When a psychic ends up dead, people wonder why he couldn't predict his own demise. Perhaps he didn't have the power after all. Ivy and the biddie committee can spy charlatans from a mile away. But is something more powerful at work?
Constance Barker lives in the Midwest with her husband and two Akitas where she can look out from her screened porch onto a wooded area brimming with activity. Since she was a young girl she read mysteries, often given to her by her grandmother. She loved figuring out who the culprit was and sometimes she was right and other times startled at who the author picked as the assailant. Now she enjoys writing mysteries herself. When she isn't writing stories, she can be found in her favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas or shopping for bargains.
P.I. Everett has a missing persons case and asks Ivy for help. The man is a "healer" and has several people that have paid big money to be healed and are very disgruntled when things go wrong. Is he missing, kidnapped or dead? Even though she claims there is no romance between her and Everett she sure is jealous when she catches him checking out another woman. Ivy has made contact with Harmon with the help of her coven and Everett's mom, who is a powerful witch. Between the case, her business and her concern for Harmon's safety she is wore out and asks for help in guiding Harmon out of the eddy before its too late. A great paranormal story with mystery and adventure. I can't wait to read future books to see if a romance does develop between Ivy and Everett. I also like the gay ghost, he/she is a help and a hinderance in most of the mysteries, and has a bit of snarkiness. She brings the laughs to the story.

Ivy is helping Everette again with a missing case. The person missing is a healer. They keep running into dead ends. They leads are going into different directions. Things will slowly fall into place. Ivy is also worried about her brother Harmon. She is trying to find him and bring him home. Things are more serious for Harmon than Ivy would have thought. Ivy also has the worry of her business on her shoulders.
I really enjoyed this book, the twist and turns were really good. I really like Ivy and Everette working together, hoping to see if it moves to a more romantic relationship. Really enjoy Ivy's family, hoping to see more Everette's and others included in the future books. Can't wait to see what the next adventure is for Ivy and others.

Ivy is carrying a heavy load once Mabel and her family coven were able to help her connect to her brother Harmon.
Everett’s mother points out that firefighters never carry a hose alone
For Ivy, the case she is chasing with Everett of a missing healer, her botanica business, her worries for twin brother Harmon all add up to a very tired and strained Ivy.
Is the healer really a con or something else? Is he working alone, or are others working with him, perhaps at cross purposes?
Is Harmon anywhere he can come back from?
Can Moira be more of a pain?
Universes of pain and trouble must be faced fir Ivy and those dear to her can forge ahead to their next adventure
Strong family and community bonds. Intense emotional drama

When the local psychic ends up dead, people start to question her (former) abilities. While everyone else is worried about the past, it is up to our heroine to figure out what is going on now.
This is book five of the series but it works fine as a standalone. All the essential bits are explained early on.
This is cozy witch mystery which I am finding seems to a favorite genre for me. The story is well written, easy to read and fun. I am really enjoying this particular setting and characters. I am not really sure why, but the combination really works for me. Overall, the story was highly enjoyable and I look forward to visiting again soon.
Highly recommended.

Ivy and her family continue trying to contact with Harmon, however, she only has a tenuous connection and the fact he doesn’t recognize the stars in the sky is concerning. Meanwhile, Everett has a missing person case he would like Ivy to help him with. Franklyn had discovered a healing ability which turned into a money-maker. His healings may not be permanent, which has made his clients angry and may have something to do with his disappearance. With all the stress, Ivy is at her physical and psychical limits. Brewing Up the Wrong Tree is an intense mystery with twists and suspense. I especially liked Ivy’s determination to use all her resources to find answers.

