The empire is full of unrest.

Talise is ready to accept her new leadership roles but isn’t sure how. It doesn’t help that the emperor wants to take out enemy bases, yet he remains oblivious to the other conflicts around them.

Problems multiply when the enemy obtains knowledge about a mysterious amulet that has the power to destroy armies. With her heart still in pieces, Talise struggles to meet the obstacles ahead. But the truth soon becomes clear.

Yet another book that I never gave an official review for because it shook me.

All I can remember is that plot twist left me quaking and reevaluating every thought I had about this series.

The next four books in The Elements of Kamdaria are nestled behind this beautiful cover. Starting off where book 4 left off, Talise has to learn what it means to lead and fight for what is right.

I like the message that these books hold for readers. Talise is the type of character that comes flawed with trust issues. Making decisions that benefit the people in her kingdom but also having to remember that she needs to look out for herself as well. You can't have a thriving kingdom if you neglect the ruler and vice versa.

There is a lot more action in these 4 parts and I enjoyed watching Talise mature from the first compilation. She has a stronger vibe and more confidence than when I first met her and Moody did a great job in that area. Some of the scenes and inner monologue go longer than I like as a reader but that is personal preference for me. I do think the writing style is more fitted to the younger side of young adult but that isn't a bad thing. If I had kids this would be an excellent crossover from middle grade to young adult for readers.

I like the world building, the class system and the character comradery the most in these books. When I finished this one I felt more of a bond with Talise's clan. It really felt like everyone had grown since I first encountered this series. Visiting the different areas was also exciting as the world around the characters grew. Unexpected twists I didn't see coming was just icing on the cake.

Thank you to Moody for the gifted advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

The extra chapter with Claye really clarify where his family stands and his feelings for Talise.
But unfortunately his plan doesn't work out as planned 💔

I absolutely love this series. It’s very captivating and I didn’t lose interest even once. I will say, I was super surprised about one of the twists at the end in one aspect, but the other I suspected for awhile. It was very well written and I’m excited to see where the next one goes!

I don't know how many hours I spent escaping reality by reading this book, but it was amazing! Once again, I thought I knew where things were going and then there was a plot twist that flipped it completely upside down! Another incredibly written, hard to put down, book!

Kay Moody has done it again. I fell in love with the series as soon as I started the first book. I love it even more now. It kept me captivated from the first page through the last. I have to keep going to see what will happen next.

I adore the characters. They have grown and changed so much. We find out in book 1 that Telise is actually the princess. However, as the Emperor pointed out she had no leadership skills. While those skills improved by the end of the first book, it's nothing compared to what she learns in book 2.

The characters will face action, adventure, hardships, losses, betrayal, trust and hope. There are so many twists and turns in the story it will keep you on the edge of your seat and you may be stunned by certain events.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy.

The Ember Gate brings Talise to realize that friends can be foes and foes can be friends. The twists and turns in the story are at times predictable, but usually unexpected and new characters are introduced.

Talise grows in her role as defender of Kamdaria, but at times her actions show that she is only 18. Especially when it comes to love, or what she believes might be love. Not everything in this world of shaping elements follows logic, and sometimes the story feels rushed, but it’s a fantastic world with a strange feel to it that reminds me of eastern cultures.

I am looking forward to reading the last book in the series. My hope is that Talise can unite Kamdaria and finds love with Aaden.

I am giving this review freely after receiving an ARC of the Elements of the Gates. Thank you, Kay, for a world full of magic that lets me escape from mine for a while.

Long and complex. Antidote to the sugar stories that leave you wanting. Sometimes the stories seemed too long for me, and I had to put the book down at times and take a break from the stress. But it is good stress, the kind that makes you keep coming back.

The society mirrors ours in a way. It is ruled by an old guy set in his ways because his comforts are met. Anyone else, younger people, are desperately trying not to fall let alone climb the ladder. No wonder thousands are joining the Kessoku rebellion.

Even the princess has had to suffer. Talise may only be 17 but she had to grow up fast.
Her mom sacrificed her own life to give Talise the energy to produce magic and escape the dregs.

