I always loved to read and throughout my childhood I could usually be found with a book in my hands. To the disgust of my friends, I even enjoyed creative writing assignments that made them all groan. But I had other dreams besides writing. I wanted to be an actress or a teacher or a lawyer.
Life took a different turn for me, though, when my mother made me take a journalism elective in high school (thanks, Mom!). I knew the first day that this was where I belonged.
After I graduated from college in journalism, I took a job at the local daily newspaper and I reveled in the challenge and the diversity of it. One day I could be interviewing the latest country music star, the next day I was writing about local motorcycle gangs or interviewing an award-winning scientist.
Through it all -- through the natural progression of my career from reporter to editor -- I wrote stories in my head. Not just any stories, either, but romances, the kind of books I have devoured since junior high school, with tales about real people going through the trials and tribulations of life until they find deep and lasting love.
I had no idea how to put these people on paper, but knew I had to try -- their stories were too compelling for me to ignore. I sold my first book in 1995 and now, more than 30 books later, I've come to love everything about writing, from the click of the computer keys under my fingers to the "that's-it!" feeling I get when a story is flowing.
I write full-time now (well, as full-time as I can manage juggling my kids!) amid the raw beauty of the northern Utah mountains.
Even though I might not have dreamed of being a writer when I was younger, now I simply can't imagine my life any other way.

This book was a freebie from Harlequin on Christmas Eve. I was in the mood for a sweet small town holiday romance, and SNOWFALL ON HAVEN POINT was just what I was looking for. Sheriff Marshall Bailey is laid up with a broken leg at his sister's house, recovering from a hit and run. With his family out of town, his sister's friend Andie is saddled with caring for the stubborn, grumpy man. While Marshall's wounds are physical, Andie is dealing with emotional ones, starting with the death of her husband two years ago. Along with the developing romance between Marshall and Andie are two intriguing side stories, including the mystery surrounding the hit and run. This is the fifth book in the Haven Point series. I read the first one a couple of years ago, and now I want to go back and read the rest. I love RaeAnne Thayne's realistic, relatable characters and cozy small town settings. Enjoyed.

I always love going back to Haven Point, the small fictional town that RaeAnne Thayne created and it was good that this year, we had two entries of this series.
We met Andrea and Marshall from the previous book, , which was released last June. Andrea “Andie� Montgomery is a single Mom who ran away with her kids to Haven Point, to escape from her rapist slash stalker slash his deceased-husband’s partner (yes, than man was THAT disgusting). While Marshall is the older brother of Wyn Bailey, the heroine of that book.
I loved Andie’s development in this book. I thought she had come a long way to overcome her fear as well as her devastated feeling after losing her husband and then experienced that horrible rape. It was not easy for her, knowing that she could fall in love again with a law enforcement officer like Marshall. Basically, everything good as well as bad that happened with her previously more or less had something to do with cops. Since she was helping Marshall in this book � after he was run down with a car � I thought Andie’s concern was justified.
I enjoyed Marshall’s progress too, from being a grumpy, not-needing-any-help-thanks man to open himself with the chance of happiness. I loved his interaction with Andie’s kids (they were ADORABLE, by the way). I also loved Marshall’s approach, albeit tentative, to his teenage son � whom he never communicate for the past 13 years due to � circumstances � I thought he did just fine there.
Aside from the romance � which is another clean one, just kiss, no sex � there was a mystery bit regarding who ran Marshall down. I admit that I couldn’t guess who it was so I thought the resolution was pretty satisfying. Plus it gave a chance for Andie to show that she could kick some ass.

I enjoyed this story a little more than her previous book in this series. I think a lot of people will enjoy this holiday romance with a side of a suspense. It's well written with likable characters (Ms. Thayne's specialty). It had a few day to day meanderings which I have a tendency to skim, but overall it paced well and I enjoyed this one.
I look forward to the next book in the series...

I swear each book in this series gets better than the last! I loved the characters of Marshall and Andie and her kids. This book tugged at the old heartstrings more than once. A great holiday read and a great entry to a truly enjoyable series.

This was another "pot luck" selection included in that mystery lot I purchased. I guess the "mystery" qualification was trying to figure out who tried to kill the Police Chief. However, this was clearly a shrewd attempt at producing a Hallmark type story line. This was a quick read and wasn't bad for what it was.
Andie does a favor for her friend, Wyn, by agreeing to look in on Wyns brother who was injured in a hit and run accident. He happens to be the Police Chief of her new home town. The story is about learning to open up to another after some heavy duty trauma, and for another to learn to open up for the first time. I was in the mood for something this "sappy" and now on to the next pot luck selection.

