for JJ to lose readers and feel the editing issue can no longer be ignored. The day will come when patience runs too thin.
As per the title, the story revolves around two childstars who are now grown up to be quite a disappointment. Amelia London is trying to maintain her good girl image, while Noah Sloan is maintaining a bad boy image. Both of them used to be each other first love. Now they can't even stand to see each other eye to eye, so how the fuck are they going survive in the same movie.
But the main event is not whether are they gonna bang each other again. There is a whole other kind of craziness happening in the background that lead to their break up in the first place. I'm bracing myself for more of JJ's kind of bizarreness coming up. Can't fucking wait.
"How do I look at you, let alone love you, when I can't even love myself?"
What I like about Childstar is the short and straight to the point way J. J. McAvoy told the story. Non of the draggy scene and filler plot. Even though the story is short, I felt the connection between the main characters. They both have fireworks when they just look at each other.
As the story progress, we get a healthy dose of love between Amelia and Noah. Is great to see them together and posing an united front. Even with Noah's little hiccup with the law, it just make them stronger than ever. The only problem I have is I felt sometimes they gone to far while in front of the rolling cameras. I can accept making out and dry humping, but more than that? Hmm... I think there are things that are better reserve for behind close door.
I'm anxious to see more about what would happened after Amelia knew of the secret that Noah had been hiding. A whole load of clusterfucks await the reader to uncover. Brace yourself for a suspenseful right filled with bullets and blood.
In the end, Noah might just need to make a deal with the devil or sell his fucking soul in order to keep Amelia safe forever.
Honorable mentioned for the best cameo ever would be non other than The Callahans. Is great to see Liam and Melody Callahan again, plotting others death, while playing with their son and eating steak.
For those who have not meet the Callahan from trilogy, you don't know what you are missing, especially if you into the whole violence crime and suspenseful plot and not afraid of rooting for the bad guys.
The secondary characters were road kill and collateral damage to the chaos the H and h created in their world.
Given the cover looks just like Kristen Stewart as well as the dynamics of these now grown-up child stars, I had a clear image of two actors. The basic plot is that two has-been child stars will now star in a sexy movie based on a faux FSOG with crime.
Yes, their sex scenes were pretty out there as they mirrored the BDSM/FSOG style movie from book. In fact, the two characters spun more and more out of control morally as they explored the immorality of their on-screen characters. Interesting but not pleasant.
This was thrown out as a series which I hate just slightly more that alternating POV. Yes, I was compelled to read all three sections, but now I need a brain bleach, a shower, I don't know.
Yes, yippee, there is a HEA, but who cares when the two characters earned it on the bones of others?

The first time I picked this book I never thought I would enjoyed it as much as I did but it became one of my favorites.
I really loved Noah and Amelia story and the fact they had to work together even if they hated each other because of their past together. Other thing I really liked was the fact they were actors; JJ got me really curious with the movie plot and I still wished it was really a book it would be so amazing like this one.
𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬: second chance, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, workplace/office romance (coworkers), celebrity (actors), fame 𝐭𝐰: abuse
I have not read many of JJ McAvoy’s books but I must say, they always start off great and pull you instantly and Child Star was no different. Amelia London and Noah Sloan are former child stars but they are also former lovers, but things didn’t end well and they now find themselves playing the lead roles opposite each other and the movie that is being made from the best seller book Sinners Like Us. There are still a lot of emotions between these two, you can feel the chemistry the moment the two of them are in the same room. Neither have moved on past what happened to end things so many years ago and Part one of this book was really great, I really enjoyed where the author took this story. Yes it had a bit of a fifty feel to it but the storyline of the book was completely different from that of fifty, it just felt like we got a bit of a glimpse of what things would have been like on a movie set for a bestselling book that was loved by millions of fans. Both Amelia and Noah have a great dynamic, you can feel the chemistry and the connection and you can’t help love when fireworks fly from these two, it’s explosive and it’s hot.
