New neighbor Chad Lawson seems too perfect. At least to Rebecca McKaslin, who's been burned by a Prince Charming-type before. Worried, her loving family supports her time-out from romance. Yet, as Rebecca gets to know her handsome, churchgoing neighbor, his reliable, friendly nature challenges her resistance to relationships. Soon, she wonders if God put him in her life for a reason. Should she accept this rare gift and risk her heart again?
Jillian Hart grew up on her family's homestead in Washington state, where she raised cattle, rode horses and scribbled stories in her spare time. After earning her English degree from Whitman College, she worked in travel and advertising before selling her first novel. When Jillian isn't working on her next story, she can be found puttering around her rose garden, curled up with a good book and spending quiet evenings at home with her family.
Whereas in the last book of this series, we had seen Danielle throughout each of the previous books, I feel like Rebecca wasn't mentioned nearly as often, so I was glad to get a chance to know her through this book. I definitely identified with her: especially being afraid to let anyone (even her sisters!) get too close for fear of being hurt. I'm glad that she was able to face that fear with God's help and was able to accept the wonderful plans He had for her! 3.5 stars
Like other reviewers have mentioned, this was an okay book. I enjoyed it for the most part. There was a lot of back-story dumping in the first chapter that the author tried to disguise as dialog, but it made the first chapter a little tiresome. I kept reading, though, and liked parts of this book, while other parts were a bit slow.
I had t0 find a book in the category of "A book I'd never read" so I chose a "Romance Novel". I read this and I will never read another Romance Novel again. My apologies to the author -but this book was trite and boring.
OK read. Nothing I'd repeat. I have read other books in this series And enjoyed them. This just seemed dull/boring for lack of a better word. a lot of fill in words that were not necessary. I have read others in this series that I enjoyed, bur this one did not do it for me. To be fair I did read it a second time just to see if it improved. Nope
This is Rebecca's story, and I enjoyed reading it. There did not seem to be as much for Rebecca to overcome as some of the previous McKaslin clan seemed to deal with, and I think Chad's story could have been expanded a little bit, but it was still a great, enjoyable, quick read, and a very sweet, clean romance.
This book was good for reading when you dont want to waste many brain cells. The plot is simple-ish, the characters typical, and the ending, predictable. A nice book.
I really like Jillian Hart and love the McKaslin series but this book was not as good as I was hoping it to be. It just wasn't up to par with the other books.