So close to a 5 stars. I really enjoyed this!
This was more than a Christmas story. It had real deep life issues that were handled really well.
I really liked the characters and in particular the romantic relationship. Their maturity and communication was excellent and it was refreshing to read.
There was not a faith aspect to this story but it stayed clean aside from two moderately described make outs.
Overall, a really great Christmas story and I would be interested to read more from this author!

RaeAnne Thayne’s stories touch deeply in the heart and soul of family life. For those unfamiliar with the HAVEN POINT series, we get to know Andie Montgomery in the previous book, RIVERBEND ROAD. SNOWFALL ON HAVEN POINT reads easily as a standalone, but I recommend reading RIVERBEND ROAD first because I think you’ll appreciate what Andie overcomes in this book more if you’ve read her history.

Andie and her children suffered trauma that led them to restart their lives in Haven Point. They didn’t fully escape what they were running from, which means they’re all in a state of healing when this book begins. Andie seems a bit too perfect of a homemaker and mother in the beginning of the book. I wondered if it was a façade, or if she was truly so pulled together after what she experienced. Watching her develop as a strong woman who isn’t afraid to reach out for what she wants, even when fear should hold her back, says a lot about the love she has to give.
Marshall Bailey is battered by a hit and run driver so he’s laid up with injuries. His sister Wynona is away at college and insists that Andie see to Marshall’s comfort. Andie owes Wynona her life, so she pushes out of her comfort zone to help a man she barely knows. Marshall is grumpy with his circumstances. As sheriff, he’s normally active, so he’s annoyed that he can’t even work to resolve who tried to kill him. Andie’s offer of assistance and her adorable children wear Marshall’s gruff exterior down and we begin to see his heart.
I think what I enjoyed most about this book is Andie’s character transformation. I began to see her bravery and determination reveal itself in her interactions with Marshall. Andie seems timid and a pushover in the beginning. She surprised me with her spunk and resourcefulness. Marshall is the least likely man to draw Andie’s attention, so it’s fun to watch her test their budding friendship.
The only thing that seemed a bit off to me was Marshall’s lack of concern toward his life being threatened. He wants to know who tried to run him down, but he leaves his door unlocked and doesn’t seem to wonder if they’ll try something else. He might have been fully confident that he could protect himself, but it’s something I wondered about until his protective nature became more apparent with Andie and her children. Everything else about Marshall as a law enforcement officer is spot-on personality wise, so it could have been his confidence and lack of fear for himself that left him unconcerned about locking his door.
Andie’s children have a primary role in how she and Marshall relate to one another. The children’s simple approach to the holiday gives this couple no other choice than to spend more time together. I don’t think Andie or Marshal would have pursued a relationship as fast if it hadn’t been for the children’s influence. Those who appreciate cute children in a story will enjoy these young siblings.
A very sweet story trimmed with holiday traditions, SNOWFALL ON HAVEN POINT by RaeAnne Thayne will please fans and newcomers to the series.

This is part of a series and relies heavily on characters from the previous so it's probably a good idea to start there. Having done so, you know mostly what to expect with the characters and setting and author's style of romance so I'll keep this on the short side.
I enjoyed this story immensely. Andrea is awesome and it was fun seeing her confidence grow as she got some distance from the trauma of her past. I particularly liked how she handled falling in love with another law enforcement officer—someone dedicated to protecting others and in a dangerous job where she'd have to accept the same risk he does, even if at a remove (i.e. the risk of him being injured or killed on the job). And Marshall was cool, too. I always love a tough guy with a kind heart and he has all that and more. I particularly enjoyed seeing him fall for Andy's kids.
My only complaint is that it felt a bit scripted, at times. Or maybe too easy? There were a couple situations that felt a little too ideal and cases where things just happened to fall out into the best-case scenario (like with ). I didn't mind it falling out so well as the drama from more pessimistic results would have been a drag, but that doesn't mean it didn't feel a bit too simple sometimes.
The end result was a solid four stars and a very enjoyable read. Really, Andy and Marshall are awesome, and Thayne depicted the kids very well, I thought. Their reaction to Marshall's inherent kindness just melted my heart and seeing Chloe respond by coming out of the shell she'd erected from the scary events of the previous book was outstanding.

