Sailor Saturn, patron saint of goth girls everywhere.

Also, this volume really drove home (again) for me how much more adult (and at times rather horrific and violent) Sailor Moon could be, which it never got credit for later on, so often dismissed as flighty girls' fare. These ladies go through a lot, and are badasses always; respect!

I really enjoyed the main stories in this volume, as well as one of the two extras. But once again they had to throw in a story featuring the cringe child crushing on her father storyline. Why do they keep doing this? Ugh.

I was already enjoying this volume, and then to find the Sailor Moon S: Hearts In Ice movie source material in this volume¡¯s short stories? Made my night. Luna¡¯s love story is so touching. Combine that with the snowy environment and the astronauts and it¡¯s a beautiful Kate Bush song waiting to happen. Okay, time to rewatch the movie yet again.

Ok, I need two more series now! I need to the Silver Millennium in the past, and then a fun spin off of Setsuna, Haruka and Michiru raising Hotaru!
The outer senshi bring this series to a darker place with higher stakes, and I'm enjoying it!

Another enjoyable volume. There¡¯s more exposition in this one, but I still enjoyed the conflict between the outer solar Sailor Scouts and the inner circle. I remember the film on this arc and I really liked Hotaru¡¯s story. Of course, all the added stories in the anime made Usagi and Chibiusa¡¯s relationship appear more developed so it¡¯s easier to understand her feelings for her than in the manga.

Sidenote: I didn¡¯t remember the story with Usagi and Haruka going quite like this. Also, I line that 2 16 year olds decided to raise a baby and no one bat an eye.

5 stars for bonus stories! I love this one! It has everything! Super Sailor Chibi Moon, Sailor Saturn, and Princess Kaguya! Although, Chibi Usa's continued crush on Mamo-chan is creepy.

Another great volume. So happy to fully have Saturn here now and really love her relationship with Chiba-Usa. Some of the short stories are in this volume as well and the Luna one is sweet. I love getting more from her and some from Artemis though I wish there was more of him as well. Can't go wrong with Sailor Moon.

The enemies for this arc still annoy me. Why did they not die last volume, and why did the same attacks actually kill them this time? More of this volume was about the battles than the last volume, so it was a bigger issue for me this volume.

The last two stories in this volume were very good. It was cool to read about the different real Japanese space organizations, even if some of the details of who would go to space were optimistic. Kakeru has an enlarged heart (Himeko promises she'll take him to space someday) and it's inferred Himeko is pregnant while she's on the mission.

I loved some of the art in this volume in particular. The big group color pages were beautiful, and the Sailor Super transformation panels are particularly magical.

The climax of the Infinity Arc is pretty great. We start with Chibi-Usa on death's door as things ramp up immediately. The Sailor Guardians band together in order to stop the Big Bad and Especially the Inner Guardians feel more present and useful than ever before. It really feels like the middle arc is where Naoko found her stride in terms of characterization and pacing. It's still a little abbreviated, but feels stronger than the previous two arcs.

Uranus, Neptune and Pluto continue to be GOAT'ed and Saturn steals the entire show. She has so much presence.

One thing I do wish was that the action scenes were a little more... action-y. Every enemy in the series is generally handled by someone (80% of the time that someone is Sailor Moon) using their attack one time and totally obliterating the enemy. At least in the 90s series the others had to weaken the monsters first.

Infinty's arc moves straight into the set-up for the next arc, Dream. Because of that, if this is your first time reading the story it might be confusing how this build-up of a solar eclipse will continue directly from at the 2/3 mork of the book, when there's other stories which appear in the collection after.

