MORE POWER, MORE PROBLEMS A new arc begins! After the defeat of the Orc Lord, Rimuru is now the chancellor of the Jura Forest Alliance. With more companions than ever, his profile within the world rises, but this also draws the attention of ever more powerful figures. How will Rimuru handle the schemes of the mighty Dwarf King Gazel and the most ancient of Demon Lords, Milim Nava?!
And enter Milim, a nice fun character that is way OP but childlike... which is another trope but oh well. Story is progressing nicely so no complaints there from me.
And with that, the allied nation of Jura Tempest is born! Rimuru is now officially king of a country... though he doesn't appear to be too pleased by the development, poor guy :P
Lots more worldbuilding in this one, but we also got our first true introduction to the Demon Lords, with four of them being introduced in this volume, and one of them (Milim) deciding to go to Jura Tempest to say hello to the new "monsters" and the one monster there (Rimuru) that might potentially become a demon lord himself in future!
Really enjoyed this volume overall; Milim appears to be a fantastic character so far, and whilst I'm not the biggest fan of her character design, her personality is fantastic and she's a great inclusion in the series. Love having this super overpowered character that's super old (...at LEAST a few centuries, though it hasn't been confirmed at this stage) but also is still 100% a child at heart. I look forward to seeing how her relationship with her new best friend develops over the course of the series.
Chapter notes below for personal reference: (potentially spoiler heavy)
This volume picks up where we left off in volume 5.
This volume starts a new arc that plays into the heavy hitters of this world. So far Taiki Kawakami has hinted at super powerful villains and good-hearted kings, but we haven¡¯t gotten a taste of how they function in the hierarchy of society. Since the main character is gaining so much power and fostering such a large community of monsters, it¡¯s the perfect time to flesh out the politics of the world.
This volume starts to lay out the power levels of the Demon Lords, establishing how the main character Rimuru stacks up. It¡¯s a nice way to check in and remind readers Rimuru isn¡¯t all powerful (yet) and has formidable foes yet to come. He¡¯s defeated so many at this point it¡¯s hard to forget. The big-time foe this time around is Milim Nava, who is a bit chaotic and immature even though she¡¯s a catastrophic level Demon Lord. As the manga plays out we learn she has sway over other Demon Lords, further increasing the threat of the character and making the last chapter even more dangerous for Rimuru and his people.
This volume is a tad light on battles, but it does contain two. The first involves Rimuru and a major king in the world who is good of heart. So good the battle is more of a gentlemanly test of skill. It plays out in an interesting way reminding us Rimuru isn¡¯t perfect. The second involves Milim and Rimuru¡¯s main guards playing up their powers and the impressive invulnerability of Milim.
Much of this volume is about the politics between Demon Lords, Rimuru¡¯s new status as a leader of his people, and the very interesting dynamic developing between Milim and Rimuru. All of these elements are paced well in the story and keep your interest while setting up plots you¡¯ll be hungry for.
The weakest aspect of this instalment is the demon lord Milim. The character is a kooky sort with not much development beyond that, making her flat and somewhat boring. She serves as a sounding board to make other characters react and reflect. Given how important she is to the narrative it¡¯d be nice if she had more character work. Perhaps she will be developed more in future volumes.
Mikami's life hasn't gone as planned ¨C or hoped. Unfortunately, his life was a fair bit shorter than expected. The one bit of good news is that he woke up in a new world. The strange news? He's now a slime.
Rimuru's life has changed so much since first waking up in this new world ¨C and it's about to change a whole lot more. New allies, potential threats, and more are just around the corner. Will Rimuru and his growing group survive it all?
Review:
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol. 6?wastes no time throwing readers back into the deep end. To be fair, a lot is going on, so there isn't much time for hand-holding. We have enemies and allies galore, not to mention a few more twists in progress.
I knew that things weren't done with the Drawf King Gazel ¨C and while he seemed honorable (if stuck in a bind, thanks to the laws of his kingdom), I wasn't sure what else to make of him. Still, it was nice to see his plot come back around again.
Speaking of, there are a few new characters for us to know! More than a few, in truth. It'll take some time for them all to feel fleshed out in my mind, but I'm looking forward to learning more about them, even if they bring complications.
I remember reading a spin-off volume of this series a year or two ago, and this volume helped settle all of that into place in my mind. I finally met one of the major characters for that plot (I probably shouldn't have read things out of order, whoops), so that was an added bonus for me.
Highlights: Isekai Reincarnation Comical Manga Fantasy Setting
As a fan of the "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" series, I recently finished reading Volume 6 by Fuse. I must say, this volume continues to impress and closely follows the events of the anime adaptation.
In this volume, the story takes a new turn as Rimuru, now the chancellor of the Jura Forest Alliance, faces new challenges. With a growing number of companions by his side, Rimuru's influence in the world expands, catching the attention of powerful figures such as the mighty Dwarf King Gazel and the ancient Demon Lord, Milim Nava.
Personally, I enjoyed how this volume stays true to the spirit of the series, maintaining the unique blend of fantasy and gaming elements. The Klappentext accurately describes the premise of the story, where our protagonist, a 37-year-old Tokyo salaryman, finds himself reincarnated as a blind, boneless slime monster in a world of elves and magic.
Although I took a break after reading this volume, I'm eager to continue with the series. The writing style and engaging plot keep me hooked, and I hope that future volumes will maintain the same level of excitement and storytelling.
Overall, I rate "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Vol. 6" by Fuse 3 out of 5 stars. It's a solid addition to the series, and I recommend it to fans of the anime and light novel adaptation.