Andrea Montgomery has had a rough time but she is putting her life back together (We met her in the last book when a starker came to town and found her). Sheriff Marshall Bailey is having a tough time. When someone tried to run him down he ended up with a broken leg and having to stay home. Of course Andrea is the one asked to look in one him, a task she would just as soon skip. Don't you know it is a set up for a great romance but not one that runs smooth. At first there is Marshall's really bad attitude. Then there are Andrea'a fears and the danger stalking Marshall. That leads to more complications than any one needs. A good addition to the series using two characters we have met before.

I feel with each new book I make my way through it faster and faster. They are just feel good and addicting and I’m enjoying how this book and the one prior added an element of suspense to them.

This was another great visit to Haven Point, just in time to celebrate Christmas in the small town. Andie is a relative newcomer to Haven Point. She and her children were secondary, yet important, characters in the previous book (Riverbend Road). There we saw that Andie grieved the death of her cop husband, and fled from a dangerous stalker, hoping to start anew in Haven Point. When her stalker followed her to Haven Point, it was her new friend Wyn who stepped between Andie and danger. So when Wyn asked Andie to keep an eye on her brother Marshall, Andie felt she couldn't say no - even though Marshall intimidates the heck out of her.
Sheriff Marshall Bailey was the victim of a hit-and-run driver, leaving him with a badly broken leg and a forced leave of absence from work. He's hurting, hates feeling helpless, and just wants to be left alone. He's also convinced that the hit-and-run was no accident and wants his chance to find out the truth. This makes him quite grumpy and uncooperative when the lovely widow shows up at his door.
I loved Andie's first visit to Marshall. He was rude and recalcitrant, doing his level best to discourage Andie from following through on her promise to Wyn. But Andie had a pretty good stubborn streak herself and refused to be scared away. She didn't yell or threaten; she simply refused to be run off. It was fun to see him realize that he wasn't going to win and finally give in. Over the next few days, Andie and Marshall developed a tentative friendship.
I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Andie and Marshall. Underneath the growing friendship was also a simmering attraction, something that neither one was happy about. Marshall was convinced that he wasn't cut out for a family of his own. Because of that, he tried to keep his attraction buried. For Andie, having lost her husband in the line of duty, she wasn't interested in taking that risk again. I loved seeing Marshall's crusty exterior soften, especially around Will and Chloe. He was so fantastic with them. I loved Marshall's protectiveness during the tree episode, and how he insisted that Andie and the kids stay with him. It didn't take long for Marshall to discover just how much he yearned for the situation to be permanent. But Andie was still unwilling to risk her heart on another law enforcement officer. I ached for Marshall as he put his heart on the line and Andie pushed him away. Her eyes were opened to her feelings in an unexpected way, and I loved seeing her display the courage she didn't know she had. The epilogue was great and showed just how much all their lives had changed in a year.

He was certain it wasn't an accident and believed it had to do with an investigation he was involved in. It was easy to see his frustration at the lack of progress and his own inability to be as involved as he wanted to be. He also had some problems happening inside the department, adding to the possibilities for the attack on him. The resolution of the attack was unexpected and heartbreaking. The second issue involved a secret Marshall had kept for many years. He's haunted by the consequences of his actions, and unsure how to make it right. It was interesting to see how quickly Andie figured it out and tried to help him work through it. That resolution had a much happier ending.

Andrea is a cops widow and it has been a couple of rough years. She moves to Haven Point with her two young children to start a new life. The sheriff lives next door and is on leave since someone ran into him with their car. He thinks it is a an inside job. They gradually fall in love.

I liked it but its the same basic plot line too many romance authors use, so it wasn't very original nor interesting. Andrea Montgomery lost her husband, and all she wants is for her young children to enjoy their first Christmas in Haven Point. Andie's friend asks a favor—to keep an eye on her brother, Sheriff Marshall Bailey, who's recovering from a hit and run. Marshall is still grouchy from his accident and isn't very grateful for his beautiful new neighbour's help.
This story could have been more fast-paced if it had concentrated more on the present day events. Instead it keeps talking about the past happenings we already know from previous book. Susan Elizabeth Phillips write very good series - each of them are standalones. She's not re-telling plot of previous books but I get to meet characters from previous books, find them interesting, thus it makes me want to search for previous books and read them too. Not so with this series! Too many fillers, too much telling, little happening or developing the characters.