I am so amazed at how well spoken she is. With long lines of citizens barging in after the first attack., the emperor ignores them but Talise takes the initiative to help them. Ohhhhh awesome.

When Talise tries to campaign for a village that is overwhelmed with water due to a dam barracading them from the Storm, her father the Emperor reprimand s her on her lack of understanding. The economy depends upon low wage workers. It depends on slavery and poverty. This is reinforced when she visits a friend.

Luckily she, her incredibly smart friends and loyal soldiers decide to change society anyways.

I just wish she would recognize the love Claye obviously has for her.

Book 6: Wow. Given a choice, would you sacrifice yourself to protect an item that could destroy the world if in the wrong hands? I didn't see it coming. Talise meets a Guardian of the Amulet, who tells her that it arises in times of great need. He hopes to test her compassion. In the process, the Kessoku rebels attack and gain control over it. I kept wondering why she didn't bury it when the first arrow struck....

But the answer is not what you would expect.

Books 7 and 8:

The rescue of a world-crunching device, the Amulet. She meets Claye's family. Rio is next? Lol. The plans are beyond clever even if they go wrong. Claye shows his coolness. Sigh. My heart pitter-patters over him, yet he is that boy next door rather than the mysterious, dark, and handsome kind. I don’t usually like this type.

And then the Plot Twist occurs. I don’t want to give anything away, but I just wanted to cry. For the first time in ages, I was surprised. And it was as heart-rendering for me as it was for Talise. I am afraid she will turn as cold as her first boyfriend with all that is thrown at her. There is still hope. I could see it with the gift given to her just before they are attacked and the big betrayal.

I love a story with a strong romantic element that determines the plot direction or climax. This is the middle of a coming-of-age story, and sometimes I remember that my own story had tragedies that honed me into a stronger, better person. This book is not aimed for teenagers, even though it features them.

I am so amazed at how clever it is. This story is every bit as complex, gritty, and full of characterization as a Brandon Sanderson novel. The country is experiencing a rebellion, yet few die. Since this fight for control over a country is not finished, there will be another grouping. Another test of trust.

I received this book as an advanced review copy. This does not impact my review as far as I can tell.

This book, which is a compilation of four novellas, is the second (or fifth-eighth) book in the Elements of Kamdaria series. If you haven't read the first book, do that first.

There are some things about this book that are great, and others that could use some work.

What Worked

Talise's character has a nice arc. We get to see her grow and change throughout the story, from deciding to come forward as the princess to fighting for the amulet. She really puts the people first and I feel like her interest in helping and making positive changes is genuine.

The story itself progresses at a nice pace. Some sections were a bit long, but overall things moved nicely from the first page to the last.

Plenty of obstacles to go around that give Talise and her friends lots to have to navigate to reach their goals.

I liked the twist about the Guardian of the amulet appearing to Talise.

It was also a nice surprise to see all sides of the argument (about what's best for Kamdaria) be acknowledged. Talise can see how her actions will both positively and negatively impact everyone involved, so it's enjoyable to watch her weigh the consequences of doing or not doing something.

What Didn't Work

Aside from Talise, all the other characters feel very two-dimensional. They're the same at the beginning of the book as they are at the end. I like that they're distinctive from each other, but they don't have any real growth.

The out-of-nowhere romance with Claye felt forced to me. There's not hint in the first book that he has any feelings for Talise, then, once Aaden's out of the picture, he's all "I can't believe you didn't notice my feelings before now."

Some of the action scenes dragged on a bit too long. They're well written and it's easy to follow what happens, but I found myself skimming some of them because they went on for pages.

**Spoilers below**

Many of the actions in this book felt repetitive. She has a romance (kind of) with Aaden in the first book that ends in betrayal, then she has a romance with Claye in this book that also ends in betrayal. There's multiple breaking in to Kessoku bases, whether to rescue someone or to steal something. Many action scenes where Talise/her friends/her soldiers are fighting off Kessoku. Even some of Talise's thoughts feel very repetitive.

I was also super-excited when the amulet's Guardian, Eben, gets introduced. There were some really cool scenes with him and I feel like there was a lot of potential with him until he dies. I would've liked to see him live (even if he was unconscious or something for a while to delay his teaching of Talise) and get a chance to teach Talise about how to use the amulet. Scenes like that would be such a nice change from everything else that happens in this book. Also, it'd be nice to see Talise struggle, for once, with shaping.

