"Right. No time to grieve, no time to train or learn anything, just go, go, go."

Welp. Thats it- thats the story- with a little bit of angsty romance thrown in for good measure.
I liked the premise of the book and the background we got on Lily, and the Fae world building---but a lot of plot points were just a tad confusing, or were dropped all together to drum up suspense.

Like her mom not telling her literally anything having to do with her job as a seeker and Lily just never asking why her mom came home bloody and hurt all the time. Or the pieces of history that were dolled out sparingly just to have the audience be surprised by something major being dropped throughout the book. Or just forgetting about them completely--like the mom's journal...

description

But what really confused me is the crystal storyline. So the moms had what- years to get these crystals but Lily needs to get them in days to weeks? But If they are so easy to find what took the mom decades to get a few?

Also can the fae stay on Earth or not? Lily can't stay on Earth or she'll weaken and die but what about the other Fae?

“When the Dark Times happened and the Fae fled to Earth with their halfling children, we sent out a small band of loyal Fae to live and earn money on the Earth world."

How? I don't understand...

.

The plot is interesting, but the characters seemed very immature throughout the whole book. I felt like this was hastily written due to the fact a lot of stuff was thrown into the book but was never properly explained to make the readers understand the ‘importance it had in the book.

The entire series was not as good as I had hoped.
The author repeated minor details multiple times when we already knew the information.
The relationship growth was confusing and the growth didn’t feel right.
The main characters did not have distinct personalities, the only ones who did was the side characters.

Not gonna do a whole review because I know a lot of you won’t want to read this. So yea it’s a gamble with Leia Stone and her books. I prefer Jaymin Eve. One of her series is my fav of all time.

So right from the start I knew there was a large chance I would quit this one.

I couldn't bring myself to like the main character (who is very immature in her thinking btw). The writing and first person narration did not flow well for me (Ex. NOOOOO My mom died!! But wait let me look at these people soul bonding. Oh shoot, I'm suppose to be sad NOOOO!) Something that irritated me from the beginning was the strong shared belief of the secondary characters that our heroine had to start her quest the morning after her mother died. But Why? With the way this girl is acting from her mother's death, what makes them think this girl can survive ANYTHING a day later?

This is the same story NA fantasy story you've read a hundred times before. Super special pretty girl meets super dangerous and dark asshole guy. Insta-love through soulmates. Every book I've read by Stone has been the exact same formula redone to death. Her characters are cardboard cutouts of the feisty special girl archetype and the bad boy hot guy archetype every. single. time.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE soulmate stories, which is what made me pick this up but the 'soulmate' situation in this story is pathetic. What does being soulmates entail exactly? Well some sparkly blue light pulses in front of the heroine and hero's chest in tune with their (combined?) heartbeat until they... have sex. After that the blue light disappears and the only thing that still defines them as 'soulmates' is that they're super attracted to one another. It's literally just a normal relationship. What exactly is so magical about this? Also, other people can see this blue light between them. So once it stops appearing.... everyone knows they've screwed. Not to mention they DO screw and it's before they have any meaningful interactions and have seen each other like twice.

All of this wouldn't be a super big deal if it was erotica but it's not. Quite frankly I'm sick of every author deciding to label their book NA just to throw in cussing and bland sex scenes and thinking that makes it some great story. This reads like some crappy blend of YA (immature characters and plot devices) mixed with erotica (random 'soulmate' sexual desire and multiple sex scenes).

And for a 'fantasy' book, this is so stupid. Why is our MC saying things akin to 'I'm Lily, daughter of seeker Rose, defender of Faerie!' and the next minute saying stupid shit like, 'Fuck it, I'm going full anarchy'. Again it just seems super juvenile and out of place in a 'fantasy' world/book.

The moment they mention the sleeping Spring faerie queen, you KNOW what's gonna happen... Cause THAT hasn't been done to literal death 100+ times before.

If you're a sucker for the overdone feisty heroine is actually super special and falls in love with a super bad (but good at heart) hot guy where the plot line is nonexistent, then give this a try. Other than that, it's really not worth anyone's time.

G'day readers, hope you're all doing swell and keeping out of mischief, if that is at all possible 😉

Anywho, I have just finished reading a book that I felt, I had been waiting for a really long time. The moment Leia told her group about the upcoming release of this book, I just knew it was going to be everything I needed (and oh how right I was!)... And because of this, I found that I had an absolute need to get on the ARC team for this series...and the incredible Leia let me in...wahoo!

So here I am bringing you my honest ARC review for this AWESOME book! If I have any words for you, it would be to make sure you preorder this book, so you can read it right away! It was so incredible that one of the first things I said to Leia was "sooo we get the next book tomorrow right?" This book releases on the 29th April so it's not too much longer to wait...so please, please go and read it...

