Payne Emerson is the boy I grew up with, the keeper of all my secrets.

This was a much anticipated read for me from an author who became one of my favourites from her debut duet. That alone should speak volumes about her talent, and if she's new to you, read Fragile Things immediately. Trust me, this is one journey you don't want to miss a single thing from. Ok enough of my nice review as I finished Restless about 20 minutes ago, and it's taken me this long to stop yelling and wanting to throw my kindle. (I always review as soon as I've finished a book, so readers get my raw reaction, but needed to calm down first) Enter all the sweary words here that would never be allowed in a review. I AM A MESS!!!!! Considering the way the last book in the series ended, I knew this book was going to wring every emotion out of me over and over, so much so I procrastinated so much once I opened this book up, but then suddenly as much as I wanted to prolong my stay in Folkstone, I found myself madly turning the pages back and forth, absolutely gobsmacked. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Then let's not talk about those last few chapters, as I'm still rocking in a corner, about to pour a large glass of wine. I could say so much more, like how many characters I wanted to slap, shake or kill, but this journey needs to be experienced first hand. This author is an evil genius, cliffhanger queen. ONE CLICK IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! Would give more stars if I could.
Although this is only the third book I have read from Samantha, I have to admit that with each book she is trying harder to reach a higher level in her writing level and I truly believe that she has a brilliant career ahead of her.
This book was interesting from the first page and I easily connected with the main characters and immersed myself in the plot itself.
"Restless Things" is a dark high school romance with best friends to lovers trope with suspense plot and mystery that will prevent you from separating from the book until the end.
Sunday and Payne's relationship is everything!
The book ended with a cliffhanger and that's why I'm looking forward to the next book.
If you're looking for a dark suspense high school romance and you also love Samantha's writing style, then this is the book for you!!!
I loved this series and didn't think anything could top my love for Stella and Poe. Sunday and Payne however are an awesome duo and I love the history between them. The bumps along the way they have and keep hitting just break my heart. The angst, the suspense, the intrigue, the steam between them....just wow. This is one helluva roller-coaster ride and ends on a cliffhanger that had me shouting.
Restless Things by Samantha Lovelock has been one of my most-anticipated books and it definitely lives up to the hype. Restless Things is the third installment in the Folkestone Sins series and this is Sunday and Payne's story. Sunday and Payne have known each other since birth and have been best friends since they were young children. It would seem natural that these two would eventually become more and they were headed in that direction until an unthinkable tragedy caused Sunday's life to spiral out of control. Now, she feels that she can't risk losing another person that she loves.
This book is a quick page-turner that packs a serious punch. It has a bit of everything...mystery, suspense, heat, angst, both heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. I absolutely adore all of these characters and their relationships with each other. These guys (and girls) give serious friend goals. And Payne...oh my heart, Payne. Love him!
I felt every emotion while reading this book, many at the same time, but *heads up* it leaves you with a major cliffhanger that will have you wanting to throw your book or Kindle. I cannot wait for the rest of Sunday and Payne's story and I look forward to more from this series and this Author.
Remember to breath... holylovingheck, this is one hella a journey the emotional rollercoater, my heart, mind & soul is torn into a million directions.
What a powerful start to the 3rd installment in the Folkestone Sin Series. Instantly your drawn into the drama & Suspense that is laced within this town. I'm beyond words speechless.
Payne Emerson has swooped in stole my heart and padlocked it to him! My heart is summersaulting & damn the butterflies are real! Payne is the most gorgeous, loving, passionate & emotional guy I've read in a while. He has left me absofrigginloutley swooning😍🥵
Sunday Easten damn gurl.. she is one gorgeous tough chick with a real sass quality to her badassary. My heart has torn for Sunday throughout.
Poe & Stella are just everything to Sunday & Payne it's breathtakingly beautiful to read. But that friggin ending I'm currently picking my jaw off the floor. My heart is aching and the emotions i am feeling are beyond real.
