I love a good love story that packs a punch. Bennett and Sariah have an undeniable chemistry that exudes swoon, but there are secrets that keep them as best friends. I loved the relationship, both working and personal, that they shared. But...Checketts never disappoints in adding an element of danger and suspense that kept me riveted to this adorable story.
I can't imagine having amnesia and Bennett handles his case well, acting as charming and flirtatious as ever, which made their fake engagement seem real. That whole announcement scene was so cute, but when the perilous situation escalated, I was on the edge of my seat.
I love the formula in this story, with great characters, a beautiful setting, plenty of swoon, and a snippet of conflict and danger, but I wanted a more. I guess I wanted a little more development because I wasn't ready for it to end yet. This is the perfect morsel for an afternoon of reading.
Content: mild romance; mild elements of danger/violence/suspense
There’s something really satisfying about reading a book by Cami Checketts. Maybe it’s that her books are really quickly and easily read. I love that! And I love that they suck me in for a little bit and make me forget about the world. It’s nice.
This one features Sariah. I loved her character. She is really in love with her friend and boss, Bennett. But because of her step-father, she feels she has to stay away from him. When she finally feels like she’s at a place she could move forward, Bennett is attacked. And in danger.
Sariah is really brave in this one. She stands up to her step-father and the danger as best she can. And she’s kind of on her own because of Bennett’s injury.
Bennett made me laugh! I loved how even though he didn’t remember who he was, bits of his personality showed through in the things he said. I haven’t known anyone with amnesia, I wonder if that’s how it would really be? If you know, leave me a comment on this post, if you want to.
I loved the setting of this one. I could almost feel the cold and snow of Montana as I read it.
This is a great book that I didn’t want to put down. Don’t forget to grab your own copy!
After reviewing thirty-seven of Cami Checketts stories, this is only the third time I have not awarded four or five stars in a review of her work. Many of the cast members had been introduced in other stories, so as I read it was kind of like an old home week. However, I found very little depth to her work until I had finished over three-quarters of the story. Sariah’s rationale for continuing to keep Bennett in the dark about her blackmailing stepfather was unbelievable. Neither did Bennett’s complicity in going along with her plans to keep him dating lots of women ring true. Even though Bennett’s amnesia was the major overriding story element, I felt it was poorly handled. I kept thinking that Bennett’s emphasis in pursuing Sariah did not fit well with an amnesiac, especially so soon after its onset. It was the way that Ms. Checketts crafted the story after Bennett’s memory was restored that saved this project from a two-star rating. The final one-quarter of the story was easily four-star worthy writing. That said, I recognize that not every effort wins a five-star award, but Ms. Checketts has earned mostly four and five-star awards from me in the past and I will continue seeking out her work when looking for additions to my reading schedule.
This heartwarming, interracial book (she is of Indian descent and he is a Caucasian) with some suspense is about successful actor, Bennett Pike and his childhood best friend and agent/manager, Sariah. They are on a movie set when Bennett is attacked and loses his memory. But there is more at stake as someone clearly wants him dead. There is also a blackmail issue that Sariah has to deal with and keeping a secret from Bennett. The characters were likeable and their characters were well developed in this book. The storyline was interesting and the book was well executed. There was such love between the main characters and Sariah's situation was so traumatic for her that I thought she was very endearing, Bennett was also so caring and swoonworthy. The book was a very enjoyable read with angst, a thrilling situation and wonderful auxiliary characters. I do feel like I missed out not reading this book in order as I did not know the auxiliary characters's backstory but this book can be read as a standalone. I rate this clean read 4.5*.
An action-packed story about best friends who grow together as teenagers and stay close as they move into their careers. Watching them try to untangle the mess that deception, hurt, and even blackmail had caused is heart-wrenching and yet liberating too. Bennett and Sariah seem to have it all with his success as an actor and hers as his agent. They are "joined at the hip" but seem to bury their true feeling for one another. Watching those feelings emerge even while dealing with amnesia is fun. These swoon-worthy characters are surrounded by great friends from previous stories. I love watching them all come together to take on the latest set of challenges. I also liked the look into the importance of trust in a relationship. Another terrific addition to this series!
