Standard Vampire Romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: ☺️🤬🥵😘

The heroine: Magdalena - recently broke up with her boyfriend Kellen after finding him in bed with someone else. She moved to San Francisco with her best friend Vanessa and got a new job as a crime reporter.

The Hero(s): Cian - a 200 year old vampire. Cian, his twin brother Lane and their band-mates are all vampires and they don’t kill to survive. They live in a mansion together and own a night club where they play their music on the weekends.

The Story: Cian sees Maggie through the window while she and Vanessa are out to dinner on their first night in town. He notices her later in line to get in his club. He is taken with her like he has never been before.

This was a pretty standard vampire romance. Vampires are immortal aside from decapitation or fire, they can’t go out in the sun without draining their energy, mirrors don’t work, and they can turn another person by giving them vampire blood at the time of death.

Cian remembers rumors of vampires that meet their soul mate and believes that Magdalena is his. He romances her. However there are roadblocks that surface in the form of her ex boyfriend Kellen who won’t seem to give up and more. Things come to a head when Maggie finds out what Cian is.

I liked the narration on this one. John York had a perfect British accent for Cian and Julie Walters did a great job as Magdalena.

I was in two minds what to rate this book as Maggie the heroine was a little annoying at first, mostly because she kept mentioning her boyfriend Kellen. They have both agreed to have a trial six months apart as Maggie was starting a new job as a journalist in San Francisco and Kellen had his political career in Sacramento.

Moving into a new apartment with her best friend Vanessa a graphic designer. On a night out to celebrate their new jobs the girls find themselves at Club Royal.

Cian and Lane are two hundred year old vampire brothers and are part of the band that play at the club that they both own. Both very gorgeous of course. When Cian sets eyes on Maggie he is determined to own her.

I really thought this story got going when a threat from the past comes back into the vampires lives and they have to protect what's theirs. I can see this becoming a must read series for me and I can't wait to find out what happens next to Maggie, Cian and the rest of the group.

I have been a die hard fan of Susan Griscom for some time now. It all began with Whisper Cape and continues through to Tempted by a Vampire. Her books are always action filled, raw with emotion and she serves up some super hot leading men that I can never get enough of.

Cian DeMarco is a 10 on the hotness scale. I had to keep fanning myself countless times. I fell under his spell right from the first chapter and was helpless to stop it. The steamy scenes with him left me breathless and of course wanting more. Not only is he a bad boy rocker and vampire, but he is also a man with depth and an inner pain that haunts him. He is definitely book boyfriend material and one I will never forget.

I have no doubt I will be returning to this book numerous times as it is now in my favorites list. I am also anxiously awaiting the next book in this series because I know there will be more hottness to come.

Magdalena “Maggie De la Rosa and her best friend, Vanessa, move to San Francisco after college to pursue their dream jobs. On their first night in their new home city they go to club to hear a live band and Maggie meets lead singer Cian DeMarco. Instalove spills all over the place. But will she still love him when she finds out he’s a vampire?

I wanted to love this story, but I just couldn’t. The concept is pretty good, but the execution lacks finesse. It’s a bit two dimensional and the instalove is a huge turn off. There are convenient plot twists and the action scenes lack excitement. Maggie is a spineless idiot and Cian is an asshole. He finds a woman who attracts him then he compels her so he can fuck and feed. It’s a huge turn off. I do not care that he brings her many orgasms. It’s still a drugged rape. I am not ok with this. When Maggie finds out he’s a vampire and can compel people, she asks him if he compelled her and he lies when he says no. He used his whammy on her the first night they met, so HE could get what he wanted. And at the end? He doesn’t give a shit about what Maggie wants. It’s all about HIM. Wah, wah, wah. So, while I totally wanted to love this, I ended up at the opposite end of the spectrum and hated it. And that makes me sad. This review was hard for me to write because the author is the sweetest person EVER.

