Librarian's Note: This is an alternate-cover edition for ISBN 9781370161126

Bestselling author Kurt Remington lives to write. He spends twelve hours a day in front of his computer, rarely leaving the seclusion of his beach-front property, where he’s come to finish his latest thriller that is, until free-spirited Leanna Bray nearly drowns in the ocean trying to save her dog. Kurt’s best-laid plans are shot when he comes to their rescue. Kurt’s as irritated as he is intrigued by the sexy, hot mess of a woman who lives life on a whim, forgets everything, and doesn’t even know the definition of the word organized.

Leanna’s come to the Cape hoping to find a fulfilling career in the jam-making business, and until she figures out her own life, a man is not on the menu. But Leanna can’t get the six-two, deliciously muscled and tragically neat Kurt out of her mind. She tells herself she’s just stopping by to say thank you, but the heart-warming afternoon sparks an emotional and unexpectedly sweet ride as Kurt and Leanna test the powers of Chemistry 101: Opposites Attract.

Read, Write, Love at Seaside is a Sweet with Heat novel and conveys all of the passion you'd expect to find between two people in love without any graphic scenes or harsh language. READ, WRITE AND LOVE AT SEASIDE is the first book in a series by Addison Cole. This series is a Sweet Romance, meaning that there is a love story, but it isn’t too explicit. I think if you’re a beachy Contemporary fan or just want to read something light as the weather warms up, this is a nice one to try.

I immediately fell in love with the hero of this book. Kurt is a bestselling Thriller author and he’s come to Cape Cod to find some alone time to write. However, he is disturbed by a loud and frantic woman calling for her dog outside. Like the gentleman he is, he goes out to help her.

While I think Leanna is a sweetheart, she is a handful in my eyes. She’s such a ball of energy that I do feel like she can steal the spotlight a bit. There were times where I thought she was a bit too much and I had to disregard some logic but I still think she’s a charming character. For me, however, Kurt was the one that made this book. I love this easygoing attitude. It matched the Seaside feel of this book perfectly.

I’m definitely looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Cole’s writing is smart, sweet and just the right amount of sexy, creating the perfect escape for the summer!

Read, Write, Love at Seaside by Addison Cole was a sweet and romantic read.
The storyline was entertaining all throughout the book, once I started reading I didn't want to put it down.
Kurt and Leanna were wonderful engaging characters that I easily connected with. I loved their banter, I loved their passion and watching them fall in love brought out all the feels.
These two opposites were perfect for each other and totally belonged together.

My head was all over the place this weekend. I finished so many books, just felt too lazy to keep updating since most of them ended up being meh reads after finishing my Stephen King book.

This was free via Kindle so I thought I give the first book in this series (Sweet With Heat #1) a whirl. Too bad that there wasn't a lot there to recommend it for me. I think that the problem was that both characters were boring and I just found myself becoming increasingly annoyed by the heroine who really should not own a dog due to the cavalier way she was going about things.

"Read, Write, Love at Seaside" (that title is making me twitchy) starts with a best-selling thriller author, Kurt Remington being interrupted by a woman who is about to drown trying to rescue her dog. Kurt is annoyed this is taking him out of prime writing time and seriously guys, there is a long sequence of him just listening to her struggle in the surf and I was wondering if the author was going to start off with someone dying or what. When Kurt finally rescues the stranger (Leanna Bray) she and her dog come in and make themselves at home. I just went eh for the first couple of pages hoping to get some sense of spark there or something, but nothing doing.

Leanna feels like a blank space for Kurt to just have lustful feelings for. I wish I could care about Leanna and her jam making business, but I don't.

The writing was really what pushed me to DNF this book though. There's no flow. All of the paragraphs are overly long and it's just wall of text coming at you. I felt like the first part of the book was trying to set things up, but it doesn't work that well. The dialogue is a little better, but I found myself becoming annoyed with a side character who acts like it's totally okay to tell two people they should totally be boning (yes that happened).