Although just as part one was coming to an end and part two began, this story started to go downhill for me, first the story took a total unexpected turn and one that just felt too unrealistic and for me just didn’t fit with the storyline. And from there I found the story to go back and forth between falling flat to way to much happening and I really started to lose interest to the point I began to skim parts, especially the sex, it just felt like the same thing over and over again and for me just wasn’t adding any value to the storyline.
I really wanted to continue to love this story after getting sucked into it in Part one but Part had me struggling with it and once I got to Part three of it, It just got to be way too unbelievable for me to enjoy it. The author is a great writer and I love her stories but this one seemed like way to many different storylines all thrown together and they just didn’t fit. Also, although I do normally love this author’s stories, they are always enjoyable to read, I am finding the one aspect to her books that seems to be a constant issue is her editing, or should I say the lack of editing. Normally when reading an ARC for review I do not comment on editing, but I have read a few published books by this author as well this one has already been published and they all have had way too many editing errors and not small ones that you can look past and I know I am not alone in this thought, I just hope the author starts to listen soon, as her stories are very good but the lack of editing are really hurting her in the end.
I rated this separately as three books, so please see those separate reviews.
I liked the series as a whole, with liking the first two more than the last. We have some angst, some steamy times, some suspense, some true love, and a HEA ending.
Wowza. I thought J.J. McAvoy was writing a contemporary second chance romance. I was expecting the passion and heat, but not for everything else that was part of Childstar. The story was riveting and delightful, a true page turner.
Noah and Amelia are thrown together again after many years of being apart. The two worked together as children and fell in love at a young age, yet their happiness didn't last. Now that they're working together again on a project that will elevate their careers into the stratosphere, they've got to find a way to work together and leave the past behind. Of course that's easier said than done.
Noah is stubborn. He loves to antagonize Amelia, but you can tell he really regrets what happened between them. He cares for her, but isn't willing to let her know. Initially I wasn't a big fan of his. He was cocky, mean, and had broken Amelia's heart. As the story progressed and he became the narrator I learned not everything was as it seemed, and by the end of the book I was head over heels in love with him.
I loved Amelia from the very beginning. I loved how she protected those she loved and cared for. She was also kind to everyone around her, which is another trait of hers I admired. I liked how even though working with Noah was going to emotionally wreck her, she was determined to it nonetheless. I initially thought while Amelia was a great actress and person, she was weak when it came to standing up to people and things that made her unhappy. I was glad to see her become stronger and more confident as the book continued.
Besides the story being told from Noah and Amelia's alternating view points, I absolutely loved the flashbacks to the past. They really gave me great insight as to what had happened to them and how deep and sincere their relationship had really been. Plus it allowed us to see what Noah and Amelia may have missed when they were children under the control of others. I also loved how the story kept me on my toes.
Like I mentioned earlier, at the heart of the story is a second chance romance, but there are so many other themes that it's hard to classify this book as belonging to any particular category. There's romance, humor, angst, action, mystery, suspense, erotica, etc. This book made me laugh and cry. It also allowed me to see Melody and Liam again, which was fantastic! I'm glad to see they haven't mellowed with time. Not only did I get to visit with old friends, but I also got to make new ones. This book has complicated story arcs but they all come together wonderfully and leave a lasting impression. Well done J.J. McAvoy!
OMG I loved this! It was a quick read and so intriguing, so hot and swoony. Amelia and Noah’s past heartbreak is affecting their on going movie filming, secrets are being revealed and the romance blooms again on the set the hottest way possible.
My first kiss? Noah. My first time? Noah. My frist heartbreak? Noah.
Amelia London is America’s sweetheart. She’s been acting since she was a kid, with Noah, and after her big break she turned to indies while Noah Sloan America’s bad boy turned to other stuff. They are both struggling with post child fame, both in different ways. Noah turned out to be Hollywood’s bad boy which he fits for the role perfectly and Amelia turned to indies but she’s still only getting recognized for her child role breakthrough.
With both their careers suffering, they reluctantly agree to do this movie together, even if Amelia is not a favorite among the fans in the book, but of course Noah is loved.