I have fallen in love with the small town of Haven Point. I just love all the characters and how they come alive. Makes me feel like I am right there in the story with them. Each new book in the series is even better than the last. I loved every minute of the book. Love the way the residents watch out for each other and help each other when needed. A great Christmas romance story with a few surprises. It would make for an awesome Christmas movie!

Anche questo libro mi ha conquistato e il finale ha fatto sì che abbia deciso di dargli il massimo dei voti. Magari la storia non è emozionante, ma lineare, però l'ho trovato molto dolce. Era proprio quello di cui avevo bisogno in questo momento, per cui è stata una lettura piacevolissima.

But as Chloe and Will bring their joy and happiness for the holidays into Marshall Bailey's house, the kids and the widow find a way to melt and borrow their way into Marshall Bailey's heart.
Such a lovely story, RaeAnne Thayne has done it again and again, delivering a sweet, warm Christmas romance that just tugs on your heartstrings and stays with you long after it's done.
I love her books, her writing and her characters. They are perfect to turn to during the holidays. Snowfall on Haven Point is a slow building romance set in a cozy small town with characters that just touch your heart. I loved both Marshall and Andi and the way she and her children have managed to bridge that chasm and fix what was once broken in his life.
The only thing that I wasn't a fan off was the whole reveal of the hit and run. I kind of saw it coming, but it made me what and huh and I could have done without that. I was expecting it to be a bit more, but because this is a book on the lighter side - it makes it understandable really. We don't really find out what happens to that person at the end of the book either, but I think I am okay with that.
I enjoyed the pace of the book. I felt that it moved just right, especially for a holiday read as we move into discovering a secret that Marshall is hiding and how he steps up to the plate to fix his past mistakes.
If you are looking for something to read this Christmas, do not discount Thayne's work lightly. She does an amazing job creating a clean but, wonderfully sweet romance that makes it perfect for the season. I highly recommend it.

My Thoughts...
This was another good series of the 'Haven Point' fifth series which deals with Andie Montgomery and Sheriff Marshall Bailey. We find that Andie a widow is a newcomer to Haven Point with two children and a friend of Wyn Bailey who has asked her to 'take care of her older brother while she and her family are out of town.' All Andrea wants is for her children to have a wonderful and safe holiday in their new home at Haven Point, however, she can't say no but it is made quite clear that this isn't what Marshall wants. He was definitely a 'total curmudgeon' and used to being in control. Now why is that? Definitely both Andie and Marshall were 'polar opposites.' Marshall had been hurt by a hit and run and has a broken leg and he just wants to find out who is responsible.
There will be some mystery that will come out with what all has gone on in Haven Point. One dealing with what had happened previous to Marshall and I will stop here and say you will have to get the rest from this good read. I liked how this author puts these two together...one scared from a stalker and the other one not being receptive to having anyone help him. This will be a beautiful story of 'love, intrigue and people with secrets.' What will happen as these two are forced to spend the holiday together due to a blizzard? I also liked how this author was able to draw in such intriguing well written characters that will keep your attention all the way through the story as you are captured in the spirit of this town of Haven Point where caring is so evident 'even the good and the bad.' It was wonderful seeing 'how these two people helped each other strengthen their weakness.' Would I recommend this heartwarming story? YES!

Absolutely loved this story! I was hooked from the very beginning. I highly recommend this or any book by RaeAnne Thayne. I have never been disappointed any any of her books.Seeing Andrea realize that she has more courage than she thought that she had and was able to help the sheriff when he needed her.

This one was fine, but it could have been shortened by at least 25%. A lot of the background information on each character seemed unrealistic. But it was what I asked for - a sweet Christmas read.

This was a wonderful contemporary romance with a small town holiday setting. Although this is part of a series, I was able to jump in with this as my first book with no difficulty. This can be read as a standalone, but Haven Point is such a charming place filled with great people that I want to return via other books in this series.
This really had so many great elements. The main characters were likable and relatable, and came across as adults willing to face their difficulties. Sheriff Marshall Bailey and Andrea "Andie" Montgomery are a strong and fabulous couple. The setting was an appealing and scenic town. I particularly enjoy stories set at Christmas time and this was an excellent backdrop for this story. There were cute children and pets who added to the story without being awkward or forced. The supporting characters also added to the story.
This had some secondary storylines with some grit which added to the emotional appeal of this book and created a bit of suspense. I truly enjoyed this book. I received this book as a giveaway from RT Book Reviews.