The first included side story is Chibi-Usa's Picture Diary 2. I liked this one a lot less than the previous Picture Diary, and it's kind of the reason I dropped a star. Technically, I wouldn't only dropped it half a star, but hey. That's the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ system. Not much I can do about it. Anyways, the story in this one is fun tho the end gets really bizzare, even by Sailor Moon standards, and the antagonist being evil because it... encourages women to have careers and not need men... is uh. Something. Like, I get what they're going for-- misandry is bad (mmmkay) and both men and women are needed to propogate the species, but the antagonists being weird straw feminists in a series that celebrates so many forms of womanhood is not acute look. (Says a cis white guy, so take my opinion with a grain of salt)

The second story is The Tale of Snow Princess Kaguya, which would be adapted into the Sailor Moon S anime film in the 90s. This story is pretty good. The best part is the heavy focus on Luna, who gets kind of sidelined for a majority of the plot. This story gives her much needed characterization. The story of the fragile Kakeru and the bold Hime is great and plays with traditional gender dynamics (and I'm such a sucker for strong gal + soft boi pairings) and overall, the two have a very nuanced relationship. Really dug it.

There's some especially gorgeous art here. The way Naoko draws the transluscent shawl on Kaguya is cool. Unfortunately, the antagonist herself is pretty one note. She's attracted to Kakeru's lonliness, which I thought was interesting, but not much else came about it. Her origins are very Sailor Moon lite, and though I think focusing on Luna and the two new human characters was the right call, it would've been nice to have more oomph behind the antagonist. Still! I really enjoyed the story, and I'm finding the manga more and more enjoyable the longer it goes on.

In regards to the main portion of the book, I liked it. It wasn¡¯t my favorite installment, and sometimes I kind of got lost and confused. I couldn¡¯t tell if that confusion was due to the actual plot line, translation issues, or my own comprehension issues, but in the end it mattered little. The story was still quite enjoyable and as usual, I adored the art.

As for the two short stories at the end of the book, I really enjoyed ¡°Kaguya Hime¡¯s Beloved¡± as it was really sweet and I loved the feminist, women in stem undertones. As an aspiring woman in aerospace, I appreciated Himeko¡¯s persistance through a fight to be taken seriously in a male dominated field.

Unfortunately, I found the installment of ¡°Chibiusa¡¯s Picture Diary¡± to be lacking in terms of feminism. At one point Chibiusa calls out a Sailor Moon imposter, saying ¡°Sailor Moon¡¯s legs aren¡¯t that chunky!¡± Then it progressed into a montage of the imposter crying over how ¡°ugly¡± she looked like without makeup. I was hoping the short story would end with a lesson about inner beauty or something similar, or her coming to the realization that larger thighs and a lack of makeup don¡¯t make her ugly, but instead it ended with the imposter girls husband claiming that although it would be nice to have a young girl with slender legs, he could settle for a ¡°strong, practical woman¡± instead. As if slender women can¡¯t be ¡°strong¡± or larger women can¡¯t be ¡°nice¡±. That just didn¡¯t sit right with me, but that story took up like 5% of the book max, so I didn¡¯t really base my overall rating on it.

Flous??

Ah et ?a y est on va commencer l'arc de la horse girl era et j'ai tr¨¨s peur de ce que ?a va rendre en manga ?

Love Sailor Saturn and that whole arc. I kind of thought Luna's "love story" was strange. Why is a cat in love with a human?

The Mugen/Infinity story arc is concluded in these chapters, satisfactorily wrapping up one of the most exciting storylines so far, and concluding things in a way in which character development doesn't take a backseat to the action. Having all the sailor scouts of the outer planets present has made for great developments in the story, while the inner planet scouts still have plenty to contribute as well. There are bonus stories included here, a fun Chibi Usa entry as well as a thoroughly developed romantic astronautical Christmas tale.

This edition of the Eternal Edition includes chapters 34-38 of the original manga, as well as Chibi Usa¡¯s Picture Diary, Chapter 2: Beware of Tanabata and The Love of Princess Kaguya.

This is my favorite volume so far. I am absolutely in love with Chibi-Usa and Hotaru¡¯s love story. There was less random diatribe about villain inner politics and more character building and heart this time. Good good. (I can¡¯t believe I loved Sailor Moon this much growing up and never read/watched this far in the series. Though to be fair, the anime was only on tv through R and there was no manga at all published in the US back then)

Who is the Sovereign of silence? Are the Outer Solar system Scouts friend or foe? The demons sent out by Professor Tomoe are wrecking Tokyo to get haste for Pharoah 90. Can Usagi and the gang save the world again.