Samantha Lovelock is beyond friggin talented andd created masterpieces within the Folkestone Sin Series!
Welcome back to Folkestone, dear readers, where teenage angst and first love drama is nestled into an elite world of secrets, lies, complicated family legacies, and corrupted power. Poe and Stella found some closure in their romance- but the heirs world around them continues to madly spin on- and now our eyes are on the lovable besties that are still in the midst of their own messy love story- the charmingly enchanting Sunday and Payne.
While this story features a different couple than the first two Folkestone books, this shouldn’t be read as a standalone. Sunday and Payne’s romance begins two books ago, their history spanning long before those first pages, and the actions and events that happened in the prior duet are a very heavy part of Restless Things. This story doesn't miss a beat- it dives right back into the heirs drama, all of the elite intrigue and corruption that these young friends are deep in the thick of. Poe and Stella’s story left us with a giant cliffhanger that careened us straight into where this story began. Heirs secrets yet again dismantling the very fragile trust and security these teens have.
To be honest, I was surprised at how quickly we were getting some answers, as many secrets and mistruths are exposed early on in this story. And, while I love finding out answers, it left me a smidge unsettled- because nothing is as it seems in the heirs world. Did this mean that Sunday and Payne’s story was going to be less interwoven with heirs machinations? Or did that mean even deeper, darker, and more complicated secrets awaited? You’ll need to dig in to find out just what these truths mean for our core characters, but if we’ve learned anything by know it is that no relationship in this world is easy. Not even Payne and Sunday’s- not even the childhood best friends.
Of course, this love story is different from Poe and Stella’s because Sunday and Payne are best friends- friends who already know many of the light and dark aspects of one another’s stories. That makes the stakes of their connection higher - because exploring their complicated feelings means risking one of their only sources of comfort, one of their only safe places- their friendship. As I mentioned we get a lot of secrets exposed and some new information comes out early- and it left me wondering, then, just what was going to be the central drama of this story. But then I realized the tension Samantha is exploring in this leg of their romantic journey- because nothing is as dangerous, as risky, as destroying one of the only pure, safe, and true connections you have in a world of corruption and deceit. And that becomes a key source of angsty drama-and Samantha does something really smart, she recognizes these characters can’t truly explore that until they have a “beat- until they have a moment.
While their stories have spanned multiple books, this is the first time we get to spend a book inside both of their heads. Flashbacks and quiet moments help us learn more about the circumstances that have shaped them, and a bit more about them as people. We still get Sunday’s feisty fierceness, but we also see a far more vulnerable character. And Payne’s heart is far more gentle and optimistic than I expected- he’s got a swoony quality to him. I love them both- and feel fiercely protective over them. After the ways they’ve shown up for their friends...and each other...these are two characters who deserve some peace...some happy. I don’t think we fully “know them just yet either, so I’m excited to continue to dig deeper into them both in the next book.
Yet again Samantha proves herself as an artist of the written word- this story is just beautifully scribed. Evocative imagery and meticulous emotional tension permeate the pages- and like the prior books in the series, Samantha really artfully juxtaposes tone to create a dynamic experience- the familiar warmth of these friends contrats so vividly with the foreboding melancholy of the world around them. The flashbacks in particular are powerfully engaging, and, until our epic final few scenes, they really serve as the story’s emotional center and key lever for characterization.
Just when I think I get what this story is going to be about, we are very quickly catapulted over the edge of a cliffy that I was not quite anticipating- and I’m still trying to figure out just what I think about it and what it means for the broader narrative of this couple. But I do know I’ll be anxiously awaiting the story that is next- because these two are so dear, and I will do anything for them to find an HEA.
This is book #3 in the series Folkestone Sins and is gripping from the very beginning. I couldn't put this book down it was a really great read and it really has it all. The drama, the suspense is bail biting, angst and captivating moments that are very emotional and will have your emotions on a roller coaster ride. This is Payne and Sunday's story and one that is beautiful. They have known each other a very long time and have been dancing around there feelings especially Sun as she doesn't want to get hurt. Sunday is such an amazing woman that she will give you all of herself as she cares about everyone I her life but she has been through a lot. Payne is an amazing guy that and is her best friend and will do anything for her.