I was in the mood for a summery type of book, but just decided to let this one go.

I have to admit, I finally put this book down and won't be going back to it. The beginning was strong, showing the character development at a normal, realistic pace.
Then suddenly, things got a bit dull and everyone was suddenly over their personal obstacles with no real challenges. Man, I wish I lived in a world where I was magically over myself and could get out of my own way without hard work!
Too many books are coming out with no real work on character development and growth- I just added another to the list with this one....
BUT- if you like easy-peasy relationships, you might love this one!

This is a cleaned up version of Read, Write, Love by Melissa Foster. It's labeled as being sweet with heat and I was honestly expecting something much cleaner than what I got. It is a sweet story but there is still plenty of heat. The sex fades to black or the door closes but that doesn't make this a clean book because there is still lots of innuendo and lots of details leading up to sex which occurs all throughout the book. Fun story and great characters but I guess I need the sweet without heat version.

Content: innuendo, mild language and several sex scenes which fade to black

Straight laced mystery writer Kurt Remington and free spirit Leanna Bray, with her jams/jellies and her Happy Mobile. However, anytime Kurt is around Leanna deadlines fly out the window and he couldn't care less. Leanna brings out something in Kurt and that is having fun, relaxing and living life to it's fullest.

Along with all of the Seaside characters, we're take on a sweet journey of living and loving.

For anyone looking a sweet love story, I highly recommend.

I never read the steamier version of this title. However, when I heard Melissa Foster’s alter ego would release the cleaner version I was intrigued and jumped at the chance to read a copy.

What the story is about.

Kurt Remington is a best-selling thriller author, who takes his writing seriously. This dedication led to him living a reclusive life. His family was eager to see him move beyond the world he created in his books and embrace what real life had to offer. Currently, that was not on his list of things to do, however, when Leanna Bray literally swam into his life, he would come to realise that there is someone more captivating than the characters in his fictional world.

Leanna Bray’s focus is on getting her jam-making business off the ground and bring organisation to her life. As such, a relationship is not on her list of priorities. However, when Kurt came to her rescue, she may need to reorganise her list if only she can maintain some order in her life.

My Perspective

The story

Read, Write, Love was classified as a clean read and this was true to some extent. The author alluded to intimate encounters between the main characters, but there were no graphic descriptions. In addition, the language was clean, which I found refreshing.

There is no mistaking that this is the work of Melissa Foster, which is evident by the writing style. The story was sweet and emotional. This book is evidence that the author can write not only steamy romances but also ones where the bedroom door is closed. The story was engaging and perfectly paced, with fun, sweet and emotional moments.

The Characters

One of the things I associate with the author is good character development. I have never had a problem connecting with any of her characters and this was no different.

Kurt is a man that thrives on order in every aspect of his life. He is a perfect gentleman. What I enjoyed most about him were his patience and kindness. He was not keen on being disturbed, when in his writing zone, but the fact he willingly came out of the zone to rescue Leann and her dog demonstrated his caring nature. Leann is a free spirit, who is disorganised in every aspect of their lives. She takes each day has it comes and does not follow a specific plan. Kurt and Leanna were as different as night is from the day, but in spite of the differences, they made a great couple. They complemented each other well.

Kurt learnt the importance of having a balanced life while Leann discovered the importance of being organised especially in her business life.

The romance.

Their summer romance was sweet, passionate and flirty. This was not a love at first sight scenario. Their connection was established from their initial meeting, but their romance developed throughout the summer. I enjoyed how they related to each other throughout the story.

Recommendation:

If you are looking for a clean, but passionate romance story, if you want a story that has depth and filled with emotion then look no further. Read, Write, Love at Seaside has it all.