“Electric. Looking into his eyes was like floating through the clearest part of the ocean with rays of sunshine painting glimmering streaks of light through the water.

5 vampire fangy stars!!! I can’t even put into enough words to say how much I fell in love with this book. The story was captivating and I was sucked (no pun intended) in!!

Cian DeMarco, a sexy, rockstar billionaire vampire has lived in San Francisco's prestigious Cliff Side neighborhood in his beautiful mansion overlooking both the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean for seventy years. Happily—or so he thought. Until the rare beauty that is Magdalena De la Rosa sits down at one of the front-row tables in Club Royal where he and his band perform once a week.

Magdalena De la Rosa has it all—Bachelor's degree in journalism, a job she loves in California, a gorgeous apartment in San Francisco, and a dream guy. Except her boyfriend lives and works in Sacramento—an hour and a half drive from the city Magdalena has always fantasized about living in. All her dreams change, however, when she and her girlfriend find their way into an upscale nightclub and she's suddenly swept off her feet by the lead singer of that night's performing rock band, The Lost Boys.
Sparks ignite between the two until a threat that was thought to no longer exist returns to wreak havoc on Cian's and Magdalena's lives. Will the temptation to be together outweigh the reality of what Cian must do to keep Magdalena safe from harm?

Let me just preface this by saying I’m not a paranormal fan!! But when I saw this was about vampires (which I love) and it takes place in San Francisco (my favorite city) I was intrigued!! Cian is a billionaire rockstar, did I mention he’s dead (ha get it) sexy and a vampire! After seeing Maggie he determined to have her! Maggie, a journalist, and new to San Francisco agrees to go out with her bff one night, although she really didn’t want to. While at the club she meets Cian and while she is mesmerized by him, she’s determined to stay faithful to her cheating boyfriend. Too bad she is weak and falls into Cian’s hands. Knowing that she can’t deny her feelings with Cian she decides to dump her boyfriend, who doesn’t take it well of course. After a lust filled date/night with Cian, she learns the truth about the man she’s falling for. He’s a vampire, but she has deep feelings for him and she decides that she is willing to let that little “problem go. But what happens when her psycho ex reveals a secret about him that she never knew and tries to take her away from Cian?? What happens when Cian’s maker turns up trying to stake her claim?? This book was beyond sexy and so thrilling!! I was in an extreme book slump and this book yanked me out of it!! Excited to see what’s coming next in the series!!!

3.5 stars

Tempted By A Vampire by a good book to read in an afternoon. I am a huge paranormal fan, paranormal romance is what got me back into reading so it holds a special place in my heart. I liked Tempted By A Vampire, but I wasn’t blown away. Let me explain before you think I am bashing the book, because that is far from the case. I know that with all genres it is hard to be original one hundred percent, but when I read a genre like paranormal romance I am looking for something to make that book stand out in a sea of other options. Tempted By A Vampire is a good book, but for me it didn’t have that stand out factor that I was craving.

Cian is sexy from the start. He isn’t just a vampire, but a rocker as well so for me that increases his sexy level up big time. From the moment he sees Mags he feels a connection with her and must have her. I know I wouldn’t have been able to deny myself from him for very long, but then again I am a book whore so my restraint is not that strong.

Mags, well, let’s just say Mags wasn’t my favorite character. She didn’t want to open her eyes to her douche bag cheating boyfriend and come on now, I could maybe understand forgiving him once but then when you know he does it again and five minutes after saying you are done you start to back track making excuses. She was a weak character in the beginning and I just never saw her as anything more than that.