**End spoilers**

There were also a fair number of typos or spelling errors in this book, including some with the characters' names.

Overall, this was a fun book to read with lots of things happening to keep you reading. If you enjoyed the first book or enjoy fantasy/adventure novels, you'll probably enjoy this series.

I received an ARC of THE ELEMENTS OF THE GATE thanks to the publisher, Marten Press.

Released: July 14, 2020 (sorry the review is a bit late 😖 not my proudest reviewer moment)

Part 9 releasing on August 31, 2020.

This is the sequel to THE ELEMENTS OF THE CROWN and the second book in the ELEMENTS OF KAMDARIA series. These two books encompass the 8 released novellas that are really just great ways to release parts of an amazing book series faster because there is honestly no story/character/tone difference between the parts. Consider each book on “act or “mini-arc.

Summary thanks to Amazon: (potential book 1 spoilers!!!!)

“The empire is full of unrest.

Talise is ready to accept her new leadership roles but isn’t sure how. It doesn’t help that the emperor wants to take out enemy bases, yet he remains oblivious to the other conflicts around them.

The aristocratic citizens of the Crown are angry at the emperor for lying about their enemy. The middle-class citizens of the Gate are angry at the state of their once great empire. And the poor, desperate citizens of the Storm are beginning to awake after years of oppression.

Problems multiply when the enemy obtains knowledge about a mysterious amulet that has the power to destroy armies. With her heart still in pieces, Talise struggles to meet the obstacles ahead. But the truth soon becomes clear.

If she can’t gain back loyalty from the citizens and find the ancient amulet, the empire will be lost forever.

Review:

This is one of those book series you can get lost in. While each of these books so far in the series is a bundle of 4 novellas, it is impossible to tell while reading. Each aspect of the book builds upon the last to create a really interesting world with such amazingly real characters.

My only complaint so far in the whole series (which is impressive in 1000 or so pages) is the person-centered focus shift about halfway through this one. While it has obvious implications later on, in the moment it felt too soon (even though time was passing in the book faster than it felt). This opinion is possibly only because I read this in last than 36 hours and so everything just felt fast-paced regardless of time spent in each location. Weeks felt like days, which given the whole war-like situation, makes so much sense. It just bothered me for that one relationship part.

I am highly looking forward to the next parts, novella 9 (the first part of book 3) comes out in 2 DAYS!!!! and I cannot be more excited to see what the rings have in store for Talise!

This is the second compilation of the Elements of Kamadaria series. Now that Talisle is a Master Shaper and her secret identity as princess is exposed, she sets out to find more about the people and the conditions in the gate. After all, she knows what life is like in the center and also in the Storm where she hid most of her childhood. She manages to endear herself to the people who have been rather disenchanted with the king and his policies and it will be great to see how this tension will be resolved in the coming volumes - and of course what happens with the rebellion that is brewing.

I felt that there was more to be told on certain scenes AND NOW SPOILER ALERT

- I was looking forward to the showdown between Taslise and her father, the king. Her identity had been kept a secret for over a decade (!) even during her training as Master Shaper. I would have expected the scene in which she forces her father the emperor to abandon his subterfuge and announce that the daughter who the public thought dead was instead hiding in the Storm and has now returned to be EPIC. Not only the personal showdown between them - why did he let her go, why did he treat her so badly when she returned. I have a million questions and I am not even Talise - but then the public announcement.. and nothing. I mean literally nothing. At the end of chapter five Taslise turns around to her friends and says she will force his hands and I turn the page . A few days have passed and they are sitting in the carriage with the fight over and the announcement made as she is now traveling as princess.

- Clayle turning a traitor at the end of book 8. I felt a bit like in a bad detective story where the murder is revealed by the clever detective using clues that the reader was not privy to. The added bonus scene at the end is good, but really, did it not belong in the main story and some hints throughout would have been great.

