No Match for Love #6

Mistletoe Match

Rate this book
A kiss shouldn't be this complicated.

When Michelle Collins accidentally walks into the men’s restroom at a holiday party, she doesn’t expect it to end with a toe-tingling kiss under the mistletoe. But the magic of the moment quickly dies when she realizes the mystery man is Austin O’Neal, the new marketing director of the pharmaceutical company she’s sworn to destroy. Michelle will do anything to protect animals from unfair lab testing even go up against the first man to make her feel alive.

With the ink on his divorce papers barely dry, Austin is struggling to help his three children adjust to a new town as he tries to adjust to a new job one that comes with a lot of baggage that Michelle helped create. Falling for the strong-willed animal rights activist who is ruining the company image is definitely not in the plans.

When Michelle’s dog is hit by a car and Austin is the unexpected hero, their perceptions of each other and the causes they fight for are challenged. Can one impulsive kiss be the foundation for a happily ever after?

I received a free copy of this book via Audiobook Boom.

If you enjoy clean romance that's a tad bit preachy, this is your gig. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. This seemed to be more of a call to arms for animal rights animal activists than a romance novel. I found both characters to be overly judgmental and impulsive. The writing was sufficient and parts of the story were really touching, but overall this just wasn't my thing.

I'd like to add that I'm all for protecting and caring for animals, I just don't want to learn how to be a militant animal rights activist in my romance novels. So, no shade!

Audiobook review: This book is narrated by Tiffany Williams. She did a fantastic job. Subject matter notwithstanding, I enjoyed her performance.

Another great read in the No Match for Love series. Michelle is our main female character and was actually in a previous book in this series. Michelle used the Toujour matchmaking services in an earlier book and was matched up with Luke. She had one date with him, that frankly, was a bit of a disaster. I really didn't care for her in that book. But my opinions have been changed after reading her story. She's a little strong willed and opinionated, especially in the previous book. But Mistletoe Match explains it all as we really get to see more of Michelle's life and her thoughts and reasoning.

This book is definitely about perception. What do we see and how do we assimilate the information given. Especially when it is just what we see and think but not all the facts are available. A lot of problems can be solved if we didn't jump to instant conclusions from our perceptions. I think that pretty much sums up this book (and many other books too). Two great characters, they meet, have a falling out and then are placed in many circumstances that they must work together amicably. The angst and tension was well written and placed at great points throughout the story.

I will say that my favorite part was quite possibly the first meeting between Michelle and Austin. Loved it!!!! Michelle is not quite herself, she's trying to be daring and after running into this handsome stranger she decides to throw caution to the wind and really talk to him. Austin is amazed at the beautiful woman and the instant sparks. When they find themselves under the mistletoe he hesitates, but only for a split second. Yep, sparks fly and then reality comes crashing down! There were several great scenes between these two. I really liked both characters and the way they put aside their personal opinions to help each other. A real and lasting love is worth the sacrifices and Michelle and Austin have to decide what sacrifices they are willing to make. Especially when their personal beliefs and opinions, or work are at complete opposites of each other. If I were ranking them, this one would be my third favorite in the series.

Really fun. And one I'd recommend for a fun Christmas read, or really anytime read! Cute family, cute dog, some crazy moments, and some sweet and swoony moments. It's almost mistletoe season everyone!!!

Content: Clean. A few kisses but nothing further.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Very cute novella! I didn't have much time in between review reads so this was the perfect fit. I needed something light and fluffy to warm my heart before heading into my next book. Lindzee Armstrong is one of my favorites and I'm always on the lookout for a new book by her. This was a fun one and it made me smile.