I'm trying not to give away spoilers because everyone must read this book and this whole series from the very firsts book this author has gripped you with her writing and her style which is totally amazing and I highly recommend reading them form the beginning because you will love all the characters that she has created in this world. The story flows throughout and I loved the way that this author has written the characters she's really brought them to life in a way that the reader can connect to them. It is full of twists and shockers and I enjoyed this book so much that if I could give ,more than 5 starts I would, I cant wait to read the next book in this series and I really look forward to reading more from his author in the future.
The twists keeping hitting the Folkestone Heirs hard. Sunday’s brother may be back, but he came with a lot of secrets that will rock the group. Sunday herself is ready to come clean to Stella about her past. Knowing what she’s gone through makes me see her for the strong person she’s grown to be seemingly without the support of the parents who she should be able to count on. The real constant in her life has been Payne. Payne for his part is drawn to this girl first as a boy and now as a man. I love Payne. His adoration of Sunday is something that can’t be duplicated. These two are goals, but the universe, or something more sinister, seems to be conspiring against them. After the cliffhanger ending, I will be anxiously waiting for book 4!
I seriously am so mad at Author Samatha Lovelock.. how could you? I know what you did .. sitting there laughing while I’m crying my eyes out huh? Figures.. I been anticipating this book for ever.. and I savored it til the last word. Mother of cliffhanger got me all up in my feels.. Sunday and Payne .. they are best friends and lovers or would be lovers but secrets of Folkestone are always ruining everyone’s plans aren’t they? I take back what I said I don’t want to move there anymore... I’m not sure I could survive the drama and epic reveals that seem to be so Catastrophic.. these two are so heartbending and epically bad at communicating.. they have their reasons but I’m devastated right now so I’m mad at them.. I love Payne .. he broke me and definitely stole my heart.. he’s so sweet and loving.. he has some smooth moves too .. but we all know I love these heir boys .. I really hope book four comes out soon..I need more .. I devoured it.. I love them.. Author Samatha Lovelock must have been thinking of me when she started this series because it has so much of everything I love.. the epic sex scenes and heat leading up to it are definitely my jam.. she also has a story with in a story and I love that in books .. I am addicted and as mad as I am right now I know this series will be a reread for me for years to come...
Well I'm a complete wreck... so is my kindle (it went flying across my room). Restless Things was GAH! The sweetest return to Folkestone; but then you get to the meat of this amazing read and WOW! So many twists and turns, gut punches (I'm lookin at you Lovelock!), and an ending that will leave you screaming! I refuse to give away anything because you need to go into this absolutely brilliant read blind. What I will say is read this book! Read this series! It has quickly become one of my absolute favorites!
I loved Sunday and Paynes story! I couldn’t get enough of these two and my heart literally broke for Sunday. These two have so many hurdles and twists and turns it was impossible to put this down and can’t wait for the next one
I have been so eager to read Sunday and Payne’s story and let me tell you the wait was work it! The ending of Fragile Things certainly put the cat among the pigeons and it is that cat that explains an incredible story that, as Poe explains ... it could only happening Folkestone!
First off, what is it with some of the mothers in this place? I won’t elaborate but holy moly my protective nature flourished while my aggressive side certainly came out reading about them. Secondly, that’s the whole point... this author hooks you in straight away with her exciting and gripping storyline. You become enmeshed in the story to the point where you feel every emotion and want to comfort and/or celebrate along with the characters.
I loved the character of Sunday from the first book and even though there’s a time or two where I could have shaken her 😃, she is still a teenager and I reminded myself of that fact. . She is such an effervescent and spirited girl who cares deeply for her friends, she always has their backs. Discovering what her past was like showed how far she has come and how hard she has pushed through. Payne is a honey! End of story! 😂 No, he really is and Sunday needed someone like him in her life. Together they are explosive and if they’d just get their stars to align then they’d be right.
