Friends who ditch her. A pod of killer whales. A limping cruise ship. All reasons Iris finds herself stranded on an deserted island with the handsome Navy SEAL...
Iris McLaughlin was having a great time on the cruise until the Navy SEAL grabbed her and towed her into a lifeboat. Okay, so maybe "a great time" is a bit of an overstatement. Iris hadn't enjoyed being late to orientation, being the last one on the boat, or sharing a wall with the obnoxious Navy SEAL who has a staring problem. But hey, at least that off-the-shoulder swimming suit her sister had said would work, actually worked.
When a pod of killer whales attacks the cruise ship, the captain calls for people to abandon ship. Justin Brunner, retired Navy SEAL, tows Iris over the side of the boat without a second thought. In the morning light, they discover they're the only ones in a lifeboat and the cruise ship is long gone. Oh, and so are the whales.
So maybe Justin had acted a little quickly. He'd been trained to do just that, so she can't really blame him. Can she?
They eventually make their way to a tiny speck of an island in the huge Pacific Ocean, relying solely on Iris's hip pack of emergency supplies and Justin's strength, intelligence, and calm demeanor in a crisis.
As they navigate the obstacles of food, shelter, and water on the island, a new player arrives: Their feelings for each other. Justin feels like he's playing catch-up because of his possibly premature actions, and Iris is sure a man like him won't be interested once they get back to civilization. Will she risk her heart for the tattooed SEAL? Or will Justin have to fight as hard for her as he did in the Navy?

So I didn't really enjoy this book. It was too short for me to feel any kind of passion between the MCs and this was not helped as they had zero chemistry. This was not an instalove read so their feelings towards one another after being on an island for only two or three days felt ridiculous. I did not enjoy how the heroine worked so hard to win over the hero in the end. He was rather disappointing as an ex Navy Seal as well. I thought he'd be more capable & if the heroine did not have a little pack of essentials I'm not sure they would have survived even that long. Super quick but just OK read.
So, the plot behind why Navy SEAL Justin and businesswoman Iris get stranded on a deserted island is ridiculous, even for the genre. He mishears an announcement after the ship is attacked by a pod of killer whales (which has never happened in Hawaii) and drags her with him as he abandons ship.
Thankfully, the characters are interesting, and despite his bonehead move leaving the cruise ship, Justin is actually a nice, smart guy. He and Iris have a lot of chemistry, and their relationship seems realistic otherwise. It's not a bad book, and I understand running out of ways to strand someone on a deserted island (since this is an eight-book series), but come on...

This is the second in this series I have read. They are stand alone clean sweet reads. It is fun with having a connection to characters in her other book. This time Iris, a twin, goes on a cruise. She has her own business and as an incentive to employees selects deserving employees a trip each year. The couple selected had chosen the cruise. Justin is a retired SEAL. He currently works for a web developer. He is on the cruise to develop an app for cruisers of the cruise company. As the only two single cruisers they get “buddied up. When a freak accident occurs on the ship Justin’s SEAL training goes into over drive and he takes Iris and gets her off the boat. He is able to get them to an island. Now they have to figure out how to survive. Thankfully Iris’s sister who works with a company and trains in survival had thought to give Iris a survival kit just in case of an emergency. With the kit Justin and Iris navigate survival and the growing emotions between themselves.
Iris is a true-blue workaholic and a cruise is outside any part of her normal routine. Justin is staring “life after the SEALs square in the face. This cruise to help design an app for the line is one step towards finding his footing again. This was a very sweet story. I loved seeing these two, almost complete opposites come together to save themselves in some pretty exceptional circumstances. I especially liked seeing this pair work through the differences between how they felt and behaved during the crisis and after the crisis was over. I can’t wait to read about the rest of Iris’s sisters. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Another great Stranded in Paradise story! When the alarms sound on the boat and the announcement is made to go to the lifeboats and evacuate Justin’s Navy SEAL training takes over. He knows the pretty blonde, Iris, is just across the hall from him and knocks on her door to make sure she is coming. Taking charge of the situation, he gets them to a lifeboat and away from the sinking boat. But where are the other survivors? And how did they end up on a remote island alone? Don’t miss this great short-read from Elana Johnson!
When a pod of killer whales attack the cruise ship, retired Seal, Justin reacts quickly getting himself and his beautiful neighbor, Iris off the ship. He gets them safely to a deserted island and after a few days realises he may have reacted too quickly.