4.5 stars. This is the latest book in the No Match for Love series. I've read them all and this is one of my favorites. I felt for Michelle when she accidentally went into the men's room because I did that once at a Walmart. I wasn't tipsy from champagne like her, but it wasn't my regular Walmart and I didn't notice the bathrooms were flipped opposite of "my" Walmart. At least I got out of there without running into any guys coming to use the facilities, unlike poor Michelle. Back to my review--So Michelle and Austin aka "bathroom guy" go for a walk in the garden at the hotel where each of their respective Christmas parties are taking place. They end up standing under some mistletoe and "to avoid bad luck" they kiss. It's all uphill from an amazing kiss.
Michelle hasn't had the best of luck with men and Austin was married for 16 years when his wife (Victoria) left him and their 3 kids for her personal trainer. Austin recently accepted a job as a marketing director for a pharmaceutical company (that still uses animal testing) which required a move to California, so in addition to dealing with their parents' recent divorce (and their mother's lack of interest in them) they also had to adjust to a major move and new schools. I really felt for these kids and loved how Michelle interacted with them.
Michelle is a teacher who's a vegan and also a member of Their Only Voice, an animal rights group who just happens to be targeting the pharmaceutical company where Austin is employed. Back at school following the Christmas party she gets a new student--Sydney, Austin's 7 yr. daughter!! Can Michelle's life get any more complicated?
Both of the main characters are very likable. Michelle is great with kids and loves animals. She rescued her dog when she was just a puppy, made blind by cosmetic testing. Austin is a great dad and a good guy who doesn't speak ill of his ex-wife in front of his children (even though she totally deserves it) and follows his gut and put his job on the line when things didn't seem to add up at work. They both jumped to conclusions about the other based on each of their previous failed relationships, but then decided to talk it out, and admit to it instead of throwing a possibly great relationship out the window.
The Their Only Voice people got on my nerves. They were all over her for the picture of her kissing Austin when she didn't even know who he was at the time, and expected her to risk her job when she had to accept the donation from Austin at the school assembly, but didn't bother to call or check on her when Bella was hit by a car and she had to make the painful decision to let her go. Meanwhile Austin sends her flowers and went to the shelter to find her another dog because he knew how upset she was.
Loved this story and I can't wait for the next book in the No Match for Love series.

(4.5 Stars) What is more romantic than stumbling into a handsome stranger and ending up under the mistletoe? Michelle has been burned by love and Austin is coming out of a bad marriage. They each have trust issues, yet they are willing to work through them for the sake of their instant attraction.

Michelle is an animal lover, a vegan, and very active in an animal activist group. Austin is the new marketing director for her sworn enemy, a company who tests on animals. While this story touches on important topics, I felt it moved past that and I learned that as hard as it can be, it is possible to separate a person from an action, or in this case, aÌýbusiness.

On the emotional side, I was actually brought to tears during part of the story. I relished the romantic connection these characters shared. And I adored the way they each interacted with the O'Neal kids. Austin is an amazing dad and those kids are his main concern, as they should be, but when it comes down to it, he's a very good man. Michelle has an invested interest in them as well and is a very spirited woman, one who gets very emotional involved and attached. Although they're both quick to jump to conclusions, I love that they learn--trust is key.ÌýThe magic of the mistletoe strikes again and leaves the reader with an overall satisfaction.

Content: mild romance (kisses); mild violence involving animals.

Really cute holiday novella!
I liked how Michelle and Austin met and how everything was stacked up against them. They had to get over their personal prejudice and realize some of their convictions were wrong before they were ready for the relationship with each other.
It was an enjoyable quick read.

A small detail, but mistletoe berries are white not red. :)

4.5 stars. I listened to the audiobook this time around. I thought the narrator did a wonderful job with all the characters as there were several male voices in addition to several female characters.

This is one of my favorites in the series. If you've read any of the previous No Match for Love books you may remember that Michelle went on a date with Luke Ryder that didn't go very well. Michelle is the main female character in this book.

Michelle and Austin have the most awkward first meet ever--when she accidently goes into the men's bathroom. I felt for Michelle when she realizes that she's in the men's restroom because I did that once at a Walmart. Romance, Clean, while part of a series, can be read as a stand alone.
This was a cute read. I started out kind of wondering if I this was my kind of read, due to some drinking in the opening scenes. I was pleasantly surprised as this turned into an introspective, romance, with passionate characters (passionate about their values, beliefs, and desire to be honest and forthright). Loved the issues that were explored. I firmly believe in doing good, and this definitely showed the main characters examining themselves, their motivations, and how they interacted with each other and the community and public at large. Some cute coincidences, nice family, and lots of chemistry and pull towards each other. Definitely would recommend this! I think of all the series this is my favorite of her novels!