This volume has the return of Sailor Pluto. And we learn about the final scout, Sailor Saturn.

The volume contains the ending of the the Infinite Arc (or as the anime calls it Sailor Moon S or Sailor Moon Super), the kickoff to next story line, the Dream Arc (or as the anime calls it Sailor Moon SuperS), a Chibiusa side story, AND the manga version of the second Sailor Moon Movie, the Love of Princess Kaguya. We good? We're good. It's a BIG volume for this edition.

The cover is graced by everyone's first anime lesbian couple, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. I've never been terrible fond of Uranus' almost white manga hair, but her space sword her looks better than it ever did in the 90's anime. As always, Neptune's hair is perfect.

The Infinite arc is famous for rounding our the Sailor Team with the complete solar system, but boy are the villains bonkers. The Death Busters are aliens, they're from another dimension, they're the Witches 5, they're a mad scientist, they're monsters implanting souls into human hosts, they're Mistress 9 (who is also Hotoru, who is also Sailor Saturn the Senshi of Death), and they're Master Pharaoh 90. It's a soggy mess. Reading it issue by issue, month by month, this never bothered me in high school, but it bothers me now.

After Uranus and Neptune's characters are established, poor Pluto is just thrown in there, which is a tragedy, because I feel she has so much to offer as a different type of character, alas. By far the best part of the second half of this arc is Hotaru and Chibiusa's friendship. In protecting Chibiusa and her friends, Hotaru realizes her mission, and a strength she never thought she had. Naoko makes it clear her school girls have an important duty that exists bey0nd themselves. Hotaru may appear like a dainty girl, but she has a cosmic duty that she chooses to fulfill.

I do pick at Chibiusa. Her transformation into Super Sailor Sailor Chibi Moon feels unearned. Sure, Hotaru has just sacrificed her life for Chibiusa's, but it doesn't feel like Chibiusa earned that transformation, she literally just floats over to Sailor Moon. It's just one of those things that Chibiusa gets to do because someone behind the scenes is a fan, although I never understand why.

This climax is the first time in the series Usagi isn't supported solely by Mamoru. All though he still is very much part of the Sailor Team in the manga, Usagi takes this final battle into her own hands. Powered up by every planetary senshi (notably not her partner or her daughter) she dives into the black mass that is Master Pharoah 90. I like this finale in comparison to the first two manga, it feels like a huge moment.

Although I don't think Takeuchi is a real master of sequential art, there is climactic panel where Sailor Saturn Swings her Silence Glaive, in her Death Reborn Revolution. The two page splash is simple, with no shading, dark colors, or sound effects. I felt the silence through the page. Takeuchi has a lot of characters, powers, and items she has to manage, and over all I feel she does it well. And I have to give her fashion props, all of the guardians have GREAT normal person outfits, which the 90's anime totally ignore to it's own detriment.

The Sailor Moon Eternal Edition is a tribute to Naoko Takeuchi's iconic series and an absolute must-have for fans¡ªwhether those who grew up with the series or newcomers discovering the magic of the Sailor Guardians for the first time.

Price: Approximately €30 per volume

Design and Quality
One of the first things that stands out is the stunning design of the Eternal Edition. With its large-format, high-quality hardcover volumes and shimmering accents on the cover, it exudes elegance and timelessness. The pages are printed on thick, glossy paper, which beautifully highlights the intricate illustrations and delicate lines of Takeuchi's art.
The color illustrations, which were hard to find in the original manga release, are included here, significantly enhancing the visual experience.

Content
The story of Sailor Moon remains untouched in this edition, recounting the tale of Usagi Tsukino, an ordinary schoolgirl who learns that she is the reincarnation of the Moon Princess. As Sailor Moon, she must fight against dark forces. Supported by her companions¡ªthe other Sailor Guardians¡ªand her "protector," Tuxedo Mask, she embarks on adventures filled with magic, friendship, and self-discovery.