While Tempted By A Vampire may not have blown me away, the romance, the suspense and the drama made up for it. Like I said I finished this one in an afternoon, it’s the perfect length if you need a book to pass a couple hours with. I think most paranormal fans will enjoy this one, and I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I was truly blessed with the honor of beta reading this book. I loved it. Susan knows how to write a vampire book.
Wow I know its not the best word, but I am blown away by this book. I don't know why Susan didn't write this book sooner. I am so obsessed with Cian and Mags. The perfect combination of a sexy, dark brooding rocker and the sweet lovable girl, throw in the fact that the rocker is also a Vampire and you have the formula for a perfect book. This did not disappoint! I devoured this book and I am craving more!!!! There are many points in the story where the emotional damn might break. Even though they are vampires they have very real feelings. These feelings were contagious. I smiled with them. I choked up with them. I became angry and wanted to break through my kindle. Then there are the steamy melt your panties scenes. Oh my Cian is now my new book boyfriend!!! I am laying claim to this one ladies! I can't wait to read more about these characters.

Tempted by a Vampire (Immortal Hearts of San Francisco 1) Susan Griscom 4.5 Stars

Yes! how I love a great hot vampire read. This is an easy book to get into, I was drawn in right from the very beginning. Cian is the super hot lead band member at a local club. Magdalena aka Maggie has just moved to San Francisco with her friend, here She meets Cian and the instant chemistry is so intense, what will happen when she discovers his secret and someone from his past wants him back ?

I love Maggie and Cian's steaming hot chemistry and the way this story unfolds fairly quickly without it being too drawn out. I could definitely do with a 'Cian' in my life ! Whilst I have read similar stories, this one kept me captivated all the way through and I ended up reading this in one go, a brilliant start to this series and it's a standalone, I can't wait to read more!

Our review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle:

Just in time for Halloween, we get a new vampire read. But don't expect just your dark and dangerous, it's sexy as sin, as well.

Cian DeMarco is a smoldery rockstar vampire living in San Francisco, playing with his band The Lost Boys (a group of vampires). His creation is a bit tragic, but his life is not. He loves the current age, his quiet, unassuming existence, doing what he loves in the city of his soul. Until he meets Magdalena and realizes there could be so, SO much more... He realizes there was something missing in his life and she's it.

Magdalena De la Rosa has a douchey boyfriend, but has temporarily left him behind to pursue her dream in San Francisco with her best friend. She's kind of let people walk over her a bit, even if she has taken the initiative to go and live her dream. When Cian enters her world, she begins to realize that sometimes you just can't plan for things. Sometimes they just happen and in the strangest of ways. And sometimes...it's worth it to throw caution to the wind. I will admit, I didn't like her at first. I thought she was a bit naive, but as the book continued, I saw her strengths immerge. I saw the lightbulbs go on and her decide to grab the reins.

Magdalena and Cian's relationship is full of tension. Slightly from within, of course (I mean he's a vampire, she's not sure how she feels about that, and they just met, what the heck do these irresistible feelings all mean!?), but more so from without. Cian's estranged maker is back and she wants "her boys"--Cian and his brother--back. And she's just crazy enough to do whatever it takes to get them (I mean seriously crazy!), and Maggie's stalker-ex has some major territorial issues and causes his own brand of trouble.

A thrilling and sexy thrill-ride. If you like your vampire fiction, I definitely suggest Tempted by a Vampire. Admittedly, there's nothing overtly unique about it (slightly difficult in a market that was saturated a handful of years ago with vampire paranormal romance), but in its own right it's exciting--likable characters, a titillating romance... And it's well done and well-written (plenty of quoteworthy moments!)

I think Susan has created a series that fans will be excited to jump into again and again (I know personally, there are some side characters that I am desperate to learn more about!). Go ahead, get tempted.

This book was not for me. I am not giving this book 2 stars because it was terrible for everyone, it just didn't appeal to me and I think I would have liked to read an honest and candid review prior to opening it.

The story has no real plot holes or editing issues. There is a significant amount of intense vocabulary; which honestly I thought, at first, was a great way to differentiate between Cian's POV and Mag's POV. He would gravitate to a more formal speech as he is over 200 yrs old and speech and vocabulary has changed over that time and so he might use words that are not in current use. That is not what happened though. It turned out that it was almost thrown in to show off the writer's fabulous vocabulary (or at least the ability to use a thesaurus) and that I did not enjoy.