So who might like this story? It fits well for readers who like the story lines in 'Colloquium' stories that are part of Mercedes Lackey's 'Valdemar' series; maybe Tamora Pierce and the 'Song of Lioness' books; Karpov Kinrades's 'Court of Nightfall'; or Ashleigh Bello's 'The Belvador Saga'; maybe even a dash of Sarah Maas' 'Throne of Glass' .

Book 2 in The Elements of Kamdaria is as intriguing as book 1, many a times heart stopping as it is full of betrayals and so many twists and turns in Talise's travels in the gate that I felt the author really played havoc with our emotions not knowing who to trust in the end. Talise decides she needs to make up for her father's ruthless and tyrannical rule which was alienating the people and turning them towards the Kessoku, the rebel forces who were causing so much havoc in Kamdaria. She went in search of Kamdar's amulet knowing that if this fell into Kessoku's hands their magical abilities of shaping would become all that much stronger. She travelled through the different gates starting from the river gate, to the smoke gate, then the vine and ember gates and in each one she tried to show people she cared for their well being, she wanted to gain their loyalty and turn them from favouring Kessoku. She started gathering her own loyal army and did all this without the consent of her father, the emperor, but she knew this needed to be done. She met the guardian of the amulet, Eben and he gave it to her when he tested her and found her heart was pure but the Kessoku stole this from her and then it became one big race to try to get this back. She still pined for Aaden and was so hurt by his betrayal and desertion of her, and she turned to Claye, her old time friend. Attempting to free the prisoners from kessoku's headquarters was a crazy plan but Talise knew she just had to save Wendy's brother if she managed to do nothing else, before he was killed. So many had lost their lives to defend and support her she could not let any others do so on her account. She knew she had to follow her destiny as protector of Kamdaria but would not follow in either Kamdar's or her father's footsteps to do so. I cannot wait to read the next book in this very intriguing series with wonderful characters and great worldbuilding in this intricately stratified realm of Kamdaria.

My reviews are usually on the plot, characterization, character arc, structure, POV, and style. I do not review grammar, syntax, or voice because English is not my first or second language. I say nothing about it unless the errors are so blatant that they interfere with my reading enjoyment.

In this book, I will not review any of what I usually do; why? My reasons are simple. This book is part of a series, and I already reviewed the first book in those areas. I'm glad to say the author has improved in the areas that the first book had simple issues. However, I want to stress one important point. I am reading this series from the point of view of a young adult. The author wrote this book for a young adult audience. As I read and immersed myself in the story, I remembered how when I was thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen, and I can see myself totally in love with the characters. As an Adult, I am engaged in the story.

I must say the plot is not for an adult Omayra Velez. My taste for fantasy stories is more complex, with mature content and a great number of Characters. On the other hand, teen Omayra loves this book and the characters. The thing I love the most is how the author has made Talise seem real. She is not the perfect little princess, but she is not a brat either. She has trust issues, and that is something many teens can relate to in today’s society. I still will like to see more of the side characters, and I would love to see more of a character arc for the side characters. I will keep reading not only to follow the story but also to see if these side characters get more fleshed out.

As it is right now, I will give this series to my fifteen-year-old niece to read, recommend this series to my friends with teens and my English teacher friends.

Talise is just barely starting to get comfortable in her new role of Master Shaper at the palace, but time is not on her side. With Aaden gone and the threat of Kessoku growing larger, Talise must take on the role of a leader in order to protect her friends and her country. The people of the Crown are angry about the emperor lying to them, the people of the Gate are angry in general, and the poor people of the Storm are just trying to make it through the next winter.

When knowledge of an ancient amulet that has the power to bring the kingdom to its knees appears, Talise knows she cannot just stand by by and let the amulet fall into the hands of Kessoku. But as she and her trusted allies begin the search, Talise soon realizes that if she cannot win back the people’s loyalty, then the battle will be over before it even begins.

Okay, so I absolutely loved Talise in this one. She really matures and learns how to stand up for what she believe in, and I’m so proud of her for it. Talise is stubborn, yes, but she is also goodnatured and kindhearted, and I truly believe that she wants what’s best for Kamdaria.

