Logan Trahan is one of the French Quarter’s hottest bartenders. A single, charming, sexy southern boy who’s proud to pour the best Pimm’s Cup in town. Yes, that’s his biggest accomplishment. So what?

Dana Doucet is a widowed mom of two who’s doing it all. And doing it well, thank you very much. But she had a moment okay, an entire night of weakness and gave in after, ironically, nine months of Logan’s naughty flirtations. And a couple of those Pimm’s Cups.

It was just one night, but now they’re stuck with each other forever. Or at least for the next eighteen years, eight months, and one week. Not that she’s counting.

Well, this is definitely big. But there’s no way it’s going to be easy.

4.5 stars

I am completely in love with the Boys of the Big Easy series by Erin Nicholas and Taking It Easy is a perfect addition to this series. A bar owner who enjoys ever bit of his bachelor status and a widowed mom of two find common ground and a whole lot more in this charming, fun, and oh so sexy story.

When what was supposed to be a one night stand results in a surprise pregnancy Logan Trahan is all from the start and plans to show Dana Doucet he can be a good husband and a good dad to both their child and her two daughters. I have to say that I loved that Logan was all in from the start and although he at times doubted his abilities to be everything to Dana and her girls, he was determined to learn how. It was refreshing to see a man who had very little responsibility to others jump in with both feet and figure things out in his way despite his worry he was screwing up. I loved his attitude, the easy way he accepted Chloe and Grace, and how much he wanted to make Dana’s life easier.

I had a bit of an issue with Dana and her lackadaisical attitude towards Logan and the fact that she felt he was good to bring fun into the girls lives, help her with running the girls around, and give her orgasms but she doubted his ability to handle the “hard stuff. I will say she made up for it as the book went on. I got that she’d never really had someone she could count on to handle all aspects of their daily lives and it was hard for her to let go and trust someone to get it done, but I’m still kind of holding a bit of a grudge.

I loved Logan’s relationship with Chloe and Grace and how easily they accepted him and grew to need him in their lives. The way he accepted every piece of them even the unusual obsessions and dance drama, and the way he didn’t want to see them upset or crying. I appreciated that Logan was awed by the girl’s late father, Chad and had no problem talking about him with them or Dana. These girls stole not only stole Logan’s heart but mine as well.

While their relationship moved at lightning speed, it was easy to see these two were destined to be in each other’s lives. While they each had their strong suits, they both proved more than capable of doing anything they put their minds to when given the chance. Together they were a formidable team especially when it came to caring for and protecting the girls.

From the first line to the last, Taking It Easy was a highly entertaining romance filled with sweetness, fun, laughter, emotion, and most of all love.

If you thought Gabe and Addison were hot, wait till you read Logan and Dana! I swear, this series just keeps getting better with each story! Logan is everything you'd want in a man: sexy, caring, attentive and FINE. Dana is a hard working single mom who lost her husband in the war. When she gets pregnant during a "one-night stand" with Logan, she wasn't sure how he'd react...but he is ALL IN! The story is about Logan falling in love not just with Dana but with her two girls and learning how to be the man and dad that they all need. It's touching and heartwarming and, oh did I mention, HOT!?!

They lost their heads in the heat of the moment and found their hearts along the way. One night of passion could mean a lifetime of responsibility for the carefree playboy and the ever logical widow. Nicholas serves up a deliciously spicy treat . Taking it Easy is the story of how to heal a broken heart. Logan is the guy that nobody takes too seriously, but the life of the party has a sensitive side. Beneath his shallow facade lies the heart of a deeply romantic man searching for his chance at forever. Dana is the challenge that he never saw coming. She's fire and ice. Hidden within her logical mind lies a bruised heart. Just when she thinks she's ready to move on from the pain of loss, fate has a surprise waiting. Erin Nicholas proves that laughter can be found in some of life's hardest moments.

I absolutely loved Taking It Easy. I was drawn in from the very first line. Logan is a fun loving, sexy southern man who likes to talk dirty and is possessive of Dana. Dana is structured and serious, a complete opposite of Logan, but she has to be since she is a single mother of two girls. After a one night stand, Dana tells Logan she is pregnant and he is thrilled. Logan steps up and helps with Dana's daughters and you can tell he immediately falls in love with them. Your heart melt at the way he takes care of Dana and her girls. Logan and Dana are perfect for each other, they complement each other so well and their chemistry is scorching hot. I love all the characters in this series, especially the way they banter and interact with each other. I read Taking It Easy in one sitting, I could not put it down.

