2.5* generously rounded up 😂 and spoilers ahead

This was actually pretty interesting but a bit too juvenile for me. I kept waiting for the heroine to grow a backbone and start kicking bad guy ass but she was the definition of a damsel in distress. The only sexy times were in her dreams. The h and secondary characters were ya, Grim was hundreds/thousands of years old but acted like he was in his 20s. I'm not invested enough to move on to the other books, I barely made it through this one

Melanie Rose sees ghosts, ever since being attacked and marked by an unknown entity back when she was nine they have been a constant nuisance to her.
Now turning eighteen these ghost sightings have turned Into something more sinister and Melanie is left battling for her life against an unknown assailant.

Killian is her only hope, not human but something other he has vowed to protect her.
Discovering he is actually the Grimm reaper only scares Melanie further but he is the only one with the strength to shield and maybe stop what is coming for her.

I’ve read this author before and she is a firm favourite of mine.
This was one of her earlier works and though I still enjoyed it and I am planning to read the rest of this series it wasn’t quite as gripping as I have found her later scribblings.

This did have quite a juvenile feel mostly I think because of Melanie herself who did come across as quite immature.
The majority of her decisions seemed to be based on pure emotion rather than any logic that she would be better off employing.
I mean her refusal to allow Killian to take her someplace safe so as not to endanger her loved ones further was just plain selfish and says more about Melanie’s own wants than anything else.

I liked killian and the fact that he was the Grimm Reaper was really cool but I also don’t think we got to know that much about him on a personal or emotional level and I think that was my main issue here that the characters themselves were not as in-depth as I’ve come to expect from this author.

This was well written but there was just something slightly missing.
The chemistry was also slightly off for me though I’m invested enough to try the second book I’m also hoping maybe this will improve with the second instalment.
This did have some imaginative ideas so for the moment I’m reserving my judgement until I’ve learned more as I’m still slightly on the fence.

Bare bones plot with juvenile writing, lacking substance.

The main character has no real role here. She has no clue what's going on. She's a damsel in distress for the entire book. Which is fine but she doesn't even push back about anything. Everything and everyone just happens to her.

I just finished Til Fear Do Us Part and I am in love.
Never have I been so invested in a story, clutching my seat, biting my nails in anticipation!

This story gave me chills, I was reading in the dark and I will admit some parts of this story scared the living day lights out of me!

Melanie Rose, a young girl who has a special ability.
She can see dead people.

But it wasn't always like that, she was normal once. But that all changed one day when she was marked with an X on her chest by a demon.

Now she can see ghosts, but they don't harm her.
That is until her eighteenth birthday!

Hordes of demons, ghosts, and strange creatures alike are after Melanie, but why? and who will save her?

In walks in, Killian.
Bad to the bone, has a job to do and that is to protect Melanie at all costs!

He also goes by the name of the GRIM REAPER!

Melanie and Killian form a bond.
One that would seem crazy, if not dangerous.
He is death, has the power to take your soul to heaven or hell!

But sure enough feelings develop and Melanie can't get enough of Killian.

He is a man that would do just about anything to keep her safe, by any means necessary.

But soon when things are all fine and dandy things start to get strange.

Melanie starts having vivid dreams of her first time with the Grim himself.

Can their newly found relationship last?
Does Killian care for Melanie or her power?
Where does Ryan fit in all of this?

Read to find out!

* I will say this right now, this book is my top read of 2016! It was excellent. Had just the right amount of horror, angst, and of course romance. I can't wait to dive into the next book and see what happens next in Melanie and Killian's story. *

Holy Cow! What a brilliant story! It's been a while since I've gotten so wrapped in to a book! I would have read it in one sitting if I'd had the time.

This book has everything!Demons, Ghost, Horror. Humor. Mystery. Paranormal Romance. Strong Characters.

The heroine, Melanie, is a bad ass! And if she was a real person (she would definitely be my best friend) Even after everything she was going through, she didn't come off like some whiney. obnoxious. chick. Like the ones you see running from the monsters in horror movies, then trip and get gutted! Yeah, this wasn't Melanie!

Killian is the hero/protector and he's dangerous, dark, and delicious! But he’s Death. a.k.a "The Grim Reaper!" I swear, every time he made an appearance (I was literally grinning like a school girl) My new book bf!

Couldn't get enough of the characters! They seemed very real which is sometimes hard to find.

Michelle Gross, you frickin rock! Thanks for writing an awesome, intriguing and terrifying page turner.

This series is a definite must read (for any paranormal romance lover) Highly Recommended!

Off to read book #2. Wink.

My Thoughts - Story
I had the honor of reading and proofing this debut novel by Ms. Gross. This is a fast paced, adventurous story that had me sitting on the edge of my seat while reading. Once I picked this up, it took a lot for me to put it back down for a break.

Now, don’t get me wrong, there was a little that I didn’t like, but I’m told that will be rectified in the following books to come.

Yes, Killian is bad ass and Melanie should be panting after him, but call me the lover of the underdog and I think her attention should lie elsewhere. I understand why the author did what she did, but that doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it.

I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that the next book makes my wishes come true!