The beginning of a new arc after Rimuru became the head of the Jura Forest Alliance. With so many monsters joining his group and his town growing at an extraordinary rate Rimuru has drawn the attention of potential threats and allies as restrictions are lifted and one of the oldest Demon Lords comes to say hi to Rimuru. This demon lord is that adorable pink haired girl on the cover and her name is Milim Nava and according to the story at the back of the book she is the daughter of Veldora's older brother. She doesn't seem like a bad person but it is going to take a lot of patience, charm, and wits for Rimuru to keep her from loosing her temper as she decides to live in this new town of monsters. After all she is Rimuru's best friend...right?
In this volume Rimuru is also elevated to king status thanks to King Gazel asking him what the name of his nation and everyone agreeing to it immediately so they could negotiate a pact of cooperation. :)
My favorite part of the volume is Milim immediately running off as she gets to the town and starts trying everything new even though Rimuru tried telling her not to make any trouble. :)
Maybe 3,5 stars but I still liked it very much, so let's round it up to 4. It's still a fun read but I've liked other volumes more.
First Rimuru faces a different kind of challenge when he's gotta duel without all his amazing powers. Which is pretty interesting situation but it's not super dangerous one in the end. We've obviously seen dwarves before but I say it again, they aren't short in this one and it's actually kinda curious choice when many other fantasy races and people are pretty conventional.
But major event of this volume is the introduction of Milim. She's a super dangerous demon lord who looks like a cute young girl. She's kinda hyper. On the pages of manga so far it's tolerable, I haven't watched the anime adaptation but if I did, she could come off more annoying. But we'll see! Surely her duality with murderous temper and child-like enthusiasm will provide both comedy and trouble in the future.
Right now I'm also interested in that winged demon lord, Frey, she'll probably will face Rimuru & co. at some point.
Solid volume but not my favourite one, opinion of Milim is still up in the air.
I really enjoyed this series it¡¯s so funny, the only thing is how Milim was drawn is creepy. She has pigtails, is undeveloped and so she has the appearance of a young girl. Her character wears clothes meant to sexualize her and it¡¯s creepy. Another issue is the one dwarf who is attracted to Shuna and Rimuru, who have the appearances of a young teenage girl and a preteen girl, while he¡¯s an adult male. It¡¯s meant to be a joke but it¡¯s just creepy. Over-sexualizing young girls in manga is a problem.
The town of monsters has grown and has officially been noticed by the other nations of the world. Time for more politics! The dwarves are coming for a visit, the humans have a new interest, and even the demon lords, one in particular that decided she wanted a closer look. Let's just say, Rimiru is playing with fire. (Though I find this character to be a little annoying. Like a bratty younger sister)
On a side note, I kinda ship Soei with Soka. Not sure how inter-species relationships work in this world or if it's even allowed, but I think they'd be cute together.
Slime spends a lot of time being slice of life, which to be clear, I enjoy, or I wouldn't buy so much of the series. This volume is a transition between the setting up and the acknowledgement of the country "Tempest." It introduces the Dwargon-Tempest treaty and Milim, both of which are important in later plot.
It can be a bit slow after all the action in the Orc Lord, but I found it fun.
The most exciting development yet, fully immersed in the world building as well as a fair amount of attempt at action scenes. It goes with the nature of this series that focus around a fantasy that includes all manners of imaginations readers might have had themselves in a magical world setting, but as to be expected the action scenes are overly explanatory with no clear rules or system and end in less than a handful of movements.
Another fun volume of TTIGRaaS. What can I say without just reiterating the plot -- it was fun. Once again Rimuru encounters someone new and they (sort of) become part of his conglomerate. We do learn more about what's going on outside the forest and hence what some of the future may bring to Rimuru and friends as well.
Verdict: I have been so pleasantly surprised by this series. It is entertaining, engaging and I think worth the read!
More introductions in the series are up, seeing some of the demon lords and how they work out things. Not only that a look at classifications on monsters is rather helpful.
The interactions between rrimuru and milim are great to see and how they quickly develop. Looking forward to seeing more of this
Veldoras diary was really funny this time, especially when involving milim, plus something that wasnt told in the series and I didnt know was revealed and I had to read it twice, like damn...
Slime Rimuru is made king of the monster nation and Demon Lord Milim decides to visit.
I'm not a fan of Milim - annoying child-like characters are not my favorite. Here's hoping she doesn't stay in the story too long if she's going to be the wide-eyed, I must run around and see all the new things (even though she's supposedly one of the most powerful Demon Lords).
Ahhh the stress I felt in this book and seems to not even be over! A lot of monsters and other creatures can be really kind and human like. But when it comes to demon lords, they stress me! Anything can happen at any given moment. I know Rimuru is ours mc and so won¡¯t die but what about all the others I came to love?
Rimuru keeps collecting people, including both powerful-looking male monsters and suspiciously human-looking females. I guess it officially counts as a harem series, by this point? He's a king now, so that tracks.
We got more character introductions (as if we needed MORE people ugh). This was a little more political than the last, but in good taste. I haven¡¯t read any of the novels in the back. They¡¯re just too long. Not a fan of the cover.
The beginning of the next arc and things start off pleasant. The scope of the world expands a bit and we find out more about demon lords - scheming demon lords. Apparently, a group of them were behind Gelmud and the Orc Lord. It's actually a bit more than what the anime showed, so that's nice.
the trope of the incredibly old and incredibly powerful person who appears as a childish but shrewd young girl feels played out but few examples come to mind when i think on it? either way, im curious to see what happens with Milim.
Vedremo...
Good opening to a new story arc and has promise to be good for the story going forther too. The demon girl seems like she might get a little annoying though.