What makes this edition special is its restored and revised translation. It stays closer to the Japanese original, lending greater authenticity to the dialogue while preserving key terms and names such as "Silver Millennium" and "Princess Serenity" in their original form. This attention to detail will delight long-time fans and provide new readers with an unfiltered experience.

Value for Fans and Collectors
The Eternal Edition is not just a manga but a collector¡¯s item. For long-time fans who grew up with Sailor Moon, it offers a perfect way to relive nostalgic memories. For collectors, it¡¯s a beautiful addition to any bookshelf, distinguished by its quality and design.

Conclusion
The Sailor Moon Eternal Edition is a fantastic re-release of a classic that has captivated generations for decades. Whether you're a long-time fan or just stepping into the world of Sailor Moon, this edition deserves a permanent spot in your collection.
That said, I noticed some aspects of the manga that were newly illuminated for me, while others were omitted or not treated as they were in the series. I repeatedly noticed differences between the two.

Additionally, I found it interesting that although Sailor Moon was a pioneer for the LGBTQIA+ community, some statements in the manga seem odd¡ªsuch as the scene where Bunny remarks to herself that girls shouldn¡¯t love each other. I wonder if this was altered later on...

The conclusion of this arc goes hard, with the usual particle effects being supplemented by backgrounds of destruction and a real sense of scale that's often missing from earlier fight scenes. The plot is predictable but comforting. There's a happy ending that doesn't just throw away all the worries set up in volume 5. It's also really refreshing to have characters who only fawn over Sailor Moon sometimes and have their own lives to live.

However, the extras in the back half of the book are confusing, half baked and generally make me feel like I'm reading some X-Men annuals. The lack of explanatory material in these editions about where these chapters come from really hurts a first time reader like me. My going theory is that these side series where everyone is best buds happen in the magic space between panels where action figures and trading cards live, the Status Quo zone that never existed in the main story. I'm over Chibi-Usa already but clearly the author isn't.

The relationship dynamics in the side stories are uncomfortable, but if we want to give Takeuchi credit for Sailor Uranus in the last volume, we can't start complaining about her boundary pushing now.

I¡¯m only writing a synopsis of the book so you may not want to read this review ??

The last book ended with chibi USA in a coma. Now the sailor scouts are fighting for her soul aka hotia.

They fight off the invading aliens and sailor Saturn sends them back to the Tau Galaxy. She is reborn and Sailor Uranus, Pluto and Neptune take the baby Saturn to raise. And yet in the next story the baby is gone and the three are back in the storyline like they never left.

Now that the threat to the end of the world is over Serena and her friends are entering high school and her boyfriend is entering his first year as a new student at Ko University.

Final story is Luna falling for Kakeru a space engineer who may be in love with Him¨¦ also an wanna be astronaut. He found a meteor and named it Princess Snow Kaguya and a crystal he found transforms into an evil alien that Luna get the sailors scouts to fight off. And for her Christmas wish Luna gets to be a human for one night and kiss Kakeru, for one night only.

Still love the Infinity Arc, just wish there was more time for smaller stories to build up the characters.

I also loved rereading the Snow Kaguya manga, I love that it focuses on Luna and always loved how romantic it was (and all the astro-physics! Kakeru wearing a coat and scarf to Florida to visit the Kennedy Space Center (Hah)!).

The main complaint I have is that the Chibi-Usa picture diary is just kind of a mess. I liked her adventure with the vampires, but here the villains were under-developed, and I honestly to this day remember how much seeing Chibi-Usa call someone fat (and how it kept coming up as a punchline) REALLY messed with me as a kid. Considering that the "happy ending" is weird I don't really know what lesson we were supposed to learn. And seeing 902-year-old Chibi-Usa put Mamoru's picture in her locket when all her classmates are putting their crushes in their lockets forces me to relive all the weird grossness there.

Thank goodness she's about to get her own love interest . . . Circus is next!