The I was hooked from the first line! Who starts a romance with “I’m going to kill you. A really smart author, that’s who! Logan is a devil may care playboy who loves things light & easy. He’s good at fun! So, when his one night stand with single mom & widow Dana turns into a 9 month situation, everyone is surprised he’s all in. Dana isn’t sure what to do with this side of him. She keeps waiting for him to bail but he keeps stepping up. Can they have forever?

I loved these characters! Logan proves that when his heart is on the line, he can do & take anything. I loved Dana’s two girls! They have completely different personalities & yet I fell for both of them. Their interactions with Logan really stole the story for me! The way he was so protective of their feelings but yet encouraged them to grow.......WOW! The chemistry between Dana & Logan is hot & intense as are the sex scenes but I still have to say the kids sealed it for me. This was such an emotional, heartwarming story that I’m not sure how Ms. Nicholas can top it.

Bringing happy back

This is the second book in Erin Nicholas' new series. For these stories we are in New Orleans and this book really give into the spirit of the city. You can feel the essence of it in everything surrounding them. I started this book with a major book hangover, but got sucked in from the get go. Erin Nicholas' touch makes these characters come to life so brilliantly. They are not extremes but Ms Nicholas' magic is in the details, the feelings, the way she dives into the characters and their stories with such skill that we as readers feel their hope and fears and emotional ride towards falling in love. And the fact that you feel this could be you or your friend or your neighbour. She puts her magic touch to make the everyday struggles and everyday love shine a little brighter, to make us see how love always glitters.

From the first line of this story I was hooked. Logan Trahan was absolutely delicious. He was so easy to love. I really want him in my life. Dana sure was one lucky gal. Taking It Easy was so much fun to read and totally heart melting. Reading about a sexy hot guy taking care of two little girls? My heart just melted. The chemistry between Dana and Logan was sizzling hot too. I loved that Logan tried to hold the sexiness at bay so that he could get to know Dana better. It was so cute. Reading about how their relationship developed was really nice. I really love this world that Erin Nicholas has created. All of the characters in this book were all very wonderful. Interactions between all of them were so fun that I caught myself smiling and laughing out loud at times. Overall a very entertaining and lovely story. I can't wait to read more of this series.

This is second in a series and the characters are a bit entwined. You don't have to read in order because the relationships aren't complex or anything. I would read them in order, but I'm weird like that.

I fell for Logan really early so it wasn't hard to love this book. It started with him going all-in with Dana and their unexpected pregnancy pretty much from the start. No hesitation, but then, he isn't a hesitation kind of guy. Which might have been a huge red flag (Dana certainly has misgivings) but I was delighted to find that his lack of hesitation wasn't a lack of thought or determination or steadiness. His certainty comes from trusting himself that when he puts his heart into something that he is going to see it through because that's just central to who he is. It's a bit of a leap of faith because he doesn't know Dana that well. But when he commits, he commits, and he already knows that Dana is a good mother through having met her through his brother's single-parenting support group.

Dana was harder to attach to because she is so self-contained and her determination to put Logan into the "party-boy" box was a bit frustrating. Yeah, he's a huge extrovert with an eye to entertaining others. But he shows over and over his steady good qualities and seeing him attach so hard to her girls was a swoon and a half. She won my heart once I realized how much it meant to her to take care of others and that her self-reliance came from the desire to see others happy as much as it did the more obvious impulse of protecting herself from needing others. Once that clicked for me, the rest fell neatly into place and I attached as strongly to her as I did Logan.

And let me tell you, seeing Logan with those little girls was heartbreakingly sweet. That man was as outstanding a dance dad for Chloe as he was a fellow-explorer of all things macabre with Grace. But best of all was how careful he was with their hearts every time they were most on the line (like when it came to their dead father).

I had a fear at one point that we were headed for an unnecessary dark moment like the one indulged in the first book in this series. I was so happy to have that fear prove unjustified. And the ending provoked happy-tears. So yeah, five stars it is.