A sweet, clean romance from Ms Armstrong's stable, this book has all the ingredients for a good romance. Michelle and Austin meet in the men's room and ultimately end up in a passionate, albeit anonymous, kiss. Thereafter, their paths keep crossing putting Michelle in the unenviable position of having to make choices. As a strongly motivated animal activist, Michelle cannot tolerate the pharmaceutical testing of animals being carried out by Austin's company, but she learns that she cannot condemn the man without taking into account his character. As tensions rise, Michelle is caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place, as fellow activists try to force her to take a stand against Austin, and Austin finds he has to rethink his company's policy on the treatment of animals. However hard Michelle tries to avoid Austin, she finds that one way or another she has to interact with him. Through it all, the attraction between Michelle and Austin is almost tangible. One feels sorry for Michelle as she has to stand between the warring factions, especially as Austin is the kind of caring man she needs in her life. Although this book is part of a series it is nevertheless a standalone and has a very satisfactory and believable ending. It is well written with no obvious typos or mistakes, which always adds to ones reading pleasure. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This was a pretty thin romance novel all in all.

There was way too much emphasis on the Animal Activists and not nearly enough romance. Some aspects should have been developed - such as the children and their relationship with their feckless mother - and some should have been severely shortened. The 'animal testing' plot didn't work for me. I thought it was far too hefty a topic for what should have been a seasonal romance and quite a lot of the characters were pretty unpleasant as were a couple of incidents.

This was supposed to be a Christmas romance, but it didn't have a Christmassy feel to it - a mention of visiting Santa's Village etc, but there was no real sense of the season.

Such a sweet holiday romance.

After Michelle and Austin shared their first kiss under the mistletoe, she ran away. Fate kept throwing them back together due to their jobs. Despite the forces that threatened to keep them apart, just as many kept pulling them back together.

Michelle and Austin were so sweet together and I loved his kids. Together they made the perfect family that I really hope we see again in a future story.

This is a cute story that has a bit of a Christmas undertone to it. I loved the whole plot, but one of my very favorite parts was when Michelle walked into the men's restroom. So funny!

I liked Michelle, but I will admit that some of her friends and even some of her ideas seemed a bit fanatical to me at first. She's a member of an animal rights group, Their Only Voice, and while she doesn't always see eye to eye with every member she does believe in their ideals of saving animals. I really didn't like the way that her group thought they could control who she would or wouldn't be friends with or date. That part really kind of annoyed me and I was thrilled with how she reacted later on in the book!

I liked Austin. I liked that he was trying so hard to be everything to his kids, after a rough divorce. I liked that he was honest and truly thought that he was doing what was right for him and for his family. But I really liked that when things didn't turn out to be what they had appeared he was honest both with himself and with the authorities, even though he knew it would cost him a lot.

This whole book is cute, I loved all of it!

A clean romance that is set around Christmas time, but the Spirit of Christmas or the holidays doesn’t shine. It really could be set at any time of the year. I was expecting a Christmas romance, but it didn’t live up to that expectation. Dealt with finding love again after divorce, dating with kids and animal testing. Yep- lots going on for the characters to deal with.

Another fun, sweet listen added to the No Match for Love series, but while a great listen it does have some definite serious issues! We meet Michelle who never takes chances, but when at an office party, in the bathroom, gets the kiss of her life under the mistletoe. Austin, newly divorced with 3 children is not looking for love, but his connection in this kiss is so strong, he wants to go for . These two have definite chemistry, but is it enough to keep them together? Austin is a great character. He is a loving father, wants the best for his kids and has a good moral compass. Michelle is active in animal rights and we will see some clashing. What I love the most about this book is things are not always as they seem. Not all women are the same and not all men are, and these two work through some real life issues to come to that conclusion and find their happily ever after.

Tiffany Williams continues the narration of this series. She is one of my favorites and I find each of her narrations original and refreshing. She finds the specific quirks of the characters and brings them out in their personalities. Her voices are unique and easy to distinguish.