The "thing" is the book derh 😛

Okay, let's get into it. I loved, loved so much about this book...it doesn't hold back, and I loved how quickly it gets right into things. No dilly-dallying. Time is of the essence. And oh boy how true that is. The fate of the Fae world depends on it...well what's left of it.

But lucky for us, we have one very strong-willed chica on our side (Lily) and along with her very good friend (Elle) and others, they are determined to turn it all around. You see though, Lily is a Fae but she's a very special one, the last of her kind now. After the tragic death of her mum, which btws broke my heart!! 😢 Made her crucial to the survival of Faerie. She's a Seeker. Which means she has a very special ability of tracking down basically anything...but most importantly these special crystals - or seeds from the Tree of Life - The very thing that practically gives life to their land. But you see these crystals were stolen...which leaves Faerie in a very dire situation. And so she must move fast and track them down as fast as possible, before Faerie crumbles.

But that isn't the only problem...you see many years ago there was what they called the Dark War...and many fled Faerie because of it. Taking these life-giving crystals, so they could survive on earth...for without them they would die. But this only left a small portion of Faerie stable. Anywho, The Elders told Lily about this lost history, that was never shared with their people (Hiding things from people is never a good sign right? Never trust a person who keeps things like this from you!) ...and they told her that from this Dark War came these beings called The Sons of Darkness. Or Dark Fae. And she was told they were abominations. You in yet? Coz if that was me...then this would be me 👇🏻

But when Lily goes on her first seeking mission something very baffling occurs. She's in place, has found the crystal and these beings, but one is not like the others. It is one who the Elders said was the most dangerous, the ones with black wings. But the most baffling of all things happen...she bonds with him, like soulmate bonds!...and there's a light show and everything! The guy (Dark Fae) is totally oblivious to what is happening, but he can def feel the effects, as he is clearly intrigued by her...and he does not try to kill her. Win? right? Yep totally. And then when someone barges in what does he do? Let me give a little sneaksie peak for you guys.

"He’d shoved me in a closet when he could have killed me that was sort of not evil? It wasn’t exactly soulmate love, like in Faerie, but he hadn’t killed me so I’d have to take it."

This gave me quite the chuckle as I was reading. I totally adored Lily and loved how it was narrated. Even though Lily was struggling deeply, her compassion and fighting spirit weren't willing to just rollover. And after she found her new soulmate, things start changing fast. I don't want to give too much away, but they eventually team up to get the crystals and try and find a solution to all the problems...but there is a bigger threat yet, that is going on...and hopefully, together they can work it out.

You remember how I said I adored Lily and the narration...this is the perfect example of this...so there's this one scene Lily has to be a distraction while Liam goes to do something, and it legit had me laughing so hard because at first, she didn't know how to even distract the people lol...I think she ends up throwing a healing ball over the wall, but when that doesn't work, she flies over wall and throws a stone or something haha...they see her and then... and this 👇🏻cracked me up 😂You guys are going love Lily! I have no doubt!

They’re shooting at me? Well, I guess that was a good distraction. I pulled out my obsidian dagger. I’d literally brought a knife to a gunfight. Great.

But I need to get this out, I fell in love with her soulmate from page one! He intrigued me beyond anything I can explain. I wanted to know his story (and btws totally nailed it on the info about him...just sayin' hehe)...but I want to know more about him. But so far I love him and the development of the relationship between him and Lily. Although felt very quick, totally understood why it needed to be that way. Love them already.

Gah I don't know if I should say this bit or not...

Maybe possibly spoilerish below. So I'll let you decide if you want to read or not.

But now this 🏻 is literally me, to make myself stop talking. Some secrets are good to find out on your own.

That both feels good to have off my chest and also makes me this.

So yeah things are kinda cray-cray. There's a lot that happens and unfolds in this book and I really loved the journey it took me on. Loved all the characters and learning more about this world. It was incredible.

The friendships are amazing and they are so loyal to each other... I also really like the new friendships that bloom as well between a very powerful Fae that is locked away in like this in-between world, Mara, she is like the keeper of this special door. You want to know more about that don't you? Guess you're gonna have to read it *teasing voice*

This book has everything, I kid you not. She even meets a flippin' Mermaid! Which opens an even bigger door to this story. I don't know what more I can say, if you aren't convinced yet...But hopefully, I have because this book is worth reading!

Thank you to the absolutely amazing Leia Stone for letting me on the team for this series! ❤️It's been awesome to be apart of another of your ARC teams release...Hopefully my crazy doesn't scare you away. lol.