A note about morals and things: I had to stuff down my own moral instincts and upbringing harder in this one than in most. Because my preferred genre is romance, I can generally let go of my expectations around sex and marriage as it's pretty much a certainty that the couple will end up together. Dana pushed that for me in this story because she is seriously committed to the idea of handling things on her own and of Logan continuing to be the fun-time guy she has known him as. Raising children is hard and doing it from separate locations seems like a complete nightmare to me. So her resistance to marriage is foreign to me and I fought that for a large chunk of this story.

A note about Steamy: There are some explicit sex scenes but they're mostly in the first half and amount to the middle of my steam tolerance. They're particularly well-handled, I think, and I like that Nicholas didn't feel the need to keep hitting that theme on the head and pulled back in the latter parts of the story.

Logan nodded slowly. "I know you're talking but I can't concentrate on anything you're saying." He gave a low whistle. "If I hadn't already knocked you up, I'd really be working at it tonight."
"That's a very caveman thing to say," she told Logan.
Logan didn't look a bit apologetic when she looked back at him. "Yeah. You bring out the best in me."
"Being a possessive, mark-your-territory, keep-me-barefoot-and-pregnant caveman is your best?" she asked, crossing the rest of the distance between them.
He reached for her, a hand on her hip, another on her bare shoulder. "I think so. Never been possessive before," he told her, his voice a little husky. "And hell yeah, I want everyone to know you're mine."
Heat unfurled in her stomach at that. She was fully independent. Could handle anything. Had a pretty great life, even having lost her husband. But dang, there was a little bit of her that liked that Logan had never felt like this before. And that liked the idea of being Logan's. Because that would make him hers too. And she liked that a lot.
"But don't you dare go barefoot all the time," he said, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Because these sandals are hotter than hell. In fact, they're staying on tonight. All night. No matter what we're doing."
She laughed, her entire body warm-including her heart. His words weren't flowery or romantic, but they were sincere. Logan Trahan, French Quarter playboy, was totally into her.
And vice versa.

This was cute, I really liked it. Short and sweet, a couple of funny moments and some dirty talking smexy times. It was exactly what I was in the mood for. I liked this one better than Gabe and Addison's book. It was more lighthearted and there wasn't the constant am I making good decisions about my kids inner-monologue. Of course I loved Logan, but I liked Dana way more than I thought I would. I was worried she would be either stuck-up or a stick-in-the-mud type, but she wasn't. I think the biggest surprise for me though was Chad. I really thought I would have a problem with how quick everything seemed to move with Logan and the girls. But the way Dana and Chad's relationship was explained, it worked. There was no replacing him or anything, just a solid "moving-forward" vibe, and I appreciated that. I hope to see more of this family in the next books.

"You okay?"
Dana shook her head. "Cheetos' dust on my furniture is a hard line."
Logan felt a strange rush of relief. "I use wet wipes. I'm not an animal."
She gave a little laugh, and Logan felt his chest tighten again.
"I will be there for this," he said, firmly. "I will be there for all of it." Then he realized that maybe he wasn't making her feel better. "If you want me to be. As much as you want me to be." Then he realized that he really couldn't give her full-on permission to leave him out because he was going to help raise this baby. And Dana really might think it would be better without him. "As long as you let me in on a lot of it. Most of it. Like 95 percent of it."
He watched her watching him. He knew the wheels were turning in her head, and he was holding his breath. He would insist on being involved. He would be a regular pain in her ass if she tried to keep him out of this. Then again, he would probably be a bit of a pain in her ass if she let him in too. They were very different people. She was regimented and organized and in-charge. He was laid-back and loved to have a good time and took only a few things seriously-his good times, his bar, and his family.
She was going to be his family. So she was definitely going to get to see his serious side. Such as it was.
"You can have ninety-seven percent if you keep giving me nights like the one where this all happened," she finally said.
And Logan's knees nearly buckled at the relief that washed over him.
She wanted more. She wanted him. At least in her bed and in the baby's life. That was all he needed to know. It had taken him nine months to talk her into this, but it wasn't like they could get into more trouble, right?
"I'll make you want ninety-nine percent," he nearly growled. Then he took her mouth in a deep, hot kiss. One hundred percent was a lot to ask, but he had no doubt that he could make up for the Cheetos' dust and the other things he was going to bring into her very ordered life. Okay, most of it.