Having Stella and Poe featured quite a lot in the story was fabulous too, we got to know a bit more about them too. I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns in this book and know that when the fourth book releases I will be just as excited as I was for this book.
I have no hesitation at all in recommending this fantastic book to everyone who enjoys a romance with loads of mystery.
This was my first time reading this author, and I am just so in love with her writing style!! I don't usually read a whole lot of high school romances these days, but the emotions in this one was absolutely insane in all the best of ways! Plus that cliffhanger?! Holy crap. I usually don't read books that end in cliffy's because of how much I obsess over them, and even though I didn't know this wasn't a standalone I can't even be mad because of how brutal that cliffy really was. I honestly didn't see it coming, and my heart just broke for all these characters that I adore so much!
Because it's not a standalone, I don't want to say too much about the book, but this world is just insane. There is SO much going on between the friends and their families, and is so, so twisted! There is one particular twist that I figured would happen (just because that's how my mind works, lol) but I was still left feeling heartbroken for the certain character it happened too. Gah, I'm trying so hard to be vague here!
I did really love Sunday and Payne so much, even though I did want to shake them most of the time! You can just feel the love they have for each other under all the confusion and angst, and I loved every minute of it. I can't wait for the next book!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
This is book 3 in The Folkestone Sins Series. A dark High School Romance!
Say it isn’t so! It didn’t really happen! I have no words! Well I do but I can’t say those words and I can’t spoil it for anyone, party poopers!
Sunday and Payne’s story is one for the books! Sunday is a broken soul who is always there for everyone else and sacrifices herself for things she thinks she’s not ready for! Payne is the best friend, her rock, her one and only, only they think they can’t have what they want without losing the other one! Secrets are revealed, hearts are broken, and more tragedy comes barreling into their lives but the question is, is this something they can get through? Or is it the end?
Payne and Sunday are seriously becoming two of my favorite characters and @samantha has written them perfectly and I couldn’t have thought of a better story for them. Their story isn’t over yet! One character really needs to be fitted and offed for sure. I loved getting to know sundays story and her past is something that a lot of people will be able to relate to!
If you haven’t started this series yet, then get a jump on book 1 now before this releases!
Restless Things is book 3 of the Folkestone Sins saga. It is Sunday and Payne’s story, which is intertwined with Stella and Poe’s story(the first two books).
Fractured Things left me hanging, knowing that the saga was transitioning, so I have been waiting for this book for forever!
I loved getting to know Sunday and Payne individually, but getting to know their pasts was even better. The history of their friendship from the very beginning explains so much. The author completely translates the pain of growing up a Folkestone Heir into their stories, the bitterness of money and power they have to suffer through.
Then, there is the elephant in the room, the return of a mysterious person. So much drama evolves, which slowly threads its deadly fingers into their lives. Broken hearts, mistakes, betrayals, all lead up to a tragic ending that has me in tears. I want to rip my heart out, it hurts so bad. I know more is coming, but that doesn’t comfort how I’m suffering now.
Now I just have to wait out the next 3 months, to find out how they move on.
Story 📖: 5/5. Page-turner, couldn’t put it down! Heat 🔥: 3/5. Conflicts cause the lack of steam, but when it’s there, it’s scalding. Cliffhanger 🏔: 5/5. I’m broken. Seriously. Someone fix me.
I don’t think my heart has stopped going 100 miles an hour yet. Payne and Sunday have been my Favourite characters from the moment we met them in the other 2 books. This is their story, Boy what a story it is! I laughed, I cried, I swore a lot and I fell in love with them even more.
Sunday and Payne have been friends since birth and have been inseparable since. What happens when you fall in love with your best friend? Do you go for it? Or are you to scared to, incase it ruins your friendship?