I absolutely cannot wait until I can read more in this world. Thank goodness it's only like one month until the next book, although that still feels like

But for now, that's all I have. Enjoy reading...coz there's plenty of time for that now!

Meh, but like not in a bad way, you know? I love Leia Stone’s books for her quick reads but the way that she writes usually still has me enjoying and feeling invested in the characters. So far, this all felt too “instant everything to me, insta-love, friendship, abilities, etc. I would’ve liked a little bit more development.

Absolutely loved this series so much that I've only just came out of binge from reading the entire 3 books! I would definitely recommend this series to anyone. I mean, I'm a sucker for fairy's and bad boys, so this was just a perfect book already in a nut shell.

I also loved all of the main characters, they were all so unique and were such great supporting roles. I honestly felt at the end of this series as if I knew them all personally.

And Lily, for everything that was thrown at her, she was definitely bad ass.

Certainly adding this to my favourites shelf !!

Leia NEVER disappoints!

This was such a good take on fae! I sat down and read it in one sitting! Lily and Liam have some major things to work through and Lily has a ton to learn. I love Lilly's supportive girl squad. I also enjoyed the pace, not too fast but nothing was skipped over. I also love a good mystery! Ready for book 2!

Since quarantine began, I've had a hard time getting into books. Partly because my time is swamped now, but also because I can't seem to get into anything too deep or intense.

I've been craving a quick, fun read, and Seeking the Fae delivered!

Lily was spunky (if a little naive) and it was easy to root for her. Liam was a bit cookie cutter, but did I care as I kept turning the pages? No, no I did not.

I loved the light hate-to-love soulmate angle, and the twists were sprinkled in just enough to keep me on my toes.

Looking forward to the second book!

✨Seeking the Fae

3/5⭐️
I wanted so desperately to love this book but mostly I found it confusing.
I struggled getting through the first 30% but it definitely picked up around the 50% mark and I enjoyed the rest of the book.

This story follows Lily, a 20 year old Fae “seeker (a Fae who can find any object as long as she has seen it) who with the untimely death of her mother, and her vague and confusing last words, Lily is thrown headfirst into a world she is unprepared for. Being the last of her Seeking kind, the responsibility falls on Lily to find the magic crystals and save her world. To do so, she must go up against the dastardly Sons of Darkness. And when she finds her soulmate things get even more complicated. Battling threats both known and unknown Lily’s journey is a big one

Review-
Like I said, I really wanted to love this book the idea had a lot of promise however it has really jumbled my head. Plot points are dropped/ignored then randomly brought up later on. Lily’s mother gives her information on her deathbed, and now don’t get me wrong that’s traumatic, however she instantly forgets and then when she finally remembers, she procrastinates and pushes it all aside for later. It’s frustrating. Not to mention the Elders and their feigned compassion. They don’t let the girl grieve or prepare or train just drop 500 bombs and expect her to run along and do the job like she has years of experience.
Lily and Liam, now I understand they’re enemies to lovers, but their “romance and I use the term loosely, is lacking. Sappy insta-love on her part. Confusion and sexual frustration on his part. Ansty, insta love, I found it frustrating and lacking.
What I loved was Lily and Elle’s friendship. A mutual love and understanding of each other and willing to defend each other no matter what.
I enjoyed the last half of the book significantly more when things started to make more sense. I feel that for me, there were too many plot-points to be able to effectively explore and progress the story in a way that makes sense and is impactful. There is a lot of potential here and by the end the developments were easier to follow and more enjoyable and I sincerely hope it fulfils it in the next two books

How does this have so many good reviews? False advertising at its finest!
I downloaded Seeking the Fae via Kindle Unlimited, lucky me. If I had paid for it, I would have been upset. ŷ is usually a trustworthy site, but I guess even authors stoop so low as to buy positive reviews.

So, here's the tea.

A book claiming to be a about fairies that offers surprisingly little content about fairies when its title and blurb promise fairy adventures, has lost the mark. Our main character tells us how she eats pancakes and wears t-shirts, before she takes a shower. Just to clarify, Ms Stone, does she shower under a leaf or is it a fully electric shower?

There was a total lack of background information and world building. Scenes stated the obvious and left little room for imagination. Imagine something along the lines of: "We broke into a chase, he threw ice, I dodged it. Fuck!" Yes, fuck. The author interpreted the interior monologue too loosely and threw in one too many fucks that even I as a comic reader had enough.