~

"If you're trying to dial back my sex drive, that's not helping." She felt him grin under her hand and she moved it. "What?" she asked about the big smile.
"Guys know that women go all gaga when we're sweet with kids, you know."
"Well that would be kind of hard to miss." It was hardly a secret. "Is that why you were so great with the kids at all the support group family gatherings?"
"Of course."
It had worked, she couldn't deny.
"I mean, that and the squirt guns. And because dodgeball is the greatest game ever. And because I'm awesome at hide-and-seek, thank you very much. And that I can justify eating extra snow cones when I'm hanging with them. And extra marshmallows in my cocoa. And-"
Dana slapped her hand back over his mouth, laughing. "Okay, I get it. There are lots of perks."
He wrapped his fingers around her wrist, but before he pulled her hand back, he gave the center of her palm a little lick. She sucked in a quick breath as her core clenched. He gave her a look that was hot and sweet at the same time. "But yeah, making this baby with you was the biggest one."
And the quick breath that lodged in her chest grew into a giant ball of emotion.
She sniffed.
"Oh no," he said. "There's no crying in accidentally getting knocked up by the hottest bartender you've ever met."
She laughed again. And sniffed again. "That's ridiculous. That's the perfect thing to cry about."
"Okay, maybe," he conceded.
"But," she felt compelled to add, for some reason. "there's no crying when that hot bartender is actually a really great guy and doesn't think my little girl is a weirdo and doesn't throw his hands up at the idea of ladybug barrettes."
Emotion that looked a lot like affection and maybe a touch of surprise flickered in Logan's eyes. But he said, "Yet."
"Yet?"
"I haven't thrown my hands up about the barrettes yet."
She smiled, feeling the ball of emotion behind her breastbone warm into a gooey, sweet blob.
"And I definitely think Grace is a weirdo," he said. "But I get it. And I like it."
Dana felt the tears threatening, but he was right. She had no reason to cry over any of this. It was amazing.

~

He reclaimed his seat next to her and took her hand again.
"Come home with me after this," she said.
"What for?" he said, a teasing glint in his eye.
"Yes. For that," she said honestly. How could she not want this man?
"Im starting to think you only want me for my body."
And she was starting to fear-no, she was way past starting-that she wanted him for way more than that. "Well, we can watch TV or something boring like that," she said with a little shrug. "But if I don't give you a blow job for that"-she gestured to the stage-"I could lose my woman card."
"Yeah?" he asked. "That's in the rule book?"
"Dancing with a woman's daughter to help her get the routine right, in front of her classmates? Oh, yeah. Definite blow job stuff."
He settled back in his chair with a smug look. "Okay, I'll let you give me a blow job. But," he said before she could respond to that. "we have to spend at least twenty minutes talking about a current news event first."
Dana had no idea what to do with this guy. So she just nodded. She could do that. Probably.
"And I want something serious. And nothing that has anything to do with the girls," he added.
"Wow, something serious in the news. We might have to really search, but I'm sure we can find something," she said dryly.
He smiled. "That's my girl." Then he added, "But we can stop for ice cream on the way home, right?"
And there was her guy.

~

"I was all set to tell you about the turtle I saved from an alligator once. Scooped him right up out of the water just before the gator got there."
She lifted a brow. "Really?"
"True story. I swear." He paused. Then gave her a grin. "You can ask my mom."
Dana smiled. "Not your brother? Who was probably there?"
How did she know that? "Admittedly, their versions of the story are a little different from each other's. But only in how far away the gator was from the turtle, and my hand, at the time," Logan said.
"And maybe if there was a gator there at all?" Dana asked with a knowing smile.
"There was," Logan assured her. "I mean…there had to have been, right? They're all over down there."

