A mind-bending time-travel saga you will never forget: Parallel, Intersect, Across Time and Across Eternity, plus bonus novella The Wedding and a never-before-seen epilogue to Across Eternity.
Elizabeth O’Roark lives in Washington, DC with her 3 children. After many years spent writing scintillating brochures about amniocentesis and heart surgery, she is thrilled to have found a job that allows her to just make s*** up.
This 4 book series is the perfect reading escape. There are 2 duets - Parallel & Intersect followed by Across Time & Across Eternity. In the first duet, we meet Quinn Stewart. For as long as she can remember, she has these dreams or visions of an alternate reality and they often involve a guy named Nick. They are so real to Quinn that she's either crazy or something else that she can't explain. And then she actually meets Nick Reilly and he's exactly as how she pictured him in her mind, down to all the details she knows about him on a personal level. Nick, a neurologist, is very intrigued by this beautiful and intriguing new patient of his and she's not unfamiliar to his subconscious either. Together, they try to piece together how they know one another and if this lifetime will replicate any of the ones that Quinn has been imaging them together from before. Their chemistry is palpable from the start and having finally found each other, it seems impossible that they would ever have to be apart again. Throw in romance, angst, suspense and mystery with a mind bending twist and these two had me staying up all night to devour both of their books and to solve an engaging puzzle. I absolutely loved both Nick and Quinn!
Across Time and Across Eternity take place earlier chronologically than Parallel and Intersect, but it makes more sense to read them afterwards as this duet connects intricately with the other one. Amelie Besson is in France right before WWII, having traveled back in time and not entirely certain of her purpose yet. Immediately, she's in the crosshairs of Henri Durand after showing up unexpectedly in his barn. Amelie and Henri's sister, Marie, hit it off because they share certain unique things in common, which results in Amelie spending a lot of time around Henri, too. While Marie may be friendly and trusting, Henri is the opposite regarding Amelie, causing her to question what is she doing here and if she should go back to the present. Aside from the growing tension between Amelie and Henri, which turns into so much more in the best way, there's a bigger underlying issue that Amelie is looking for answers to. Across Eternity, the sequel, really puts the characters to the test since WWII has started and the German invasion into France changes things for everyone. Amelie undergoes a major character growth with all of the obstacles she has to face and turns into someone formidable and brave. I had swooned hard over Nick, but Henri really stole my heart. There is tragedy, heartbreak, adventure and love. If anything, love is what transcends time and guides all of the main characters' decisions.
This quartet has my top reads of 2019 and 2020 all combined together with a fantastic bonus novella and emotional epilogue. I felt all the feels and finished them with a heavy, but happy heart. I would recommend this to anyone looking for books to get lost in and immersed in a world that they will only want more of when it's over. Elizabeth O'Roark wrote this so brilliantly and I can't wait to read more of her work in the future.
When you're looking for the very best in time travel books, look no further than The Parallel Series by Elizabeth O'Roark. She manages to take us on not one but two journeys, masterfully combining them into 4 extraordinary books.
Parallel and Intersect feature Quinn and Nick and the recurring dreams that feel so real and are the key to the mystery surrounding each of their present and 'former' lives. Guidance from parents and strangers alike set them both on a course for some answers while realizing just how much they love the other when it seems like they only just met. The pace is perfect and the numerous 'a-ha' moments are wonderful as the layers of their quest to find the truth are uncovered chapter by chapter. O'Roark uses smart humor to get Quinn and Nick through all the confusion and gives their story a sweet kind of charm. I never felt too lost as the Author does a great job in explaining all the reasons for both the dreams and the events that often have everyone scratching their heads. Really well done, I couldn't put this duet down.
With Across Time and Across Eternity, we get Sarah and Henri's unpredictable love story. Theirs is much more of a mystery imo as Sarah travels across time and space and lands not only on Henri's family farm in the 1940's but in his hardened heart as well. It's a rough go for these two but neither can deny the chemistry between them despite what might be going on around them as the Germans are on the threshold of destroying Henri's native France. I felt as if this duet was a bit more complicated than it's predecessor, with a bit more time travel and secondary key players having more of a role than books 1 & 2. But O'Roark guides us well and everything that was still a bit of a loose end in Nick and Quinn's story comes together as book 4 nears its end.
In addition, this special boxed set has two bonus novellas that truly give us the complete story and even more happy than I could've dreamed of. It's pretty incredible how the Author traversed these books so flawlessly, each couple and their story becoming more of a big picture that comes together quite well as the last pages are read. I am hopeful we get more from this 'family' of time travelers with future generations seemingly having even more power than the ones before them.