I can't imagine a world where I would be that stupid!
Ah! Finally! I love both Sariah and Bennett, we have met them before, but never fully understood why they never acted on the sparks that explode between them. Here we get all the sordid, heart breaking details and you have to ask....is love enough? Can love forgive all secrets? And can you have love without trust? This book is an emotional roller coaster, but it may just be my favourite of the Mystical Lake series so far, a great Kindle Unlimited read.
This story is constantly suspenseful. Whether on camera or off, the action never stops. I love how these characters navigate moving from friends and business partners, to being each other's everything forever. It was really hard for Sariah to learn to trust Bennett to meet her emotional needs, because she always held herself as the problem solver. Seeing her start to break down her own walls made me so happy for them.
I purchased a copy of thiis story from Amazon and voluntarily chose to share my review.
Another great book in this series of Mystical Lake Romances. Bennet Pike an up and coming star and his agent/friend Sariah we’re becoming quite close but because of her step father and his demands she could not and would not admit her love for him. This book of love and betrayal as well as intrigue and mystery was a great read. Another great book by Cami Checketts. I love reading her books. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
I really enjoyed this trip back to Mystical Lake and the intrigue surrounding Bennett and Sariah.... it was just enough to keep you guessing and wrap you up in their story even more. I absolutely loved getting to see more of Sutton Smith's characters as well as characters from other books by this same author. Once again, I can't wait to read the next installment and meet new people and see familiar faces.
I enjoyed this tale of two people that love each other but didn't know how to overcome the barriers between them. The tale of Sarah's horrible stepfather and his blackmail made me want to jump into the story and have her tell someone about it. I was glad when she finally admitted what was happening and people could help with things. His knowing she was the one for him even though he didn't know anything else was precious.
I was very surprised and disappointed to read the reference to the main character maybe being gay. This is a lifestyle choice that we Christians call sin as well as lying, gossiping, etc. Jesus died to forgive all sin and although we love all sinners, we do not condone or make light of sin.
I love every part of this book from first page till last page. The interaction of the characters were fantastic. I love romance and suspense mixed together. One fantastic read. I have loved all the books in this series and highly recommend them. This book in my estimation deserves 5 stars.
Not a lot of depth, but a fluffy, fun feel good read. I could tell there were other people's stories I've missed by not reading every book in the series, but it wasn't confusing. The story could stand alone. Some run on sentences. Some of the dialogue and story felt really scripted (like the fight scenes, for example). Clean with only kissing.
If Sariah and Bennett are such close friends, why would she not tell him she is being blackmailed? Ten Years! He should know, especially since Tad threatened to hurt Bennett. And she had several chances to reveal to police and security. No one would travel to Afghanistan to visit their military spouse while they were deployed.
Great story with lots of suspense right from the start. Bennett and Sariah have been best friends since middle school. Helping him rise to become a famous actor has been her main focus. Protecting him and her mom has affected her life. A satisfying romance that holds your attention. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
He loses his memory- and she convinces him to pretend to be engaged to her. Her stepfather threatens her and her mother and him! So to keep them safe she pretends to be engaged. He agrees - but feels like it should be more!!! This is a great love story that will keep you on the edge of your seat!!!
Fell in love with Hope and Cedar and was intrigued with Bennett’s story. I was not expecting his response to Sariah’s secrets. Engaging story beautifully told. Great series.
This is an amazing and breathtaking love story with endearing and adorable characters that will steal your heart from the very beginning til the end as they journey towards their unforgettable unconditional happily ever after.
This book has it all, amnesia, blackmail, A stalker and even romance! He is a Hollywood star and she is his best friend and manager. When he gets attacked and develops amnesia things get complicated.
Sarah tried to protect Bennett from her stepfather. Bennett is her work and he has her in his sights. Can she keep him safe? Can he make her trust him?
This book was super clean and had some very fun characters. I like the storyline and it was a very fun read. Editing was great and I really am having a good time reading this series.