Both of the lead characters were a little flat or one dimensional. There is little to no character development of either character. Again I expected less development from Cian as he is so old and his personality would be pretty set (or at least I could understand if this was the case); however, Mags didn't have any real development either. I love when a story makes you feel like you know the characters; they are your best friends but I did not get this feeling from these characters. Maybe you will? Because of this I think my favourite character might actually be Lane - he has flaws and acts like a real sentient being at times.

My last critique would be that this book does not have a lot going on. The characters go places and do things but there is not much of an actual story. When I pick up a paranormal book about vampires, werewolves, witches, etc I am expecting a certain level of action and drama. I just feel that this story fell a bit short.

Overall this book was readable and easy. If you are looking for a quick romp with a sexy vampire maybe this book will be for you. If you are looking for a book that is filled with drama and action, I would suggest looking for a different story.

Once again Susan has produced an excellent book that is just way too short!

I just never want them to end :-).

I have found this with the Whisper Cape Series and also The Beaumont Brothers so would definitely recommend this author.

It is so hard to believe that this is her first vampire novel as it was executed perfectly and gripping to the very end. I am now eagerly awaiting the next installment

This story reminded me of Tina Folsom's Scanguards Vampires series. Except I liked that series a little more.
The writing in this story oftentimes rehashed information the reader already knew. How often can a guy tell a girl how beautiful she is? Apparently more often than I can stand. Reading book one was not enough to convince me to buy the rest of the series but for .99 it was an okay read.

(RabidReads.com)Vampire rockers in San Francisco? Yes, please. I am pretty much always up for a good vampire romance, but I also want my vampire reads to make sense, and to involve a good share of mystery and/or action. Just my personal taste. I want to say first, that I really wanted to love this book, I should have loved this book, but ended up only liking it.

Cian is lead singer of the band, The Lost Boys, and they play Saturday nights in the bar that Cian and his fraternal twin brother, Lane, owns. All of the members of the band are vampires and are all about the music. Magdalena, or Mags, has just moved to San Francisco after college to start her dream job in journalism. She has a jerk(and cheater)of a boyfriend, Kellen, who lives and works over an hour drive away from Mags. Her best friend and roommate is Vanessa. Instead of settling in their first night, they go out and end up in Cian’s bar. And that was it for Cian. Love at first sight, soulmates, whatever it is, he has to have her. On Mags part, she is pretty smitten, but still thinks she loves her boyfriend. That being said, they soon have their first date, which quickly ends up way more.

Coincidences. I dislike it when an author uses one to cause action to happen. This book has at least two big ones. Some would call them twists, in these cases to me, not so much. There is a third twist that was a true twist for me, and it really added to the story. As much as I didn’t like the reason for the twist, it was the part of the book that causes all the action in the later part of the read. So that was a good thing.

For the most part, I did mostly enjoy the romance. It’s fast, pretty much insta-love-especially on Cian’s part-and the sexual scenes are pretty intense. As far as world building, there is some and more is alluded to that I found interesting, as well. These vampires have lots of special powers, reading minds, compelling people, teleporting, and of course, no reflection in a mirror. My least favorite thing in a vampire book is the mirror thing, although I have to give this author credit, she does have an interesting spin on this.

I think I might have liked it a bit better if Mags had some flaws. Or Vanessa for that matter. They are both beautiful, and already have their dream, high paying jobs, right out of college. Does that even happen? Mag’s thoughts aren’t very deep, and I guess I just wanted more out of her as a character. The reader gets a bit more about Cian, and a backstory, but mostly he is obsessed with Magdalena. He does have a scene at the beginning of the book that had me almost DNF’ing the whole thing. Compelling someone for blood is one thing, but add in a sexual component with a stranger, and yeah, it came close to losing me. It bothered me, so I felt it needed to be mentioned.