If you curious about this genre, look no further than the Parallel Series. It is extremely well-written with the right amount of love, heat and mystery to keep you glued to your e-reader. It is definitely deserved of a huge 5+++ stars!
These 4 books are divided between two couples with 2 books each so I'll try to review them as such:
Book 1 and 2- Quinn and Nick
If I ever meet and fall for a man like Nick Reilly, I think I'd consider myself infinitely lucky. Good God, he was the sweetest dream. 💖😍 On the other hand, Quinn ...was a doormat and she might have slightly improved till the end but she still remained 80% of that doormat. Not only that, but I felt as if she was stupid. I mean, you are having such realistic dreams about a man and you have so much information about him....anyone, and I do mean literally anyone, would become curious amd atleast look up that man or the places in her dreams, to see of they are even real. She didn't ever try that. That's just sheer stupidity and a massive plot hole I wasn't able to get over during this whole story.
Book 3 and 4- Sarah and Henri
Damn, This story, even though it was sort of historical and I don't read that genre, was really good, not to mention much much better that the first two books in terms of being a page turner. I always wanted to know more, the suspense was very thrilling. Henri and Sarah were amazing together.
However, there were a lot of reasons it disappointed me :
1) it felt more like a survival suspense that a romance book. All the focus was on how Sarah came to survive her ordeals than the relationship between Henri and Sarah.
2) Marie- Lucifer help me but I haven't met such a selfish, childish and rage inducingly stupid side character before. I mean it when I say she was worse than even the Nazis. I can totally justify killing her and no judge in the entire world would convict me if they read this book.
3) I love Sarah and I am of the belief that she suffered non-sensibly for others because of her love for them and her big heart....and no one was grateful to her for it. Well, except Cecelia. Even Henri didn't grovel as much as he should have and then he kept leaving her to do one thing or another when he should have made Sarah his priority instead. It was exhausting to read how Sarah had just herself to depend on time and time again when things got hard and harder. It was extremely depressing for a romance book. I love Sarah and my God, did she deserve better.
Here’s the thing, I need everyone to read this series. The first two books: Parallel and Intersect will lock you into a world of confusion but make you fall so deeply in love, you’ll feel butterflies from start to finish. Nick ans Quinn are destiny. They are destiny. DESTINY. You fall so deeply in love with both of them you don’t know which one you like more. It is not often that I equally like the herione and hero so much. I wish I can put into words the amount of feelings I felt when I read these two books.
“It feels like we’ve already waited forever. It’s like I’ve been missing you and craving you my entire life.
Let alone, this universe is so intriguing. It’s new. It’s refreshing. You so badly want to crack the code and you wonder what adventure you’ll be taken on. Dare I say this might be the most enchanting universe I’ve read since Harry Potter. Fans of Romance have to dive into this book. I’ve read these two books multiple times. MULTIPLE times and it does not stop me from falling so deeply enamored with Quinn and Nick every single time.
If you look at my original review for Intersect you’ll see I couldn’t even form the right words. So that’s how much it stunned me.
Now, moving onto Across Time and Across Enternity, here we have the sequel/ prequel (you’ll understand when you read it) about Quinn’s mom Sarah and her love story with Henri. Listen to me here, when I tell you I stayed up for 5-7 business days after finishing this duet staring up at my ceiling with the worst book hangover I’ve very had: I mean it. This duet will gut you. It will make you scream. It will make you sob. It will make you wish for an epic love story that is Sarah and Henri.
These two books further expand the universe but raise so many questions but you see the amount of sacrifices that had to happen in order for Quinn and Nick to get their happily ever after. It’s truly full circle. I can’t WAIT, for the next books.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this box set but I mean it, I was lucky. This series is unlike any other. I hope everyone has the time to read this beautiful series. It deserves so much love and praise.
Say hello to your new book boyfriends! There's drama, suspense, and HOT HOT romance!!! There are two duets in the series that tie together so pay attention to the little details. For being books about time travel, the books are so well written that it does not get confusing at all and flows together perfectly. You will not be able to put these books down!
Reading the whole series in one so I might as well review it in one. I've never read a timetravel book before and I'm really enjoying it. I love not knowing what's going to happen and I love soul mated love and love across time and "we'll find each other in every universe". I just adore it. And I'm not gonna disect each thing cause it's alot but future me just know that present me enjoyed this :)
💙 All I know is how I feel—as if I’d swim the ocean to save her, walk into battle on her behalf without a second thought. That when I stand on that dock in my dream, I want to give myself to her until there is nothing left of me. - mind u this was page 22 sooo.