~

Logan realized he was ranting about little girls' hairstyles for dance class. He knew that Josh and Gabe and Owen would get a real huge kick out of this. He knew he should reel it in. It was barrettes, for fuck's sake. But, dammit. He'd come up with that style and everyone loved it. Especially Chloe. That was really the bottom line. Chloe was proud to have him there and involved. And now Tiffany was trying to screw it all up.
"Okay, so what happened?" Dana asked, crossing her arms. "Tell me the story."
"Fine." He blew out a breath. "So last night, we're all there, everyone's ready and she and her kid-"
"Jada." Dana supplied.
"Right. Jada. The diva."
Dana's eyebrow rose and Logan nodded. Yeah, he'd just used the word diva. Out loud.
"Anyway, Tiffany and Jada just blew in there last night, late, and started talking about how we needed to rethink the style. I've never even seen her there so I was just kind of hanging back, but I'll admit, I was getting annoyed. But then the other moms pointed out that I'd come up with it, and she looked me up and down and said, 'I guess that explains it.'" He paused. "She said it with this tone."
Dana bit her bottom lip.
Logan sighed. "I know. I hear myself. But-"
"Welcome to mom-hood."

Logan had one night of passion with widowed Dana Doucet, a single mom of two. That one night will change their worlds when the "+" sign shows on the pregnancy test. Logan is all in from the start. From being a dad, to a potential husband and even dad to her two kids. Dana....no so much. Having had a military husband who died on the battlefield she is use to doing everything pretty much alone. When he came back home she would let him enjoy the fun of being with his kids. That is what she wants from Logan, not expecting more.

Logan works hard but willingly at not only being there from her kids but also in being their for her. She is slow to realize he is all in the good and the bad, the fun and the serious. Issues will arise, of course, like they do in life, and she must notice he doesn't want to be the fun dad, he wants to be the all in dad.

I love this series, little issues with this book. Logan goes all in wanting marriage after one night of sex? I aint a huge fan or insta-lust/love. That is on me though. That is the great thing about the arts. I can see a masterpiece and you can see words on a page disaster. Thus the greatness of every new piece of "art"

Erin Nicholas knocked it out of the park with her latest book in the Boys of the Big Easy series!! I absolutely loved this book! Logan Trahan makes everything fun and that's exactly what Dana Doucet needs. This book had me laughing out loud and I even cried (but for a good reason). This book was wonderful, I may have to start reading it again!

Darn it, she did it again. Just when I think Erin Nicholas can't get any better, she goes and does it. I loved the first book in this series, and I was a little concerned that there was just no way that I could possibly like the second book THAT much, because while I liked Logan in the first book (Gage's brother), he didn't jump out me and have me begging for his story (like I have for many of Nicholas's other heroes). But I could not have been more wrong!

She had me hooked on Logan so much, so quickly in this book...this book surprised me! Right from the first page! This book is very hot -- there are lot of really great steamy scenes that took my breath away, but honestly, my favorite scenes are the sweet. There are so many great sweet scenes in this book...and what makes them great is that they are not syrupy sweet...this is not the stomach-ache inducing sweet-- this is the kind of sweet that melts your heart and your panties at the same time. It's AMAZING. And these kids!?! I am not usually a huge fan of the dynamics introduced by adding kids...but Nicolas won me over to her side on this with the first book in the series, Going Down Easy...and this one got me even more. These kids are terrific. I loved that Logan wasn't fake nice or stupid nice with the kids, he was just himself and accepted them for who they were, foibles and all, and loved them.

I loved watching Logan grow, and seeing that he, in many ways, was WAY more ready for the family situation than anyone was ready to give him credit for. He was so adorable and loving and just trying so hard!

Dana was a great character, so strong, so independent, so sure she didn't need anyone else, couldn't need anyone else...one of my favorite things about Erin Nicholas is that she writes characters that you believe in. You get to know them, and they are not perfect people. They have strengths, but they have their weaknesses too. For them to find their happy endings, they all have to grow in some way, and they have to accept some things about themselves that they may not have known or liked, and they may have to accept some things about others that they may not have known or liked...and while yes, it's a hot romance novel and everyone is sexy and beautiful, they are also very down to earth people with jobs and bills and families and real life challenges. So, there's enough fantasy to help you escape your reality--but enough reality to make you feel like you KNOW these characters. You WANT to hang out with them, spend time with them, you ROOT for them.

I LOVED this book, and I could not be happier about it. Or more flummoxed! I don't know WHAT I will do when the next one comes out. Goodness help me if it's even better!