Adult vampire read with a few twists, recommended for paranormal romance readers.

Cassandra Gold - per RFS

Buongiorno Fenici!

Consigliato a lettori dai sedici anni in su.

This was my first time reading anything by Susan Griscom and I found that I enjoyed the way she writes. This is a pretty standard paranormal romance with a couple (or 3) twists thrown in for good measure. I did find myself rolling my eyes at certain parts of the story, but those instances could just nothing more than my overactive brain thinking way too hard. There were also a few questions that were never fully resolved (at least for me they weren't). Since this is the first book in the series, I'm kind of hoping that these questions will be answered in a later story:

- Why didn't Jewels stick around that fateful night?
- What happened with Kellen?

I will admit that my eyes were stuck on rolling at the start of the story with Magdalena and her thoughts and actions when it came to Kellen. She was just too naive when it came to him; at least she got it together relatively early in the story about their relationship and made the right decision.

Magdalena is a decent enough character; there's really nothing about her to dislike. Cian on the other hand, is a great book boyfriend, even if he is a vampire. He's hot (in the looks sense, not the body temperature sense) but sweet and caring. Which is vastly different than how vampires are perceived and written about. He's really, really into Magdalena, to the point of sacrificing himself to save her. Who doesn't want a man like that? And he sings too!

I really enjoyed this story, and I'm hoping we get to learn more about the other characters we got to meet that are a part of Magdalena's and Cian's world.

Update June 1st, 2018:
I read this before. I noticed that it had a new cover, and from reading the blurb, the book was also revised (no revision date given). As it was a freebie, I figured that I'd download it again to check it out, as the story had good bones, and could possibly get a higher rating from me..
THIS IS THE SAME OL' CRAP! And the original cover was more pleasing, in my opinion. Dropping from 3 stars to 2.

This was pretty entertaining, but as I read, I felt like it was missing something, even though I liked the H/h and the vampires' backstories.
What irritated me was the fact that most of the issues going on within the story were easily solved by contrived resolutions, deus ex machina style. That - and the fact that the hero, Cian - whose physical description came across as older, was only 20 years old when he was turned! In a way, Magdalena was robbing the cradle. lol

Being a former San Franciscan, I found it hard to believe that two college graduates starting new jobs were able to score an apartment with a Golden Gate Bridge view right outside of their living room window...REALLY??? Like they could easily afford to pay a monthly rent amount of @ $5,000.00 at the very least? LOL
2.75 stars.

I received a copy in exchange for and honest review. Susan did a great job on her first vampire story. She had not only included vampires but other things as well. I didn't even know where the story was going to go once certain characters came in. The story flowed nicely and kept my attention. She had a few shockers in there and I found the book very entertaining. Great read.

REVIEW
My review is for the revised edition...
I found myself screaming often in this book there are a lot of OMG I didn't see that coming moments.

Maggie and her best friend have moved to San Fransico and she is starting over after her ex-boyfriend cheated again but for the very last time as far as she is concerned.
One night while out with Vanessa she meets a very handsome guy and not just a guy nope he is the lead singer in a band or is he???

This story gives us a bit of everything you enjoy in a pnr book. We get vamps, werewolves, a witch even. And suspense and a bit of action and top it with oh so hot romance. Very good reading.

Surprisingly Sweet

Ho would believe a Vampire as Sweet as Cian. Reading his story and the love he has found, makes this a truly lovely story. With his history and upheaval, he and his brother have managed to become wonderful people. *Despite being Vampires.* Their story and that of Magdalena and the love they found is incredibly beautiful. A wonderful read!

It was my love for the paranormal romance genre that led to me choosing to read and review TEMPTED BY A VAMPIRE. This is my first time reading Susan Griscom's work as such I was going in blind. Based on the blurb I figured it would be a hot and exciting read. Now that it's over I have to say it did not live up to my expectations. It did not blow me away. I found this to be an average read.

