"4 My Helen Stars"

This book, O.M.G!!!

description

I couldn't get enough of it! I was reading so damn fast I didn't even realized when I finished it! The Mallick family once again rock my world! I loved the Mallick Brothers series and to get the opportunity to learn about their parents story... yeah that was pretty great!!!

description

Charlie and Helen's story was one for the books that's for sure! Charlie was a strong and determined man but without Helen he was lucking. In this book we saw more of how much a badass Helen was than anything else. We learned everything that made her the strong woman she was! And she was glorious and ruthless and practically don't mess with her or her family or you would end up ten feet under!!!

description

Their love life were pretty hot and they were crazy for each other! And didn't miss an opportunity to get all dirty between the sheets! Ohhh yeah Charlie knew what he was doing...:0

The only thing that I didn't like was it wasn't well explained and it happened really abruptly.

Overall, a great story with angst and violence and and all the good stuff that happen in Navesink Bank!I loved this crazy family and all the ups and downs until everything worked out in the end!

Family history! There’s nothing better than hearing stories of how a couple got together, how they journeyed to where they are today, how they became a solid unit, and the backbone for their children. Jessica Gadziala has given us a true love story against all odds as one couple lays the foundation for a family tree that has fascinated readers and stolen our hearts.

Helen was the poor little rich girl, abused, alone and a mere commodity for her monster of a father. She didn’t know the new enforcer, Charlie Mallick would be her savior, her future, and her best friend. She also didn't know just how strong she was.

MALLICKS: BACK TO THE BEGINNING by Jessica Gadziala is THAT love story, the one that survives all obstacles, strengthens through the trials and tribulations of lives spent on the “wrong side of the law. It is proof that real love is pure, no matter how gritty or ugly the world is and it is stronger than force on earth.

Once again, Jessica Gadziala gives us her heart, her world and her characters to share for a few hours and those hours will make even the cynics feel the staying power of love and companionship. Fabulous writing, fabulous story, fabulous characters, no wonder their “boys are so amazing!

I received a complimentary copy from Jessica Gadziala!

From the very first Mallick book I read I was curious about Charlie and Helen, to me Charlie was the bad@$$ enforcer and Helen was a strict but loving matriarch but JG is an author one must never underestimate,she took my preconceived notions of Helen and Charlie and annihilated them! Helen Mallick started of as a quiet child in a monstrous life, she suffered through many tragedies before she discovered her steel backbone and it was there I developed a girl crush. Never had I seen an h turn into such a fierce, dedicated and passionate force to be reckoned with as in Helen Mallick and the best part was I completely understood how it could've happened. This wasn't an OTT sudden change, JG built it until the reader was able to fully believe that quiet Helen who kept her head down most her life could turn into a lion!! The events that shaped the Mallick family into who they became was another shocker but also helped me gain a better understanding of previous events. The epilogue through the years helped me see the family grow and overcome the last hurdles standing in their way, the love between Charlie and Helen was awe inspiring! There is no doubt that I love this author's work, but one of the things I love most about her talent is that her work is always guaranteed to be fresh and 100% engrossing,no regurgitated stories,h's or H's for us readers. I 1000% recommend giving this book a try I'm already settling in for a reread!!

I am still not a huge fan of the Mallick series, tho I adore Navesink Bank. I really felt for Helen and Charlie growing up.

One thing that has always horrified me about this part of the series is how they treated Hunt after he left, when they brought him back. While we get an explanation for that, it diminished Helen and Charlie's characters and I really thought Michael should have been taken care of the minute he and Eli had their moment.

It made Helen weak to put up with that for as long as she did, but I overlooked it because I like the Navesink world overall and I get that sometimes you just have to throw a plot point in there to make it work and we get a promise that the future will be different.

Overall the Mallick's aren't my favorite, but it was nice spot of color while waiting for the next Henchmen book.

This Mallick story supplanted all the other Mallicks combined. Helen is now my most gave heroine. Yup. sorry Fee, Lea, Scotti, Dusty, Autumn....... Maybe I'm going through a reading phase where the romance books I like must be served with a side of violence 😳 but Charlie and Helen gave me everything I needed: well balanced point of views, closure to explain why all the beat outs and forced careers, less telling more showing, just enough that I don't feel the story dragged itself out. I hope there will be more tales structured like this by Jessica Gadziala because the formula works and I appreciate the thought out into this book.