I didn’t think it could get any hotter in New Orleans, but Erin Nicholas just proved me wrong! When Logan was introduced in his brother Gabe’s story, I knew that smooth drawl was a definite attraction for the ladies. I just didn’t realize it was a certified baby-maker, too!
I loved how quickly Logan, and Dana, got on board with the idea of this oops-a-baby they created after just one night together. He was ready to go all-in...loving together, marriage, and taking care of not just Dana and the baby, but Dana’s two girls, Chloe and Grace, too. But Dana was thinking about Logan being a helping hand, not an equal partner. And while she, and Probably others, saw him as just the “fun uncle, in charge of parties and good times, this reader saw more. And it made me more than a little angry at Dana!
I adore kids in books, so watching Logan take care of those two little girls...while all Chloe’s dance drama and Grace’s slight (sarcasm) obsession with all thing creepy, I couldn’t help but take his side when Dana tried to keep him in his place. And okay, fine, I could see her side of things, too, based upon what she’d had to endure as a soldier’s wife/widow. Doesn’t mean I didn’t want to smack her for doubting Logan’s abilities and commitment.
So, Gabe got knocked down from the podium for favorite Trahan brother! While I can’t wait for the next Boys of the Big Easy to come out, I’ll just sit around daydreaming about that slow drawl, sweet and dirty talking, hunky bartender.
In my top ten most memorable romance hunks, the men of Erin Nicholas books hold at least 6 or 7 of those spots. So if you’re looking for a fun, romantic, sexy story, click that buy button, grab some sweet tea and enjoy Taking It Easy. Then binge any other books in her collection you’re missing...they’re all great reads!

Sweet, spicy, and allllll man. The only way to describe Lohan Trahan. It was great to read a hero who not only didn't run but was ready to commit when his fling shows up pregnant. Dana on the other hand didn't find the situation at all okay and was more confused by her playboy's reaction than anything else. It took a while for these two to get it together as you would expect from two people from entirely different situations. Logan's reaction to certain dance moms was THE BEST and exactly how I would imagine him to react. Dana drove me a little crazy at how cautious she was with Logan coupled with how much she didn't want to talk things out but I understood her reasons. And Logan surprised me a few times, surprised Dana too, at how much more to him there was than the party guy. They balanced each other out and were a great fit. Dana's girls were a nice addition and stinking hilarious! I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Taking it Easy

I can't think of anyone who wouldn't fall in love with Logan. He charmed me from the very beginning of the book, but definitely had me swooning when he was standing up for Dana's daughter. This was a really feel good book.

Smiles. Laughter. Tears. A heart full of joy. This is reading Erin Nicholas. This is reading Taking It Easy, the second in her Boys of the Big Easy series.

Taking It Easy is about Logan Trahan and Dana Doucet. Logan is one of the French Quarter's most charming attractions. He's been happy to be an excellent bartender and an even better uncle to his brother's kids. What he never aspired to was fatherhood, but after just one incredible night, that's about to change.

Dana is a widowed mom of two fabulous girls, and has been making this single-parenthood thing work quite well. After indulging herself just once--well, one night--now she's stuck with co-parenting for the foreseeable future.

What remains to be seen--whether Logan can prove to himself and to Dana that he's an even better father than uncle and bartender, and whether what they have together is worth making last hundreds or even thousands of nights...

Erin Nicholas brings her trademark humor and heart to Taking It Easy, and brings these single parents and their families to life. When life presents the unexpected, sometimes that is exactly what's needed to reveal what we didn't even know we wanted, but ultimately completes us.

Logan and Dana are complex people, and what people see as their first impressions definitely cover hidden depths. I love how Ms Nicholas gives us the chance to see their vulnerabilities and the quiet moments, as well as the community that surrounds and loves them.

I cannot wait for the next in the Boys of the Big Easy series. In the meantime, I have Taking It Easy and Going Down Easy to re-read.

I didn't think I was going to fall in total love with this book. The oops baby trope doesn't tend to be one of my faves and Logan has a reputation as a serious playboy (as established in Book 1). But I was wrong. So completely wrong. This might be my new favorite Erin Nicholas title (although, IDK I do have a serious soft spot for Billionaires in Blue Jeans). I SO identified with Dana, as the one who makes everything run smooth, who just...takes care of IT ALL for everyone around her. And Logan, as it turns out, is EXACTLY my type. The guy who swoops in and takes care of things...even the things she didn't realize needed taking care of. Watching him fall in love with her two daughters was an absolute delight. And if you are not killed dead by the AWWWWs of the purple hair bow, then you have no heart and should seek immediate intervention. Two thumbs up and a double squee cannon salute!

