The only person Clara thought she could trust is taken, and time is counting down to the coronation when he will be lost to her forever. But the life threatening trek to the witch is only the beginning. Of course nothing is free, and the witch’s price for her help might be more than Clara can pay.
Born and raised in the PNW, Ali Winters is a USA Today bestselling and the award-winning author of The Vampire Debt series and The Hunted series.
She’s been mesmerized by the extraordinary worlds within books for as long as she can remember. One evening an idea for a book formed and refused to leave until she wrote it. She jumped headfirst into the career that has called to her since she opened her first book. And there hasn’t been a single moment without a story begging to be told since.

I didn’t want this book to end. I started it and couldn’t put it down. Winters did it again with another exciting and chilling edition to this series. Excellent!!!
I did not put this DOWN! I think this might be my fave in the series. I loved the training scenes with Cassius and the journey to the witch and getting the 4 items. my one issue was WHY WAS IT SO SHORT 🤧🤧
I loved that Clara got to go to new places and meet new people in this book. She got to have an adventure, and her night with Alaric (**swoon**) and she realized she had more friends than she thought. All before Ali left me screaming at my kindle, filled with hatred towards Elizabeth and Varin. I can't wait for book 5 now!!

Hello readers, I'm using this spot to give a small update. There was a glitch with the file and for some reason was showing chapter 24 twice. A corrected file has been uploaded among all retailers and should be live shortly. Once it is, you will be able to update your copy. Most of the time these issues can be avoided, but every once in a while, they manage to slip by. I hope you can forgive this error and update without too many problems. I will try my best to offer any assistance I can to help if needed.
The story line the books have taken is great! At first I thought I could tell what would happen but SURPRISE has got me at every turn.
The relationship between Cassius & Clara has gotten Alittle spicy so I am hoping that we can see some redemption for our poor fellow Cas!
The trip was a little confusing for me. Especially since 3 vampires just willingly tagged along to help Clara. Just too much to wrap your brain around.
It was good but I felt like it was lacking something. The bits with the demonic flying creatures after the Oracle visit was also confusing and I felt thrown into the story.
The ending with Varin seemed rushed so I am hoping that is explained with great detail in book five. As book five is the last book I am praying we get all the answers and a great ending we deserve!
I did not hate it. Which I know does not sound like a glowing review but I am conflicted.
Am I meant to like Cassius as much as I do? I mean Twilight had the #teamedward and #teamjacob thing but we all knew that she would end up the Edward, many #teamjacob did not want him for Bella but just wanted better for him.
I feel like the leading man is becoming Cassius. He is so much more of a well written and whole character than Alaric.
Some of the parts of this book seemed rushed, and maybe a little pointless, unless those bird demons return at some point I can't see how they added to the story.
I have questions that I hope the last book answers. I have enjoyed this world though.
This is an amazing read that from the moment that I started reading it I was hooked. Could not put it down. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for this story. The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with them. This is a book that needs to be read, there is no doubt about it. You will not be sorry that you did.
omg!!!! This journey Clara and Alaric is getting more and more complicated and dangerous. Who can Clara trust? She is desperate for a solution and it is not easy dealing with Alaric's companions. On to book five. The suspense is killing me.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read Haunting Page-turner Scary Tragic Twisted Unpredictable Wonderful characters
4🌟!! New fav of the series!! I loved the side plot of the main character and the others going on a little quest…it added a lot of development to our main lady Clara and to the others as well. The last 50 or so pages of this book had me HOOKED and left me with so many emotions😫 COME ON *ALARA* WE NEED THEM TOGETHER FOR GOOD
4.5 stars. Winters really stepped up her game with book 4. I feel like her writing took on a whole new level that allowed her to explore more characters than just Clara and Alaric. The story really picked up here and created a whirlwind of emotions. This was a single day read for me because I was so captivated by the development. I can't wait to see where the final book takes us!
“Most people will never get the chance to see if their love is real enough that they would risk everything for it.
This is for me the most exciting one out of the four that I read so far. She is brave and willing to sacrifice everything to save Alaric. Very strong female character and I love it!
I wish this book had more details to it. In a sense it felt a bit rushed and a lot happened in it. I did enjoy it though, and love the story line still. Just felt like there was things missing.
What the heck just happened? Although I am enjoying this series I have so many questions. So much is rushed and many are either left hurt or I fear will be hurt. This story is tragic and unfair, so gothic, I get it. But...dang...