Helen is #MomGoals

I could not put this book down and read it in 2hrs(with kid distractions)
Helen is who I aspire to be as a mom and reading about her past makes me have a whole new respect for her she's a Queen!! Charlie is the OG hottie Mallick who could give his boys a run for their money. Reading about these 2 together makes my heart skip
"Knew it would come to this the first time I kissed you, Tasted forever on your lips."

"He'd paid me back two days later after two weeks of me threatening him.One talk with my woman, and the man was selling off plasma and semen to get the money he needed."

I hope my mama bear comes out like Helen's and my kids show this kind of respect.... or fear lol

"One day, I hope my full-grown children piss themselves in fear of me,"

I could quote this book all day long. Read it and enjoy the start of the Mallicks.

I was so excited for Charlie and Helen’s book and I was not disappointed! It was so fun to go back to when they first met and learn how Helen became who she is today. Jessica’s writing just gets better and better with each book.

❤️❤️One of the best❤️❤️

I’ve been patiently waiting for Charlie and Helen’s story and Jessica didn’t disappoint. I could feel the love and passion swirl off the pages. Seeing Helens past that molded her into the fierce woman she is today and Charlie’s love for her leaped off the pages. The well written story spans three decades with flawless precision. I also got to visit my favorite character Fee and the rest of the extended family. This is one of my favorites.

Yeah, this was good, but not my favorite. I just think it turned me off that he didn't come back for her. Anyways it was only a day or so that they were apart. Decent read. Safety: Neighbor did try to rape her, caught her out of the shower, but she took care of it. Wish I liked this more.

I didn't want it end... I love when authors take us back in time to give us the parents this is where is all started stories. We'd already fallen in love with all the Mallick brothers in their stories and as an extension their parents Charlie and Helen. Now we find out Helen's beginnings were shocking and sad. But she triumphed over the evil that was her father and brother and went on to be the tough as nails (yet keeps her vulnerability) wife of a loan shark with 5 sons. Helen is the true stand out in this book but Charlie along with Connor deserve some major shout-outs too for being the men they are that would do anything to protect Helen.

Just wow! Words aren't enough!!

Reading the Mallicks history, going back in time to see why and how Helen and Charlie are is mind boggling. Helen is such a badass, and I love her SO much more for it!

The explanation of all those things I've wondered about is awesome! I don't know how she does it, but Jessica Gadziala gives us all better and MORE with every new novel.

This book has all the feels, the romance between Charlie and Helen is super hot, and right as you think everything is finally figured out there's a new twist.

Totally worth more than 5 stars, I loved every minute!!

Perfect

Anyone who has read the Mallicks has wanted to know Helen and Charlie’s story. How it all came to be.

This took us to the beginning, we got to see Helen become the strong woman she is, and we got her background.
How she raised 5 sons, why Chaz’s came to be. And the trials her life held, and Charlie and Her life together.

We also got more background on Collings, which was also cool.

It was a great end to the Mallicks.

It really, really works!

I usually don't like these type of books. There are around 30 books in the Navesink Bank universe. Then to do a flash back for an established older couple? It very rarely works. This one did. Kudos to the author and her writing skills.

5 stars

I honestly cannot give this book anything less than 5 stars because JG gave us the best prequel ever!!!
Helen is the most badass female character in Navesink bank! (Aka all the series!) And if I didn't love Charlie before this book (I did btw, he's my favourite Mallick) id fall for him on this one!
This book has everything I hope and more and I'm soooo happy to have the pleasure of reading it!
Much live for you Jessica Gadziala ♡♡♡♡

More deserving than a 5 star review.

I've waited for what seems forever to find out how it all begin. How Charlie and Helen came to be. How loansharking became a family business. And of course those Sunday Dinners. I wasn't disappointed.
I'd like to say this is the best book of the Mallicks, but I cant. Their each in their own way the best. The best that their stories could be told.
Helen and Charlie's story will stay with me, as does the rest of their families. Two more perfect for each other couples. Their happily ever after isn't over. We'll read about them again, I'm sure. But for now ... so long dear friends. Until we meet again.