Justin and Iris are getting along fabulously. After their rescue, he overhears Iris tell her family about the "meathead" that pulled her off the ship. Can it really be true that she feels nothing? Jump inside for this fun story~
Iris and Justin met at a meeting before boarding a cruise ship. They are partnered up as they are the only two singles out seems on the cruise. She is taking some employees on the cruise while he is there for work. The second day of the cruise finds the ship being pushed around by killer whales and the captain announcing to prepare to evacuate. Justin an ex Seal takes Iris and deploys a life raft and jumps overboard. They end up on a deserted island. Working together, they find shelter, water and food. But they Also find each other.
The things that you never expect to happen on a cruise ship sometimes do. It must have been a HUGE pod of whales to rock a small ship but still, it could happen, I guess. It seemed strange that the captian would give the command to evacuate when really not necessary. Awesome job of survival on the island and very nice to see them work together doing so. It's always a good idea to think about what we say since we NEVER know who's listening, even in real life. Excellent read.
When you think your cruise ship is going down, you are thankful your assigned safety buddy is a retired Navy SEAL. Justin and Iris are uniquely stranded and hoping for survival. They each bring talents, preparations and skills to work together as they wait for rescue. With few distractions, the two have the great opportunity to get to know each and see the sparks fly. Great characters and fun little twist too.
What a way to end a cruise, stranded with a handsome former navy seal, a tough way to go on a diet. Iris and Justin definitely struck sparks when they first met, but not necessarily good ones. Fun how those sparks can change after a few days on a deserted island. This book was fun, humorous and exciting.
An interesting read of Iris and Justin. They are on a cruise, both for work, and end up paired together. Justin is a take charge, former SEAL. Iris is a capable businesswoman. I love Eden gave her an emergency kit for the cruise. They have an emotionally intense week together and grow close. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Justin and Iris are on a cruise but neither one of them wants to be there. There is definitely chemistry and when they get stranded together alone on an island sparks keep flying. I loved how he was a tough guy - a Seal - but had such a tender heart and treated Iris with such care. What happens when they get back? You gotta read to find out. great ending!!
Iris is taking a cruise to relax for a fortnight, Justin is there to get ideas for an app. Disaster strikes when killer whales attack the boat. A funny, romantic read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I really loved reading this book! A cruise ship is about to sink and a navy seal grabs the girl next to him and jumps into a rowboat. They finally get to a deserted island and stay several days. I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance books!
Loved this story as two unlikely people are thrown together and stranded on an island. The dynamic of her twin sister on an dating app who has been previously trading messages with the Justin was an interesting dynamic. Love all of Elana's books.
Justin only took the cruise for work. Ivy with her co-workers. When her and Justin become partners she never thought they would be stranded on an island together. Falling for each other seemed easy until they are rescued. Great story. Loved the characters.
I don't know if it's just because I had such a connection to a previously read book, or if I just am not in the mood for a novel such as this one- but I did not feel the pull to this novel that I normally do when I am reading a new novel. I will definitely have to try again later.
This is a time where not reading the blurb really hits you. I definitely recommend this way of reading the book 😉 Fun and unique adventures and an interesting matchup. I really enjoyed it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I loved this story! Iris and Justin are great people. I have only read 2 books of the series but they both were great I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Ever think about being stranded on a deserted island? You get to enjoy doing so in this book without actually having to do so. This is a sweet clean romance.
This Stranded Series is fantastic! It is packed full of amazing characters and this book is no different, Iris is super organised when running her business, but always late to wherever she should be, she is feisty and defensive, snarky but funny and once you get through that prickly, outer shell she is loving and devoted but will Justin Manage to crack that shell and squeeze his way in? Justin is still struggling to come to terms with no longer being a SEAL, in his mind he should always be faster, better and push harder than anyone else. So when he realises he may have made a mistake that puts not only his but also Iris's life in danger he is disgusted with himself, can he forgive himself in time to save them both and sweep Iris off her feet or will his stubbornness kick in and cost them both? Another good book with a strong plot that includes danger, a yummy hero, a feisty heroine, funny quips, mother nature throwing curve balls and love once again tested because of human miscommunication, all this and available on Kindle Unlimited as I said fantastic!
Another great book in a great series by one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I look forward to more books in the series.