💙“Tell me what to do, he says hoarsely. “I refuse to give up on this. There’s got to be a way to find Rose or someone else and go back to fix things. I will do any fucking thing you name if it will help us figure this out.
💙 “I somehow found you once in London, and then I found you here, when I didn’t know who you were, she says. “And nothing can keep me away from you now that I do.
💙“Your mother’s response was just…wrong. She never should have reacted like that. “I can’t blame her. Anyone would have been scared of me. “I’m not, he says. I glance at him and feel a small crack, a sliver of light entering that dark place inside me. “Yeah, I reply, smiling. “You’re not.
💙“It may have escaped your attention, he says, voice low with fury. “But I am crazy about you. I’m so crazy about you I seem to care very little about everything that mattered a month ago. Not my reputation. Not my job. Not my future. All that exists for me is the time we have left, and after that, honestly, I can’t imagine wanting to go on.
💙Quinn stands at the French doors with this look of wonder on her face, taking it all in. And that’s the look I’ve been waiting for from her. “This is it, eh? I ask, smiling. She forces her mouth into a straight line. “How do you know that? she asks. “I haven’t said a word. I twine my fingers through hers. “How do I know anything? “Yes, she replies with a small laugh. “This is it.
💙“Marry me, Nick says. People around us are listening, so his voice drops to add, “in this lifetime and any others we find ourselves in. He pops the box open and I gasp. It’s my ring, the oval diamond I remember from London. I reach for it and he pulls the box back. “You have to actually agree before you get the ring, greedy girl. “But how…where did you find it? I ask. He grins. “My grandfather gave it to me when I went to see him. I’ll tell you about it later. After you answer. Goose bumps crawl over my arms, but they’re the good kind. The kind you get when you’re so thrilled and astonished at once that you have no idea where to begin. “Yes, I whisper. “In this lifetime and all the other ones, I will only want you.
-UPDATE I read reviews of the last 2 books and NAH I'm not up for dat :) So this is the end of it for me - only read book 1 n 2 and quite happy with it :)
The last 2 are about quinns parents not even thebkids so I'm all goods
This series is amazing. Although it is two complete duets, they do link together so read it in order.
I was intrigued by the blurb of Parallel and had to read it. Multiple lives together, etc. And did it ever deliver. Her writing is superb and the story line keeps you wondering, guessing and on the edge of your seat. The characters were amazing too. Intersect, the duet conclusion was just as twisty and turny and was so much fun as it unfolded. There are so many nuances to this story and Quinn and Nick are amazing together.
The novella The Wedding was wonderful because I loved getting to read about Nick and Quinn’s wedding. The Island is absolutely gorgeous and it was fun getting a glimpse of Sarah and the twins at the end.
Now, though I really enjoyed the Parallel duet, the Across time duet was my favorite of the two. Amelie travels from the late 80s to the late 30s and meets Marie and her brother Henri as her late sister was telling her in her nightmares that she had to go help them. Henri...swoon...so protective and adorable. He's my fave male character in this whole series. I fell SO hard for him. The time period is just before the Germans invade France. So many things occur and this story is just so engaging. Elizabeth does a great job of pulling you in and creates the best characters.
Across Eternity is an absolutely fabulous ending to this duet. It was detailed and twisty. It was sexy and romantic but also totally absorbing and riveting. There was never a dull moment and it was so intricate in the way the entire story unfolded and played out. Wow...just wow!!! This is one of my favorite duets. I loved it being set around the time of WWII.
The Island Novella, oh my heart! It was amazing to read about everyone all in the same place. And Henri getting to meet someone for the first time was my fave part.
It is hard to write a review without spoilers so, well, you just get my feelings about it. It is timeless and one that I think any age would enjoy. I'll certainly be asking my Mom to read it.
Whenever I open a new book by Elizabeth O’Roark, I always have high expectations. I first fell in love with her writing style after I finished "Waking Olivia," which, if you’ve never had the chance to read it, is an incredible story that you should definitely buy right now. Once "Parallel" and "Intersect" were published, I devoured the duet within a few days, as Quinn and Nick quickly became one of my all-time favorite romance couples. Quinn is the kind of heroine you naturally root for: brave, kind, and unafraid to take chances for the man she has dreamed about her entire life, while Nick is the perfect book boyfriend who is willing to risk everything for his beautiful and mysterious patient.