TEMPTED BY A VAMPIRE tells the story of a 200-year-old vampire who met and fell in love with a human. These two were as different as night and day but it was evident that they shared a bond. They tried to stay away from each other, but this was easier said than done. Things began heating up but then threats from their past reared its ugly head, putting a damper on their budding romance.

Cian DeMarco is a vampire and a rockstar. He is the lead singer for his band, The Lost Boys. He is hot, sexy and every woman's fantasy. His main focus was his music and interacting with his band members. However, this changed when he met and fell in love with Magdalena.

Magdalena had recently relocated to San Francisco to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist. She was not looking for romance as she was involved in a relationship. She insisted on being loyal to her boyfriend even though he constantly cheated on her. However, after meeting Cian, she began to have doubts.
I enjoyed reading about Cian, but Maggie not so much. I found her annoying and weak. Her boyfriend cheats on her every chance he gets, yet she is willing to forgive him. She was in denial about his feelings for her. She kept making excuses for him. I had difficulty connecting with her.
I wished there was more information on her, as this may have helped me to understand her actions.

I liked the premise, but the story was a bit predictable. I knew who were behind the threats, and it was easy to see the angle the story was going to take. Therefore, as the events unfolded it did not give me that edge of your seat feeling. I have to admit that there was one aspect of the story that caught me by surprise. The romance was good and the sex scenes hot. I liked that other supernatural beings were also included.

TEMPTED BY A VAMPIRE is the first book in The Immortal Hearts of San Francisco series. Will I continue to read the series? It's likely, as I would love to learn more about the other characters, especially Cian's brother.

Recommended for lovers of rock stars, vampires, and other supernatural beings. -

Let me start by saying that I love the cover for this book!

What do you get when you combine a rock star, a billionaire and a vampire? You get hot and sexy Cian DeMarco! Cain believes he is happily living life as the singer of The Lost Boys. But that all changes when he see’s Maggie at Club Royal.

Maggie is the good girl. She is in a relationship with a cheating boyfriend and she is trying to be loyal to him. But all that changes when she meets Cian!

Cian is the ultimate in book boyfriends and he has made his way into my top 5! He is dark and brooding and totally alpha! He is the reason books like this need a warnings that say “now entering a panty melting zone!

Of course things aren’t going to go as smoothly as our couple would like. Cian’s maker comes back into the picture and she has her sights set on Cian. To make matters worse Maggie’s cheating ex is trying to take her away from Cian.

I can’t say enough about this book! It’s been awhile since I have had the pleasure of reading a book with vampires that was this good! Cian and Maggie mesh so well as a couple. The danger and the suspense kept me on edge and I just couldn’t put the book down. The sex was hot, hot, hot!

If you love panty melting alpha vampires, danger, suspense and searing sex, don’t miss this! This book made me fall in love with vampires again!

Him and his band mates played at the Club Royal living life to the fullest. Cian could smell her from the stage, he knew her blood would be sweet, no one has ever effected him like this before. Rockstar vampires be still my heart! I have loved this idea since Ann Rice’s Queen of the Damned. Here we have Cian, his twin Lane and two other vampires that have lived peacefully in San Francisco for seventy years. They own a club where they perform as “The Lost Boys. I enjoyed the family atmosphere of the vampires and really like Cian and Lane.

Cian seeks peace and quiet and has reconciled himself to a lonely existence. Then he sees Magdalena (Maggie) through a restaurant window and immediately falls in love. She shows up at his club the night he is playing and thus begins a whirlwind romance. The romance is sweet and sexy with some great scenes of San Francisco.

Towards the end, the evil vampire that turned Cian and Lane comes back into their lives and causes major problems in conjunction with Maggie’s ex-boyfriend. It’s an interesting twist in the plot and several other secrets are revealed in the process. It also turns a sweet paranormal romance into a thriller.

This is a standalone book, no cliffhanger here. I’m looking forward to the rest of the books in this series, I hope we get Lane’s story next.