Psychics, magical healers, transferring diseases from one person to another? Ivy and Everett have the most strange case they have ever dealt with. A psychic police woman has called them in. A partner of a healing clinic claims his partner is missing. The missing man magically heals people of serious health issues just by his touch. But some of their clients are now claiming the healing only worked for a short time and the ailments and diseases are back. In fact one woman died. With so many potential killers how will they find the one? Was Franklin really a healer or were he and his partner conmen? This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. Ivy is a member of a family of witches who live in Saint Augustine Florida. She owns her own botany shop selling tropical plants to the local people and contractors. In her back room she creates potions to help people out. She also has a knack for solving mysteries and helps her friend a private investigator figure out crimes. Follow along as her and her corky family and her ghost friend I saw the little towns mysteries murders and other troubles. A fun read. Check it out
Ivy is helping Everette with another case while Blanche is watching the botany store. A local healer has gone either missing or has been murdered. Lots of suspects, twists and turns. Plus Ivy is still trying to help her brother Harmon. With her coven’s help, she is able to reach him, but needs to figure out how to help him. A wonderful series, and I can’t wait for the next book. Every book in this series just gets better. I sat down to read this and was totally engrossed. Ivy is smart, driven, and worried about her twin brother. Between her worries and her business and the newest case she's helping out with, her magic is taking a hit. Grab a copy of this book and join Ivy's magical journey.

I am really enjoying this series for a couple of reasons. 1. The main character and the detective are bot toying around with a relationship, but they have an awesome working relationship. 2. The plots and storyline of each book beckons me to read for more. Make sure to read the series in order in order to piece together the true underlining storyline.

Well, the Harmon mystery is solved. The case is solved. Of course, a late arriving customer promises a whole new set of problems which I am sure we will figure out in the next book. The case in this book was extremely interesting and hard to solve since there were a plethora of possible suspects and no body. It was very good. Elliott’s Mom, Mabel, is a most interesting and oddly formal witch. I like her. I am looking forward to finding out what happens next. I did love this book!
I enjoyed this book very much. Ivy has been looking for her twin brother Harmon. She is partnering up with Everett to find out what happened to Franklyn. No one has heard from him in a few days so they do not know if he is alive or dead. Several people have been ripped off from this guy. Will they find him alive or dead?

I could not put this book down until I finished it! Loved the whole healer storyline and the twist about the illnesses. The Harmon part of the story was awesome, too! The reason he got lost...wow! I wish I had the imagination that Constance Barker has to write this stuff! But I guess that’s why I’m a loyal reader and not a writer. Fantastic series!

Ivy sure has her hands full! She is struggling to connect with her twin brother Harmon, and can't figure out where he is or what's happening to him. Stronger magic in the form of coven plus Everette's mother reveal the cause of the problem, and it's a doozy! Meanwhile when time and energy are running low, Blanche leaves her bank job to work at Ivy's Botanical just in time for Ivy to help Everette solve a most bizarre case about a healer.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat and reading non-stop until the conclusion. WOW! Exciting barely covers my thoughts! It was fascinating and not like anything I read before. Don't miss this one! This series gets better and better. Thus one is absolutely the best in the series so far!
I have read most of the book in this series & each one gets even better than the one before; It has witches, familiars, a cross dressing ghost, is full of suspense & I love that they live in a lighthouse. You gotta read her books. One of my favorite authors.

This series never disappoints with such great characters that I love. Barker creates lots of fun magic that makes me smile. This book answers some of the lingering questions of the series' plot which made this one great.
I’ve really been enjoying this series and almost gave it 4 stars but remembered how confusing the beginning was with all the characters introduced at once. It made up for it with the ending that came out of nowhere and was quite imaginative. Keep reading it’s worth it!
Ivy and Everett have a new case. A psychic healer is missing and Harmon is still missing. Ivy is being pulled in to many directions. I like that know madder what, she keeps going until everything is right again.
This was a pretty cool idea but it didn't quite come together, and I kept trying to work out the timelines of things and they just didn't line up for me.
Harmon, Ivy's twin brother is still missing and although Ivy had a short weak telepathic connection, she could no longer reach him, which is worrying everyone. And then, there is the case of the missing healer - true miracle worker or charlatan?
I agree with all the other reviewers who say that the series is getting better and better; I certainly am enjoying it very much. Although this is a continuing storyline, it works very well as a standalone. The characters are fun, the plat is clever and engaging and there are many a laugh along the way. Of course, there is also the possible spark of romance between Ivy and Everette, but with his mother hovering on the periphery, who know is that will happen!