“I was nothing. If I didn’t act, I was nothing. It was just that simple.
They love-hate one another and after they both agree to do this new movie based on a book (will over look the similarities to popular stuff because oh well) their on and off screen romance gets a little messy. Noah is swoony, in a broken dramatic bad boy way, but still swoony.
“Even after all of these years, Amelia London was still my kryptonite, and she still didn’t know it.
And Amelia was tough on the outside but sweet on the inside and really brokenhearted over their break up.
“Our relationship was doomed from the start. The only love that last in Hollywood is the one we fake and sell to others.
These’s a lot of third party drama happening especially towards the end but I expected some pretty heavy drama and was not surprised, also I’d totally read Sinners Like Us!
The first book ends with a cliffy and the two books that follow are packed with drama and suspense as well as secrets but most importantly, these two characters that while they are filming, they have to handle all the drama life throws at them. Plus, there’s a special guest star so to say and I kind of love when authors use their characters as guests in their novels. *cough*Melody*cough* And OMG I loved that part, I missed Mel and if you haven’t read Ruthless People, you should! As you should read Childstar, because the sweet drama

These three books was so so so amazing... it totally captivated me and I'm sitting trying to remember what happened in which book.
'Even after all these years, Amelia London was still my kryptonite, and she still didn't know it. I couldn’t think straight around her. My body reacted on its own around her. My heart, too. It was Amelia’s world, and I was just trying to survive in it.'
Amelia and Noah were childstars, and also a couple. Noah was Amelia's first everything, but when Noah broke Amelia's heart, try started hating each other with such passion... that was until there career's were both in jeopardy. Sinners like us, was a popular book and was becoming a movie, which was the key to saving their careers. What they didn't know was that this movie was going to change everything with and around them, forever.
'Do you have you ever loved me?'
The only thing i hated about this book was the fact that Melody and Liam were in it. Don't get me wrong it was perfect that they were in it, but I had only finished Ruthless people and now I know what happens.
Overall these three books breathed a little life into me and i am so grateful.
Childstar is a fantastic book about two people who have outgrown who everyone expects them to be. Amelia is the good girl and Noah's the bad boy, but what they really are is two people who are looking for more in both their private and public lives. Sinners Like Us is the move that will change everything for them. Once upon a time they were together and each other's first loves. Those expectations of others and Amelia's crazy mother broke them apart. And I mean crazy mom. Stage mom on steroids just to clarify. What they realize working together is that there is still definitely a love between them. They have so much to overcome, but once they are together nothing can stop them. They are scorching hot. I enjoyed their story.
it was good, but there were situations that i really dont understood and didnt believe. I think that to be separated for so many years and all the baggage that the maim couple had, it was TOO easy to come back to the same. I mean, i get it, they were the Love Of each others life, but it felt too rush, at least for me.
At the part 3 were situations just too unbelievable, is like just too Ruthless People for me. I think this story could have been more its own history, insteas crossing parths and almost become RP.
I didnt know about all the violence happening in Chicago, i researched and it was scary how many people dies over there and all the corruption happening.
This was definitely a different storyline than I'm typically accustomed to at times it made it feel like too many different situations were taking place. The reason for 3 stars is due to all the grammatical errors in this story. There were too many areas where there were words missing in a sentence or extra words that didn't belong or words in the wrong order. Normally I can bypass a few inconsistencies but in there thus particular story it deters you from enjoying the actual story. This isn't a debut novel for this author so it's really frustrating that there that many errors.
Such an amazing book! Loved every dramatic minute of it. I cannot commend this author anymore than I already have, knowing her writing is this good. I simply can't wait to read her next upcoming novel for 2016. I loved this book and I can see it becoming a movie or television series. I can only imagine what that would be like if Shonda Rhimes was directing it too. This book had me in my feelings, I went through so many emotional plot twists and suspense turns that I couldn't comprehend what to do next. An awesome read, would highly recommend it to thrill seekers and romantics like me