As for Aaden, I had so many feelings about him in this book that it gave me whiplash. There are going to be times where you’re going to want to strangle him, but just you wait!!! He still totally has a spot on my book boyfriend list. And Claye now that’s something I wasn’t expecting. I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say you’re going to be looking at him very differently by the end of the novel then you did when you started it!

This second novel completely lives up to the first. It was brilliantly written, and the plot was entirely complex yet utterly exquisite. I love getting lost in the world of Kamdaria, and I cannot wait to read the conclusion of this epic trilogy!

Okay sooo these are my review points!

This second book of “The Elements of Kamdaria series is a collection of novellas 5 - 8 (will continue to novella 9 on the upcoming third book) ♥️ We’re still following Talise journey, after it was revealed that she’s actually the princess aka Emperor Flarius’s remaining daughter, and after Aaden decided to go infiltrating the rebel group Kessoku. AND SILLY ME, I just realize that according to the titles, in the first book “The Elements of the Crown, Talise story was set in Crown area of the empire, and here, her story was set in Gate area (I LOVE IT, KAY!) 😎👍🏻 Okay so, this book basically tells us about how Talise disagreeing with her father about the best way to attack and weaken Kessoku, so that she was kind of running away from the palace with her own army to help the crown gaining their people’s trust again, especially those who lives struggling in the Gate and Storm areas. Some friends will remain loyal, some other will betray her, and when she realize that she’s still need to cooperate with her father, things have became out of control 😱 Will she be able to protect the powerful amulet of Kamdar? Will she reunite with Aaden again? Will she and her loyal friends survive Kessoku?

Let me remind you that I’M STILL A LOYAL AADEN FAN! 🤣♥️ That means I really dislike someone in this book because not only this person will betray Talise in the end, but they’re also trying to make Aaden look bad 😪 I really hope Talise and Aaden will be back together again in the next book, even if that means they’ll have to get through hate to love moments all over again 😭♥️

I love Wendy so much! She’s totally my new book BFF 😍 As for the older characters like Emperor Flarius, Aaden’s grandparents, and people around them, I’m hoping for them to eventually working together with Talise 😭

It was packed of action just like the first book, with awesome plot twist, and I’m looking forward to book 3! Crossing my fingers and I believe Kay will give us a satisfying conclusion ♥️

This is the 2nd book in The Elements of Kamdaria series. This book picks up where the first book left off. If you haven’t read book one, I suggest you read it first.

Our protagonist, Talise, changes a little from the first book. Her mistrust and trust issues are still there; however, since she is still a teenager they are sometimes worse than others. Even down to mistrusting her best friend. Thoughout the story she does come to terms with her mistrust issues and does eventually trust those closest to her. In the end, just like book one someone will betray her. I don’t want to tell you who as it is a spoiler. Talise goes through the entire emotional whirlwind of being a princess. But she’s not just an ordinary princess as she’s also master shaper and those two combined are a force to be reckoned with.

Talise goes on a quest to find the missing amulet by visiting each of the Gate cities and offering them any form of help they need in exchange hoping someone will give her insight to the amulet’s whereabouts. Along the way she and her army encounter the Kessoku many times and they engage in battle. I’m not sure I liked the battle scenes they just didn’t feel right but don’t detract from the book.

There are a few plot twists in this book that I didn’t see coming. I won’t tell you what they are so you can be just as surprised as I was.

If you like action, adventure and a little romance thrown in then I suggest you read this series. I am looking forward to reading the next one and finding out what is in store for Talise and her friends.

What I like the most in this story is the character development on Taliese's character. She's more careful and more mature based on how she thinks and acts around her friends and soldiers who are loyal to her. Although, the down side is she had trust issues.
I feel really sad for her at the ending, I really hope she won't fall down further in the trust issue. I hope she will come back stronger in the next book.

Another thing I really like is the readers got to see the real history of Kamdaria. Sometimes not all history is recorded, like Kamdaria some of the horrible events was hidden from the public.
I really like the process of how Taliese learn to be a good leader from this journey of finding the amulet and how she become someone worthy of wielding the amulet.

Despite all that, I thought some parts are dragging to the long inner monologue from Talise. It also feels quite repetitive at some point.
However, it was still tolerable and I'm still able to enjoy reading Taliese's journey.