Poe and Stella are amazing best friends and I don’t think you will find any other best friends like them. When I say I’m obsessed with this series and all the characters, it’s an understatement.
That ending has ripped my heart out and I can’t wait for book 4 to see what happens next.
FRAGILE THINGS and FRACTURED THINGS were the stories of Stella and Poe. Their best friends were Sunday and Payne. There is so much in those two books that is important to read and be amazed by that will make more sense in the events of RESTLESS THINGS. Sunday swooped in and became the friend that Stella needed. NOW we learn more about Stella, the girl that was always smiling, positive and a huge support to Stella. Wellllllll, all was not as it seemed and boy were there secrets galore!
My heart broke for the hurts and horrors that Sunday's heart held. The sense of abandonment and isolation. I was so thankful for the support of her friend Payne. I loved this dual POV to get Payne's perspective. The teen years are so very hard, but having wealthy parents and being the elite of Folkestone wasn't to their advantage. Maybe to their disadvantage. By the last page, I wasn't sure who to hurt for more, Sunday or Payne. I loved the characters, the relationships, and the description that had me in the middle of Folkestone. I'm so looking forward to RUINED THINGS!
This is no doubt one of / if not the best series i have read to date. The author's writing has you feeling all the feels and more. You feel fully submerged in the story and its like you're part of the friend group. You fall more in love with the male characters and want the girls to be your best friends.
Sunday & Payne.. well what can i say, if you have read the first 2 books in this series (you definitely should!) you will know how much we needed their story. Their love for each other is very apparent even if they both try to deny it. Throughout this book i laughed, i cried and i gasped on several occasions. It kept me turning the pages quicker than my eyes could take in the words. Oh and that Cliffhanger....WOW!!!!!
Needless to say June is too far away for the next installment :D
5* This is Sunday & Payne's story which I've been waiting to read. The two have been inseparable since meeting when they were young. Both keeping their feelings away from the other. Sunday has suffered at the hands of her parents but the full extent is exposed within the story. Betrayal, loss, secrets and misunderstandings this story has it all. I'm absolutely desperate for the next book.
5 WILD RIDE STARS!! Wow, Payne and Sunday took us readers on a ride. I could not get enough of these two and their story. This author sure knows how to keeps us hooked all the way through. You must read this book.
This series just keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait to see what Samantha Lovelock has in store for us for Sunday and Payne’s conclusion.
This book was one of my most anticipated reads for the year and holy shit Samantha Lovelock didn’t disappoint! After the ending of Fractured Things I knew we were in for a ride but nothing could prepare me for the epic angst and heartache this book left me in ! Folkestone Sins is a world full of secrets drama lies and heartache. Sunday and Payne’s story was angsty suspenseful heartbreaking and steamy and holy mother of all cliffhangers that ending!!! I’m still left utterly devastated and speechless it’s put me in the worst book hangover ever and I just don’t know what to do with myself. I wasn’t prepared for it even a little. These two are absolutely perfect for each other in every way and it’s obvious that they have one helluva journey ahead of them before they get there HEA I’m hoping anyways haha ! New characters were introduced in this one that I’m absolutely obsessing over and old ones are making a reappearance and we’re learning more about the heirs and the sins of some of their parents one in particular is getting everything she deserves. If you haven’t read this series yet you absolutely need too go now and get Fragile Things to start you can thank me later ! This author is a definite favorite of mine and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next , I’m hoping she puts my poor battered heart back together again! This book is hands down a favorite must read of 2021 !!!
Whilst the first two books in the series were from Stella and Poe’s POV’s, we are introduced to Sunday’s POV at the end of Fractured Things, and book three picks up with this chapter as the first chapter in Restless Things.
The story is from the POV’s of two new main characters - Sunday and Payne, and we still have snippets of Stella and Poe and their relationship, but you must read the first two books in the Folkestone Sins Series to understand the series.