I have read this author's books before and they are all enjoyable. This one is no different. It’s an easy read and a great way to start the holiday season. In the book, Michelle Collins, is a school teacher and animal rights activist. She loves being a teacher and fighting for animal rights. Meanwhile, Austin O’Neal has just received a job at a pharmaceutical company, has moved to the area with his three children and is trying to get settled. He attends a party to start meeting people while MIchelle is her best friend plus one. For some reason, Michelle goes into the men’s restroom instead of the women. There she meets Austin and after a little embassament, they go for a walk and under the gazebo they kissed. Michelle thought she would never see him again, when he walks into her classroom with his daughter who is her new student. Not expecting to see him again they do start to see each other and get to know each other. But when she finds out she works at a pharmaceutical company that uses animals for testing she’s not happy. He has to prove to her that that is a good man and she’s the one for him and his children. Once again, the author wrote an entertaining read.

Michelle and Austin

Michelle is an advocate for animals and Austin works for a pharmaceutical company that still uses animals for testing. What happens when these two meet? Michelle is at a Christmas party with her cousin Hudson and has had a little too much champagne! She leaves the table to find the ladies room and as she's finishing washing her hands she's interrupted by a man - ok a glorious looking man! Before she realizes she's in the wrong place they have a wonderful conversation and then go for a walk in the hotel gardens. Then just as they are both trying to tell themselves that they really should get back to their respective parties, Austin notes they have stopped under some mistletoe. So they neither want bad things to happen to them so they kiss. They can neither quite understand what happens next, but, are blown away. Michelle does the only thing she can think of and that is to run away neither know the others name and never expect to see one another again. What happens when Austin takes his 7 year old daughter to school on Monday? You will need to read this great story by Lindzee Armstrong to find out. You wont want to put it down!

Sweet and Tender

Lindzee Armstrong really has a way with writing a sweet love story. If you're into hot and trashy scenes, this is not for you. However, if you want a good story that will make your heart smile, you will enjoy Mistletoe Match.
Animal lover Michelle meets Austin at a chance encounter in the men's restroom where they are both attending different Christmas parties. Instant attraction has them taking a walk outside which leads to a kiss under the mistletoe. Both are shaken to their toes by what they feel, so Michelle runs away.
As it turns out, that's only the beginning. Austin is a divorced father of three who is a marketing director for a pharmaceutical company. Michelle is a teacher who is very active with a group protesting the testing of drugs and cosmetics on animals, one of which is the company Austin works for.....and, Austin's youngest daughter is in her class.
So, grab yourself a good cup of coffee and settle down for a happy ending with a lot of laughs and twists in between.

( I received a digital copy of this book. Thanks to Lindsey Armstrong!! )

A sweet romance story.

She spotted a restroom and slipped inside, claiming the first empty stall......
“Uh, hi, a deep voice said beside her. Michelle jerked, splashing water all over her dress. Why was there a man in the women’s restroom? She giggled and backed against the sink. How embarrassing for him. Restroom. What a weird word. It wasn’t like there were chairs to rest on. Something white caught her gaze—porcelain. Why were there urinals in here? Crap.

I like this scene. It is very embarrassing for someone there but Michelle had quite some champagne in her system. And then it was very nice of Austin to not disconcert her further. He infact tried to assure her that this wasn't so bad and stuff. I guess that speaks quite a lot about him.

“Don’t worry about it. I walked into a women’s restroom at the airport last week. Happens to all of us.

They both have this good sense of humour and make a lovely pair. This is a nice read. Simple and sweet.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily provided an honest review. Another great book in this set of books ive read the set in a few days and havent been able to put them down.
This one was a bit close to my heart as Michelle saved her dog Bella from being tested on by a pharmaceutical company when she had a job there she stole the dog and left, my dog i had came from a puppy farm bless her.
Michelle met Austin at a party only she had had a bit to much to drink and didnt realize until her photo showed up in a local paper that he worked for Wellsprings Pharmaceuticals. The next day he showed up with his little girl who was starting school in her class. Her also had 2 other children.
The story unfolds and its about 2 people that have a to learn to trust each other and both come with a lot of baggage issues that they have to iron out. But its a real heart warming story about what 2 people will go to for their beliefs and their family. Really well written

Overall very entertaining and enjoyable. A quick, easy, sweet and clean HEA romance. Little bit of a different take on the backgrounds of the two main characters. Kind of a politically correct statement going on in the story regarding animal testing. It gave the story a bit of a more serious tone at times.
3.5 stars

Even though this book is part of a series it can absolutely be listened to as a stand alone story. Talk about opposites attracting. Michelle and Austin are at opposite ends of the spectrum but some how they work.