Overall, this is an improvement compare to the last one. The flow is smoother as one chapter changes to another, because I know this one is a compilation of four different novellas and a stronger main character.
I'm looking forward to continue Taliese's journey on this series!

Another amazing story that Kay L Moody brought to us 😊
In this books we continue to following Talise and hers friends through Kamdaria.
We see all the characters evolve and more of the country, apart from the palace.
Talise is a strong character, wirh trust issues because of her upbringing, but we can see her growing so much and learn how to trust in people around her. Wendy is the most loyal friend Talise could get, she always on her side. Tempest is also very loyal and true to her principles, even if that hurts her friends. Rio and Fryra are the most loyal soldiers Talise could get to help her around.
Aeden and Claye are very complex characters. The first is divided into his love for Talise, his love for his father, even if he doesn't agree with his motifs and actions, and the loyalty to the emperor. Claye always grew up believing that the royal family is Kamdaria problem and they need to go away, but his love for Talise make him see things a little bit differently. The actions of both of them are completely understandable.
It's a book full of action and twist and turns that make us want to know more.

Talise is fighting for the loyalty of the citizens, but also for a magical amulet to not fall in the hands of enemies.
I loved the twist at the end, I did not see it coming and was genuinely surprised. It made me rethink all that had happened until that point and how that changed the future.

The book was too long for my comfort, and didn’t draw me in like I would’ve liked. The character development was done well, but I did not feel a connection to them. I also feel a small romance was a bit forced, it never quite felt real.

What I really liked about the book is the content. Even though the violence was high, it’s mild violence with not a lot of blood or death. With the content so low, I feel most anyone can read this, young readers along with adults could enjoy this.

We jump into this with Talise looking out for Aaden's promised return from the Kessoku where he infiltrated their ranks as a spy for the Emperor.

Despite being Master Shaper, Talise find a herself excluded from the Emperor's war council chambers, where the Emperor is spending all if his time, and avoiding his citizens. Talise is tasked with listening to their requests, and finds out for herself how upset & dissatisfied the citizens really are.

From clashing with the Emperor's own forces, and finding Aaden seemingly fully supporting and leading the Kessoku, Talise has her work cut out for her. Her one main goal, after retrieving the amulet, is to free the prisoners held by the Kessoku, one of whom happens to be Wendy's brother Cyrus.

This book culminates with a flurry of activity, betrayal, reconciliation & determination. I'm not ashamed to say that coming to the end of this book, I had a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat.

Really looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Wow! This book was fantastic! I liked it even better than the first. The characters are fleshed out more, especially the ones beyond Talise and Aaden. I’m liking Wendy and her cheeky family even more. I’m liking the emperor even less. Confusion about who is on which side and what the sides even are runs throughout the book. This second installment had more adventure, fighting, relationship back and forth. It takes place in the middle ring of the kingdom, with the hardworking middle class. I found these characters quiet strength and anger, then devotion, to be endearing. I wanted them to have a better life. I wanted Talise’s solutions to work. She is one stubborn girl who really needs to learn to accept help from others. She has matured a good deal by the end of the last part. She is a true leader trying to help her people. I felt like this book moved faster than the first, perhaps because of the increased action and descriptions, or maybe from the deadlines involved. Another enjoyable read for me.

‘The empire is full of unrest
Maybe it’s time to let the empire go, or at least let the ineffective emperor go. And the caste system…and the systematic poverty…and the…and the
When the masses find out they’ve been betrayed and their needs are not being met, the vacuum will be filled by anger, then with “Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot.

When money is more important than a moral economic system:
‘Prosperity at the expense of others isn’t prosperity. It’s slavery.
Now, I totally get the basic concept of “lower wages / higher profit margin, but even I know that more than those two factors go into an economic equation. Malnourished employees are not as effective while at work; under-appreciated employees do not implement improvements. Sick employees are either not present or they infect others so as not to miss work. Etc.

Lesson learned:
We thrive when we pool our talents for the common good.

May we all strive to be worthy of any leadership roles we may have.

Next for me in this series is ‘The Elements of the Storm.