"Knew it would come to this the first time I kissed you," Charlie told me, lips brushing my ear as he did so. "Tasted forever on your lips." Sighs all round because that quote shot straight to my soul.

I've waited a while to get into this story because I just had a feeling I needed to be prepared. I was so right!.

The minute I started reading that was it! I was sucked in and not coming out until I finished it. I didn't expect their story!. I think anyone whose read Hunter's story would question the integrity of Helen and Charlie as parents and that's not including the rest of the brothers and their stories. It was a hard pill to swollow trying to understand why they did what they did?. Their actions contradicted everything because on the outside you think why would you allow that shit to touch your kids never mind make them suffer for it?. Yet deep down you could see that unconditional love for their children and their loved ones. It just did not make sense until now.

I get it. It makes sense and it fits. Fuck me this author spun me around in circles adding the final yet most important part to the story. Helen and Charlie's story isn't an easy one. They had to fight through harrowing times and it broke my heart little by little reading their struggle. I was angry at myself for ever doubting them. Their connection was palpable from the moment they met! The chemistry was there from day dot and the anticipation for what's to come was out of this world. WOWWW! As the story unraveled and things were revealed I honestly found myself hanging onto the edge of my seat in shock. This is definitely the best of series! I never thought I'd say that because I'm a loyal bitch to Hunter and Fiona who technically aren't in the Mallick Brothers series's but did kick it off. However Helen and Charlie's story brought everything full circle. There is no more miss understanding or second guessing the integrity of characters you want to love yet can't quite let them in because of what they've done. It's all laid out on the table.. every horrible detail and you feel it all. The emotion in the story is almost overwhelming it's so raw. It's written perfectly drawing it out just enough to have you wanting/needing more without any unnecessary drama. I didn't want it to end ever. I don't think I'll ever get enough of them and I hope/pray that we get more!.

I know I'm not giving much away but that's how you should read this story!. You won't regret it.

Much love to this crazy world and this very talented author! I cannot wait to see what's next.

I don't know what to tell you! God, Jessica, you make my heart happy and I swear I've said this before but you do. You just really do.
Oh, what a gift you have, to be able to write the way you do, to make ordinary words, the tale of time. I'm speechless, as I often am, at the end of your books.
When you end the book, the way you do, with the numerous epilogues, that I absolutely adore, you make me put my hand on my heart and take a deep breath and just relish what I've read. BECAUSE YOU'RE JUST THAT GOOD.

Charlie and Helen, the one's that started it all in my opinion, I wish I could be what Helen is, that courage, that strength, it takes a lot of a woman to be that. And she is a perfect character, with all the imperfections and the godly mother attitude that rivals my mothers. And Charlie, he's a teddy bear of a person when needed and a hulk when otherwise needed. I adore the way Jessica has written the parenting the Mallicks did, I wish I am strong enough to do just that when I have a family and while this book isn't a parenting guide, it's gonna be mine.

I recommend this book to everyone and I wish that Jessica Gadziala never ever stops writing and I'm going to now wait for anything you'll ever write, even if it's a grocery list.

I hope you get all that you desire with all the animals that you adore and that I see on your instagram and adore, because you're a wonderful human being with the greatest writing skills

I cannot wait for the next thing in store for you!

I want to be Helen when I grow up!

This book was everything! I felt first hand all the ups and downs. All the happiness and all the sadness. This book was wrote so well I felt like I was living Charlie and Helen's life right along side of them.

Helen is the women that every women strives to be in her life. When she found her backbone it was amazing to see how she could really stand up for herself and those she loved. Those who thought to cross her she put the fear of god in them. Her mother skills were so spot on. I was taking notes as a soon to be mother of three. The eating sand at the playground had me in stiches.

Charlie is such a sweetheart wrapped in strength, perseverance and determination. He might not have lived and worked on the right side of the law but he had a spot on moral compass. He lived by his own code that I found very admirable. Charlie and Helen created such a beautiful life and family from their beautiful love.

The best part the Sunday dinner. Always has been my favorite Mallick tradition. I really loved being able to experience Charlie and Helen's story!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I must admit that I was very curious to read the story of Helen and Charly, how they got there ... And I must admit that if I loved the beginning of the book (I loved so much the story of Helen !!), the end disappointed me (from the moment when )
So more a mixed review than for the rest of the family ...