Everything that I loved in the original steamier version but tamed down for those that like the romance a bit more on the sweet, innocent, less provocative, yet still fulfilled romance. So, I got less of the steam but I also got a good clean read that will be read by my younger daughter. I have no issue at all giving this book to her to read. She loves romance and having a clean romance that still engages the mind and the senses without the overload on language and explicitly makes me still feel good. Kurt and Leanna still have that romantic heat without all the other. Its cleaner, sweeter, and appropriate for more readers to enjoy.

The characters are still rich and engaging without the added details. The read was still enjoyable and to be honest if I hadn’t read the original publication. I would not have missed the parts that are now missing. The romance still there. The passion between opposites. Still there. The great writing still there. All just aimed more toward a more innocent, sweeter crowd.

Looking for a clean romance that will give you the romance, the depth, the comedy. Kurt and Leanna are certainly a read you want to pick up this summer reading season.

All the passion without all the details. That's what you get when you read the "sweet" version of the Seaside Summers stories. These are the same stories published by Melissa Foster but for those of us that prefer less detail of the sexy times. Same great writing, same great characters.

This is Kurt and Leanna's story. Kurt is a writer that has come to the Cape to get away and finish up his latest novel. Leanna is on the Cape trying to get her jam making business off the ground. She's flounder for years trying to find a career she enjoys and she finally feels like she's found what she's been looking for. Neither of them have time for romance but sometimes you just have to follow your heart.

I highly recommend this one.

Warmth and light abound within an intoxicating romance. The loner and the optimist may be an odd combination, but the healing qualities they bring out in one another helps them find common ground. Ms. Cole proves that romance can be sweetly seductive with a hint of heat and an abundance of heart.

Audiobook Review:

Leanna and Kurt have nothing in common. He's an organizer, she's a mess. He's reserved, she's loud. Yet somehow they work. They bring out the best in each other, even at their worst. Addison Cole proves that sometimes less is more. Simply irresistible.

Initially I thought this was going to be good. I love moody writers! But unfortunately it went downhill after the third chapter. Bestselling author Kurt has a chance meeting with a free spirited woman, Leanna, after she chases her dog into the sea. I liked both of their stubbornness until their individual selves just disappeared. They fall in love in two days, they realize that they can't live without each other, Leanna is annoying, Kurt is annoying, their family/friends are annoying and that's pretty much it. Not sure why I finished this, it dragged on and on.

ugh! Deanna was just too ditsy. she was completely clueless, unorganized, a slob and she had no idea how to take care of a dog. The author also used long-winded descriptions of things, making it appear that she got paid by the word!

Do you like your romances sweet, hot & with the suggestion of intense sex, without the actual scene? This is the book for you! Kurt Remington is at his beachside house trying to finish writing his next book when he ends up rescuing a gorgeous blonde & her dog. Leanna Bray had taken her dog for a walk on the beach when he took off into the ocean & got caught in the current. Talk about instant chemistry & opposites attracting opposites!

The writer has creating an excellent group of characters that build upon each other & are realistic. Leanna, Bella, Jenna, & Amy are friends & neighbors. They support each other. Leanna is flighty, messy & disorganized. Kurt is totally organized, neat & anal. You would think they would drive each other nuts. Instead they bring out the best in each other. Leanna makes Kurt realize there is more to life than work. Kurt makes Leanna slow down & he calms her mind. There is a intense chemistry & drama with the suggestion of hot sex behind closed doors. Take a chance on this one. You'll love it!