Tiffany Williams did a really good job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken with a smooth even pace. Great character voices. She was able to bring the characters to life with her narration.

Occasional fluctuation in sound quality. The sound would fade then go back to normal volume.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.

Michelle and Austin seem like an unlikely couple, Michelle fights for animal rights. Austin works for a company that tests products on animals. I guess opposites attract. But are they truly opposites? Can Michelle change Austin's ways? You will have to read this book to find out. The tension between them is half the fun of this story. Austin is a great dad. I love how protective he is about his kids. It was a nice change to read about a caring dad. I fell hard for Austin because of his relationship with his kids.

Tiffany Williams brings this romance to life. I got lost in her performance of the story. I enjoyed the consistency of one narrator for the series. Ms. Williams has a variety of voices to keep all the characters distinct and easy to follow. I always enjoy Ms. WIlliams narrations.

I recently re-read this book. It’s novella length, so it’s a quick read, but I remembered about a third of the way through the book that I didn’t really like the heroine, Michelle Collins. It’s not that she’s a bad person or does anything despicable. It’s just she isn’t really nice until the end to the hero, Austin O’Neal. There’s never any doubt he’s a good man. I liked him and the way he loved his kids. He showed the depth of his caring for the kids and for Michelle over and over and I just don’t think he got what he deserved in return from Michelle. It’s sweet and clean, although, a little rushed, but that’s just a drawback for novellas. It's hard giving this a three star because it's really not a bad story, but if I can't like the leading lady I can't give it more.

Mistletoe Match by Lindzee Armstrong is an entertaining contemporary romance. Ms. Armstrong has given readers a well-written book furnished with a fantastic cast of characters. Michelle is a teacher and loves animals. She hates companies that use animals for testing their products and is part of a group that protests the mistreatment. Austin is a single dad and has just started working for a company that uses animals for testing. Austin and Michelle's story is loaded with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading Mistletoe Match and look forward to reading more from Lindzee Armstrong in the future. Mistletoe Match is book 4 of the No Match For Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This was such a sweet touching story. I love animals (dogs mostly) and the way that this story shows how awesome pets are is amazing. Tiffany did such a great job narrating my boyfriend even listened to a little of the story (he doesn't read or listen to books at all) and liked what he heard. I feel so much for Michelle especially with what happened with Bella because I recently had the same happen with my dog. I love the real life feel and great work that Lindzee put into her characters. She makes her stories so believable its hard not to love them. I don't even see why someone would try not to love them anyway.

A chance encounter in the men's room and then an electric kiss under the mistletoe. Is this the start to a new romance or are the lives of Michelle and Austin too complicated? Who could help but fall in love with Austin - a recently divorced single father who puts his children first? I loved how the storyline about using animals for testing new cosmetics/drugs/etc was handled - starting off as being a black and white issue to developing into a realization that not everything is black and white. While there was a lot going on in the book, it didn't feel like any aspect was short changed. I would highly recommend reading this book.

Really enjoyable short, sweet and clean romance. Michelle, the heroine, was as idealistic and sweet as could be and Austin, a single father new to town with three children and a truly unsympathetic, self-centered ex, is so-o deserving of a good woman in his life. The obstacle to their relationship, centered in animal rights and a local drug company's continued use of animals in their drug trials, is very different, refreshing even. Who wouldn't root for some solution that brings the couple together and saves the animals too? Does it happen? Read the book and find out!!

Warm, sweet, and moving.

This novella is about Michelle and Austin. They meet, they kiss, and then Michelle finds out Austin is the ‘enemy. Or is he?

A quick (but not too quick) light read, but there’s more to it than just fun. It’s well developed. I liked the animal rights angle. When I see (or read about) an animal that suffers, I suffer too. So when Bella the dog got hit by a car, I had tears in my eyes

I loved this book. Both Michelle and Austin are likeable. It was warm, it was sweet, it was moving.