Given my love for this thrilling time-travel series, it should come as little surprise that I was super excited to learn that Quinn’s mother, Sarah (who has an interesting story arc in "Intersect," to say the least) would be the protagonist in "Across Time" and "Across Eternity." However, even with my expectations as high as they were, Elizabeth still somehow managed to exceed them, since I couldn’t have predicted how obsessed I would become with this series, or how invested I would feel in the lives of these characters. The hero, Henri, is the perfect match for Sarah, and their relationship is pun certainly intended timeless, because even with all of the obstacles thrown in their path, it is obvious that these two individuals are meant to be together. So if you like romances with a fast-paced plot, engaging characters, and incredible writing that keeps you up late into the night because you are dying to read just one more chapter, then "The Parallel Series" will surely be your next five-star read. Let's just say that I wish I could travel back into the past and read each of the four books all over again for the first time!
I saw a blurb about this book advertised on Kindle Unlimited and found myself relentlessly drawn in.
I felt like I lived Quinn's story through O'Roark's masterful character development. Unexpected things would happen and I would think, oh, a random thing just occurred to push the story forward....NOPE. All seamlessly woven in and throughout the plot and the characters.
And after finishing those two, I took a substantial break...mainly because the next duet wasn't out yet. Holy cow. I've reread all 4 books 3 times now, falling a little more in love with the characters each time. Oh, but how the sacrifices Sarah and Henri made hurt...but are so consistent with who they are.
It's hard to delve into plot points without spoilers because there is just so much managed chaos intertwining itself in these books.
These are so much more than a stock story of meant-to-be love - it truly spans across eternity. Elizabeth O'Roark manages a new philosophy of time traveling - and all its intricacies - without dropping any threads of the stories or forcing her people into decisions they wouldn't have made for the sake of plot; she pokes holes in the theory that romance has to be smut or vice versa; and just when you think you have a grasp of where the story is going next....she knocks you flat on your back, usually in shock, but sometimes in tears, laughter, and/or lust.
This series was so, so good! I’m a big fan of Elizabeth O’Roark, and when I first heard about the description of Parallel, I was intrigued. I’ve never been one for time travel books but this series hooked me! I was waiting on bated breath for each book as it came out, and now you have all four together to devour! And Elizabeth snuck in a never-seen-before epilogue that I loved!
It’s hard to sum up the series without giving away plot spoilers. But in the first book Parallel, our main character is Quinn. As she lives her life, she dreams of a man that’s not her fiancé and in several different lives. When Quinn goes to the hospital to get check out for fainting episodes and ends up seeing a neurologist, that doctor is the man from her literal dreams, Nick. So the stories unfold trying to connect the dots on how Quinn and Nick might possibly know each other. I know my details are scarce but trust me, you will devour this series!
If you like Outlander and the Times Travellors Wife, then this book is for you!!!
So essentially the first 2 book is about Quinn and Nick who tries to figure out she keeps dreaming about them even though they never met. Those dreams are just swoon worthy and Nick is the best. The next 2 book relates to Sarah’s story (Quinn’s mother) and how she gets stranded during WWII, and tries to get back home. Sarah is an absolute badass, i really liked the last book and how fast paced is was.
I have reread this series multiple times and absolutely recommend it.
I have read the books previously and love this series. There's a new epilogue about The Island and let us in on what has been happening with Henri and Sarah. This is a paranormal series that is unlike any others that I've read before. Elizabeth O'Roark writes such wonderful books and I can't wait for the book about the twins. I was lucky enough to be able to read an ARC with all the books and epilogue in one place and I'm leaving my honest review.
This series is so gripping and intense (but in the best way) - once you get started you will not be able to stop! Elizabeth O’Roark weaves a unique and well-written plot, and you will be pulled into the stories of the main characters and their romance. If you are a fan of the Outlander series, or The Time Traveler’s Wife, I highly recommend giving this series a try. It will not disappoint, and will instead leave you begging for more!
I stumbled across the Parallel Series. It was my first time travel series, and I loved every minute of it! The entire series was one that I had a hard time putting down and every minute I had, was to see what was going to happen next! Every chapter captured my attention and kept me guessing as to what would happen next. Elizabeth O'Roark is an amazing author and I hope she continues to produce more series of books like this series. You will not be disappointed!
If you've read Elizabeth O'Roark then you know she can write. If you haven't, this series would be a fine one to start with. Her character development is amazing. Attention to detail (especially in a time travel book!) is second to none. Romance heart warming, sexy, angsty and exactly why I read it to begin with. I don't typically read para books but was so glad I chose to here. I wish I could reread for the first time again...that's how much I loved these characters.
Absolutely phenomenal series! One of the best series I have ever read. The author really knows how to draw you in and invest your emotions! I can't recommend this highly enough!
Time traveling story done right! Love, angst, family, happy ending that I enjoy reading. This series really is one of my favorites and I love that we get an extra epilogue with each main couple with the bundle. I cannot get enough of Sarah and Henri!!!