Bestselling author Kurt Remington leads a very structured, solitary life. He works out in the morning and writes for 8-10 hours every day on his oceanfront deck overlooking Cape Cod bay. This routine allows him to be immersed in his writing zone as he crafts his latest suspense book. However, Kurt’s writing schedule is interrupted when he hears Leanna Bray calling her puppy. He watches as the disobedient animal runs into the ocean and gets pulled into a strong current. The chemistry between Kurt and Leanna sizzles when Kurt rescues the puppy and returns him to Leanna.
Leanna is open and honest person, who is a free spirit and a bit scatterbrained. She inherited jam making recipes from a friend and has decided to start a home- based business. In order to pursue this opportunity, Leanna decides to spend the summer making jam and homemade bread at her family’s Cape Cod cottage I loved that Leanna’s appreciation of the little things in life opened up a new world for Kurt—she brought color and sound into his black and white world. Kurt listened, supported and believed in Leanna. Their romance is the perfect mix of passion, humor and romance!
Addison Cole’s descriptive writing style shines in this story! While reading the book, I could imagine Kurt immersed in writing his novel on his deck overlooking the ocean while Leanna spent the afternoon nearby on the beach. The scenes which describe Leanna making jam and the sticky mess in her kitchen made me smile. The brightly colored buildings of Provincetown, the large outdoor flea markets and the Wellfleet drive-in come to life in this book. Leanna’s friends and their stories are woven throughout the novel. Loved the relationship between Leanna and her Seaside friends Bella, Jenna and Amy. They tease, listen and support each other just like sisters. The Seaside neighborhood captures the small town community feeling perfectly-from the bonfires to the last minute wine parties on the deck.
However, Leanna fears that her relationship with Kurt will change when she is offered a huge contract which stipulates that her products be locally made. Kurt summers on the Cape, he lives in New York. She worries that they won’t be able to make a long distance relationship work. The heartfelt conclusion to Leanna and Kurt’s story has several surprises and is perfect for the couple. Melissa Foster blends passion, friendship and humor in Read, Write, Love at Seaside resulting in the perfect summer read!

The book description gives you a nice idea of the general plot of the book. I truly enjoyed Kurt and Leanna. Leanna was such a free spirit and lived a very simple way of life. It didn't mean that it still wasn't being directed and planned out for her and that is the beauty behind this book. Kurt was such a great guy who was very OCD and stuffy in the beginning. He had his deadlines and work, that was it. He came from a big family but lead his own life.

Leanna has a college education but hasn't found any true direction in life to use what she's learned. She takes her dog on a walk on the beach when Pepper gets a mind of his own and jumps in the water. Now you get Kurt a well known thriller author rescuing Pepper and Leanna. He is a fantastic clash with Leanna's way of life. I think the author could have played a little more with his adjustment but I really enjoyed his sweetness. Such a thoughtful man as well as romantic. I think there could have been more conflict like an ex or something. Carey offered some but was vague.

The book is just the two falling in love and figure out what they want to do with that new found emotion. Leanna is growing up and realizing her passion not just with Kurt and all he wants is to make all her dreams come true. You will love him. The friends next door are super close with Leanna and while nice and fit into Leanna's world would have not got along in mine. They are very intrusive and just barge on in at anytime, not my thing. This is also a clean book with just a few insinuations. Enjoy!

Melissa Moran brings rich character to life . . .

Melissa Moran gives a performance that make the rich character that Addison Cole have created take on a new life. They come off the pages with the tone laid out by Moran's voice. The audio was clean, smooth, and allowed for play speed to be increased and or decreased with ease and clarity.

The sweet, innocent, less provocative, yet still fulfilled romance of an author that I have loved for here characters both supporting and primary, story line, and the romance journey. There was less of the steam but a good clean read that can be read by beginning romance readers. I have no issue at all giving this book to my daughter to read. She loves romance and having a clean romance that still engages the mind and the senses without the overload on language and explicitly makes me still feel good. Kurt and Leanna still have that romantic heat that's cleaner, sweeter, and appropriate for more readers to enjoy. The read was still enjoyable and to be honest if I hadn’t read the original publication. I would not have missed the parts that are now missing. The romance still there. The passion between opposites. Still there. The great writing still there. All just aimed more toward a more innocent, sweeter crowd.

An author who writes shirtless, living in a pristine cottage with white walls and immaculate surroundings. A man who is quiet, organized and plans everything. That's Kurt Remington for you.