Eh.

This book wasn't really what I expected, and mostly Dana grated on me. I don't know what Logan likes about her, honestly, because she's a bit of a condescending twat.

Eh.

Wow! Erin Nicholas has done it again. Erin Nicholas is a fabulous writer who knows how to capture her readers hearts. She captivated me from page one and kept me captivated all the way through the end. I was left wanting more. Her writing is enchanting. She truly has a way with words. She always delivers a fantastic read that is beyond romance. She gives a great story. She introduces us to believable storylines and realistic characters and struggles that are relatable.

In Taking It Easy we get Logan Trahan's story. Logan owns a New Orleans bar with his brother Gabe. Logan is considered the fun loving uncle and brother and son. Logan has a very relaxed and laid back attiude and is very charming. Logan can melt a woman's heart like heat can melt chocolate. Logan is temptation on a stick.
Dana Doucet is a single mother of two amazing daughters Grace and Chloe. Dana's husband Chad was a war hero who died in action. After two years Dana sleeps with Logan one night. They have one hot, sticky and very sweet night of passion that ends in a pregnancy.Ìý

I'm gonna just say that Grace really warmed my heart. Logan explores the aspect of death and ghosts with Grace due to she believes her father lives in their house. Logan never makes Grace feel like she is out of sorts or a freak. Logan really is amazing with Chloe in ways he deals with her. He learns everything there is to hair and buns and twists and braids. I loved how Logan knew Goodnight Moon. I loved how on his first dinner with Dana and her daughter's Logan's entire family shows up with him. I loved how Josh surprised Logan with his knowledge of girls hair styles. Logan even comes up with a good solution to a rice krispie treats problem. Logan shows us ordinary can be extraordinary. That it's not always the big things that matter or make a difference but infact the little things like brushing a girls hair or or getting a little girl to her dance recital or talking to a six year old about ghosts that matter more. Yes ladies Logan Trahan is sweeter than any sweet you could imagine.

Erin Nicholas really did deliver an amazing book. My heart swooned and melted over and over. She captivated my heart and soul with her words. She had me laughing at moments in the book. While other moments were sweet and heartwarming and just deliciously mouth watering. I have read Taking It Easy all the way through two times it's just that great. Thank you Erin Nicholas for this beyond amazing book.

Logan and Dana are so freakin' adorable I had a literary toothache from all the sweetness. We also have cute, endearing kids, plenty of laughter and lots of steam, but at its heart, this book is love. Love, in all of its messy, magnificent glory. It's a carefree bar owner taking on dance practice duty and an interest in ghosts to keep a child's memory of her father alive. It’s glitter and slime and “Room Dad" snacks, and embracing another's lists and need for order or their quirks and weirdness. It's care and clean-up duty during a bout with the flu and sticking through the tears, mean dance moms and hard stuff. It's the beauty in ordinary things, the small little miracles, and the peace and contentment of those in-between moments.

Erin Nicholas is one of my favorite authors, so I was thrilled to be able to read an early copy of this book. I know I can count on her for an entertaining, steamy read that will tug on the heart strings, but Nicholas definitely brought her “A game with this one! Yes, this book has passion, terrific chemistry and a heartfelt romance. There are misunderstandings and grand gestures, drying of tears and light-hearted laughter. But it’s the everyday, ordinary love, shown in a thousand different ways, that make this book truly special, because it reminds us to recognize and appreciate the love in those small, mundane acts in the minutiae of our own lives.

Truthfully, I was already half in love with Logan from the first book in the series, but he turned out to be so much more than I anticipated. Yes, he’s a charming, flirty, ladies man with a sexy drawl and a swoon-worthy grin to melt the coldest female heart, but he has surprising depth, an amazing heart and an appealing protective streak when it comes to “his girls. I love the way an organized, in control Dana decided how she thought things between them would work and Logan blew in like a hurricane, stealing her heart and obliterating her plans. Add in Dana's two young daughters and the way they and Logan fell in love with each other, along with the poignant tenderness between them and, well, we're back to sweetness overload. Every last one of them stole my heart and I’m nose over toes in love with this precious family. This little cast of characters is one I'll hold in my heart for a long time, and obviously I recommend their phenomenal, inspiring, heartwarming, feel-good story. I can’t wait for the next book in this fantastic series!