Re-Cap
Melanie is special and she doesn’t know why something or someone is out to get her. All starting at the age of nine and coming to head on her 18th birthday, she has a horde of demons, ghosts and anything from the underworld coming after her.

With the protection of Killian (Grim), she dodges these attempts on her life and those around her.

I just love finding new books by indie authors. So when I saw this book on another blog and read it's synopsis, I was incredibly intrigued and it was pretty much calling my name. Well Michelle Gross has a new fan girl on board because this book was spectacular. It's dark, romantic, suspenseful, and mystical. Just what I love about my books, and what's even better is that it's a freaking series.

Melanie Rose is almost your average teenage girl, well except for the fact that she can see spirits. Thanks to a terrifying encounter with a supernatural creature who marked her as a child. I found Melanie to be very bold and courageous, especially when it cam to her family and friends. I like having her voice narrating the story.

Just when things can't get any stranger in comes in Killian or rather the Grim Reaper. Who knew that death himself could be so attractive. He is handsome, mysterious, and can be quite intimidating, but he's also protective and charming. I loved the relationship that develops between Melanie and Killian and I was definitely rooting for them. Of course things aren't easy for these two and all hell tends to break loose quite literally. It kept me turning the pages to see what would happen, not to mention the little twist that Michelle adds in the end. It has me completely ready for book two.

Hooked

I downloaded book one and two at the same time and I'm really glad I did! I'm already in love with Killian\Grim and at the same time scared for Ryan! It makes you WANT to keep reading. If a writer can do that, then they are a damn good writer! I'd say more but I don't want to spoil the book ;)

The synopsis had me intrigued and the storyline didn't disappoint. The only problem I have with Til fear do us part is that it ended.
I was so caught up in the storyline, I didn't want it to end. I need to know what happens to Killian.
If you enjoy paranormal romance give Til Fear do us part a go.

Melanie can see ghosts which makes her kind of a social outcast at school, but luckily her two best friends love and believe her. As her eighteenth birthday draws nearer, she starts to see things that she isn't supposed to and it all seems connected to the X mark she got when she was a child. Enter Killian, her stalker/protector, the Grim Reaper tasked to protect her from the threats on her life.

Gaaaaaaahhh i don't really know how i feel about this book...

I didn't really like the MC, at first i thought she was okayish. But then she got really boring and quite dumb. I guess i get that sometimes we like a damsel in distress and then the hot male lead swoops in and saves her but too much is too much!!! She was in CONSTANT need of saving and she kept putting everyone in danger. It was like she couldn't even think for herself, she was perfectly content with being pushed around because she knew there would always be people to save her.

Killian was drool worthy for sure, As soon as he showed up, i was like Heck Yeah!!!! I found his protective side really alluring and he was by far the most intriguing character in the book!!! I can't spoil but i did really get swept up in the sub plot around his character. There isa kind of love triangle but i thought that the two male leads were the best characters in the book! So the two stars go to them!

I wasn't really swept up in the plot in the beginning. The book started out with a nice flow and it got interesting but then the middle was a bit dull and then it picked up in the last chapters for the climax! I did really like those last chapters and that's what earns this book a third star!

I still don't get the whole "vessel" thingy. We find out at the beginning that the MC is a vessel and that demons want her but we don't know what a vessel is or does. I think the plot could have gone a lot better!!! All we know is that Melanie is special but most of the book was focused on all the characters wanting to sleep with someone! So the story kind of followed that line of thought and we totally left behind the plot at the beginning. I know this is a series and we'll probably find out more of what Melanie actually is later on but this was too much of a plot deviation for me.

I was kind of put off with the huge amount of grammatical errors! I don't mind a few, but when it's so prominent, it really gets on my nerves, It breaks the flow of the reading and i found myself spending more time correcting the sentences in my head then actually keeping up with the story.

Not really for me so i don't think i'll be continuing this series...Or maybe i will because the last part really put a twist on things...but for anyone who wants to give this a try i think it's still on Netgalley! Maybe some of you guys would enjoy it more than i did :)

Michelle Gross' take on paranormal in this novel is intriguing to say the least. Melanie plagued with seeing ghosts, strange people stalking her, and the spin on demons and the grim reaper are brilliantly done and a great break from trope.
I loved the development especially in the story. Michelle managed to do an incredible job bringing each character into the story with depth and honesty. I craved more of each characters story.
And can we take about Grim... I mean? We aren't supposed to root for him right? But ugh... I need more Grim for reallllll!!!!
So, if you truly enjoy a well developed paranormal experience within the pages of a book, grab this book.

'Til Fear Do Us Part (A Grim Awakening #1),by Michelle Gross

A really great paranormal read, that's different from the norm.

Melanie has learnt to live with the ghosts for a very long time, everyone at school thinks she's strange.

Without giving anything away as the story develops we learn so much more and then there's the need to know even more !

Michelle has done an amazing job with the writing ...transporting you fully into Melanie's world with that unknown twist. Looking forward to starting book 2 ... already on my kindle!

I picked this book up in mid-August, read the first couple chapters, enjoyed it, but then life happened and I abandoned all my reading for a few weeks. I came back to it last night, re-read the beginning, and ended up reading for hours - well into the night. I had to know what was going to happen next!