What about the so praised story? I'm having troubles understanding all the praise for the uniqueness of the book. The main character's mum dies and grieving is off the table because the fairy world needs to be saved within days. Reason? Some non-existent plot element. Oooooh, a random scene spawns and we are told that soulmates exist. Could it be that our heroine also meets her soulmate on the journey?! Could she fall in love with the sexualised antagonist?!!!!!

Jokes aside, the writing and blurb do suggest this book is intended for young readers. But beware. Once you have read about his erect wings and her hardened nipples, you will not recommend this book to your young niece.

This could have been a good book if an editor had taken out a red marker and started handing out feedback. But the publishing industry is hard and young authors rarely make it, unless they have significant writing/editing experience. I wish authors like Ms Stone took the time and read reviews, instead of buying positive reviews because that renders the learning process useless. Stone CAN write, she just lacks the skills to forge a great book. One can hope.

Freaking fantastic!
Fated mates!! 😁 with the enemy 😁😁
Mr Sexy, Dark and Broody 🤤 I was hooked right from the beginning. It's a super fun story. There's some action, mystery, twists, creepy monsters. All the good things.

There is a spicy scene but not super explicit.
💕 Romantic Content Rating System: 5 (see highlight)

If you enjoy Fae, great world building, unique magic system, enemies who are sometimes lovers..LOL or are afan of Heather Renee you'll love this series!

Narrated by the fabulous Vanessa Moyen. Always a pleasure to listen to her. 🥰🎧

im going to have to write that bash was my favourite character , purely for his fluffiness , i loved how this book kept me guessing, little bits kept unraveling in each chapter, i was hooked. i didn't really connect with the main character, i felt bad for her but couldn't really relate to her thoughts, it seemed a little rushed in her overcoming hardship. although i would definitely reccomend elise kova fans read this book! :)

It was okay.

The romance is entirely insta-love they have a glowing light that signals they met their soul mate and while there is a bit of oh you’re the bad guy it’s pretty instant.

The plot and world building are both a flimsy, but it does flow and it is quick easy read.

I’m curious about the next one but I don’t have to go out and read it.

Leia Stone is generally an automatic buy for me and this was alright. On several occasions I felt that the heroine was too gullible to live, and a little bit silly. Still, she was likable enough and so was our cute, tortured hero (antihero?). I do love the soul mates trope in here, though. I'm a sap like that.

I picked up this book from a facebook add and all the comments were really positive so I gave it a chance.
It was just sort of fine.
The characters were all very immature, particularly our two leads, the plot was interesting but wasn't fully explored and a lot of elements were just never fully explained to us or they would be but not fully explained to the characters but somehow later they know anyway?
It was hard to get fully invested into a story that seemed like it should have major stakes and consequences but ultimately didn't and wasn't written like it did. I never feared for any of the characters, their homes or their relationships. Actually, they were all so immature in their behaviors I never much cared either way.
It was a bit of a let down. I think it really does have good ideas behind it but it just needs a more mature writer or a serious editing team to bring it around to its potential.

Now that her mother is dead, Lilly is the last of her kind.

A Seeker.

Tasked with seeking the lost crystals of Faerie, she must restore her broken and barren world to its former glory.

But the crystals that keep Faerie alive have been stolen by the Sons of Darkness and are hidden on Earth. It's up her to get them back by any means necessary.

She has everything under control and plans to bring the first crystal back, when she meets him Liam a Son of Darkness.

He's the most dangerous kind, with black wings that smoke and eyes that have seen death. She must kill him, kill him and take the crystal, but she can't.

He's her soulmate.

I love books about fae/ fairies. I have read a few books based on that theme in the past. I liked SEEKING THE FAE but not as much as I thought I would. It was not a bad book; I did enjoy it and liked the story behind it. However, there were parts that I did not enjoy as much. For instance, Lily. I was not sure how to feel about the character because there were moments that I liked her, and there were moments that I did not. I felt for her considering that her mother was killed, and a lot was put on her in such a short period. I do feel that she accomplished so much, considering that she was not aware of it until her mother’s death. Yet, I felt as if she complained too much and got upset when she did not get her way, not acting her age but like a spoiled child instead. That was one of the things that annoyed me about her. It was a reason that I had mixed feelings about the character as I read the book. The way that she tried to save Faerie, I thought that was brave of her, and it was clear how important it was to her. I was rooting for Lily.

I loved the idea of soulmates in this book. I had always enjoyed reading about forbidden love. At first, it seemed as if Liam was going to try pushing her away and tried to avoid the feeling that he had for her. I understand that Lily and Liam were soulmates, but I felt that she was pushing him towards it a bit too much, not even letting the relationship develop a bit. I could not help but wonder if Liam will finally give in since it was clear how much he cared about Lily. I liked their relationship, but I did feel that it should develop more before they jumped into everything. I am curious to see what develops between Lily and Liam next if the two of them will stay together. It feels like half of the time, the two of them driving each other crazy. However, it was clear that at the same time they were happy, there was an attraction between the two of them when they were with each other.