Then a free spirited, bikini-clad woman with a loud mouth, sexy body comes rushing by on the beach looking for her dog, splashing water and leaving sand trails on the deck. That's Leanna for you.

Two extreme opposites, a laptop with thousand word counts, and a basketful of jam and baking soda are all it takes for one exciting summer Kurt and Leanna won't ever forget!

My heart went yada-yada and skipped like there's no tomorrow after reading Read, Write, Love at Seaside. Addison Cole put two opposing characters together and the impact was like fireworks in the sky - sparkly, bright, beautiful. The other girls in the book were golden! Bella and Jenna and Amy seemed like a bunch of lovely meddling ladies who are endearing and funny and truly loving. And Kurt - he is exemplary! He's probably my newest book boyfriend this month (Yay!)

Love this book heaps! Cole's writing was great although the pacing was a little slow. Nevertheless, this has been a really lusciously sweet story and I'm loving it! (Can't wait to read seductive Bella's story!!)

This is Leanna and Kurt’s story. Kurt spends all him time in front of a computer writing bestselling thriller books. Organized and sticks to a schedule. He meets his total opposite Leanna when we rescues her from drowning. Leanna forgets everything and does not stick to a schedule at all. Leanna want's to figure out her own life before finding a man. Fate just might have other ideas for Leanna. Can opposites really make it work? See for yourself. Pick up the story and read Kurt and Leanna's story.

The story was full of sweet moments. I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

This is a sweet romance story and the development of Kurt and Leanna relationship is adorable !!!
At the beginning of the story , Kurt is like a computer boy he don’t play games but he loves to write Everyday. He can stayed in front of his computer 24/7... One day when he was sitting at cottage writing some stories, he heard a women (Leanna) shouting. So he looked up and he saw Leanna was trying to save her dog who was going to drown in the sea. On that day the wind and the current was very strong. Looking at her struggling, he decided to help her. After Kurt have save her dog, he sent her back.... Kurt was attracted by her.... that’s when their relationship start to develop....
Do you want to know more ?? Go read it !! Hahaha
Highly recommend you to read this!!

This was a bit cheesy for me. Kurt annoyed me at first as he seemed grumpy and didn’t like dogs. He rescues Leeanna’s dog pepper from the sea and starts to change his mind about dogs. He also changes his mindset as he was a focused writer but makes time for Leanna. Kurt is bordering on ocd with his organisation and cleanliness and Leanna is the exact opposite but they seem to make it work. This was an ok read but didn’t have me desperate to read more.

Read, Write, Love at Seaside (Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers, #1) by Addison Cole is a perfect beach read that is utterly romantic and fluffy with two opposites attracting people, who you will root for every step of the way. The hero is grumpy hermit type best selling author who wants it his way or no way. The heroine is a bit absente-minded but once she sets her mind to something, she puts her nose to the grindstone to get it done. There’s also a loveable dog in the mix.

Kurt, the hero is trying to finish his latest manuscript. He’s a best selling author of thrillers. In order to concentrate, he needs quiet and relaxation, which the beaches of Cape Cod can provide. But his concentration is soon destroyed by Leanna, a true free spirit, who makes money by selling home made jam in the community. These two are far from perfect, and shouldn’t connect because they’re different as night and day. but there’s something special about Leanna that brightens up Kurt’s life.
Kurt wants Leanna to spread her wings and take her jam business to the next level, but she is afraid. She doesn’t want to give up the life she’s created, even though her future is unknown. She’s a, take each day as it comes type of gal, while Kurt is a big planner. Both have to bend their way of thinking in order to have a relationship. But can Kurt and Leanna accept each other’s eccentricities for a shota a HEA together?

Read, Write, Love at Seaside is a lovely romance with great chemistry between the main couple. You’ll lose yourself in the sights and sounds of the summer as Kurt and Leanna fall in love. The love scenes are steamy and set the perfect mood for an enjoyable Contemporary Romance about the least likely of people making a connection and falling in love.

Do pick this one up!