If you love time travel romances - then this is THE series to get!!!! Just an incredible story!!! I’ve loved this from the very first page! You want an addiction?! Read this series!! Add in the book 4 in this set and omg! Talk about addictive!
Want to get lost in a thrilling, suspenseful, romantic story? You’ve come to the right place. I did not want any of these stories to end and can’t wait until there is more.
This is a must read series for anyone looking for a sci- fi fantasy love story. The plot moves quickly and instantly draws you in, the love story isn't over the top corny but is the perfect slow burn, and the sci-fi elements are really well done. This series felt like a treat to my inner child who romanticized living on a farm in the countryside with an enemies to lovers plot line. Trying to get back into reading? Start HERE. or ACOTAR. They are my top favorite fantasy series'.
I have seen this author’s books around but never searched for more details until a trusted friend and fellow bookworm suggested this series to me. The Parallel Series hooked me from start to finish. I lost my sleep for three nights until I ended it with a full heart and more anticipation.
This series has two duets , one in the present and one in the past. They are linked together, so you’d better read them in order. I will not get into any details, because trust me you want the element of surprise.
These books are captivating, exciting and mysterious. The idea is based on time travel so expect many twists and turns. You will have many questions but rest assured that most will be answered on the end of this journey. The two couples are destined to be together, so your heart will beat with their rythm of theirs that work as one. I have to say that sometimes I wanted to throw my tablet but the end is bittersweet.
I would love to learn more about these couples but it seems the author has promised more books! If you want a time travel romance story that will grip you with its multilayered plot, then try this series!
Where to even start. From the first page of Parallel I was hooked. I love Elizabeth O’Roark’s writing style and all of her amazing characters. Parallel and Intersect were the right amount of romance and suspense. I have to be honest when I started reading Across Time, I didn’t realize the books were connected. By the time I got to the end of Across Eternity, I had made the connection and guess what I did? I reread them all again from a new perspective. The way that the author was able to weave in and connect every little detail was just amazing. I think I could read again and again and pick up little bits I missed. The bonus epilogues just enhance the stories even more. The new bonus novella was a perfect way to conclude all 4 stories though I hope we still get to see more someday from these characters. I can not recommend these books enough!!!
I’m so glad a full box set of this series exist and that too with an additional epilogue! I’m so in love with this series! This is one of the best contemporary romance series I’ve ever read. The way the author treated the plot is just stellar. The characters are great! Quinn and Sarah might be the best heroines I’ve ever read and Sarah is specifically is such a badass! The heroes Nate and Henri are now on top of my book boyfriend list. I can’t recommend this series enough. It’s a must read for readers who enjoy a good plot, great characters, and some good steam. I’m so looking forward to other books from the author and would love more continuation of this series!
I love this series so much! I found it by accident (I wouldn't call myself a time-travel/paranormal romance reader usually) and it is now my favorite series! The series is a page-turner for so many reasons - the perfect amount of suspense, romance, fantasy. Elizabeth O'Roark created such an interesting world that I could spend forever discovering more about. This isn't a cookie cutter romance series. Her characters are also fantastic. This book truly made me laugh, cry, stay up all night, and spend days thinking about it after I was done. I can't wait for more of this series!
I’ll start by saying Elizabeth never disappoints. She is an amazing author and I love everything I’ve read of hers - which I think is just about everything.
That said - this is an all new high. I hope you have some free time because you will NOT want to stop reading these books. It’s two related sets with some extras. So you don’t have to wait to see what happens next - it’s all there!!
Romance, Time Travel, Suspense, Hot and Beautiful characters. It covers all the bases. Really. Go read this now. Apologize to your family for being MIA for a few days. You won’t regret it.
Such an incredibly engrossing read. Be warned you will not be able to put them down once you have started to read! These have been a great read during iso and they transport you into another world. The characters are so rich and multi dimensional. You could write a book each about all the main characters and I wish Elisabeth O'Roark would do just that! These series were the best read I've had in a while.
The Parallel Series was an incredible read. A very intriguing story line. There are so many thought provoking and interesting dynamics. It will keep you on the edge of your chair wondering what happens next. The pieces come together in a very unique and wonderful way. O'Roark is a master at writing time travel. But, there is so much more. A wonderful romance with layers of angst, love and loyalty. The Parallel Series is one you won't want to miss.
This was such a great series! This is definitely one of my top reads. I love time travel stories and this one has itin spades. This was also a very different storyline and it hooked me from page one. I loved the added glimpse we got in this book series and I am so hoping we'll get to meet the twins and learn even more. You defiant want to miss this one