I am loving Erin Nicholas Boys of the Big Easy series so much and I am in love with Logan Trahan in Taking It Easy, book 2 of this series. Logan is the easy-going, fun-loving guy that all the ladies go crazy over, but he shows that he is more than that when he finds out he and Dana are going to have a baby together. I really liked Logan and Dana together and they complemented each other well; Logan’s fun-loving nature and Dana’s seriousness balance each other. His dirty talking had Dana swooning along with me. I loved his relationship and interaction with Dana’s daughters Chloe and Grace which was so sweet and just melted my heart. Logan’s scenes where he learned all about girls hair accessories and hairstyling had me laughing out loud. I loved how hands-on he is with what’s going on with Chloe and Grace. Once again this author knows how to take the readers on a sexy adventure with heartwarming moments and some laughter. This series has become one of my favorite from Erin Nicholas and I cannot wait for the next book.

3 stars
My three stars are for Logan, the kids, and the other members of the single parents support group. I have no stars to give Dana because she was awful. It wasn't until the last chapter that she stopped testing Logan, and I thought that was completely unfair. I loathed the way she behaved about him, and I also wish Gabe had stood up for him earlier, too. I just couldn't buy into her behaviour because she said it had a lot to do with how things were when Chad was home, but she made Chad's time at home different to what she needed, so how can she place all the blame there? And it got. SO. REPETITIVE. I wish there had been more scenes with Logan and the kids, rather than such a big focus on the sex (couldn't care about these scenes because of Dana and found myself skimming) or Dana's POV. The only reason I didn't DNF this is because of Logan's relationship with the girls. Ugh. I hope the heroine in the next book isn't such an insufferable shrew.

Second read - 24 December, 2020
DNF
I wasn't buying into it this time around - not the romance, not the plot, not the character development. DNF and unhauled.

Logan is the fun uncle. He runs his bar with a laid back attitude and the easy smile showing just enough flirtation to get the women to swoon for him. Dana is a widow raising two girls. She doesn't have time for fun. Logan has been pursuing Dana and she has finally given in to his kind of fun. Now they have another eighteen years of a different kind of fun together. When Dana lets Logan know about the baby, his reaction is totally not what she expected. He's thrilled beyond words and proposes immediately! Dana didnt have plans for any of this much less marriage to a man she barely knows. And he barely knows her or her daughters or their routines. How is he ever going to fit? She decides to let him help with the more fun stuff for the girls. They are going to be together for the foreseeable future after all.
So I have mixed feelings about what Dana expects from Logan. She places a label on him based on what she perceives him to prefer. Yes, he admits to being the fun uncle. Isn't that what we all strive for as aunt's or uncles? Being the decision or rule maker is the parent job. And she is giving him a trial run on being a parent. But yet he's left out of those tough choices. She is used to doing things on her own and I get that too. She is their mother and has to put them above everything.
Logan ( I swoon just thinking about him) is putting himself out there. He doesn't know how to soothe the girls fears and anxieties. But he goes above and beyond to figure it out. Chloe needs her hair up to go to dance rehearsal. Logan didn't know but uses a shoelace to tie it up. Then goes all out to learn about hair and how to put it up, put it back and braid it. I still get all tingly inside when i think about him practicing on Dana. Even though they live in New Orleans, Logan never really thought about death and ghosts. Until Grace. She is a six year old obsessed with al of it since her dad has passed and she wants to keep him close. Logan explores all of that with her and never makes her feels as if she's weird. He does so much to prove he is dad material all without even trying.
Erin Nicholas writes characters that sneak up on you. Logan is the perfect example. On the surface, he's the fun loving bachelor that enjoys it too much to settle down. Then he finds his girls and he's all in. They are his to protect, love and cherish. You fall for him without even trying.

Ripped Bodice Bingo 2020: Dad Jokes

(This is a pretty technical bingo hit - there are dads, and they tell jokes and they're goofy).

I had pretty low expectations of this, to be honest, but it was actually charming! I'm not normally into books where one character bonds with their partners kids but this was good & Logan was just a really good dude. Dana... could have been fleshed out more