*Unpopular opinion*

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for giving me an arc.

This is the first book of a new year to be, unfortunately, 'dnf'd. I couldn't finish this book, I stopped around 60ish%? and I'm surprised I even read most of it. The amount of grammatical and spelling errors really bothered me. There was to many to even count. It wasn't formatted properly, either, I had two separate lines of character's dialogues. It felt really unfinished. Just too make sure, I also got the finished copy from amazon and was surprised it was the same.

The main reason I had high hopes for this book was because of its cover and the synopsis. It sounded like something that would be right up my alley. I was disappointed with this book.

This was in the genre recommended for teen/young adults and for the above spoiler(^) I don't think I would put it in that category. Maybe it's just me but the main character, Melanie, did not seem like a teenager to me, more of a childish tween. Add to the fact she reads 'erotic' novels but thinks school books are boring. I didn't like her. Actually, I didn't like anyone in the book. As the book progressed, the dialogue got worse, I hated the dialogue and the writing, the mentality of these characters sounded so amateurish for their actual ages. Then, like I previously mentioned, the grammar got worse, there were so many errors the book started irritating me-and I'm not exaggerating.

The plot started having shortcomings as I progressed. The idea slowly dwindled into three? guys and one horny girl where it was important to have her related to sex and being some 'Vessel' (which I did not understand) into one drama.

Shall we talk about the Grim Reaper, I think he's the main character. Oh, God. He probably was a tad better than Melanie but the things he said (hence dialogue/writing) were terrible. He beat around the bush until I was annoyed. He stalks her, but about halfway through the book he's says what he really is here for.

To sum this review up: there was a lot of errors, the plot a fail where I had no idea what was going on, annoying characters, and unwarranted explicit, mature scenes, I won't be reading the next book in this series.

Melanie was attacked when she was nine years old by something very evil and ever since she can see ghost. She doesn’t talk about seeing the ghost anymore that she causes more heartache than she wants or needs. Seeing the ghost has haunted her life ever since and on the night before she turns eighteen it only gets worse. She now has the ability to see more than just ghost. She sees things that are not or shouldn’t be real but they are or are they? Melanie thinks she is losing her mind until a very tall dark and handsome dude steps into her life and he reveals what is happening to her a little bit at a time.

Melanie is torn between this new guy in her life and a guy from her school that she has known since she was a little girl. All he has ever wanted is to be there for her and keep her safe and maybe a relationship but Melanie is not sure how she really feels about him. She knows she cares a lot about him and loves him but is that enough? And now after this new guys shows up she is really, really confused.

But Melanie has more on her plate than trying to figure out who she likes the most at this time in her life. Melanie has to figure out how to stay alive and to keep Fear a way from her and out of her life forever. She is so tired of always being afraid. She wants to live a normal happy life whatever that may consist of and keep the people that she loves safe and alive. The only way to do that may be to face Fear head on and all by herself.

Can she face Fear and survive? Will she always have Fear on her back? Can she save the ones she loves the most? Can she keep them safe? Find out by reading Til Fear Do Us Part I don’t think you will regret that is if you like reading about ghost and the supernatural. Til Fear Do Us Part is unlike any book I have read before. I have read books about the Grim Reaper but nothing like this one. It is set apart from all the others in ways you can never image. It will have you guessing from start to end. You will be on the edge of your seat for the whole ride. Come on and take a ride on the Fear train.

4Stars****

Melanie is more than just you’re typical teenager she can see spirits.

Due to an unexplained encounter when she was only 9 years old, Melanie has been able to see spirits. That day she was marked with a cross on her chest, but she has no idea why or how much danger is coming her way due to that mark. Now that it’s her 18th birthday, strange and dangerous things start occurring.

Killian, a mysterious, brooding stranger. More well known as Grim Reaper, is responsible for Melanie’s safety. The more time the two characters spend together during this time, the more they fall for each other.

But the Grim Reaper can’t love, can he? Even if he could, hes sure Melanie only wants Killian and Not Grim.

I loved the relationship that developed between the two characters. The story was easy to read and follow. Its a different genre from the usual book I read most often, but I really did enjoy it.

I can’t wait to read the other books in the series. I need to know what happens after the run in with Fear. Also with Grim and Killian’s bodies forcibly detached from each other?? I NEED to know.

Great read!

Wow.. Such a great read!

I would definitely suggest everyone who loves the supernatural world and a dark, strong, sexy bad boy to read this book..... It's aaaaammmmmaaaaazzzzing! Like most good reads there's two love interest one being the all-American boy whom ever girl swoons over. The other being that dark sexy bad boy that suddenly and mysteriously pops into your life leaving it forever changed. And then there's Melanie A.K.A the girl who sees ghost lest just say she's got a lot to contend with. This book has it all! What an amazing imagination and talent this author has. I can't wait for book 2.

One of the best books I have read. Reading isn't my favorite past time so a book has to be great to keep my attention, and great this book was. It kept me guessing and interested to the last word. Killian's character was very well written and I loved the development of the characters throughout the book.