Received as a review copy, this is an honest review. Containing the four Gate books of the Kamdaria series, has Talise and her trusted friends facing at each Gate a unique set of challenges that alter the fate of Kamdaria itself. Whether it's truly 'seeing' how the kingdom functions and what they need from the emperor at the River Gate. To the Smoke Gate that has Talise undertaking a cryptic journey to prove she deserves the right to wield the powerful Amulet. The Vine Gate and Ember Gate books brings on the ultimate challenge of Talise relying upon not only her own shaping abilities but that of her friends' tricks to embrace the Amulets power. As the weather turns frigid, Talise fights to convince those that call the Ember Gate home, that are a part of Kamdaria and their aid in helping freeing those that Kessoku captured can make a huge difference. Four unique stories that give this brilliant series a wild adventure. Highly recommended.

What an amazing continuation of this series, as always the author delivered an emotionally heart-stopping story that left me completely stunned. Between the plot twists that I never saw coming, and the character developments that had me torn. Talise has grown so much since book 1, she's strong, determined and even when the odds are stacked against her, she faces her problems with so much fierceness that even I felt proud of her. Her journey throughout this series has been filled with many difficult choices, the friends she makes shaped her into something more of a true heroine. Then there's the romantic stuff, she has it worse than me. Talk about bad decisions, if I was a character in this book I'd advise her to become a nun. This book really tugs on your heartstrings, but the magic is definitely fun and unique. I absolutely love this series so much, it has everything. An incredible storyline, fantastic characters, and a rich lore that is intriguing from the start.

This is the second grouped up books in the series, with it being books 5, 6, 7, and 8. This one opens doors to questions that you never thought to ask. It also ties up some ends which is great, cause having more doors opening with nothing closing could lead to a too hectic ending.

The book gives good details and helps you visualize everything that is happening without it getting boring with too many details at once.

I received this as an ARC, I have been able to follow this great series from beginning to end and have loved every minute of it. This review is my own unbiased thoughts of the series. I am truly thankful that I was able to read this series. I am sure many will enjoy it to the fullest.

This is the collection of the 4 books in the middle of the serie.
If you read the ones before then you already know this serie is totally amazing.
I've started with a short excerpt/story in the beginning of book 2 and got addicted.
I've already finished all the books and I can say I never read a full serie that could keep the suspense and the "guessing" for so long.
If you haven's started yet, go right ahead, you will not regret it!
It's perfect for everybody, even for those that don't regard fantasy as their favorite as it tackles a lot of different themes and some very important question.
I wish this story can get the recognition it deserves and make all available platforms, even it the school books!
PS: you can check my reviews for the individual books in ŷ too.

I enjoyed this work. It was a solid continuation of Talise's story and she continued to grow as a character throughout the work. Despite the character growth, I found it difficult to connect with the characters overall and Talise really felt like the only one with much development/growth. The love story also felt forced to me. There were a few moments/occurrences that were also pretty anti-climatic that I felt should have had more development - no spoilers, but they were big moments that should have been dramatic but instead were over in a paragraph with minimal conflict. Overall it was a solid read.

The Elements of the Gate is books 5-8 of the Elements of Kamdaria series. Since we are well into the. series now, I really liked how the writing style made the transitions between the books really smooth and easy to follow. The world-building continues to grow and morph, and as readers, we got to dive more into the class system, which is a prominent notion in the storyline. I continue to fall in love with the character Talise since we get to see the flaws and trust issues.

Fantastic continuation to Book 1- The Elements of the Crown. In this second book of the series, The Elements of the Gate, we follow Talise and her friends as they try to maneuver around the Emperor and Kessoku in order to win battles and bring peace to Kamdaria.

This story is full of twists and turns I never saw coming. There are great storylines and it continues to reel you in. The character development gets better and better as well. I highly recommend and can’t wait to start Book 3- The Elements of the Storm.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This gave me a better look into the world and its problems. Also I got to know some of the other characters outside the main ones. The deeper I get into the world the more I understand the hardships of the characters. Talise is trying to settle into her new role while deal with the backlash of the emperor's lies. She deal with some heartache as well. She on a mission to find a lost amulet that could save the empire. There are so many twists and turns that not sure what is to come next.