I like that this story further dove into more of Sunday’s backstory and the developing relationship of Sunday and Payne. These two each have their own secrets and hurt, but their love for each other has always been at a distance.
The cliffhanger on this book had me immediately starting Ruined Things, as I needed to know more of what was happening in Sunday and Payne story.
This book left off when Fractured Things ended and Holy crap I absolutely love it . I have been waiting for this book and Samantha did not disappointed me I was hooked right form the start I literally devoured this within 3 hrs . This books is definitely page turner and i that cliffhanger at the holy shit Samantha I can’t wait till book 4 comes out !!!!!!!
This one got me back. The first book was excellent. The second I found to be unnecessary as a standalone. This one, yes. Absolutely a yes. This book is another cliffhanger but I’m invested at this point. With every book, I know the characters better. This is Summer and Payne. Part II continues in Ruined Things.
...and my heart was completely obliterated, for myself and for both of our young main characters. Author Samantha Lovelock really put us through the wringer, because in so articulately and beautifully writing their story, their pain became my pain and at the end, I sobbed right along with her characters.
While this is the first book in the duet for Sunday and Payne’s story, it is the third in the Folkstone Sins series, and most certainly cannot be read as a stand-a-lone. Also be mindful of the word ‘duet and know that this will end in a cliff-hanger, and holy crap on a cracker, Ms Lovelock knows how to make a dramatic exit!!! Let me be clear here, I hate cliff-hangers with the blazing passion of a thousand suns seriously! BUT, I have a small handful of authors who I’ll give a free pass to, and Ms Lovelock is among them because they are worth it. I’ve risked the obliteration of my heart and I’m wondering if it’s worth going all Misery on her backside because I need the next book now!!! If your heart can’t take it, don’t be bleating because you didn’t read the blurb or heed my warning!!! Wait until June for the next book and binge read both AFTER you’ve read the first duet in the series of course.
After meeting such a vivacious and supportive Sunday in Stella and Poe’s duet, my heart just broke to hear the secrets she hid behind her smiles. And in the town of Folkstone, Ms Lovelock has created some of the worst mothers out there. I would cheerfully take to them with a spade, and know I’d have reader friends there to back me up that’s what friends do. And in Payne, Sunday had such a deep and solid lifelong friendship, that she was too scared to risk it for more, causing more heartbreak than she could ever have dreamed of, between the two of them.
Payne was such a gorgeous and beautiful hearted young man. Completely one out of a box. His parents loved each other and him, and in having such great role models, he expressed his feelings easily and openly in return, both to his parents, and to Sunday. His POV was both such a pleasure and a heartbreak to read.
Yeah, I was so completely engrossed in this book that the end came quickly and completely blindsided me. I sat like a stunned mullet and just sobbed, not believing that Author Samantha Lovelock ripped the happy out from under me like that. Like I’ve already said peeps, I’ve pulled up my big girl panties because I knew this end was coming, but holy crap, I’m not a happy camper right now. I’m off to stalk Ms Lovelock’s backside until June 2021. It can’t come fast enough.
It still deserves 5-Stars though, even if I’m still sulking 🖤 💙
"These hands wreck me." "They hold everything I've ever wanted. Always just out of reach."
5 Restless Stars!!! Samantha has done it again... I'm officially in love with Payne!
We met Sunday and Payne in the previous books, and if you're like me you totally fell in love with Sunday. Her cheerful and fun-loving personality just sucks you in from the start! But in this book, we find out the darkness that Sunday is hiding. And due to this, she's got a lot of demons she's battling, which she covers under her sweetness! Payne is the ultimate sweetheart and he's every girl's dream. He's Sunday's best friend and would do anything for her... no matter what the cost.
I'm a huge fan of Samantha Lovelock, and have been since the series started! I've been waiting on Sunday's story since book one, and let me tell you I'm not disappointed! I love the tension she builds up with the characters and the intense storylines. She doesn't sugarcoat anything and I'm here for it! I can't wait to read more!