Snowfall on Haven Point is the newest installation in RaeAnne Thayne’s Haven Point series. And just like its four predecessors, this book provides its readers with a warm, small town community that has the ability to believe that helping neighbors and healing hearts is always important, especially during the holiday season. This story provides a more in depth look into the character of Andie Montgomery, whom we met in Riverbend Road, as she struggles to move on while assisting her neighbor and local Sheriff, Marshall Bailey, after an unfortunate hit-and-run accident. Marshall is initially unwilling to accept the fact that with a broken leg and a forced leave of absence from work, he needs assistance, which arrives in the form of Andie courtesy of his sister Wynona. Andie and her kids politely push their way into Marshall’s home and heart, giving him the courage needed to heal and face a secret from his past to make amends. A surprise snowstorm provides the perfect backdrop for a full-blown romance between these two character, presenting them with the opportunity to open their hearts to a future together in Haven Point.
RaeAnne Thayne continues to prove just why her stories are so endearing to readers everywhere. RaeAnne Thayne never disappoints. There is just something about the way she writes small town romance that is like a big hug on a bad day or a warm throw and a cup of hot cocoa on a cold one.
Snowfall on Haven Point, the fifth in her Haven Point series, is no exception. In this book we get Andrea Montgomery’s love story…those who have read the series in order will remember her as she featured prominently in Wynonna’s story. However, these really can be read out of order and still be thoroughly enjoyed.
Andrea is a great character with a lot of depth due to her previous experiences. When called upon by a close friend (Wynonna) to help out with her brother who’s been laid up due to a broken leg…a smoldering fire begins. Of course both sides fight the attraction as one would expect…but we all know we’re going to get an HEA here and I’m not spoiling anything by saying so�
It’s the fun of the journey that makes this book. From getting to know Marshall, who presents with his own backstory and challenge, to holiday decorating with Andrea’s adorable kids, to the genuine warmth and Christmas spirit exuded by all in Haven Point…This edition in the Haven Point Series is a winner.
We also have the added bonus of a little mystery in the mix as well. Thayne does a great job of mixing in enough smaller storylines to make the world come alive and feel real without overwhelming the main storyline or leaving us feeling as if the book is too contrived.

Liked this, didn't love it. It was enjoyable, but by no means the best in the series, despite my liking the couple (as always) and the cute kids. I'm just never a big fan of a character who doesn't want kids or a family suddenly doing a 180 by the end of the book and deciding that kids are the best thing ever, if only he'd known. Bleh.
I'm equal parts sad that I'm at the end of the series (so far) but at the same time I think it'll be good to take a little break, because these books are all roughly the same and I was getting just a little tired of RaeAnne Thayne having every male in her books use the "I want something I can never have" excuse for ignoring romantic feelings. That was getting a little old.
Also, the logistics of Marshall being on crutches were also conveniently forgotten every now and again. He did things that I am pretty sure are impossible if you're hobbling around on crutches, but that's a minor quibble I guess.
Still like these books a lot, though, so I was glad to see she'll be returning to Haven Point!

Small town romances are my favorite and as soon as I heard about Snowfall on Haven Point I knew I had to have it. I have enjoyed each book in the series so far so I knew that this one would be a winner.
As soon as it arrived on my Paperwhite I started reading and in 24 hours I was done and already missing Haven Point. I just love this story! Andrea Montgomery has gone through so much and for her to get a HEA with Sheriff Marshall Bailey, well that just made my day! It took a lot for them to get there and this story even had a bit of a mystery to it as well. I found it so enjoyable and so very hard to put down!

I am really enjoying this new to me author. Her humor and emotions are just enjoyable!

Snowfall on Haven Point is the 5th book in the Haven Point series by RaeAnne Thayne and tells the story of Andrea Montgomery and Marshall Bailey. When Andrea is roped into checking on a friends injured brother (Marshall) she never imagines she'll begin to fall for the grouchy, stubborn man she barely knows or that her and her kids may cause the ice around his heart to actually thaw this christmas season.
This was my first experience reading any work by RaeAnne Thayne. I had heard nothing but good things about her and her work, and she is even friends and is recommend by another author that I enjoy, so I decided I had to give her a shot-Let me just say I'm so glad that I did!!
Not only was this a christmas story-win, a romance-double bonus, but it included two adorable kids. Also, this story was beautifully written and quickly pulls the reader in and doesn't let go until the end.
I completely plan on reading both more of this series and more of Thayne's other work in the near future.
*While I do wish that I would have read this series in order, it isn't something that I think is completely necessary at this point.*