Some parts were a bit slow for me, but it picked up fast. I loved the descriptions in this book, which made me feel as I was there along with them. It did make me eager to find out what happens in the next book. SEEKING THE FAE was the first book that I have read by LEIA STONE and I am eager to discover what other adventures she has written. SEEKING THE FAE is worth picking up and checking out and will have you wondering what to come next.

It took me awhile to finish this book after I started it when I literally put it off. One because it's an eBook and my eyes are hurting just from reading it on my phone. Two...it was an adventure story with a hint of romance but I guess it was okay.
So, if you like...
⚜️Urban Fantasy
⚜️Ѳ
⚜️Paranormal creature especially Faeries
⚜️Slow burn romance
⚜️Enemies to lovers trope
Then you pick the right book to start a new series!

It is about a fae named Lily who has to continue her mother's work to restore crystals to the Faerie land to ensure their survival. However, while she was trying to retrieve one of the crystals, she met her soulmate, the sworn enemy of her kind. Then you know what happened😏

My thoughts on this book:
📌Okay, it was enemies to lovers trope as well as the Chosen One trope. So Lily is our MC that was tasked to collect the crystals to save Faerie world and while she was doing that, she met her soulmate, Liam, who was a Dark Fae that was being sworn enemy of her kind. I think it is a common thing for faerie to be sworn enemy with dark faerie. Just regular stuff. The adventure and the story line was okay. I enjoyed it even when the first few chapters made me want to put this book off. And I did. So that spoke the volume of the slow storyline of this book.
📌The character development is okay as far for the MC and her love interest. The author touched some of the issues like daddy issue, abusive childhood trauma and grievance of losing a loved one. It is a huge topic to be include in the book but I think the author made it easy for me to weave through those topics.
📌The morally grey character of the love interest was...complex, to say the least. The romance between them was also a turn on and off kind of relationship even when they don't have an official one and the MC was the one that always fell in love with her man first. It broke my heart that I know he will have some time to accept the feeling that was being portrayed by the MC but it will progress from there. Also, their banters...are super CUTE!
📌The book is promoted as New Adult so the spiciness is only 🌶🌶.5/5 which is mild and there's just one steamy scene but a lot of kisses and caresses between them😏
📌My rating would be ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 for I think the character arc was interesting yet it did not hook me up to finish it in one sitting. Perhaps it was because of the lack of romance between the MCs and how I would love to see more banter between them. Whilst there is no dagger to throat scene in this book, perhaps we can see some progress on their relationship in the next book from this trilogy.

So, enemies to lovers, Chosen One trope, working together in close proximity, I hate you but I love you kind of thing with a morally grey love interest with daddy issues? Who doesn't want to read about it and perhaps my opinion will be different from others hut for now, I will put off the second and third book before continuing it.

Leia pulls us all in again to her magical worlds. This new series takes us to Faerie and the world of the Fae. Lily is the last seeker left. She’s a tough yet tender-hearted Fae. She’s just lost her mother, her only family, and is now expected to step into her mom’s shoes and take over the mission she was on. What she doesn’t realize is exactly who her mom was and what her job entailed. The world of Faerie is dying, their light crystals were stolen by the Sons of Darkness and must be returned to their tree of life for their existence to continue on. Determined for her daughter to have a normal life and upbringing, her mom shielded her from the horrors that their people had been through and the frightening job that she did. Six crystals remain on Earth and in the hands of their enemies and only seekers can find them. Thrust into her first mission and briefed on the evil she has to fight, Lily runs smack into evils arms her first go at retrieving a lost crystal and taking up her mom’s plight. The arms that surround her belong to Liam, a Son of darkness....who is also Fae. The attraction is immediate and it takes seconds longer for the blue lights that recognize soul mates to bounce back and forth from their chests. Soul mates. To her enemy. Ones she has been taught to kill but now can’t because he is everything to her.
Leia never fails with the creativity that surrounds her stories. We have a place of beauty and magic, a world of darkness and evil, a forbidden pairing, and pain and devastation on both sides. The characters she has created, Liam and Lily, have phenomenal chemistry and the sweetness and sharp bite of a love-hate relationship. She guides us through the trials and danger and entrails is with the heat and sensuality. This book gives us a glimpse into a world of magic and the possibility of living out a fantasy life. This is sure to be another fabulous series and I can’t hardly wait for the next story!!
